Staff is very nice and fast. The hotel has a nice old vibe. The restaurant is very nice. Rooms are clean and beds are very comfy. Did not have an issue with lack of a/c and tv. There should have been more outlets in the room for charging mobile devices and wifi was a little slow. Overall I had a good experience. Would stay here again.

Beautifully located. The hotel is old and in desperate need of a revamp. Beds are short window sills are dirty and full of dead flies carpet is gross. The enamel on the tub is chipping and ceiling has mould... toiletries are wonderful and I was happy to take them all

The historical part ws a treat and the retro part that was cool. A patchwork of different devades. It needs a really good cleaning. The air vents were dusty and the style seemed tired. However, service and dining were excellent.

Grand old log hotel, great location. Food, drinks and waiting staff good. BUT, desperately in need of a complete refurbishment AND very poor standards of cleanliness. Moved from our original room as it was so dusty, dirty and dilapidated, the second room in the 'modern' wing was little better - dust everywhere, floors not vacuumed, toilet seat broken and urine stained, drifts of fluff in the uncarpeted parts of the corridors. No management on site that we could find and had to complain the the groups corporate HQ by email.

Booked this room after staying at the Fairmont since my friend couldn't book us another night there. We paid $300 for the night. We expected a cozy and charming room as advertised, while also understanding the historic significance of the property and that it may lack in modern touches. WELL!! I walked in and I was shocked. I don't think the $300 room I paid for ever made the cut on the Deer Lodge website. It was super dark and dingy. There was one outlet preoccupied by a lamp. No mini fridge, coffee maker or kettle. No bathroom counter space. A mirror behind the door that you cannot see yourself in. It literally had zero comforting qualities. No basic necessities. I feel completely scammed into paying that much for the room my friend and I stayed in. The common areas were cute and had rustic details. Our room completely lacked in that area. Zero personal touches. I do not recommend staying here. Oh and the light in our bathroom was two different tones of bulb??? Not a big deal, just again, zero attention to detail.

Staff went above an beyond to make our stay memorable. At dinner we forgot to mention a dairy allergy and the re-cooked the meal and brought an appetizer to tide my wife over until the food arrived. Ignore the negative reviews. Those people had unrealistic expectations.. Deer lodge will be a memorable stay.

Our room was really nice and comfortable, front desk staff was very helpful and accommodating but for the price we paid ($400 a night), I think the hotel can afford updating some of the lobby furniture which looks to be from the 1700s (and not in a good way).

The rooms are very bad as compared to price, there are some better stays with same rate and way better services . No micro , no charging spot near the bed, no press , no drinking water, no tv.

The structure needs renovation, floor on our room was squeaking with every step ( same as the steps on the staircase) and carpets are really old. Staying there makes you feel you are travelling back in time. The staff though is very friendly and accommodating, most especially the ones who run the restaurant.

I looked up this place from Expedia and I love it!! The staff inside were very friendly, they cleaned up the pool and let me use it earlier than the expected time. The food in the restaurant were great as well.

Well, I feel a little catfished; the photos on the website (bookings.com) did not even come close to what we got. The images are of their newly renovated suites while we were initially placed in the historic portion of the building. The historical part looks like something you would see in a museum, and I would not stay there. Small, dingy, rundown, and frankly looked kind of like a dive. Although the room situation was bad, I upgraded to one of the new suites and was happy, but there was still no tv. The staff at the front desk and throughout the hotel were amazing, and the hot tub was excellent with a fantastic view. The new room, staff and hot tub made up for a bad first impression. In the end, it was a good experience, but I'm only giving it two stars as I feel like there is a significant amount of false advertising.

The interior is very reminiscent of a hogwarts dorm. It's all wood and looks like a very aged hotel. However it's super cozy and very nice, and the best part was definitely the jacuzzi they have right outside. Most relaxing jacuzzi I've ever had.

This place has a wonderful ambiance. Food is great, and the price is reasonable. The staff are very courteous. View is amazing. We choose a room with no TV, because we didnt need one, but we do wish there was at least a sitting chair in the room.

The room was creepy,We stayed in one of their family room,no tv,no microwave,room is not well lighted,table is too small,and we had to kneel on the floor to eat,creepy pictures on the wall,mirrors feels like you can see someone at your back because its outdated,do not stay here if you are family that wants to enjoy,stay here in Halloween and its perfect!and its expensive..i will not go back here.and i will not recommend this hotel to my friends and family.thank me later.

The rooftop hot tub was great and featured a beautiful view. The restaurant also featured delicious food.

In my opinion it was a bit over-priced. The carpet in the halls was coming off the floor, some of the doors do not fully shut, the wifi is pretty slow. The hot tub is nice but the jets don't work well. The rooms don't have tv's. But the food was good. Overall the hotel looked like it was starting to fall apart.

Excellent for its location, literally less than 5 min walking from Lake Louise waterfront. Unfortunately, the hotel inside isn't that nice, very old, not updated/renovated in years, no A/C, no fridge/coffee machine/kettle in room. The food is good though Very good! The ladies at the reception were very nice and helpful!

Rustic lodge, kind of feels like you have gone to the Over Look Hotel ( re: The Shining) . Enjoyed looking at the old photos and history of the area. Staff very friendly. Stayed in renovated room with balcony overlooking mount Fairview and could see Mount Victoria. Short walk to Lake Louise so great location. No tv, bed was comfy, room was clean, although renovated needed new comforter. Ate dinner in dining room and had a great meal except for the charcuterie board which was not work the $21.

We just had dinner at the restaurant lounge. The host seemed reluctant to seat our family of four (two small children) at an open seat by the window, for some reason. Dinner was good, but quite pricey - the kids' meal, which included only small cheese pizza (no drink or dessert) was $10. Fish and chips ($18 for two small fish pieces, very big chunky fries, some pickled cabbage and tartar sauce) was delicious. For the quality of food I would have expected prices to be 15-20% cheaper. I imagine location has a lot to do with the cost. Nice cosy setting, lovely garden out the window. The menu is not large but there is one vegetarian option (gnocchi).

If you're looking to stay around the Lake Louise area without breaking the bank, this is your best bet. Quick access to Lake Louise (5 min walk), parking here as a guest will spare you the stress of the constant saturation of cars that come through the Lake Louise parking lot. You're also at a 15 min drive from Moraine lake and a few other hiking trailheads, as well as the village. This venue is noticeably well aged. If you are looking for a luxury stay, and absolutely require a TV and internet to enjoy your vacation, try your luck with the Chateau. The lodge has an old fashioned charm to it, which lends an almost "haunted" vibe in some wings. Units with a balcony are pretty weathered but otherwise clean and comfortable. Balconies do not offer a lot of space, and do not provide a lot of privacy from other guests. The dinner menu is fantastic, paired with a solid wine selection. One of the best dining experiences we've had on our weekend here. The service is also pretty spectacular; Lewis took great care of us that night. However...breakfast was a miss. The disconnect in staff service comes from the front. Although covid and necessary cuts to personnel may be needed in the hospitality industry at this time, it severely hampers the ability of the sole check in attendant to be pleasant, helpful, or efficient. This was truly my only concern from an otherwise great weekend here. This venue is somewhat covid safe (masks were not heavily enforced), parking is great for loading and unloading for guests as it is close to most access points to the building. Not very wheelchair or geriatric accessible; no signs of an elevator.

Disappointing to say the least. With the prices and being a CRMR hotel, we expected a lot more. Safety training (regarding COVID-19), cleanliness, general room upkeep, and staff knowledge about the area need improvement. While the common areas are very charming, the room we were given at check-in was not clean, very noisy, and basically falling apart. It didn't look like anything had ever been updated, the blinds and window crank fell off when trying to open the window, and it was not clean- including the sink drain covered in hair. Really not the kind of attention to cleanliness you want to see, especially during a pandemic. The room was also right beside the stairs, and every step someone took around or above the room was a loud clunking noise. When we asked to be moved to a different room because it was impossible to sleep here, they did so only by charging us an extra $40/night for a 'room upgrade'. A fee for a room that was vacant anyway? We actually stayed at two different hotels before and after this, and both gave us an 'upgrade' for free upon check-in without us asking or saying anything. The room was also not properly stocked- it was missing coffee and cups (to go with the coffee maker in the room), tissues, pillows. Staff overall seemed pretty incompetent. Not rude, just not helpful with things to do in the area, room change, checkout, etc. The second star is for the restaurant- the food was good and staff here were friendly, however both servers on our first night were wearing their masks not covering their nose- concerning to say the least. I would not recommend a stay here.

Run down premises, uncomfortable rooms. We stayed in lodge room, only one electrical outlet in the room, it's located by the side of one of the beds, another bed has no lamp or place where to charge electronics. The room is not equipped with coffee machine, it's available upon request on first come first served basis, but impossible to use because there is no outlet to plug it in near the table where it stands. The room is gloomy and dark. The bathroom is huge, but has no counter space whatsoever. The sink has two separate faucets, cold and hot, and no plug, impossible even to wash hands in warm water, has to be done using either ice cold or scorching hot water. The location is awesome though, and it's the reason for ridiculous price, I guess.

Beautiful views, friendly staff, hot tub made our time! Wifi was not very reliable, a bit noisy and we couldn't regulate the water temperature. In general we had a great time there for our winter getaway!

The hotel is divided in two sections, old and new. At first I had a room in the old section in the third floor (no elevator at the property). The room was tiny and old, with a very strong smell, no power outlets, and slopped to one side. After complaining, I was then upgraded to the new section which was way better than the old section. Overall, the location is great and the service was okay.

The main attractive feature of this hotel is definitely its location, offering a space to park your car and walk to Lake Louise without having to deal with the traffic of the lake's own car park. Pros - The brilliant location! Plenty of activities inside the hotel, such as a pool table, fussball table, and piano. A rooftop hot tub with a stunning view of the mountains. This was definitely my favourite part of the whole stay. Complimentary toiletries were high-quality. Restaurant seemed lovely although it was fully booked so didn't have a chance to dine there. Cons - An issue with our booking meant that our room had a double bed instead of two twins. Sadly they were not able to rectify this as the hotel was fully booked, but they did kindly offer us extra blankets and pillows. The bed was quite small for a double, particularly for a non-couple! Also had an issue with our plug sockets, where the plugs were too loose to stay in the wall. We had to charge our electronics next to the bathroom sink. Breakfast was priced at $24 per person per day, which was a little pricey for our family of four. The room lacked amenities such as tea and coffee facilities, TV, fridge, etc. Edit: Just remembered - no elevators so not entirely accessible!

Other reviews say this place is old, small, and needs to be updated... and I would partially agree, but I give it 5 stars. The "old" come with a ton of great character and I wouldn't want it any other way in this spot. If you really need a large room, then this place may not be for you, but keep in mind the only other hotel in walking distance to the lake is a very expensive Chateaux. My wife and I stayed here and ended up booking an extra night to stay longer we enjoyed it so much.

You have to expect that the rooms will be small and underwhelming, especially in the old wing. However, the location is excellent, the building has a ton of character and the food is excellent. This place is amazing value.
