You will be able to see all the reviews of real people who know the products and services of Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden (Tourist Attraction) in the area of Lethbridge (Canada).
At the moment the firm gets a score of 4.6 over 5 and this rating has been calculated on 127 reviews.
As you can see it reaches an feddbacks average is basically the highest, and it is based on a very high number of opinions, so we may say that the score is quite credible. If people have bothered to evaluate when they've done well with the business, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to give evaluations when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Tourist Attraction belongs to the category of Garden.
Beautiful and serene. The atmosphere is peaceful and the staffs are so cordial and knowledgeable. From the ticket receptionist to the pavilion guide everyone was really nice and kind even during these new times. Really enjoy my trip here.
Canadian garden in Japanese style. Celebrated its 50th birthday in 2017 with Princess Ayako of Takamado. One of the best Japanese Gardens in Canada, if not North America
A very beautiful garden. I wish I could go there every day and walk around in silence and tranquility. A must to visit
Free water. But really small park space for walking. Otherwise everything is well maintained.
Quiet, lovely setting for a wedding
The winter lights display is amazing! Affordable and beautiful. And you get a cookie and hot drink! So romantic
Looks very nice but now it’s closed
A really great place to relax and regain some calmness. Worth the trip when you are in Lethbridge. Consider an annual pass of your live close by; you can come during the different seasons and get a different impression of the Gardens. If you can, leave time to go into the buildings and hear the short presentations regarding the Garden's history and Japanese culture.
Great little tourist attraction in the heart of Left Bridge. Quiet scenic spot to enjoy some sun while strolling through the beautifully manicured Gardens. Tons of picturesque spots get some selfies. There is a gift shop and they provide kimono rental service
peaceful and tranquil.
Really really awesome place, with great holiday events, and a nice gift shop. Not to mention how beautiful the garden itself is all year round. Definitely a place worth visiting.
Love Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden at any time of year, especially during the winter and Winter Lights event. I enjoy the variety of events that they put on like the summer picnics, charcuterie, etc. Can't wait to experience events in the new Bunka center.
Absolutely beautiful!! The staff and volunteers put so much care into the gardens and it shows. We've gone many times and plan on going many more!
Well maintained and peaceful. Worth a visit and accessible for all ages (strollers and wheel chairs).
I visited on a cold January night for their light the night arrangement. For the nominal entrance fee I was able to wonder around a beautifully lit winter wonderland. So colourful. This is a must see when seeking peace and happiness in Lethbridge. The gift shop has a wonderful assortment of Japanese cultural trinkets and books too.
Was a nice place to visit. Probably will not go back.
Great place to commemorate all the work done by the Japanese in establishing Southern Alberta. Wonderful seasonal attractions.
I went to the light festival, I would highly recommend to any families who want to get out of the house and have a good time this can be a family activity or it can be a cute date idea very peaceful plus great picture opportunity for cute photos
The gardens are simple, and beautiful. Absolutely recommend getting a tour, you'll have a while new appreciation for the place. It's a great way to spend an hour or two.
Its a nice ce place but I think entrance fee is too much for so little place to look around.
The gardens are nicely decorated every year with ice sculptures throughout. Definitely worth checking out.
Very interesting and serene. Their special events such as Canada Day or the winter lights display are wonderful.
Nice to see Japanese garden and had green tea
Beautiful place to visit!
Need some Japanese music while walking the grounds. Other than that nice place to take pics and learn a bit about the garden and Japanese building.
Beautiful gardens, informative friendly staff. Definitely recommend a visit if you are down in Lethbridge. We made a special trip for it and it was worth it.
Beautiful and definitely worth the price of admission. Why take a Christmas light tour of the whole city when you can come here and see it all in one spot.
An all season garden, magical and historical. We went in winter, can't wait to go back this summer.
Was a terrific time to come and see. I was especially hopeful to come here with my girlfriend but I hope I can during my next visit to Lethbridge. There's an especially peaceful feeling to the area when walking the trail.
It was absolutely gorgeous. Was there while there was lots of snow and the Christmas lights on every tree. Highly recommended.
Took the kids on the 10 minute horse ride around one side of Henderson Lake and back, got a hot chocolate and cookie and walked around looking at the beautiful lights! Pretty good experience for $15 a head (kids under 5 free), and the kids loved it!
One of Lethbridge's few hitspot tourist spots to go to! It's peaceful, there are many events throughout the year, and great staff. I loved watching the Canada Day fireworks inside. Great view all around!
2020 Winter Light Festival
Magical. Beautiful. Feels like a serene Oasis in the chaos of the city.
This is a small, but lovely Japanese garden. Make sure you take a guided tour, with a tour guide you will get so much more out of your visit if you know the history of the garden, and what each area represents. They also have an interesting gift shop.
This place is a gem! It is kept so well and the staff are very friendly. Historically, artistically, culturally, this place has so much to offer. Very meditative.
Went to see the Christmas light display. Absolutely beautiful job. Price of admission was crazy cheap. Purchased the friendship package online before we went and everyone received a hot beverage of choice (apple cider, coffee, or flavored hot chocolates) and a cookie. We were there on a festival night so there was a DJ and spot to dance plus a few extra things going on. Highly recommend visiting.
I really enjoy the calm atmosphere and beautiful natural setting. It's a great place to go to meditate and relax. I am looking forward to the winter lights festival that is coming up.
Very nice winter lights. Wish they would allow you to walk the full circle not half and half. Especially when its chilly!
Always enjoyable. Always new programs happening
Authentic Japanese feels! Beautifully trimmed trees and landscape, felt like I was in Japan again even for a fleeting moment.
A serene place to be in the heart of Lethbridge. Take your time and enjoy each little corner.
Such a lovely peaceful place.
We walked from our hotel (Sandman Signature) of 50 minutes. The visitor centre was well organized and she recommended that we purchase the entry with a beverage ($30.00) for the both us. This was as we had arrived after 4:00pm and had missed the tea ceremony. The walk was around the garden (it can take from 15 - 60 minutes) depending upon your level of reflection and contemplation. We completed the walk after 20 minutes. A couple of Grad 2020 women were having their photos taken and I trust that the photos will turn out to be an awesome memory. Ring the the bell for a most soothing sound. Thanks a lot to the staff (especially Chris) for a most informative discussion and information sharing.
Super cute winter activity
It was such a treat to visit the garden and enjoy the winter lights. We were quickly swept up into its beauty as we walked around and admired the small and big details of this city treasure. Will most definitely attend again next year!
This place is so serene! the place for you to meditate specially early in the morning with lesser crowd. A very quiet and nice place to be in a crowded city.
It was nice as the weather was calm and temperature was mild. Covid rules wear a mask once you enter. You have to buy tickets in advance. Good place to take a date
Went for the first time just before Christmas, the light displays were excellent. I'm excited to see it in spring when it's green and lush. Highly recommended.
It's very pretty but not worth $9/person to visit
It's really a nice place and very calming to your soul.
Highly recommend dropping by and taking in the relaxing atmosphere. Friendly staff, beautifully kept gardens within the City of Lethbridge. A great representation of what Japanese gardens can look like with Canadian flora.
If you need a place to escape, unwind and just take in the beauty, look no further than Nikka Yuko. The gardens feature many Japanese traditions and ceremonies that can be observed or participated in and it's a wonderful cultural learning experience. Ps. Check out the winter lights festival around Christmas for a magical experience.
Beautiful Christmas lights festival!
Love going to this place. The gardens are beautiful and peaceful.
Serene and enjoyable. The staff here are all excellent.
I have to say this is most amazing garden Ive seen in Canada. it very well represent Japanese garden design cues. The little streams and the little temple, plus some bonsai. really is very relaxing while walking through the garden. The pavilion will held different event by weekdays and weekends. our today Monday is showing the Japan martial arts. We so pleasing can find here and it all worth the price. 5 star recommend
Complete rip off. Not value for money. The garden is beautiful but tiny, takes only 10 minutes to cover the entire garden. But good wedding photography opportunities.
The garden's were very tranquil and calming. It was nice to see the waterfall and ornaments around the garden. The house looked great. Well worth a visit.
This is a nice and serene spot to visit!
This is a beautiful garden that celebrates the friendship between Canada and Japan. I loved walking around the peaceful trail. The volunteers were very knowledgeable about the garden as well as Japanese history. What a lovely gem.
Always always always love a trip to the Japanese gardens. Calm and relaxing alone, or good fun in a group with family and friends. It's also a great date spot. Also had a lot of fun when Reno was hosting the Pokémon Go nights in the garden, and got to feel yet another side of the garden when it was packed.
Wonderful, peaceful garden to visit. Take the tour included with admission. It is well worth it.
Breathtaking, serene, picturesque! A tiny piece of Japanese Zen in an ever busy modern world. Embracing the tranquil quality of quiet waters, age defying architecture, stunning yet simple landscaping & a Rock Garden just to name some of the eye appealing features. Relax, sit & take in the gentle sound of the friendship gong or the peaceful echos of the gentle flowing waters while walking over any of the many footbridges. This is a must see for everyone! Affordable & small enough to not need hiking boots!
Absolutely lovely Japanese garden. We went to see the Christmas light show and were blown away. It's not a huge garden (we walked through twice, took lots of pictures and it took us just over an hour) but the lights were incredibly well done. Also much more affordable than zoo lights and a nice change. The snacks and drinks available were also delicious. The candy and gift shops are also worth a look.
Beautiful garden. Missed the tea ceremony 11am & 3pm only and the dancing at 5:30 pm only. The garden walk itself was lovely yet short. It took only 15 mins to complete. Ringing the bell was a awesome experience. The Japanese House was visually attractive but again short. It would be great to have more showcases of the Japanese Culture done throughout the day. Hopefully this will be the case after Covid 19 is no longer an issue.
Beautiful gardens with a very nice ambiance for light strolling and private conversation. The Christmas display is very beautifully done and worth the price of admission.
It wasn't worth a special trip. If you are at lethbridge then you can swing by. Its a beautiful lake surrounded by garden in middle of rhe city.
Beautiful japanese style garden
This is a very sacred space for me, I first went with my partner who was born in Japan, he loves it. I feel they really create a meditative space for everyone to enjoy, respect and cherish. I thoroughly enjoy this space. If you go, be sure to show respect to the traditions of the Japanese culture.
Friendly greetings at the entrance. A beautiful, tranquil space to visit and hang out at.
Absolutely beautiful little walk gardens are very well kept great for a stroll on a nice day
Very nice, I enjoyed it.
Beautiful
The garden is not big, but it gives you calm vibes. Great place to spend some time with yourself!
Such a beautiful, peaceful and serene place to visit. I spent about 3 hours here enjoying the energy. I truly loved the place and loved relaxing in the present moment. Definitely a spot you want to visit. Tranquility at its finest. Just enjoy the sites and sounds.
The lunch bento box was a memorable experience and we'll worth it.
Beautiful lights to see. The matcha maple cookie was yummy.
Beautiful gardens and a relaxing atmosphere.
I love the Japanese garden, the fountains and the landscaping with blooms everywhere. I've lived in Japan for more than a decade and this place makes me feel nostalgic in a good way.
Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden is a 3.75-acre (15,200 m2) garden near Henderson Lake in Lethbridge, Alberta, designed by Dr. Masami Sugimoto and Dr. Tadashi Kubo of Osaka Prefecture University in Japan. The pavilion, shelter, bridges and gates were built in Kyoto, Japan, by five artisans who later reassembled them in the garden. It was opened July 14th 1967, during the Canadian Centennial.
This is a really beautiful garden. Well maintained and organized. It's a little small but you can take lots great landscaping photos. The ticket price is $11 which a little bit expensive. Worth to stop by in the summer time.
Such an amazing garden. We walked out of there feeling relaxed, serene, calm and mellow. The tea ceremony was a delight to watch with lots of interesting history. This garden was designed beautifully and worth the small admission fee. This is not a botanical garden tho. The trees, landscape and water features are gorgeous and just to sit and listen and go through the garden slowly and experience the hide and reveal aspects is fun.
Simply Amazing......
Tranquil. If you need a few minutes peace, stop by.
It was beautiful and peaceful. I loved learning the history of the location
Beautiful place in the winter and even better in the summer.
Very tranquil and serene spot. A little slice of Japan in Canada. The guides are knowledgeable and invested in making every detail perfect. Well worth a stop and not to be rushed through.
Fabulous japanese garden, serene, with lots of history and rejuvenating power in the pagoda, friendship bell, dry rock garden and gazebo area within. The specially pruned trees and pathways together with the waterfall sounds, islands and streams in this specially forested area add much to promote inner peace and serenity. Not very large extensive area but many spots to sit and drink in the sound and beauty around. I think summer and fall would be grand with blooming flowers and fall colors in the maple and other trees. Take time to enjoy the tea ceremony and guided tour only available at specific times (call ahead as schedules change a lot). A truly lovely place designed to stimulate all the senses.
Friendly staff. The garden and buildings are beautiful. Feels like Japan.
This was a nice garden, but there was not a whole lot to see. Perhaps we should have gone on a day that was an event.
One beautiful garden. Calms your mind. There are huts to enjoy the sound of the water running down the streams.
Beautiful place to visit. Great selection in the gift shop. Staff is very friendly and will answer all your questions. I love the traditional dresses they wear. The different plants and wildlife make you forget you're in the city.
I came here with some friends & my husband. It was late afternoon before supper and we caught the end of a celebration with Japanese Dancing of some sort. The tea ceremony was fascinating. A great place to come for a walk and enjoy some tranquility. I think we payed $11/person (2019).
The Festival of Lights is a must see! Stunning! The people who take the time to set up the lights and the ice sculptor do a fantastic job!!!
Nice garden and well maintained. Just the $9 entry fee is overpriced considering the small loop and not too many activities to see. Also the restrictions on stepping on grass and some stone area by the water sounds a little weird.
Great place to visit! We enjoyed a lot . Anderson swimming pool is amazing!
The Christmas light display was wonderful this year. I loved seeing it every time I drove by.
I had high hopes for the japanese gardens! And left with major disappointment. For the amount we paid for the 10 min walk as its small! Id rather spend my time an $$ somewhere worth it!...ps.there are free parks an walks all over lethbridge save the $$! The children with admission are to get a bag with a post card, activity book, crayons an a treat..my 3 kids we paid for only got 1 bag, no treats, 3 activity books, 1 (3color) box crayons, and 1 post card. Ripped off a lil. On arrival we paid walked through gates, greeters said hi an told us to walk this way an the building was full atm, ok..we walk right into a dead end! Thanks an as its chained off, turn around an seemed like every turn had someone say off the grass, dont touch this, off the rocks (as you want to get close to the water a little) because there's nothing else to really look at garden wise, not a flower in site!!..and seemed as soon as we got in we were walking out. I wouldn't recommend for the summer...winter love it. But ya sad it wasn't all its hyped up to be
A must visit in lethbridge
We went to the Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden during the winter light festival for our anniversary. Very beautiful garden with all the lights in the trees and snow on the ground, worth the visit.
Must have gone at a bad time. No flowering plants ... not much to look at. 26.00 for 2 seniors and we walked the grounds in about 15 minutes.
The garden is pretty awesome ???? It's pleasing to see ducks swimming on ponds and lake. Water flowing on the brooks is astonishingly very clear.
Went to the Christmas Lights display and it was absolutely gorgeous. Not a lot to do necessarily, due to COVID, but the lights were well worth the visit. Would love to come in the spring and see the cherry blossoms. Highly recommend this destination to locals and tourists alike
Very beautiful gardens in Lethbridge. The tea house was built in Japan then disassembled and shipped over to Canada and put back together by Japanese specialists. The tea room tatami mats hide a smokeless sparkless chamber for heating. The park itself is well kept and is tranquil until someone gives the Bonsho (buddist bell) a tap.
It's worthy of a slow walk, I highly suggest you bring a camera, a good sense of creativity and focused imagination. Certain one of the more unique and positive activities to do in Lethbridge.
A lovely Japanese mix-garden! It's a bit of a short tour but luckily we were on time for the free-admission! They definitely put in a lot of effort. I just wished there was a bit more to see and more activities, but I'm still happy to see this much! + shoutout to the guide (forgot his name :( ) who explained us some historical and traditional side of the culture based on these gardens to us. Made the trip complete with his knowledge and friendly chat!
Beautiful, quiet garden tucked away in a very unassuming location. Was an absolute delight to visit
It was a great treat, we played dress up and enjoyed the Tea Ceremony in its grace fullness and purposeful movements of preparing the tea and serving. Truly inspired me to enjoy each of my daily tasks with the same intention and purpose. Thank you,
Very Beautiful peaceful lake
This beautiful garden never disappoints! It is a jewel in a lovely city.
Ended up here after having to head into town for a flat tire. Ended up spending a few wonderful hours here. The grounds are beautiful manicured and an absolute pleasure to wander around. There were a number of different Japanese cultural presentations being demestrated. Would highly recommend and can't wait to visit again!
Serenity and peace
This place is absolutely marvelous, especially during the Winter Lights! Has a very stunning look to a real Japanese Garden. Love to come here again soon!
Peaceful garden to get away from the noise of a busy life. Wish it was a little bigger bit there is plenty to admire from the neatly pruned trees and the architecture!
Really great and serene experience, I do recommend when you have time to stroll the garden a few times.
Lovely, quiet and peaceful place
Nice white and real beauty. I love this place. Most definitely going there again.
A small oasis in Lethbridge. This was one of our points if interest to visit in Lethbridge. Perfect place for family pics. Even the boys 6 and 9 enjoyed it. Their favourite was ringing the bell.
Relaxing and Beautiful.
Great spot. Very serene and lots of information about Japanese gardens. Inside the tea pavilion was really interesting as well. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. Wouldn't necessarily recommend for your kids though.
Lots of space to have a great pick nick, lots of nice cars passing by
We went last week ???? but we don’t know how to enter because the instructions
This venue was the most amazing place to host a DREAM wedding. It is so beautiful of a location. Mana and Amy have been so wonderful through the whole wedding planning process. Thank you so much for allowing me to have my wedding there!!
It's smaller than I imagined, but it's a very relaxing way to spend a day. Good prices and excellent staff, as well!
This is a must see. As you enter you feel a sense of calm as the gardens and buildings are serene. The staff were all exceptional and friendly. We got a private tour which included an origami session. Recommended!!!
This is a must see in Lethbridge!
Amazing Garden that is tranquil and absolutely pretty. Built in 1967 as a centennial project to commemorate the connections of Japan and Lethbridge. It does have fees to enter but it is well worth it to pay. Visit and be enthralled. Many Japanese cultural events on the weekends during the summer.
What an enchanting and relaxing place! When I entered it was like a spell came over me. Complete calm and relaxation will wash over you as you slowly circulate through the garden. To me the biggest draw of this place is having an excuse to slow down and still your mind. Just remembering it brings me a deep sense of calm. If you're stressed, you owe yourself a visit.
The only sad part about this place is that it isn't bigger! We came during the Kite Festival and my children loved flying the kites. They tried the Okinawa donuts and thought they were great. We also got to hear the drums playing which was really cool. As for the garden itself, it was immaculately kept! Even the water was so clear you could see all the way to the bottom of the pools! Would totally go again!
Very nice and friendly
Perfect place to pull over and cook a meal! There are lots of picnic benches next to trees for a shaded area.
Very beautiful gardens here and if I were a horticulturist it may have been a better experience for me. But there are no real exotic plants as I would have expected and the price was very high for a 30-40 min walk, you can spend more time there but it's not very big.
Wish they planted more Japanese foliage such as cherry blossoms but it's a nice little one-time place to visit
Absolutely incredible, and especially during the light show over the Christmas celebration. Very grateful to Rachel Thomas MP for giving us the free tickets to enjoy it!
Drove with Calgary friends to Waterton Park. On the way back, they insisted we visit this Japanese Garden as a side trip. Well worth it. It's part of a very complete municipal recreation complex that I'd never expect to see in a modest size city. Very impressive. I was visiting from California. The presentation is detail oriented, pleasant, and pretty. Highly recommended.
I went when the garden was closed. It was a shadow of itself in summer glory, but has beautiful bones and such gracious people.
Beautiful Japanese oasis in the middle of Lethbridge. Really adorable nature. For any recommendation.
Awesome little park
About 3hrs from Calgary. A road trip, staycation. Place has ample parking. Parking spaces are the wide ones. Place is vast and beautiful. Very clean and peaceful. Place to relax, meditate. Place can be booked for venues, events, photo shoots and others.. Landscape, and Trees are well maintained, some Trees "trimmed" bonzai style to resemble Japan Trees. The Pavilion has different activities, great to visit.Store shop has alot of genuine Japanese merchandise. Entrance comes with a drink and a Japanese cookie.
Had so much fun , amazing place , but less activity,
Beautiful, well taken care ofJapanese garden. Feels like I am back in Japan. Staff is wonderful too.
Very beautiful, well maintained garden .Water pool, fountains, bid Japanese bell.Must go .Some water rides as well on the sides.Excellent area ro spend time with family .
If you go to Lethbridge then go see this place. It is the most beautiful, serene place I've seen.
Beautifull place, but so much expensive for what you get. 5$ will be perfect.
Such a beautiful place! I haven't been in over 20 years until taking my family to see the wonderful lights the other night.
You have to pay to see the garden they do offer drinks and snacks for additional fee but we did not want to pay to see it the park around it is nice though decent fishing location
Beautiful and quiet place.
This place was absolutely breathtaking! I loved walking around and admiring the beautiful landscaping that is very well taken care of and the employees are incredibly friendly. It is now one of my favorite locations that I've ever been to.
It's a beautiful natural serine place where you can enjoy the typical Japanese garden.
It's really beautiful but abit chilly out.
We had an absolutely wonderful time visiting the garden for our 4th anniversary. Everything was beautiful and well maintained, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. (they loved my wife's Kyubey backpack) This has to be one of our new favorite spots and we will be coming back again and again! (ps, the green tea cookies were SO GOOD!!!)
Don't reccomend the beto box, it was not worth the price we paid. (70.00 for a picnic and entry) The gardens are absolutely beautiful, not as big as I had hoped. But I had a lovely time.
Beautiful garden. I would definitely go again next time I'm in Lethbridge.
Beautiful, quiet spot for a stroll, read a book or a little Shakespeare in the Park!
Such a fantastic local spot. Do not miss!
Nice beautifully maintained landscape/garden. Lethbridge has many beautiful natural parks. This garden costs about $9 to visit. Ok to visit once, although no loss if you skip.
It look amazing and feels peaceful... The picnic was great, though the food from the restaurant wasn't great but it wasn't that bad either... Overall, still a great experience, very much worth a long road trip for...
Beautiful facility, reasonable entrance fees, great way to spend a hot summers afternoon cooling of in the pool. 0 inches to deep diving tank with a soft rubber lining on bottom of pool area. Big shallow area for kids of all ages.
Always a treat to visit this serene spot in the middle of Lethbridge. The winter lights display is a dream!
Beautiful! #winterlightfestival
Green, green, green. Water features are a great addition to the tranquility of this beautiful garden! We had a lovely morning, a piece of peace in the middle of the city.
I hope you get a chance to see this beautiful place and the people there are amazing. So make sure you see it this year when it opens.
Beautiful peaceful gardens. A bit on the expensive side but I enjoyed it.
It's a quaint and peaceful garden. However, it was devoid of any kinds of flowers so they should just plant tons of perennials and just charge $30 a ticket like the butchart garden ???? hehe. The zen rock garden is nice and the stream bench is nice. Informative and friendly staffs (students).
This friendship garden is well worth your time to visit; the staff and tour guides are friendly and knowledgeable - a great place to learn about Japanese culture. The garden itself is nicely maintained and has five key areas to explore. Be sure to book tickets in advance and secure your timeslot, consider their Tomodachi ( Friendship) package to enjoy before or after your visit.
What a nice gem to come across in Lethbridge. When my wife and I arrived, we immediately felt like we were back in Japan. The upkeep is amazing and can tell they take pride in their work. The matcha green tea was wonderful as well. Overall, a must see when visiting and Lethbridge!
Peaceful and serene, a great place to visit to relax from the stresses of everyday life.
Beautiful and serene. Very well manicured. Lovely.
Beautiful, tranquil place to visit. Amazing in the fall.
Gorgeous little place. Much smaller than expected. Very quiet and serene. Staff are wonderful and very informative.
The Christmas Light display was amazing.
Enjoyed the Festival of Lights & the carriage ride.
Perfect
Very beautiful Gardens. It's worth visiting a place in Lethbridge, immaculately neat and clean. We enjoyed spending a beautiful afternoon there. There are a lots of serene beautiful spots for photography. I wish they advertise it more on the Travel and Tourism websites. Before our visit, I had the impression that it must be a tiny little place in Lethbridge, but visiting it personally was a totally pleasant and amazing experience.
Winter lights event was great.
It's very pretty. It's $11 for an adult ticket. It's somewhat small but if you walk slow, you can take it all in. Very important you know the symbolism for everything to really appreciate it. However they are enforcing masks for the Japanese house; even if you have a legitimate medical exemption.
Very lovely place, well maintained.
Beautiful and serene
The lights this year look better than ever and the new visitor centre is very nice!
They had an awesome light show setup,a definite must see.
I was here many years ago and it's still a great place to relax and unwind. Take a camera if you visit, as there are so many things to see. Will be back!
Very nice little garden. Very nice and clean. Nice views, we spend around 50min walking around taking pictures and enjoying the tranquillity of this garden. Staff is very friendly.
Friendly staff. Very Zen and scenic. Lots of work went into this place. Go for a walk around Henderson lake .
The Japanese garden was a nice restful place with beautiful scenery and carefully crafted buildings and a natural area. we were a little confused because there wasn't a sign for purchasing tickets but eventually figured out where to get them. they have a nice gift shop that sells tickets on the way in and there are several interesting buildings and different things that explain about Okinawa and Japanese culture
Beautiful place. Must see.
Beautiful place with the staff being knowledgeable and friendly. Must see if stopping by
Had a wonderful time on our traveling honeymoon. Stopped here for a picnic and to take in the sights. Great price and very hospitable staff. Definitely recommend
Visited it today, expectations were high and experience was low. Even though the staff was great, the area was packed with people but I don't know the winter light festival was not worth it at all, it's just like another Christmas light setup we witness on our streets, nothing more than that. The only good thing were the ice sculptures. I do however feel the visiting time for the Garden is definitely in spring when the sun shines on our heads and the grass is green. I really wanted to experience that google image that made me come down here, but we will be visiting around that time of the year soon. 3 stars for the great staff and zero for winter festival!
These gardens are beautiful and an opportunity to reflect. We arrived during the Lantern Festival. The golf course next door was a distraction but we ignored as best as we could. The garden water features were visually pleasing and the local trees being used to create a calming environment. A very positive experience while visiting Lethbridge
This place is beautiful. Very peaceful and well maintained. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I was just a little disappointed by the size of the place. I was expecting it to be a lot bigger than what it is but I suppose it's already hard enough to keep gardens like these in pristine condition. It's just that we drove all the way from Calgary only to walk around the gardens in about 30 minutes. It's definitely worth a visit though.
Peaceful and beautiful.
I would like to see more things added to this place. For now I think it's not worth the drive
A beautiful spot. I recommend a visit if you're in the Lethbridge area.
Nice garden, very pretty and would have been peaceful but there was a wedding ceremony so there were quite a few people. It is really quite small and we felt that the admission of $9 was a bit high for such a small garden. I was expecting a lot more for all the hype and the cost.
Truly a beautiful and well maintained garden. There is a gift shop outside and a beautiful little house inside. Moreover, events are occasionally held in the garden. They will invite in local artists to display various things such as taiko drums, tea ceremony, etc.
Must visit when in Lethbridge.
such a gorgeous location !! very pretty lights & friendly staff that kept the line moving
It's very beautiful and they had 4 landscapers on site when I went to visit. The only reason I am giving 3 stars is because I expected if to be bigger for what I paid to get in.
Absolutely amazing experience. Beautiful and serene, you'd never know you were in the city! Gives you a real taste of what a traditional Japanese Garden is like. I could spend all day there if I could! 10/10 would go back
It's a very lovely garden and a definite must-see in Lethbridge. The grounds are well maintained and the tour guides are helpful and friendly.
Weliked it a lot. It's beautiful but it is small.
Lovely, even on a rainy day! Some construction in progress otherwise I would have given it 5 star!
Nice enough but price of admission was steep for what you see. It is a long way from the gardens I saw in Hiroshima Japan. Some cities even have better free parks/gardens.
Beautiful place. Great place to go walk around with significant others
Beautiful serene atmosphere.
I went on a dates here twice. The one time I went it was summer. I paid and vowed to never go again because I think it is highly over priced when there are no special things going on there. Lo and behold this past winter we got free tickets so we went to see the lights. It was pretty and nice, but I would not have willingly paid the entry fee. In my opinion the entry fee is insane. You can easily see everything in 10 minutes if there aren't special events going on and there really isn't much in there to see that you can't see else where for free in Lethbridge (with the exception of the house and the bell) I will give them this.....it is a relaxing atmosphere during the summer.
Great place to know more about Japanese culture. I was expecting lots of bonsai but seen way less than expected. The only reason I’m giving it a 4 star.
Very beautiful yet small garden. The lady at the front desk told us about events that would happen but said that it takes 45 minutes up to an hour to walk through the garden? Only toke us around 10 to 15. Experienced two wonderful drum performances.
Received tickets to take the family for the holiday lights, from friends. Very lovely. Me and the wife would love to make this a yearly family event. Friendly staff and plenty of warming up places.
Very calming environment
Friendly staff. We enjoyed our morning visit..
Amazing !! The winter Lights Festival is beautiful and a definite must to see!!
Good view to look at and walk around the lake
Loved the garden all a glow with all the lights. So beautiful and peaceful.
Amazing. Looks great every year.
My wife and I visited the Nikka Yuko Gardens and had a really incredible time. The gardens themselves are very stunning but what made the experience so incredible was the guided tour we went on with Casey. The knowledge he provided on the tour made for a far more interesting visit than we had expected and we are so glad that we decided to go through the garden this way. If you have the option to go through the garden with a guide I do highly recommend it. An all around excellent experience. We will definitely be returning here again!
Absolutely stunning! Picture perfect...
In order to feel the Tokyo Olympic, the best way is to visit Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden in Lethbridge! They have a small indoor exhibition to show the newest Olympic logo on kimono, plus the medal design of the first Tokyo Olympic from the 1964 and etc. The garden is so peace and quiet during weekdays. It's nice to have photo shooting in there. I actually saw two beautiful young ladies doing selfie there, wish to see their point of view of this Japanese Garden.
Very relaxing. This place is an amazing way to de-stress and experience Japanese culture.
One word... beautiful!! Even in the rain, it was amazing
This place is a gem! It is kept so well and the staff are very friendly. Historically, artistically, culturally, this place has so much to offer. Very meditative.
Nice garden, good information, they give you the chance to experience the Japanese culture.
Cool place to visit during summer.
It is time well spent to visit this beautiful, serene, and peaceful space. The manicured gardens and waterways are a joy to explore and experience. Make sure to make a wish and ring the bell!
Beautiful scenery to relieve stress. Calm and gorgeous landscape. Benches and relaxing seating. Japanese tea and desserts are also avaliable. Workers here are very friendly and helpful. Great place to visit.
A little smaller than expected, but it was really nice, peaceful experience. Staff was welcoming and somewhat knowledgeable too. I suggest to opt in for bewerage and cookie option when purchasing a ticket. It took us (with kids) about 45 mins to complete the tour. I recommend this place.
Loud due to people having bag pipe lessons but other than that a great overall experience. And family memories were made.
A very lovely place. The tea house is great. Very peaceful. Lots of places to sit and rest as you walk. Reasonable entrance fee ($9.00 for seniors).
It's very authentic and pretty, but I paid $40 for myself and my two kids and nobody gave me an overview of what was going on they just told me to please stay off the grass. So we walked around inside, saw the store and left.
I like the idea of them doing yoga there, but less excited it was in the middle of the path. Maybe a better area so everyone can enjoy the gardens.
The family season pass is a great deal. Activities for kids every weekend. Check the events on their website for details.
Such an amazing place, I came to Lethbridge in the beginning of June and I didn’t know about this place until recently, amazing staff and the place is very well maintained. It’s such a paradise on earth, I’ll definitely visit again soon.
Might be more magical with snow but still wonderful lights a great job.
Amazing experience! So beautiful and serene! 10/10
Very beautiful
It's a beautiful garden and highlight of the town. The tea house is not working now but there are very informative guides there that explain all about the history of the place and there are screens that play sumo competition. I learned a lot about it from the guide.
Absolutely loved my time there!
Lights were beautiful and it was very well run with great Covid safety in place. Highly recommend going!
Wonderful winter lights display. It gets better every year!!
It was beautiful and peaceful to look at, then the information and slide presentation we received about the Japanese gardens and the meaning of the bridge and the bell and why the gardens are shaped the way they are was absolutely fascinating and interesting, so happy I was there.
Beautiful, peaceful and chill place to walk around.
Great experience. They have special Christmas lights, usually starts end November. Amazing stuff highly recommended.
We enjoy going at Christmas and seeing all the lights.
A beautiful location. We were fortunate enough to get a tour from Ella who gave a lot of great information about the garden. Thanks to her, our garden experience was enriched. We really enjoyed our time there.
Fantastic winter lights festival. Such a nice setting for the whole family!
Small but Beautiful and peaceful.
Awesome place. Smaller than you think. This may be a great place to take pictures and hang out with a loved one. But you can walk around the whole place in about 5 mins. Come here if you want to spend some quality time with someone!!
Beautiful place for family outing...people are so accomodating....
Summer time and winter time .... like the place
What a beautiful, peaceful space. The day was sunny and warm, the staff were knowledgeable about the garden's history and I wish I had more time to spend there. The shady, tastefully trimmed trees and bushes, gentle flow of water and delicate floral aromas create a soothing backdrop for a pleasant stroll along a well maintained pathway with well situated spots to sit or just stop and enjoy the scenery. The pavilion provides access to a calm and frequently changing rock garden, viewed from an open doorway and a surprisingly comfortable ledge. A few exhibits detailing the garden's construction and creators is presented, along with a tea room. The minimalism only serves to enhance the serenity. Upon exiting the pavilion, an amazing waterfall nestled into the landscaping greets you, inviting you to linger before making your way back to the entrance/exit. The only downside (and I was told is in the works) was a lack of location specific souvenirs in the gift shop. I like to collect keychains, or other small items from the places I visit and sadly the only items available that were indicative of the garden were postcards.
Absolutely beautiful day. The gardens are so calm and peaceful. My friends and I spent an enjoyable morning walking around the garden and relaxing on the benches listening to the quiet sounds of water falling
Experienced N Yuko at night in Winter .......Magical!
Very peaceful and beautiful walk, very reasonably priced. I look forward to their new building being completed and going back to check that out!! Advertised guided tours and were short staffed the day we went so no guided tours, that's the only reason they lost a star. There was a wedding there the day we went and that was pretty cool to see all set up, it was mostly unintrusive to our experience and they were also respectful. To the newly weds Congrats!
Lovely gardens,
I visited nikka yuko garden while on a work trip in Lethbridge. It was a nice way to end a hectic day. The garden was beautifully designed with all the elements of zen! I was refreshed after walking around the garden.
What a gem. The years of care and attention is evident. The staff were exceptional and very informative. Loved it.
A magical place for family, friends and dates or even just by yourself. You definitely have to experience the Winter Lights.
Very peaceful. Not as big as I thought it would be, but that didn't take away from the serenity, and sense of calm the garden brings.
The price was pretty reasonable, the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The garden is beautiful and definitely worth taking a look!
We got the package where you walk around the grounds and then get a cookie and drink afterwards (really good deal, we both loved the matcha cookie. They had a wide variety of beverages - some Japanese and some not - they have a green tea hot chocolate which was delicious too) The gardens were a fusion of traditional Japanese gardens and western plants. While a smaller gardens it gave a good representation of the peacefulness and tranquility of the traditional gardens. All the staff were welcoming and inviting. It was a wonderful experience.
The Christmas light display was well done and interesting. The frigid temperatures were you a little extreme and took away from the total experience.
Beautiful gardens!! No flowers (misconception from most people). Wonderfully landscaped and so serene. Happy 50th this year!
Beautiful garden as it always is. However, this was out first experience there during this Covid pandemic. The lady at the ticket counter was by far the friendliest of the staff there. We were not made aware of anything special in the garden or any events. It would have been kind of nice to know if anything was still going on. We had to wear masks inside the building because of the mask bylaw, but to be asked about my baby (9 months old) who obviously is not 2 years (which is the minimum age for the bylaw) to see if she would need a mask too was a bit ridiculous. I do not recommend bringing kids between 2-4 unless they are on some kind of harness. I am a single mom of three 4 and under. It's already hectic as it is for me, but a little nicer approach to be told to get my 2 year old off the grass would have made the experience better so I wasn't just wanting to leave right away. We were told it was for her safety, which I don't really understand since we were also reprimanded about the grass next to the wishing well. I understand the grass by the trees and the water since there is always that chance of accidentally falling in or something, but she just happened to walk beside me on the grass by the wishing well and the staff was right on us. I felt like saying "Don't worry, we are just leaving." Which was true because right after that, I took my kids home. I didn't want to risk taking them for another loop around. The one positive thing I took out of today was I got some nice pictures of the changing leaves.
Gorgeous and serene. There is a suggested order that you get when you arrive. Tickets can be purchased when you arrive or in advance online.
Great experience. I love the place. Clean place.
Very nice and beautiful place. Nice bit of Japanese culture. You follow a path around the place to view the nicely kept place. We walked around the place twice and it took an hour
Very entertaining walk thru light display, awesome scenery of Mt Fuji, waterfall, ringing of the bell, water flow lights, & all the amazing colors of lights in the trees, gotta be there with the whole family. Covid restrictions is maintained for all safety measures
A great place to be quiet and reflective. Let your hearing lead you.
A little small, but beautiful
I it nice to walk the path around the lake
Very nice worth seeing at Christmas
This place is simply stunning. The staff seem knowledgeable and the grounds are kept in pristine condition.
Wonderful place to reconnect with yourself and slow your mind. Lovely tour guide shares a glimpse of Japanese culture. Very peaceful way to spend a few hours.
The gardens are always so beautiful. The lights were lovely and the kids thoroughly enjoyed the gong. A must see!
We had a huge expectation because of great reviews. We have been to much nicer Japanese gardens... The staff were very nice and informative
If we lived in Lethbridge I commented that I would take out a yearly membership and come down to the garden whenever I needed to mellow out, relax, and meditate. It was a gorgeous experience and we are glad that we chose to visit this facility. The people who worked there as hosts and also horticulturalists were extremely friendly when we had questions.
Had so much fun today at the Mamosa brunch! All the staff were super friendly and informative. The brunch was delicious and the scenery beautiful! Lots of time to take numerous photos and enjoy the gardens. We enjoyed watching the tea ceremony. Thank you all so much for a great morning!
Well worth the visit! It always shocks me how beautiful and calm it is inside the gates.
I visited the garden yesterday, and it was a beautiful Friday. I will say that I really think the attention to detail in the gardens is very impressive. The gardens are small, but perfect for strolling. I enjoyed the shapes and layout of the garden and I really enjoyed the authentic feel merged with native Albertan Plants. Though small I do think the gardens are beautiful and worth seeing. My critique more so has to do with the availability of information and such. The architecture is beautiful and I think the grounds are beautiful and well kept. I think what is missing is information or someone to explain cultural links and to ask questions to. My mom and myself as well as my aunt were looking forward to seeing the garden. My expectations may have been a little too high as the website states that with every admission there is included a guided tour, participation in cultural activities, Japanese demonstrations and a Tea Ceremony Presentation, though activities and demonstrations may vary. So while I definitely didn't think we would be able to see everything or participate in all of those things offered as we weren't planning on staying all day, I did expect ... something to be going on if only the guided tour. We have never been so when we arrived we expected there to be somewhere to get information but the reception was pretty cold when we bought tickets. We were not offered any information about times of events and we were not offered a tour or told a time of a tour, the extent of the information we got was to travel through the one building without shoes, though I do want to mention that the two standing at the gates were much more welcoming! Inside there was a Tea Ceremony Room and storage room for tea, and the fellow in there was by far the one with the most information. He even told us the story behind the paper cranes, which was really nice because without information on plaques and without a tour or anything its hard to understand the significance of the choices made in the design of the spaces or the significance of what is in those spaces. The person inside said it wasn't the best of times to be there as the exhibits were changing over. I found this pretty disappointing as we still paid full price for our admission. All in all, it was not a bad visit. The grounds are beautiful, though small. But to anyone looking to go I would say you will have to educate yourself on the history--and the History is so abundant! The history is very rich and I am so impressed about the ability of the gardens to merge Canadian and Japanese identities and ideals and aesthetic and landscape and culture. Very cool, however, the website is a better place to experience/learn the information and culture and the inspiration behind the space.
An actual cultural attraction in Lethbridge. If you live here you need to see it. If you're visiting you need to see it. It's beautiful.
Excellent place to visit, I likely wouldn't go more than once a year even if that. However its definitely worth a look, especially if the drummers are performing. A lot of neat little places to see and take pictures.
First of all I want to say the staff here was great everyone was very kind. I have to say its a very short experience. But I'm sure if they had an event or performance which they do sometimes have the experience would be longer and a lot more enjoyable. I'd definitely say this would be great for family if they wanted to do something fun and want to learn a little history about Japan.
Small, but delightful garden. Had a good time with our 5 and 8 year old boys. Did enjoy the matcha maple cookies and the marble pop is fun for the kids too.
Short walk around the garden. Somewhat pricey for what it is but the beauty was worth the admission imo
Very serene. Friendly staff. Short stroll with nice views
Very serene and tidy. Staff are very friendly. Tranquil. Smaller than I thought and I believe admission for my self was a little high ($9!) But my son was free as he was under 5.
Fantastic little 30 min break from driving. Easy walk around with amazing views and interesting history. The cookies were great too lol
Beautiful garden landscape. They really respect the history of the Japanese and how they are connected to Lethbridge. It's clearly expressed
The gardens are superbly manicured and well maintained. The setting is beautiful with the lake and park next door. However, it is not a large space so we stretched our visit to 45 minutes to justify the $11 a head we paid to get in.
Clean, peace and nice
Wonderful garden to spend the afternoon in. Highly recommend the picnic. All the staff were very kind and knowledgeable about the garden.
White people can go!
We walk around Henderson lake which is a beautiful walk only went to the gardens when I first moved here and was very disappointed that there were no flowers just trees i feel the cost to get in is a little high
Beautiful, is an energy ..place, I visit once and it has an energy that gives back, and I am pulled to revisit.. blissed
Went to view the lights. Beautiful! Small kiosk serving hot drinks, definitely good idea to get something warm to drink for the lovely walk around gardens. Also provided is a warming tent.
One of my Favourite places to go in Lethbridge. It is amazing during spring and summer. It is very peacefully and calm atmosphere even though there is a lot going on.
Beautiful And well maintained. Enjoyed a picnic in the park, it was a nice excellent day!!!
The light festival was amazing! Well worth braving the cold for!
I absolutely love the Japanese Gardens, and would definitely recommend going. It's extremely peaceful, and so beautiful. Plus, if you get a chance to see the drumming, that was incredible. Plus, everyone working there was so helpful and knowledgeable. I like to go every summer.
So serene in the summer, the Winter Light Festival is extraordinary in the winter. This garden is wonderful in all seasons! Named one of the top 10 “worth travelling for” in all of North America is not at all surprising! We are so lucky to have this garden in our own backyard!
It's nice but small and not worth 11 dollars per adult.
Its such a gorgeous garden. Kids got a postcard, a cute cookie and a guide book. There was hardly anyone when we visited. We've been to Japan and its hard to find a garden with so few people around. I highly recommend this place!
Beautiful, quiet, and relaxing. A great visit.
Awesome garden. Can't get tired of visiting whenever we are in town. I was lucky to see a local Taiko drum band and hear traditional Japanese stories this summer.
Nice and clean garden.
A magnificent garden. True to Japanese tradition while incorporating vegetation native to the region. I was enthralled and wanted to stay longer. A masterful work. The young people who interpreted the garden were incredible in the best traditions of Japanese culture. Polite, respectful, appropriately deferential to guests. I highly recommend a visit.
Winter offers an extraordinary venue as almost every tree and bush near a pathway will be decorated. Great time is taken to accommodate the venue goers with various propane heaters and fireplaces throughout. One can also get a a hot beverage ( hot chocolate, white hot chocolate, or apple cider, all with optional flavor shot) and cookie included. There are various interactive events going on throughout the evening one may also partake in. Also new this year is sleigh rides. This definitely is a must but ensure you have cash on hand as that part only takes cash. All in all a great way to spend a spare evening.
Peaceful, beautiful and interesting
Small park with Japanese style. But I can't feel a real Japanese taste. Walking several steps and Sitting to have a look, then change a view with every tree . That is a view a step and view changes following your heart.
Peace in an unpeaceful world.
So beautiful .very nice place so peaceful
Always beautiful
It's peaceful and pretty. When we went it was relatively quiet. It's a pretty small garden though.
Beautiful but small
Beautiful place to visit and decompress.
It's peaceful, provides nostalgia moments from time abroad and kind staff. They're always putting on events that are refreshing from the everyday norm.
A very beautiful place
Peaceful, beautiful, relaxing.
A winter day with hundreds of ducks and geese on the lake. Very interesting sight.
Serene, meditative, calming. Rocks, sculptured trees, trickling water, peace.
Beautiful place. I expected a little more for the price to get in but that’s okay. The gardens are beautiful and I liked looking at the items in the little building.
This is beautiful and peaceful Japanese garden . Amazing landscaping and well preserved . Very peaceful . We visited during noon but , it will be better if the visit was early morning so you can enjoy more peace. You can sit and enjoy the peace and environment . Listen to the sound the flowing water. It is not very large can cover within a maximum of 40 mts. I truly wish if it could be expanded.
It is a real taste of traditional Japanese style garden!
I'm an employee. Really enjoy my job.
Absolutely love it one think they missing is actually restaurant when you can seat and eat traditional Japanese food
The winter light show was absolutely amazing and New year's for the ringing of the Bell couldn't be any more beautiful and traditional, thank you for another great year 2020
SUPER friendly staff and the garden will take your breath away. If you can get in on the guided tour it is well worth waiting for. They say it is worth visiting on 5 different occasions: a day from each season and at least one rainy day. We will be back!
Quite a nice place if you're looking to unwind and go for a relaxing walk
