I enjoy being so close to the lake. I can ride my bike on the path and stop at events and just relax. And it’s always- usually, a nice view.

Greg Monkiewicz

Wonderful place for a walk or bike ride.

We rented bikes and rode along the canal on a cool and sunny day in April. Highly recommend that. We got our bikes at the Charlevoix metro station. The area is gentrifying with condo construction along the canal. There are lots of benches and chairs for viewing, but the views are of industrial detritus in transition. So if you're urban and curious, check it out.

I can say this is one of the best parks on the island of Montreal, Amazing Park with bicycle path and wonderful view specially on spring & summer Autumn season, free parking in the surroundings (side streets). You can reach this area from the old port by taking the same bike path which is an amazing experience to discover the canal of Lachine, and the funny thing here is that the canal gets its name from the French word China (La Chine). The European explorers sought to find a route from New France to the Western Sea, and from there to China ???? and hence auspiciously the region where the canal was built was named Lachine.

It's such a beautiful place to walk around. Spring summer fall you can rent bicycles canoes boats. In the winter some of the water freezes over the lights are out beautiful stroll in the evening. They're great restaurants in the area beautiful views very relaxing. Bicycle repair shops bike paths not to mention the Myriad of historic artifacts and buildings to see in the area. The lock station is a joy to watch opening and closing and what letting the boats go through. It's also a perfect place for a picnic.

History, beauty, peace of mind...you can get anything you want from the Lachine canal. Although small, I found the musuem on the canal if I may call it that, quite interesting. They go all the way back in time to showcase the historical strategic importance of this canal. It was free as well when I went, donations accepted.

A very calm, beautiful and inspiring place. Good for picnics, fishing, walking, bird watching, cycling, roller skating (has a very good and long bike path than can be shared by cyclists, rollers and pedestrians). There is a museum dedicated to fur trading on Lachine canal, and it is free to visit in 2017. There are quests for kids. Loved this place!

Best destination to get historical information from the ancient Québec and Canada. The European used to come here to buy the Furs. It was a well known trading in the Lower Canada (Québec). Many historical documents, souvenirs, photos, and accessories and artifacts from ancient époques can be visualized here. Best destination for the kids and school age children.

This is the first lock of the Lachine canal heading east towards Montreal. Very nice place to watch boats lock through as they travel along the Lachine canal in summer. It is also a nice place to walk as it is connected to several parks and a large marina with some very nice boats / yachts. There is restaurants close by or many places to picnic. Bring your bike if you wish, you can go along the canal to Montreal.

Christian Martinez Gil

Nice place for BBQ, running and other outdoor activities.

Elio Taverna

Canal Lachine is the best and most beautiful place to ride your bicycle. The landscape is overwhelming and every part has its own characteristics and charms.

Best walk ever!

Nice views when sunset

Sergio Olivera

Peaceful and lovely place to walk, to have a picnic. Beautiful view

Scott Irvine

An interesting kind of post industrial park to walk through, in the shadow of a looming terminal. Every time I visit here there are more amenities, and not just touristy places, but places that locals visit too.

Parvez Fattah

Excellent for a stroll and ice cream in the evening. Wish the restaurants were open after 6

I love going there by bike. I usually start by crossing the bridge at Atwater market, take the path till the abandoned factory, then cross the bridge again to end up in the old port
