Best bachshop tour ever. $10 per person. The volunteer will spend almost a hour to show and tell the story and history about trains.

Mickael Maddison

A short, pleasant ride on a great Steam locomotive suitable for all ages.

Karen

The ride is so scenic, just beautiful! And the staff of the Ricky Mountaineer is fabulous!

Allison Knights

We had a fabulous time on the steam train at Christmas, it was a great experience.

Kim Logan

We have been a couple of times now and enjoy it. Great attraction for locals and visitors of all ages. Entertaining and educational. Nice staff and lots of seating on train. Parking is close by. Entertainment while waiting to board helps time pass as well.

mason mohns

disappointed... don't waste your money here the ride is boring you go so slow and the landscape is all industrial and not appealing at all and they literally stopped for a look at a mountain.... the ride host is cheesy all she did was tell train puns... next time i'll be going to KVR in summerland...

Lachlan Gonzales

This is the home for the 2141 Spirit of Kamloops steam locomotive. They run during the summer and on certain holidays like Halloween and near Christmas. This train has been lovingly restored and has her original bell, whistle and name plate as well as authentic coaches, caboose, open air cars amd a cafe lounge. The KHR also has small history tours in addition to their main events, and these are available upon request and give an intimate look into the history of the 2141 and the other rolling stock. I would highly recommend this tour for train buffs and families alike. Child and family friendly. Steam back into history!

So this was my first time taking the heritage train experience. I didn't expect it to be so cool initially. Turned out to be on of the best experience ever. The people and staff, the onboard dance and the sharing of experience of the onboard staff was all brilliant. The entire journey in the train ended with the show from local cowgirls and their horses coming near the train dressed up as bandits running around with fake looting the rail thing...of course it was an amazing experience with a historical feel to it. The train itself has compartments which are more than hundred years old. Overall, it's definitely a recommended experience in Kamloops.

Jessica Neathway

The Christmas train was fantastic! My daughter loved meeting Santa, Frosty and Rudolph.

Ricki Andrews

Awesome experience for the whole family!

Seth Grover

Great tour aboard this old steam train, also reasonably priced. The banditas robbing the train were great and horses well behaved amidst robbery.

Kevin Breiter RMT

An fantastical adventure to families new/young and mature; the polar express 2018 was a absolute blast for us.

Felicia Ting

Wonderful family experience. Everyone is very friendly and enthusiastic. The scenery and overall experience was definitely worth the trip.

Gail Odber

Short but fun train ride

Sophia B.

Peaceful when no one else is around

Deirdre Piggott

It seems to have closed. It's sign said closed until further notice.

Austin Yang (Austin)

The crew from there were amazing, we are having a lot of fun during this evening!

Trish Connolly

A lot of fun for the family!

Cory Zach

This is a fantastic experience for all ages. Highly recommend this for families. Looking forward to the haunted zombie trains at Halloween!

Isabel scarlet

Nice railway heritage

Warden Nolan

Nice old out door ride .bring a jacket

Chris Walton

Great evening, very touristy but good fun and happy to support all the volunteers that run the place.

Nicholas Lockie

Brilliant steam train ride that normally lasts about 1h15 and provides entertainment and refreshments. Unexpectedly when we took the ride it lasted twice as long and was the first time line controller decided to allow a much longer journey. Wonderful friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Haiyan Xie

This attraction is no longer there! The property is for sale.

KNBC Vie Voyzinker

nice train, nice show, and Sarah the conductor did a good job !

Riley Fuller

The scenery was to die for and the train was pretty old school and retro so we didn't mind the minor inconveniences we had while we were on it.

Jayson Baines

Horrible experience and a huge waste of money. Most of the volunteers were miserable and made it obvious they didn’t want to be there. The boarding was late and we waited in a line that had the overwhelming smell of dog s&@! When we finally boarded the train was highly overcrowded. We were encouraged to move about the train but when others did they came back to their seats taken. The actual train tour was just a ride to the CN junction and back with a scenic view of low income housing, mini storages and an auto wrecker. This tour was far from as advertised as there was no pumpkin patch, no music as the PA system did not work, the effort by the staff just wasn’t there. I should mention we paid over 80 dollars for 2 adults and 2 kids for this very disappointing experience.

Sebastian Fralic

It was a beautiful train, the route however is not very "scenic". We went north over the Thompson through the reservation and turned back at the junction.

Spencer Haber

This station is located in a quiet little town in Western Canada. Our train, the Rocky Mountaineer, arrived to the train staff greeting us with open arms. The history of the rail yard and station are evident and well maintained through the residents of the town. Even some of the locals were at the station when the train pulled in to wave and greet us at the end of our journey. Overall, this station had a great history and great people. If you get the chance to come through this station and town, I recommend doing so.

Bach Nguyen

Great experience

Kim Annis

Entertaining and informative - a good family experience.

PAULETTE DAVIES

Performance with my Chorus, while travelers were boarding the holiday train.

Jason Richard

Maybe it's because we went on family night, but the show was extremely cheesy. The scenery was also extent lacking as we went through a lot of the industrial area.

Lord Robin Ariel Ross St Claire Holgate

The housing around the Heritage Rail only adds to its beauty as a heritage site and park areas. Wonderful area to visit . Lord Holgate

John Moloney

Called to kamloops train station on 17th July. Arrived and the shop was closed but eventually opened late even though it was advertised to open at 9am. Once we got in to the shop nobody was available to give a tour of the train shop . Waste of a trip; a lot of disappointed kids!

Mary Carroll

Very pretty little station. Part of the Canadian Rocky experience.

Michael Holmevik

It was closed, i'm assuming it's because of the covid restrictions still, so I can't give it a 5 star rating as if yet.Too bad, but you can still see some of the site behind the fence on the public pathways.

Kamal Khiva

There is not a such place that we can see trains.

Shauna Contant

Went to experience the ghost train event. My son enjoyed himself. Very cool to offer more then just a train ride.

Ron Vike

The folks do a wonderful job keeping everything running.

Mike Muhlfellner

Very nice Christmas train

Ron “CAVEMAN” Godin

Very sad that the city of Kamloops don't stand forth and do something with the aging old train station like take it back to its original state when it first opened. That would be a great feeling when the train tours came in. And just for us Kamloopians that appreciate the wide history that Kamloops has to offer what better place to bring back to life.

Kathy Hicks

Waiting for the fireworks to start. What an amazing way to celebrate Canada Day 2019. Thank you KHR2141

Alan Coe

We enjoyed the ride and the activities. It's fantastic to see the restoration. The staff were all friendly and clearly enjoyed what they were doing. They did have a lot of issues with the sound system that took away from the experience and made things a bit disjointed. Also, keep in mind its a fairly short trip.

Richard Bugera

This was a lot of fun and a bit educational. Riding the old train in an open sided car was quite the experience.

Alex Gedala

One of the must see and do things when in Kamloops. The train inside out takes you to a time 100 years ago. Purely driven by volunteers this is a piece of history that everyone needs to get a taste of when in Kamloops.

Paula Murray

Quite entertaining, people were knowledgeable, friendly and courteous.

Jennifer Norris

Good experience and fun theatrics. Enclosed car Very hot in the summer since it does not have AC. Only goes about 5 miles round trip. Great staff interactions

Pam Longwhite

Wonderful !! The kids had a great time and so did we ! The robbery was especially exciting for the kids. The saloon girls were a great added touch.

Ian Rice

So much fun I highly recommend the ghost train. My only criticism would be of the people riding it. I think they need to make it so no flash photography. Was too many people had their phones out it made it a little distracting at some parts. But overall hats off to all the volunteer who did a great job

Bloody Trains

I Love this Train.

Robert Cole

A shame no one has done anything special with this building. However, great for photos!

Scott Mackenzie

Not pleased. Our family often comes aboard a number of times a year, and this was our first time this season. We were not impressed by the changes the new management has made. Extreme cheesiness, dirty seats/washrooms, and a huge emphasis was given to young girls playing dance girls. The train used to bring back the good old days... Our entire family missed the way Jordan ran things. We will not ride again.

Éva Borbás

We went there at the end of June, 2019. Checked in advance if they would be open at that time, and they said yes. In spite of this , everything was closed :( Anyway I liked Kamloops a lot. Nice people, kind of exciting atmosphere . I hope …

Rick Greenwood

The only place to see rail history in action and if your lucky you won't get robbed by the infamous Billy miner the greatest train robber in BC history

Karri Bertolotti

We had a lovely time.

Ava Black

Amazing experience for people of any age. The acting is amazing and so is the ride with snacks and water giving during an enjoyable train ride with an exciting twist at the end

Robin Cook

Terrific scenery great spot

warden nolan

I think that it would be a great way to the evening with your better half.

David Landon

Family had lots of fun.

Debi R

Although the event I attended was over an hour late to start (everyone left outside to wait on a cold nite) and the event couldn't be heard or seen well, taking a ride on the steam train and learning some history made it bearable but just barely

Wanita Heiberg-Reid

We loved the train ride! Thank you to the volunteers for the entertainment. The "robbery" was fun, even my teenage son had a great time.

Sami McPhee

Went on the October 20th Trick or Treat train and it was fabulous! The music was great, all the volunteers and workers were enthusiastic, the dance party at the junction was a lot of fun, and it seemed like everyone left with a smile on their face! Great job KHR!!!

Dale Walker

A great place to take the family for seasonal events.

D M

I love trains, my three kids love trains, and I fully appreciate the people who work hard to keep dreams and historical items like this alive. Five stars for the staff on this Christmas train. Five stars for the 2141 itself because it looks like it's kept in mint condition. Four stars overall because despite it using a federal railway line, I was surprised to see the run was not a complete circuit but rather the train returns backwards on the same track to get home.

Arshdeep Brar

Great to see steam engine.

Lorraine Okeeffe

Liked this but found the dancing girls a bit cringy.. Train is beautiful

calho001 University of Minnesota

Great beautiful area.

Thomas Malooly

The Rocky Mountaineer Train trip from Banff through Kamloops to Vancouver was fantastic. You travel through the Rocky Mountains the Canadian high desert and the Pacific Coast rainforest. The service in their Gold Leaf service was outstanding. The trip was in a domed railroad car with the dinning room below. I highly recommend this trip.

Gina Halpin

Loved seeing the railway but was a bit uneasy with the area. Didnt feel safe alot of drug dealers and homeless in the area.

Bcm nunyah

My family enjoyed the train ride. It's a bit short but the staff were friendly and made the trip enjoyable. The robbery at the end is definately the highlight.

Kelly Chwartacki

Great walking trails, very peaceful.

Robert Mcgivern

Great day for all

Luke Kelly

A truly unforgettable experience to ride the holiday Christmas Train. A credit to Jordan and his staff. This was one of the best highlights of our whole holiday. A wonderful journey through Kamloops and I would highly recommend this to all people.

This site is closed unfortunately due to Covid-19

Joanna Lipnicki

Good entertainment for local and from other countries

Theo Seal

We had a great time being robbed. The whole trip was a blast.

Nathan Wallace

Very cool old steam train. Beautiful work in the restoration

Stuti Shah

It was amazing. And the crew was the sweetest

Jason Wakefield

Embarrassing to say the least... We were greeted by a train that was completely oversold, which meant we didn’t have a seat the entire trip. Okay we can get over that! We’ve been before and it’s a busy train. We can’t get over the rest of the trip however! We didn’t even go to a pumpkin patch!!! What the hell!? The train is advertised to take you to a pumpkin patch!!! The trip was way shorter than advertised and the staff we’re extremely unfriendly! At the end of the trip we were practically thrown a pumpkin because the staff wanted to go home! I don’t care if you’re a volunteer or not. We paid hard earned money for our and family for nothing. We took the train last year to an amazing pumpkin patch, what happened to it!? Give your head a shake Kamloops steam train! You won’t be seeing us or our family friends again.

amy neal

Your ticket on the Kamloops Heritage Railway is like buying a ticket back in time! It was so interesting learning about this trains history and how it operates. The most interesting fact was that everyone but three folks on this train were volunteers! The folks helping guests on the train, entertaining, and informing them are all giving up their time for the love of preserving this history and sharing it.

Lisette Kaip

What a great visit / train ride we had!

Bryce Podorieszach

Neat little excursion. The kids events are great for the whole family. This would be really neat to see expanded into a full train route between Kamloops & another interior municipality with a old sleeping & dining car added.

Michelle Hartford

The train was cool...blast from the past. The views were GREAT and the "cast"was amazing...the "bandits" at the end were so cool, guns and horses and everything...beat adventure!!!

Anita Morrison

Great staff nice place easy to find office

Ciaran Brooks

Attended the ales and rails event. The food, drinks and entertainment were good. The rail trip is a little underwhelming if you've been on Steam trains elsewhere in the world. 6 miles total at a crawl, barely any steam from the engine. And thank goodness in the UK we don't have ridiculous health and safety rules that were in force here, stand 6 feet from the train etc! I think anyone with a brain knows a steam train might be warm! Wouldn't bother with the train ride again.

Anne Quackenbush

It was a steam engine but only went 3 miles then backed up the 3 miles. Had 4 girls dressed up and danced and a train robbery. The train was restored very nicely just wish it was longer.

Sam Yin

I visited here today with high expectations of seeing the museum about trains however This place is closed and for sale of future commercial development which may convert to a restaurant or pub

Michael Steff

What a cool building to bad it is not being used at this time.

Cooper

Be it summer, Halloween or Christmas, the heritage train is a great experience for all ages! Why not take a ride through Kamloops on an old school steam engine? For the Halloween train if your little ones get scared easily, I recommend going on the trick or treat train instead. For Christmas fun for the entire family take a ride!

Dave Emmington

Exceptionally fine locomotive, dedicated volunteers and great staff make this a journey not to be forgotten. Children stand awestruck beside the Spirit of Kamloops Steam Engine 2141 to have there photos taken. Old timers relish the thoughts of rail travel memories.

Cynthia Thompson

Trick or Treat Train. Awful and unsafe. The train was oversold and staff have no idea what they are doing. They said there was another train coming which caused a delay, there was no other train in sight! There is no communication, if there was an emergency no one would be able to move because the train was so full. The ride was bland, through industrial parks and back again without a single sight of a pumpkin patch. The train should honestly be shut down and new management brought in. What a waste of a wonderful piece of history. Fix the PA system. Find a nicer route. Hire new staff. If you advertise something, make sure it is there. If you can’t do these things, then don’t open the doors to the public.

Steven Dunks

Fantastic place if you're into trains especially steam. Was unable to do the rail journey but the back of house tour was fantastic. Got a great walk though the carriages and a great up close view of the 2141 Spirit of Kamloops loco. A worthwhile stop while in Kamloops. Would have loved to travel but unfortunately our trip was miss time & just missed out.

Erik Kowal

Ok place to go, however the town is not a friendly place

Gary Baugh

We took Rocky Mountaineer Gold Leaf. That's the way to vacation, let me tell you. Beautiful scenery, awesome service, great chefs!

Michele Lamontagne

It was amazing experience to ride the holiday Christmas Train with family. There were people of all ages, very family oriented. The kids enjoyed meeting Santa Claus and Mrs. Clause.. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Cindy Lou Who from the Grinch, and the young ladies dressed up in old fashioned costumes the staff and the volunteers we're amazing I highly recommend this for everyone!!

Tonya Ulmer

So much fun for Christmas time

Joe Dondaneau

Awful experience with the trick or treat train ride today. The train was oversold and there was not enough seats for everyone so there were people standing with nowhere to sit. The train left at around 3:15 and got back at 4pm which was FAR from the 1.5 long ride that is advertised on their website. There pumpkin patch was actually just pumpkins tossed on the stairs at the end of the already short ride and with no one policing this most families took multiple pumpkins and many left with nothing because of it. Many people were NOT impressed that were standing and sitting around us and voiced very similar opinions. The ride was FAR shorter then advertised. There was NO pumpkin patch There was ZERO communication from volunteers and staff. I have looked forward to going on one of these train tours for years, but after this experience I will never do it again, and won't recommend anyone else does either.

Could be Nice but don't bring the family mostly just a bunch of dealers an stoners best to go to the more central park
