We've got all the opinions of real people who know the products and services of Fort Langley National Historic Site of Canada (Tourist Attraction) in the area close to Langley (Canada).
At the present the business receives a score of 4.5 stars out of 5 and this rating is based on 127 reviews.
You must have seen that it has an average rating is nearly the top, and it's based on a high number of feddbacks, so we may be pretty sure that the rating is very faithful. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they've done well, it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to give evaluations when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Tourist Attraction is included in the category of Historical landmark.
A beautiful piece of history! We visited during the afternoon of July 30, 2017. The building and grounds are well maintained with good information easy to find. The staff are friendly and helpful. On warm summer day, an outdoor patio, or beer garden would be great! There's a restaurant in one of the historical buildings, but it was quite full and on a warm day, I'd rather be outside.
We camped in the cabin/tent overnight and had a great time in the fort! Clean and convenient facilities including washroom and outdoor kitchen. Communal campfire with plenty of bench seating for the families. Farm animals and small vegetable garden for the kids.
I had a great experience as a first time visitor from UK plus many thanks to one of guidance the name of AMINE ,was really knowldge and helpful too
Always super enjoyable to be here. Sadly not everything is accessible. But still super wonderful and just astonishing to be inside of this huge place.
Great place for kids and adults to learn!
The blacksmith is very informative and always interesting to watch. We go there every time we are in the area. It is a great area and has lots of cool things to do. They have added a lot for kids to do too.
The fort is a wonderful place to go to learn about historic Fort Langley. I also highly recommend their Grave Tales tour. What a fun way to get spooked (and learn about some of the prominent historical figures who founded the community) during Halloween season!
Good place to spend a couple hours with kids. Informative and has live period costumes staff. You can rent one of the tent style houses if you are into that.
While on my well deserved holiday I went to Fort Langley National Historic Side. It was a beautiful day to enjoy the site but the customer service was exceptional! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff members. Thank you for making my day special. Highly recommend visiting this beautiful place.
Great paddling on the Fraser! Easy access parking. Shops and restaurants within walking. Gorgeous neighbourhood.
Great place to stay and visit. Fun for the whole family
This place was really improved in compare with the last year which I visited for the first time. Very beautiful and well organized for ages from young kids to seniors. $7.5 per person above 17 and free for below it. There is a discount for seniors.
This is a piece of history that you would really enjoy to see how people lived back in the day
Cool little town with a number of boutique stores. Fort Langley Historic site. Langley Cultural Museum and the BC Farm Museum.
Fort Langley is one of our favourite places to visit locally. Such a hidden little jem!
I haven't seen a blacksmith at work since I was a kid. They have one to demonstrate how blacksmiths of the Hudson's bay company would have built tools. This was the first fort I have seen made out of wood. The ghost stories we hear about this place can be true. At least from the looks of the place. They do keep guests if you are interested :)
Remarkably important historical site for British Columbia. This was not a military fort, but a Hudson Bay Company trading fort. Very good historical information, displays, and some interesting activities. Not large, but worth a 1-2 hour visit. Good for kids, too (both human and goat versions).
We visited Fort Langley on a weekday, so it was not busy, we often were the only people in the room which helped to create the feeling of being present in that historical moment. I enjoyed how well simulated was the in-house environment, how things fit in place. Even though there's only one original building left (the rest is a reconstruction), you still get this feeling of diving into the real history. And we also learned a lot as you can literally explore each and every corner of every building. Highly recommend! Just choose the visit day/time wisely.
A great place to learn about the history of British Columbia
This little old town is magical! There are tons of really cool stores to explore. Also there are a few coffee shops with incredible baked goods. There's everything from vintage store, to chocolate store. You can walk around in the main streets and grab icecream from the icecream store. Thanks!
So much history at this National historic site. The staff are great, fun, dressed up, know the history of the area. Something for everyone.
Fun family place with lots of history and especially great for kids and history enthusiasts to learn about the birthplace of British Columbia.
What a fun experience! Hands on ☺. Give yourself at least two hours to appreciate the grounds.
Cute, quaint little area with some great coffee shops and eateries. Well worth a visit!
The interpretation of this site is quite thorough. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The site was under construction, but the buildings that were open were presented in a beneficial manner. Would re-visit in the future.
So nice place to walk, shop, and eat!
Fort Langley is a great place to go and walk around. It is my favourite place to go for a walk. The fort itself is well maintained with knowledgeable staff. They put on great events here, going to the fort for BC Day is a must.
Interesting spot to learn about the birthplace of BC
I've always liked Fort Langley. It was a beautiful day for the beer festival!
Great for the family time....
Nice, busy full of people.
The birthplace of British Columbia. Explore life in an Hudson's Bay trading fort with costumed characters. Check for special events such as Canada Day.
Really amazing historical site to visit. Fun for the whole family and interactive tours make it extremely engaging and insightful. Thank you!
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Fort Langley is a perfect place for all those people that search atmosphere, for those who love ablast from the past. Free ticket for all 2017, for the 150° anniversary of Canada ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Great historical and fun experience! Good cafe too!
rained so hard while there that the walk around became a run around. Well go back again on a nice day
A really fun visit in a beautiful area all around and a gorgeous historical town. So much fun. We visited with a toddler and there was limited indoor space for playing and accessing some manipulatives related to the history. A fantastic place for older kids learning about the fur trade, etc. A great place to spend some time, that's for sure.
Such a cool history of the Hudson bay fur trade in this area. The fort is so well preserved and the local guides are very knowledgeable.
Well done Historic site, with a really great group of actor/staff members!
Going here is like traveling back in time. Staff wear period pieces and are very informative. Take your time and explore.
An interesting local bit of history. Fraser canyon war? Fur trade in Langley? Miners being jerks to the locals? Learn it all with the guidance of costumed players. Cool spot to bring elementary aged kids!
Lotz of history here and im a nerd for it. The fort is really cool and its nice thay everyone is so knowledgeable history nerds rejoice as there is a fair amount here and it was fun to learn it! If you arent into history I guess this really isnt for you but lots can be learned!
I grew up in the village and visited the Fort several times a year. I always enjoyed the staff in their historic outfits and learning about the origins of the HBC.
You will discover some interesting facts about Hudson's Bay
Very nice place to visit. The access to the buildings is limited now, but it's still worth the visit.
This museum has been maintained to give a glimpse of how one lives in the 18th century. There is lots to learn and enjoy at the same time. Educational for both adults and children. Animals to feed, by donation. Gold panning, nice for taking a picnic.
Perfect spot to spend time with your kids
Love this place nice people lots of fun
beautiful destination for a picnic. Lots of shade trees, easy to get to. The museum is interesting, but we usually come here for lunch after a "Circle Farm Tour" of artisanal food producers.
Great place to learn about the original multicultural start to Vancouver. Shows how life was at the Hudson's Bay trading fort. Includes a barrel making building, blacksmith, and other early industries. Great for children and adults.
Lovingly staffed, clean, fun, goats
Small sites for adventure. Try to book a Ghost tour at 9 p.m. Some buildings were closed for tourists. My suggestion is book a tour with guide. The stuff in costume know very well the history of the place and neighborhood.
I was there with the Canucks Autism Network and it is fun there in the fort
Visited for the EPIC Grave Tales Tour. WOW. this was pure fun and our tour guide was spell-binding.
Loved the history and the live demonstrations. There is a great activity booklet for children to keep them interested. Easy to spend the day. Also stayed overnight which was lovely
Great place to learn about Hudson Bay Company and how they helped build this country. Great museum to explore with actors walking around dressed and acting like it was long ago. My kids loved it, been a few times.
Free admission for 2017. Worth to go this year.
Amazing place to visit for an afternoon. They have exhibits, knowledgeable actors and demonstrations to keep you busy for most of a day. You can even camp over night. It's worth mentioning that there are several buildings that in fact older than Canada. One the lower mainlands must see historic sites. Free parking means that you can also visit the bc farm museum nearby as well, which is also pretty interesting with lots of cool old equipment you can get up to, touch and sometimes get into.
Take a step back to the infancy of British Columbia and see how life was like in the days of the gold rush. Learn about the history of the province through storytelling and skits. The surrounding town offers many coffee shops, restaurants and unique souvenir shops to round out your day trip out to The Fort.
Facility still open during the pandemic but with limited services.
Very beautiful and interesting place. The staff is nice and very professional and you can learn a lot
Amazing pice of BC history. Worth visiting.
It was a nice afternoon but a lot of the site was under construction. If the weather is decent it's worth a trip.
Always love visiting Fort Langley, great for family outings and always full of information about our history
Nice museum to learn about early Canadian fur industry and the way peaple were living.
Great place! Feels like your in a movie!! Enjoy a nice walk by the river while learning about the history of Fort Langley! If you’re near the area, stop by and enjoy a nice walk and support the locals!
Nice to see one time but pretty boring. Could have more interactions. 1 blacksmith working at his station but the rest of the place was quiet and nothing going on.
Ghost tours at the Fort! What an experiance!!
Such a great place to take the family! Be sure to take mosquito repellant!!!! It was a great time and will be going again with thr family!
I loved going here! The staff was very well informed and friendly! Great place to take kids to learn about history.
Beautiful trip to Fort Langley today it was nice to be there in the middle of the week and be able to not have a crowd. This trip was a hit for the kids. Lots of space to run and lots of history for them to enjoy. There is a fun kids play area that was informative and interactive. Although the majority of the fort is the same year after year it’s nice to see the kids pick up more with new visits. Friendly staff, watching the blacksmith make nails was super interesting and learning what life was like 150+ years ago was neat.
Wow! Great food. Great service. Tough parking. Worth the effort.
What an amazing play ground and museum. It is so much fun for adults and children to visit this place so much to do. We love bringing new friends all the time.
Love Canadian history? This is an awesome local attraction. Lots of activities for the family. Plus, it's fun walking around the local community. Easy to spend a day here.
It is great place to learn about bc history!
Fun staff that was very interactive! The blacksmith is really great with entertaining the kids! Although due to Covid you can’t enter any of the buildings it was still super cool!
We've been several times and there's always very informative employee's to teach you about the history of the site. There is a lot to see and it's very interactive. Lots of space to roam around and stroller friendly, which is nice.
The Fort to Fort trail is nice for a Sunday stroll. Very easy, it is popular for family or to walk your dog. Perfect for exercise after brunch.
Great place to learn about the old fort. A few of the buildings were closed when we went, however the odd demonstration was still occurring. Good for a quick visit, probably best on weekends when more stuff is happening. An interesting insight into the history of Fort Langley, good for kids and adults alike.
Cool place! Ample free parking. Interesting experience for kids age 4 and up, as well as adults.
There were only 3 in costume but im sure it is due to covid and weather. Blacksmith was really interesting and knew quite a bit about history
It's an amazing place to spend the day with your family. I came here with my little cousins (4 and 5 years old) and we had a day full of fun things to do and learn about the beginning of British Columbia. Our favorite part was the animals (goats, sheep, rabbits and chickens) but the whole trip was very enjoyable! I highly recommend for a family day.
Small but peaceful and beautiful Fort Langley has one more thing to offer. This historical site provides a glimpse view of historical fort living. More fun activities or things to see inside the fort could be added in my opinion. Good location for casual weekend visit.
It feels really good vibe at this place! I’m pregnant and I have to walk around. My husband and I had the idea to go here. It was great. Staff are really friendly and well knowledge about the 1840’s going on here! I was surprise about the new coffee shop and Ice cream! The washrooms very clean and may chair to sit outside if you get tired. I was very happy on my date here. My husband got scared when we found inside a house a guy dressed like oldies times... lol!!!
Loved the quick last minute visit. Reasonably priced too. Do read the panels and brochure on the walk, this helps understanding with the time period of living 150 yrs ago on the coast. Large interior museum for young children too. Well stocked cafe with plenty of tables, could take a packed lunch too. Tour took about an hour to walk thru. Good family outing with no parking fees. 5 stars.
Not a large place, but pretty interesting. Lots of school kids. Staff were great! Staying overnight was interesting. Clean and well kept facilities. A bit loud with the kids and train.
Not big but cute; close to the community.
We had great fun there.........very historical place to be...will definitely come back again.
Wish I would have saw this place before the covid restrictions, but either way they did a great job and we learned alot.
Great place for kids (and adults). It’s fairly quiet at the moment and the gift shop & cafe weren’t open when I visited. It’s a lovely place away from the hustle and bustle of the Main Street. Bring sunscreen on a sunny day!
Great place for people who like historical places. The city is quite aesthetic and so cute! There are so many different shops all round the streets *_*
Only public washroom we could find in this town!
Very interesting history and great displays. I learned a lot about the story of British Columbia and the fur trade on the Fraser River
Interesting place. 5 overnight oTENTik camping. A bit pricy thought $120/night.
Did the Halloween walk... It was informative and exciting!
Very friendly staff, informative and able to answer any questions about the history of Fort Langley. The black Smith was excellent!
The site is a great place to stay the night. If you can get there on a weekday there's practically no one there so it's like you have the whole place to yourself. The oTENTik service is really convenient since they provide the gear you need save for personal items like sleeping bags and food. Be warned though, the place is right next to the CP Railway, so expect train horns waking you up every now and then. In the daytime the visitor center is staffed by very knowledgeable people and it's a great learning experience.
Nice place to spend time with kids. Recommend for those who want to know about the old lives when BC had initiated.
I love seeing historical sites, to have the feeling of recreating the past and seeing the prior instances that occurred there is amazing. The fact that you can actually sleep over at the site is very unique. We definitely want to go back for the Night event or sleeping over would be a unique experience.
Suitable for kids and families to visit!
Fantastic historic site with lots of activities for the kids and interesting history to learn. My kids in particular loved the gold panning activity. I wish there was more focus on the Indigenous peoples who lived here at the time and the experience of settler/Indigenous relations.
The place provides a glimpse into the history of Canada.
Very beautiful place
A small village with authentic vintage vibe. We enjoyed our walks from building to building. Each has a charming character and generously educating. It certainly a realization that when it comes to history, there is so much to be appreciated.
Always a fantastic place to visit. Friendly staff and always informative. Great memories here. They also do special events, birthdays and as well as camping.
Interactive villagers show you how life was lived back when the Fort was in use. Barrel making, Blacksmith, Trading post are tended and explained to visitors. Not as large as Fort Edmonton, but a good 1-2 hour visit here is interesting and they have a few bunnies, goats and chickens to see as well. On weekends there are more children's activities.
Historic site with several activities for kids.
Great Information about early trading. Oldest building in BC 1849.
Love this place , beautiful back drop filled with history .I'm looking forward to camping with the little ones once things reopen. This place seeps history .Who know you might even be lucky enough to see a ghost ,so I'm told many roam here day or night .Enjoy your a private tent already set up and roast some marshmallows at the fire pit. ????
It's fun to see the history of the area, and the "actors" are knowledgeable and great to interact with. Definitely "small" - but when you remember that this is exactly what fort living was like... it actually helps you feel more of what the people felt years ago. Im glad they haven't tried to "modernize" or make fort more "glamorous" than it really was.
Top notch. Living museum where you can touch every thing. Nothing is roped off. Put on the costumes of the time and play along.
This is a beautiful, peaceful, and pristine historic site definitely worth a one-day visit.
Nice place to spend time especialy with kids. You can tray and se how was chocholaté made 150 Yeats ago. Place is wheelchair and disable people friendly. #letsguide
We have been to the Graves Tales tours recently and it was amazing. The passionate staff, the setting of the historical town and Fort made it very interesting and the stories were captivating and well-researched. I loved the elements of information about the First Nations and will definitely be going back for the 3H tour next year!
Free admission. (2017) A historical site showing how Hudson's Bay traded and shipped goods and how people lived back then.
Who knew that Hawaiians were some of the original settlers of BC? Not me! Did you know that furs and pelts all had different values but they were all valued in terms of the most valued pelt of all? - the beaver! Do you know why hatters were mad? Come learn about history in an atmosphere that every kid will love.
Panning is awesome
Fantastic afternoon with awesome information about a time in Canadian history that we didn't know all that much about. The interpreters were superb and sharing their insights and making things come alive
Great lil Town, with nice character. Didn't have time for fort, but will be back
We arrived too early to check into our hotel, so we dropped by this historic site. If you have a Parks Canada pass, you get free admission! Totally worth a visit. I had a great conversation with a staff member who is writing a research paper on medicine in the 1800's. The blacksmith was also engaging and informative. Then I paused to listen to a docent giving a tour and talking about the role Metis people played in fort life. The things you learn make this place enjoyable. My kids loved the indoor play area. They got to pretend to paddle a canoe, trade goods, and haul bales of fur. They also liked looking at the lambs, goat kids, bunnies, and chickens.
I’ve been here many times as a kid but now that I’ve seen more behind the scenes and stuff it’s a lot more interesting. The staff are very very good at staying in character and can even speak French, they are also very knowledgeable about the history of what they are teaching about not just talking off a script of some kind. All the heritage sites and housing is really cool and if you’re lucky you can get a coat hanger from the blacksmith. There’s also sometimes maple taffy that you can make that’s really really good. You can also just pour maple syrup on snow and then pick it up with a stick and eat it. They have lots of interactive things as well that’s are really neat. You can check out different beaver pelts and sieve for gold. The store and bathrooms are also really cool to check out, they’re overpriced but literally every tourist location has that problem so it’s not really much of an issue.
Historical place. Felt the smell of he past. Recommend!
Fort Langley is one the the places i like to visit, the food is so good and everyone there is happy, i love the hat shop here.it is a good a relaxing place to visit
Always a good place to hung out with kids and friends. Calm, relax, and don't worry about parking.
Good for kids to learn history
A fur trading fort operated by the Hudsons Bay Company two hundred years ago. Knowledge staff wearing period clothing. They are outstanding at welcoming and explaining their occupation - blacksmith, baker, livestock keeper. You can pan for 'gold', pet the goats and sheep. A quiet place. COVID19 is curtailing activities such as the theater, hands-on center for children and the cafe. You can buy items made by a blacksmith. Free for children. The more time you take the more you will enjoy it. Don't rush. Get to know the workers. By the way, all of them are bilingual.
Fun for all ages to learn about our Canadian history at the fort.
Beautiful historic place to visit.
Interactive and informative recreation of life at the fort the canoe and red river cart are fabulous great knowledgeable friendly staff ???? ???? ????
Great place to visit especially if you have kids. They have knowledgeable staff and some activities for kids. Unfortunately not all houses were completely open to visit due to COVID 19 restrictions.
Always a great place to walk around with the family.
The Fort Langley Historic Site is a great way to spend an afternoon. You are able to see buildings and demonstrations from the early days of the Fort. The staff are extremely helpful and willing answer all of your questions. I have been a few times to visit and will be back for sure.
Fort Langley is awesome to visit and they have many interesting activities for kids. However, it is only interesting and fun on the first visit, I found that it is quite drab on the second or third visit as their activities don't change. I do recommend walking around the town because there are many wonderful shops and cafès!
Went during the brief face covering reprieve. Was still asked to wear a mask. Welcome to the Marxist future; ruining the past. Wait till after the next election and hope for some sanity.
We had a great field trip to the Fort!
Really impressed highlight from the past its recommended
Great place, you could smell and fell the history of this place, unfortunately, we couldn’t access in the building just look from outside.
We had an amazing experience to explore pice of BC 's history.
Lovely place to go. Pick a sunny Sunday and spend quality time. Check the Antique Market, the art gallery and simple pick a place to eat, anything will be pleasant.
A wonderful piece of history preserved on the Fraser River.
Great place to learn history of British Columbia. Parking bit limited however if your early or patient, there's always spot available.
Great day trip in from Van city. Very affordable admission. Great little history lesson from the people that work there
This is a great historic place to visit and makes fort Langley get its name. There are about 6 different houses that can visited these all show the various trades that support the Fort in its history. The venue offers birthday parties as well
Lots to do and open practically every day of the year! We thoroughly enjoyed talking to the volunteers and staff and learning all about the fort. History comes alive here!
Great place to spend the day. Great views and nice place to take ur kids. Learn about history. They have blacksmith and he was awesome.did not know plan a birthday party there. They have small cafe if u need to grab a bite. Plenty of parking.
We had so much fun here. It was a great place to spend with my family. (No children) to learn and see our history. Wheelchairs available and lots of places to sit.
Historic site with a lot of information on the life style and tools used by First Nations and Hudson Bay Company.
I've been here a few times now and always appreciate learning about British Columbia's creation story. This is very much a family friendly environment. If you want to learn about BC's formative years, then you'll enjoy this.
Love the vibes of Fort Langley. Really nice place to take a walk around and have a cup of coffee
Fun to stay one night
LOVE this place, not just for the educational aspect, but the surrounding nature, the staff, the culture... the overall atmosphere is great. Certainly something you would want to go to, take your time, walk through it all and enjoy!
Such a lovely and clam place Historic site is pretty good for history knowledge, clean place, prices are reasonable... enjoyed
So much amazing history
So much to see, do, explore in Fort Langley!!
Very informative and a great little day walk I would recommend it for anyone
Nice for a change.
Beautiful town with lovely buildings nice food places too a great day out
I love Fort Langley! Great little shops and so much to see and do. I wish I lived closer I would be there every weekend.
Lots of fun! Many activities and things to see and explore! Fun family place with a superb atmosphere and staff! Large fire on Center, history rich, well kept! Good price!
Great place to visit with kids! Lots of fun activities and very educational!
I like the fact that there are actual people there dressed up in costumes and doing what people used to do in the fort. Gold panning won't give you any gold though.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Came during the off season and during covid. A few buildings were closed for safety I.e. children's building and the cafeteria.
Refreshingly historical place... great to visit for a stroll and to learn about the life of the people who built BC. The blacksmith and the cooperage are a must see!
Visit the Fort, then browse shops in the town. Lovely afternoon.
Great place to visit
Nice historic place with great wheelchair accessibility! They have ramps into each part of the fort and for the main house an elevator to go upstairs. The camping tents which one can reserve include one that is wheelchair accessible too with an accessible port a potty next to it.
Annual Cranberry Festival was the biggest ever, great food, great homemade everything...LOVE LOVE IT!!!!
A nice place to spend time to learn about history
The Fort Langley National Historic Site is a fantastic place to go with your family for the day or you can book an overnight stay at their O-tentic campsites, which are a nicer way to camp. There is a good cafe on the site & lots of activities for kids. You can also get a souvenir at the gift shop!
It's an old but new colonial town. Lots of people walking around and in the shops and there are a alot of places to eat or drink coffee.
Wonderful display of Britsh Columbia's history.
Amazing place. The black Smith was very knowledgeable and interesting. We went on the 24th of December
A lower-mainland must-see attraction! I took a self-guided tour with my family and every one of us thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Entrance fees are low, and whether you go on a slow day like we did or during peak season, it is worth every penny. It is fun just to learn about historical life—and there is much to learn from the exhibits alone—but to witness it firsthand is a wonder! The actors performing reenactments were a delight. They love their craft and it shows in the skill and knowledge that they demonstrate in performing and explaining the daily duties of a bygone era. This is a great place that both adults and children are sure to love.
A beautiful place to have a stroll, dine, visit museums, shop and much more!
Cute place to take kids. friendly staff and clean place. My kids loved it.
One of the most beautiful places in the lower mainland that holds such historical value. So much history from so many different cultures in 1 beautiful place
Great place if you want to visit the birthplace of BC. Incredibly friendly staff.
Interesting place, It’s in my backyard and never been and had a day to kill so went . The old buildings and displays are great, very good for a family visit
A piece of art , I was there for a movie shoot . And they have the costume of 1800’s if you are in fashion industry you must go there . You will see piece of art . I used some pieces in the movie and loved the look of it
Beautiful place!
I absolutely adore this place! My first visit to a real fort. Tons of history to be found here and it's maintained very well! Staff are dressed in appropriate historical attires and are knowledgeable. Don't miss out the orientation walk.
Fort Langley has a comfort and old-time charm that keeps me coming back. Great shops, bakeries and restaurants line the streets. Try Blacksmith Bakery or the cafe at Wendell's Books!
Langley, a village like a museum. The trail at the river is very relaxing.
Great experience for the whole family. Plan for 2-3 hours with the audio guide. Great guides/actors answer any additional questions. Highly recommend.
Well worthwhile driving for
Nice place, would love to see it with more staff
Beautiful at Jazz and Blues Festival
Nice park
This is a really nice open air heritage museum. However, be aware that it's really small and you'll be walking through the Fort in 30 min max. The little idyllic town has quite a few coffee shops and restaurants to visit though!
Small place but choc-ful of history. Nice place to learn of trading way back when.
Fort Langley is awesome to visit and they have many interesting activities for kids. However, it is only interesting and fun on the first visit, I found that it is quite
A place worth visiting
Really liked it to visit this place. We took the guided tour and it did a big difference, we learnt interesting historical details.
A pleasant few hours here, just wandering around the buildings and the main grounds. Some buildings closed and some limited access because of covid. Very quiet and nice to talk to the staff, not rushed at all. A good day out here in the town as well.
Went on a school field trip. We had a marvelous time. My students loved completing all the challenges and were thrilled to be able to see and touch real furs. This is a definite must if you are studying the Fur Trade. The staff was excellent and helpful.
Most of the site appears open again after covid. There were a couple items still closed, but I think I got most of the experience as intended. Spend some time with the blacksmith, that was absolutely awesome. The fellow performing the blacksmith role is very knowledgeable and approachable. He has a way of drawing you in to his story, even my 3 year old was fully engaged.
Great place to learn the history and the life of people in the past.
Great history, was worth the drive over 50 kilometers to get there and back.
It's free to visit for 2015 must see for the you and the family. Staff are the best
not all sites were open , staff was lacking for questions, but great for a picnic or children to play around. bring your own sanitizer though as they don't wipe provide or disinfect after
In all honesty it is an okay experience. I went close to closing time and the most interesting thing was the blacksmiths shop because the gentleman was able to share a lot of the history. The other buildings did not offer much to look at. If this is something that interests you then I recommend that you get a guided tour.
We took part in the 9 o'clock Grave tales tour and very pleased with the presentation, the history and the vast area the tour covers. You visit the town hall, the cemetery, and several other significant stops before returning to the fort to hear the last of the tales. I would highly recommend this to anyone with an interest in history and or the paranormal. Bring good walking shoes.
Beautiful, romantic
Great place to see some of our BC/Canada History or just meet up with friends for coffee/lunch and a walk around Fort Langley it self. Highly recommended place to visit at least once.
Interesting history from the 1850's.
Historic fort
Learn some of British Columbia's rich history here by exploring Fort Langley, a National Historic site of Canada. Some of the buildings here are original while others have been reconstructed and there is a lot of stuff here for people of all ages.
Totally recommend renting the audio speaker so you can play it while you walk around. You have to hold the speaker to your ear so each person in the group would need one. If you arrive at the right time, there may even be fresh bannock! It was fun to envision what life was like back then.
Good place to take people who don’t know the history of fur trading in Canada. Not as interesting for someone who grew up here and learned these things in school.
Looks nice enough. Tbh we were just there for sledding on the outside field.
An important part of Langley’s history, the Fort is worth a visit. Costumed staff demonstrate the various activities which took place at the Fort when it was in operation. Not as nice as Fort Edmonton, so don’t expect that level of experience.
Very informative historical site. There is a lot to do and learn. It’s a perfect place for families. Beware of the mosquitos in summer, they are hungry!
Always so fun to visit! Don't forget to visit the town of Fort Langley and get a scoop or 2 at the diner in the corner. Lots of small shops and vintage stores to browse in.
3 buildings are closed because of covid 19, the children's, the theater, and kitchen. There are public washrooms ????, clean. There is a man sitting among the barrels very knowledgeable about the fur trade and dressed the part. Another lady in the same building made a hat she is in a painting in another building. You can pan for gold, yes there are tiny nuggets, I found, 2 others I was with found gold that was exciting, it rained all day but still exciting to see it. Went to buildings how the people lived bear skin on the floor, cooking stove. Spoke to a lady how she took a picture of a family to find a spirit of a little boy also in the it. The buildings are old I think 1839 but I might be wrong. Yes the fort is worth visiting even in the rain. This is not the original place where the fort was built but just think it's like going back in time.
What a great place. A good history lesson for both my boys who are 6 and 8 years old. They have a scavenger hunt type of game that the kids can play while going around the fort. They have employees walking around dressed in clothing that would have been worn in the 1840s. Everyone here is so helpful and friendly. Big shout out to the wonderful lady working in the cafeteria area. She is so sweet. The ice cream is really yummy as well. Will bring the kids back again.
An absolutely beautiful place to go. There are many places to shop, walk or eat wherever you are situated in town. There is something for everyone within the few block radius. I enjoy going to Fort Langley when it’s raining because while it’s ugly outside the people who frequent it can’t seem to let the weather get them down.
Only had 3 people in character, was expecting more for a Saturday. At least you can go into the buildings even though it's Covid time
Clearly indigenous reconciliation has not yet reached Fort Langley. I was very disappointed to learn the history of BC in the "big house" through the eyes of colonial settlers with nearly no indigenous perspectives. The only indigenous person present in the scene our school children acted out was the "First Nations Chief" who didn't even have a name! All the settlers/Europeans present had their names in the script while the First Nations Chief was named just that, and had only 2 or 3 small, meaningless lines to say. I think it's past due time to have some local indigenous elders from the Fort Langley area attend this play and share their indigenous perspectives on the same story and have those integrated into the scene for the school children to learn about. Indigenous reconciliation means indigenous perspectives of history must be taught to our children! No more hiding truths here, let us hear the child friendly version of both accounts; settlers AND indigenous peoples.
Very interesting historical place to visit. Would love to camp there as well
Very cool. Tons of information and helpful characters of the time period to share the history. Worth the time. Didn't get to eat in the cafe but it looked delicious. Salmon chowder with bannock.
Cute place to check out with the family! We walked around the old town, read about the history of some places, and browse through an antique store. There’s also a path along the water and a bridge you can cross. The supermarket there is great too.
Really impressive, really worth its place as a national historic site considering its role in British Columbian History, great staff who know there stuff.
Fort langley is a great place. With the history of the Fort and great restaurants and cafes as well as antique and boutique shops there is something for everyone.
It’s a very exciting place for first time visit, and kids loved it coz so many rooms and stairs to go to. But for the second visit kids knows what’s in the rooms about so the fun is much less. Some animals are in the cage only in summer which is a bonus. Very recommend for the first time visitors especially for kids.
Just want to give some love to the museum--my wife discovered her Great-Grandfather yesterday, after seeing a portrait on the side of a building that had a familiar last name. The details seemed to possibly fit, so we found the museum and a wonderful staff member, Grace, came to see us at the door and invited us in. She asked the curator about it, and they gave us the file on this gentleman, and it was amazing for my wife to see all these details about her ancestors--they were gracious enough to copy some documents for her, and then Grace showed us some web photos they have online of members of my wife's family from years gone by. Can't say enough about how friendly, helpful, and kind Grace was to us--we will be back again to check out more of the museum!
If you wanna discover the history of BC this is the place you need to visit
Here for summer set festival but been here for for before it's awesome
Not a "real" fort in that sense, since it was actually a trading post at the time, but well kept, and takes you back in time. A couple of areas/sections are closed off due to Covid but most of the buildings are open to the public. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area, expect to spend an interesting hour or two.
The blacksmith is amazing and if you bring something (not money) they will trade a metal item for it. It’s so fun, my 5 year old is obsessed and my 3 year old enjoys all the spaces. We love having meet ups with friends especially with the coffee shop being in the Fort and it’s open space and one way in and out.
Nice place to feel the history and is also so romantic.
Great place for touring, dinners and coffee shops
This is truly a historical site that everyone would enjoy seeing and learning BC's history. I learned some things about my own people (kwakiutl) and the connection to the fort. All staff are so knowledgeable about the happenings that took place at the fort. I highly recommend to visit.
Lovely town. If you'd like a little getaway from busy cities and would like to explore cute local cafes and antique shops, this is it.
Love visiting this place..very peaceful atmosphere.
I like this place! It’s great to come and visit and learn more about the history of our country. I wish there was more to see though, so one could get more value for the admission paid.
Great to walk, eat & shop
Was very interesting. Tour was nice an informative. Lots of hands on for all.
Very interesting afternoon at Fort Langley. Staff are dressed in period costumes and it is an ideal place for schools as there are games and tasks to keep children amused. The working blacksmith is a really interesting. Entrance fee is minimal.
Great experience learing about the areas history. Staff were friendly and informative.
Awesome place awesome people. You can rent a tent for 120$ a night there and enjoy the fort.
I take all my foreign visitors to Fort Langley. The work done to replicate the way the early settlers lived back then is great. I believe it is part of our patrimoine and still influences us today. The little village also transpires of the early way of life in a later era. And it is Affordable!!! Not like most tourists attractions...
Great atmosphere, nice to walk around :)
Went for Grave Tales and it was super fun and informative! We also got to walk around the town of Fort Langley and hear a lot of different ghost stories throughout the evening! I would definitely go visit again for both Grave Tales and a regular visit!
Concert was poorly organized. I played for VIP tickets and they said it was for seating which there wasn't any and was situated to the far left of stage. I played more for better seating and got worse seating general admiration had front of stage. What did I pay extra money for. I feel very cheated and I'm not the only person that feels that way. I could and would have organized seating proper.who goes to a concert and pays for better seating and gets less
Fun!
Explore Canada's history by walking through this HBC fort from the 1800s. Dressed up characters from the era explains thoroughly the history behind every single piece of equipment and buildings on site. But COVID means you can't walk through any of the buildings, which is quite unfortunate. For those with annual passes from last year, the government extended the validity of the pass by 4 months! Make sure if it while you can!
Awesome piece of recreated Canadian culture. Weill worth the price of admission
Not a huge place but the workers were very knowledgeable and shared tons of interesting facts. Several buildings were closed due to covid.
Wonderful look back into Canadian History
Asome place to go vistit have ice cream
Worth a visit. I can't believe that a lot of my friends who have lived in Metro Vancouver for many years, do not know this place existed. Full of history and good for kids (and adults too) to find out how BC came into existence.
Pretty cool place, will be visiting after covid when you can walk around inside the buildings as well!
Had a great time on this year's Grave Tales tour. Our guide Amon was excellent and very interesting to listen to. It books up really fast and I can see why.
Cute little historic site. Very small though. A little more information and a bit more in depth would be good but a good reminder of the areas history. Not many staff around at all. Would have been nice to have a bit more interaction especially in the exhibits.
Love this small gem. Green lush area with restaurants and stores spread everywhere...
Great place covid aside. Right now they don't let you in the buildings. You can still talk to people there from door ways. Overall a fun day combined with exploring the rest of fort langleys shops.
Lovely little small town feel... great independent coffeehouses, restaurants and boutiques. Its a wonderful place to be so you can enjoy a few hours away from all of lifes hustles and bustle.
Nice historic city to visit.
