Better than the average tourist information centre. It overlooks Lake of the Woods and is suitable as a picnic stop. Easy parking for RVs as needed. There are some interesting local history displays and the guides are knowledgeable.

Roadtrip. Quick stop to stretch legs and enjoy the view, led to a short excursion around the center. We learned that they have an interesting program. For example, you found a feather, few interesting looking rocks, a piece of dry moss, etc, while visiting Ontario. Now, bring all these treasures to Lake of the Woods Discovery Center, contact stuff and present them your findings, indicating places where you found them, and you gonna get some points in return. What can you do with these points? Depends on amount of the points, you could walk away with beautiful polished Lapis Lasuli, Hematite, Blue Tiger Eye, Red Tiger Eye, Amethyst, Malachite....they have a lot of beautiful rocks there. You can even get fossilized fragment of Sahara Desert Sugar Starfish... and be among few Canadians who has it in their collection. Cool idea that helps you to learn a bit about world around, makes kids to look around instead of their phones, also this information helps scientists to define area of the habitat of a certain species. Lake of the Woods Discovery Centre is a rather small museum. There is a tourist information centre as well. Staff is friendly and helpful. A little trail leads to a small marina that offers great views of Lake of the Woods.

First class tourist information centre. Large parking lot, easy to find and a great location along the lakefront of Lake of the Woods. Located in the inside of the building is a fantastic display of outboard motors dating from the past.
