Parks are complex elements of a city. They can serve scores of different uses, may be specialized in their function, or can simply provide visual appeal for residents. However they work, they act to define the shape and feel of a city and its neighborhoods. They also function as a conscious tool for revitalization. Parks can stem the downturn of a commercial area, support the stabilization of faltering neighborhoods, and provide a landmark element and a point of pride for constituents. For all these things to happen, the city needs to be open and aware of parks' potential to spur revival, and support the elements that are needed to make that happen.

Nice view, peaceful atmosphere!

One of my favourite places to go for a quiet day by the lake. There tends not to be a lot of foot traffic here, and there are a few nice picnic tables, as well as mature trees and lots of parking spots.

Its not about the destination that matters. Its the jouney.

The view of the water is really nice, the walkway along the water is also really good for jogging, biking, blading, or skating... You can even fish along the shore or just have a picnic. But the path to the right of the parking lot has many homeless people. Also there are no bathrooms.

Marie Sara Jasmine Kendall

Always clean, pretty and peaceful there even when highly populated.

Nice place for a walk. Loved the artwork.nice people were hanging around too and invited us to join in on an activity. Watch for the duck and geese droppings everywhere and had a close encounter with a very big snake. Also found a wasp nest in the ground. So watch out for that.

Stopped here for a rest after long drive. Was nice clean spot by the water

What a lovely spot. Not enough picnic tables and the parking lot has always been a rollercoaster. Like many of Kingston's waterfront access places they are under funded and lack places to sit and enjoy. The birds sure like it.

Nice Park

Three months of the year I rent a very expensive parking spot in the parking lot. Muddy and usually full of pot holes and garbage. I then walk or ride my bicycle from there to the Market Square. In summer weather I park on a side street down by the Woolen Mill at no charge. I then ride my bike to work from there. We need the Wellington Street extension though the park for safety reasons. The police can then patrol it more often.

Dugan Maynard

Nice open park by the waterfront, needs more trees though.

Erin Monkman

I like strolling through this park. There are lots of wildlife to view, not too many people so it's not crowded and it's very clean. There is also a restaurant that was renovated out of an old army infrastructure building I guess I don't know. so if you want to grab a bite on your stroll you can stop right there on the water. I would recommend.

Beautiful, quiet park in a natural setting along Kingston's beautiful waterfront. Community events are often hosted here. A great place to meditate, watch wildlife on and around the lake, or eat lunch at a picnic table. My favourite local green space!

Stephen Arnold

Doug Fluhrer Park is a narrow park facing the St. Lawrence River on the east, anchored by the Woolen Mill on the north and up agsinst the Kingston Marina on the south. It is named after a very well-liked and respected City employee. I'm at the Park once every week to work out at Focus Personal Fitness Studio in the Woolen Mill. We sometimes go outside to warm-up by running up and down the Park's Waterfront Pathway as well as work out on the grass. There is long retaining wall along the west side of the park. It used to attract graffiti but this past year it was the site of street art. I've attached photos of just a sample of the very interesting art panels.

Very beautiful view, but seems a lot of private property signs everywhere. So if you travel this way, you may find it hard to pull over and park to take in the view. Would have given more stars but for the reason above, it gets 3 for now.
