I love how every time I go to market square something new is going on. I've been to the farmer's market twice and picked up some top quality produce, and today we got to sit down and listen to some folk musicians busk. It would've been nice if the speakers weren't blaring pop music, but I can see why that's good to have when buskers aren't present.
Loved our visit here today, bright, alive and charming ????
Great tourism set up. Plenty of parking. Food and fun! Was extra memorable due to the Tragically Hip memorial!
Don't sleep on this grand feature, when visiting Kingston
It's a really beautiful, multicultural space. Settled behind city hall, its surrounded by great little shops and restaurants. I dont go often, as I am in the west end, but I did go for the festival of lights in December and it was quite stunning lit up at night. The rink was beautiful, and it felt very safe. I always enjoy heading to the square, as it has a rich history and welcoming environment no matter the season.
The new Santa's Village is a really cool idea and is great for pictures. It's very pretty at night all lit up.
A great back drop for movies in the square ????
Market Square decked out for Christmas and not too busy, makes for good engagement scenery ❤
A fantastic place to visit. Great restaurants are just a short walk from here.
Market Square on a Saturday us wonderful especially when the market is happening so many wonderful things to see and experience. You have to make the time if you haven't before. You won't be sorry.
Awesome plaza. They had local bands playing at least every Saturday this summer with free access and chairs. Amazing place to spend an evening in. Lots of space. Good acoustics for a public square. Nice buildings.
Great gathering point for special events and for the Farmers market. In the winter it is turned into an outdoor rink. Always something going on right behind Kingston City Hall.
One of the greater places in three city for outdoor events. Kingston needs to host more concerts here in the future
We lucked in to a great weekend in Kingston. Class act by the tourism team for drawing such great crowds and making this a great visit to your fine city.
Very nice spot to skate as well as the market, but quite busy sometimes.
Ontario, Canada truly is and amazing province with great cities and nature. Kingston is an old, beautiful, historical city, probably one of the oldest cities in Ontario. Beside Toronto and the Niagara Falls its also a great place to visit to get a real impression of Ontario.
During the summer when the farmers market or antique dealers selling their wares they put out nice tables with umbrellas for anyone to take in the history.. A friend & I tried it out this summer & what a great 20 minutes it was. The gorgeous old buildings and the hustle and bustle of the city was quite mesmerizing.
Amazing place to go and see while in Kingston.
Fun place to walk around and visit the market
Not too many vendors on Canada day
Went down to waterfront after work Fri night. Market square had some vendors n live band playing. Was free too listen too but due to city's dumb rules they had to shut down at 8. Ridiculous. Considering its right in heart downtown where all bars n restaurants open past midnight. It was good while it lasted.
Very Nice place.
Cool to hang out always something happening
In the heart of beautiful downtown Kingston, it often has free events for the public.
Movies in the square, concerts in the square, farmer's market, Beaver's tails, Adirondack chairs, ... Great use of a common square.
Went for a walkabout with the family. Always fun to see a few hidden gems amidst the variety of old trinkets and farmers' fare.
Always a great spot to walk around in! Perfect spot behind City Hall for taking fun photos ????????
We went on the haunted walk.of Kingston today with Jade as our guide. It started at the old Prince George Hotel and it was amazing. Loved it.
Nice little concert, great to have local food vendors and breweries
This is a lovely spot in the city. It is especially great when the bistro tables and Muskoka chairs are set out for enjoying a lovely picnic from places such as Olivea or Pan Chancho. Too bad about the music being broadcast though. It detracts from the ambience of the city.
Enjoyed watching people skate and having fun ⛸
When the farmers' / local market isn't here, there are usually tables and seats put out by the city, and makes for a nice place to sit down and chat with friends with a coffee. The markets provide an interesting array of things to browse through, and the food vendors are local. Markets are Tuesdays and Saturdays until 4pm, if memory serves.
Some of the cutest market exhibits. Great date spot, always something different.
It was very cool to see and experience, wish I had more time to take in the sights. But did enjoy the highlights there ????
Always fun events going on throughout the year, but the end of the day finalized the Star score. Don't enjoy yourself too much and lose track of time during events or you'll be paying more than you hoped for in Parking Tickets. Stayed too long Skating and watching an Ice Event, supported Market Square, a local Restaurant and Store. Only to came back to a $20 Ticket on my window. Nice way to end a Day in Downtown Kingston.
Watched David Wilcox in the market square. Great concert.
Rather boring. Not much going on.
Cute small market in front of city hall. There's a good mix of real artisans who make their own products and farmers who grow and make their own products but you have to ask.
Nice relaxing clean chairs for small group gathering.
Truly entertaining place, for the ???? . There is always something going on, music, outdoor film, movie production, antiques market and ????????️????????the food and ????????flowers market. This is a good location if you love photography ????
Always great events all year round including outdoor movie's and winter time skating in addition to market vendors selling fresh fruit and vegetables, maple syrup, bakery goods including clothing and other accessories. Lot's of access to banking and ATM's nearby with plenty of restaurant's and coffee shops as well. Parking nearby is mostly pay and display or pay for time used in garage or attended parking lot.
i love shopping
This is the heart of Kingston and a must for any traveller. Lots of restaurants, bars, a farmers market, ample parking, historical buildings and a beautiful waterfront. Enjoy your time!
Love this farmer's market, fresh local fruits veggies, maple syrup, honey, baked goods, and fresh creative florals. I bought the pansies in a vintage bowl and the bunny cookies.
Lots of great stories surround the square. It's a great gathering place behind the building for the community and tourist alike.
Variety of produce available.
Beautiful open community space in the middle of downtown Kingston. Used for a skating rink in the winter, a market and movies in the summer Sounded by lots of lovely small shops, coffee houses, art galleries.
Market Square is exactly what the name would lead you to believe it is: the market square of Kingston. That being said, it is much more. It is a place to go to the farmer's market, or antique markets. It is a place to practice some free yoga, see some movies, check out a concert, go for a skate, meet friends and enjoy lunch or coffee on one of the bistro tables. Market Square is one of the many cool features that make Kingston into the amazing place that it is. Go down, grab a coffee, have a seat, watch the world go by for a little bit!
Great market. Even with reduced vendors (Covid19) it still has a great selection.
For my opinion, 1st, it's not much for a deal, but it's good for support community. 2nd, it's isn't enough stuff to choose from. And last, it's crowded when COVID, & most likely for some people that doesn't care about it, n they just right beside you. That's y I give it a 3 star.
Great place to get your fresh produce. Though some bring them from the local market and resell them!!!
Amazing market of Antiques for the one who is fond of collecting them. And who woukd not buy then even its a pleasure to eyes to see the amazing stuff in so open springlike weather. I Loved it!
Everyone should take the time to visit this beautiful farmers market, it offers an array of wonderful talented artistic vendors along with many market gardeners. If you need fresh fruits, veggies, heavenly baked goods or stunning jewelry then you are at the right place. Plan on spending a couple of hours wandering through the many aisles as you will want to see everything. I can hardly wait for our next visit to Kingston so that I can go to this amazing market again.
Excellent, recommend making a day of it. Lots to see, various activities, learning some history of one of Canada's oldest cities, the great people and fantastic food. Awesome!
Fresh produce and nice variety of craft items.
Good. Always have different events happening. However, when they have the Bistro/umbrella table and chairs during spring/summer months during the week, they need to have more seating. Also when the have the ice sculptures in the winter (February) they need to have much, much more because in recent years it looks like an after thought. Tends to feature about 6 ice sculptures. It presents itself as a lack luster event. It should and very easily could be much better than it is. The people in charge need to up their game. Make it look like you actually want this event there.
Great place to skate in winter and enjoy free horse ride
Terrific. Loads of good produce and home-canned goods. Bought some lovely apples...vegetables...pickles...and chow
Beautiful day, respectful people???? Nice to feel somewhat normal again✌️
We visited Kingston to see Moist perform! We arrived early in the day and did a boat tour of the 1000 islands. Then we freshened up back at our accommodations and found a lovely pub to grab a quick bite before heading to the Market Square for the concert. The show was amazing and the vibe was pretty stellar with the warm summer night and the starry sky! Great location!
Gorgeous produce, find anything you need and engaging vendors. Wonderful experience ☺️
Usually when I go there is a farmers market during the weekend. It was empty this time around, maybe due to covid or maybe the season has not started.
Despite limited vendors (time of year and COVID), still a nice spot to spend a little time and buy some items. Wolfe Island Bakery has decent selection. We bought tarts and coffee for some people-watching and planning a couple of downtown walking tours. Very pleasant.
It contains a nice building for Kingston City Hall, which has public restrooms. However, the washrooms are not open 24/7. I have managed to find a parking garage 600 m to park. There is not enough street parking. The square is perfect for an outdoors concert, in which chairs are provided.
Beautiful location just off waterfront. Perfect area for surrounding restaurants, cafes, pubs, patios (including rooftop patios). Great in winter with the ice rink and warmer months with the public market. Thank you!
Awsome if you don't mind peeing between cars after 8PM
Market Square is delightful to stroll around. The vendors are very friendly and easy to chat with. The wares are really good, but more vendors and variety would be nice.
This is a great place for hardcore Tragically Hip fans to come and reminisce about their final concert (August 20, 2016). They need to look for the commemorative stone ("Everybody was in it from Miles Around"--lyrics from "Blow at High Dough). They had a huge gathering of fans in Springer Market Square for the Kingston Man Machine Poem concert, and The Hip agreed to allow the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to broadcast the show. This Commemorative stone acknowledges that final concert. Bring a few friends to make the viewing experience special.
Large space with tables and chairs for sitting and eating. During the weekend there are some vendors selling fresh jam, honey, fruits and vegetables along with hand crafted trinkets and jewelry and other neat things!
The downtown market is such a wonderful place. One gets to know the favorite garlic lady or the best gladiolas or your favorite honey man ,or the organic veggie lady. We love it. Smack dab in the middle of town, you can grab a great cappuccino and scone and stroll with your market bag and buy excellent local products. Don't miss Saturdays.
It was very magical view special at night
Public square in behind the City Hall building. A wide variety of events are held during the year, including farmers markets. During the winter, an outdoor skating rink us set up. Food stands, featuring local restaurants, can be found year round as well.
Such a lively, happening place in Kingston. But almost no one wear face mask or practise social distancing!
Awesome show tonight by Moist! Best concert ever and free in the square.
It was o.k but didn't like all the pepole begging
Fantastic place in downtown Kingston. Has all sorts of events going on pretty much all the time. On one night, they had a screening of Moana here. The other night, Cold Creek County put up a great show in the square.
Supposed to be on lockdown. No gatherings of 10+ people. Yet 40 people can meet at market square. ????
Great weekend outdoor market in beautiful downtown Kingston. Plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables along side handmade goodies, baked goods and local artisans.
Brought the family skating, first time for our toddlers. COVID restrictions were in effect which reduced the amount of skaters but the staff working were more than friendly and accommodating. The music is the perfect level and genre to make your experience feel like something you want to remember! Will definitely be skating there lots this winter!
This is a great community location and plays host to Kingston's downtown farmer's market, a public outdoor rink in the winter and public events throughout the year. It's a nice place for a family outing.
