REVIEWS OF Giant Spruce Park IN Kitimat

Definitely worth the stop

Matt Good

This is an incredible forest with some beautiful tress. The giant spruce tree has started to fall apart over time so don't be disappointed if it's not as tall as expected. It is a bit sad seeing a giant fall but there are some other younger ones who are growing up nicely. This forest reminds me of a mini Cathedral Grove on Vancouver Island. Definitely worth a visit, especially for how easily accessible it is!

Amazingly old tree in a quiet location. Unfortunately hit by lightning and is not as tall as it once was.

(Translated) Excellent place in Kitimat. The Giant Spruce is worth appreciating with its massive stem. The atmosphere is special, like taking hundreds of photos and relaxing on the tables next to it. Beware of bears, and don't leave trash in the place.

Very cool little spot to check out. The trees are enormous. Worth checking out if you are interested in photography and it has many opportunities for some interesting shots. My fiancé and I stopped in our way to a fishing trip on the west coast and I am glad we did.

So beautiful! Pictures do not do this beauty justice. A must see in person

Sandra Corbeil

A must if you visit Kitimat! This grand tree isn't as tall as it once was as the top sheered off but it makes an impression! Nestled in a gorgeous forest, it's a great place to stop and take it the beauty. Path is in good shape but wear walking shoes. Signage warns to not visit during high winds, and to be bear aware.

Christopher Whitt

It's a really big tree. Too bad it's no longer intact. Probably worth a visit if you are already in Kitimat. I might not visit just for this however.

Joshua Giesbrecht

It's a big tree.

Pam Tait

There is a trail that tajes you to a giant spruce tree. If you go beyond the trail following the road you Will find more longer trails along the river.

I wouldn't drive more then a few minutes for this attraction. That said I did drive 18 hours only to have our original plan fall through so we basically drove 18 hours to check out this tree. If your in Kitimat and Like nature, then is a spot to check out. The ecology of this region is something amazing. Rainforest meets Mountains meets tundra. This is a BIG tree as well. Half of it has broken off but the tree is still alive. One star loss because this isn't something Id consider worth a trip in itself.

Courtney Lipke

Going to see the Giant Spruce is a experience you can not miss. It will give you a feeling of awe as you stand looking up under the majestic trees. The trees seem as if they are monarchs of time.

Absolutely beautiful. This tree is gigantic

Jagwinder Sidhu

Time spent well!!! This Sitka Spruce is oldest(500 Year) known living organism in the Kitimat Valley. This Giant Spruce is standing 165 feet tall and 37 feet in circumference. You can go ahead along the trail and spend some good time on the River.

Wade Bears

Cook to see the tree again after 37 tears

Peter Furlong

Trail not maintained, and spruce is broken in half, and severely rotted, like many very old stems. Turn-around space inadequate causing me to break blackwater pipes on motor home attempting to turnaround. Luckily it was -15

Sairah Alam

The giant spruce is the oldest known living organism in the Kitimat Valley and therefore is definitely worth a visit. The air and atmosphere is very peaceful in the area.

Gina Lavetti

Nice place, not sure if the tree is still alive or on its way out? There are lots of big trees in the area and it's really close to the Kitimat River.

I Love going here. A trail to "the giant spruce" and other trails nearby. I go through out the year often. Always beautiful. The last time I went I got stuck driving the road lol but it was a fun time out. Be wary if going in the winter that getting stuck is a reality. Over the years I have had to get out twice now myself and have helped others. It happens, just make sure you either have recovery gear or know someone who can help you. Or park at riverlodge and walk or snowshoe - Riverlodge even does snowshoe rentals.

Dave Burton

If you like trees then this is a big one.

A great look at some natural giants. Parking is easy and the trail is quite short. The tree is dying, but the cycle is inevitable. Don't let the negative comments detour you. If you can, head a bit further down the road to access a beautiful riverside trail.

Dave Mathieson

Pictures can’t do the giants justice. Take a walk take some bear spray too.
