Very nice staff, amazing food! All meats made to perfection and all house made sauces were outstanding. Add a great view to a great experience and enjoy.
I have been visiting Jasper for more than 10 years now and never had a meal at this place before. The location of this restaurant is excellent -- just beside the canyon. The patio actually overlooks the canyon and the river. Arguably the best patio in Jasper. We loved the food! Particularly the short-rib was excellent! The sampler platter was enough for the two of us. Our server, Vernon, was very cordial and knowledgeable. He suggested a beer, which was an amazing combination with the food. Highly recommended! Great value for money!!! We will come back for sure.
Absolutely top notch restaurant next to the first bridge in the Maligne Canyon trail. Wonderful service and even better food. Wished I was there at dinner time to try the platter, but can attest to the brisket in the brisket sandwich to being legitimately delicious.
Wilderness platter is delicious! It's enough for two people
The beef brisket and chicken sandwiches were so delicious. The chives and garlic fries and mac n cheese was completely unexpected. In most restaurants, of the view was great, the food is usually sub par. But no. Not this place. Charming lodge, beautiful destination, amazing food. Other restaurants can learn from them.
Jesse, our server, was very nice, and provided excellent service and advice on the menu. We had the meat platter and it was delicious , very tasty and fulfilling. We ended splitting a smore dessert and it was a win. Definitely reccomend this place for dinner !!!
Amazing and beautiful location and great service. My boyfriend and I went here for a date night while vacationing in Jasper. I had the brisket and he had the salmon. Both were amazing! Only comment i would say was I ordered a glass of red Cabernet Sauvignon and it was not the best. Very acidic and rough. The picture posted is of our view from the patio they have.
Top notch food, views, sand service. Save room for dessert :)
The food here is amazing! Their garlic fries and the in-house mayo has to go down as top 3 for sure. Props to the staff!
Amazing lunch provided as part of the Maligne Canyon Icewalks. Great day with delicious food. For only $79! Definitely will be returning one day.
Wow, the wilderness platter was so good and incredibly filling. We easily could have fed a third person!
Had dinner on the patio with my two roommates. Vernon was our server and he was super friendly, food was great! Would definitely recommend.
We had multiple amazing lunches at the Wilderness Kitchen throughout our trip to Jasper! We tried both the Grab & Go menu + the sit down patio lunch menu. Everything we ordered was delicious and beautifully presented! The views from the patio were quite spectacular as well! Amazing staff and great hospitality, and also really accommodating with food intolerances (gluten, soy, and dairy). Definitely a spot you don’t want to miss if you’re in Jasper or hiking at Maligne Canyon. Thanks Kurt for being a great server! We can’t wait to be back the next time we’re in Jasper!
Maligne's atmosphere was okay for the summer, but needs some updating. The food however was extremely good. A must is the Garlic Fries. Go for the rapids view and the food, you wouldn't be disappointed.
Delicious menu and attentive staff. Tried the wilderness Platter, trout and bison tartare
We thought this would be a massive tourist trap restaurant that is just there out of convince but we were wrong. Patio has an amazing view and sound of the flowing water. The staff were super friendly. The BBQ food was amazing. We had pulled pork sandwich and beef brisket. Super tender and nicely cooked. The side of garlic fries were super crispy and flavourful. The wait staff brought lots of water by without having to ask and they offered 15% if you booked the boat cruise. We are hoping to dine here again on our trip!
We had the feature sampler and it was a fantastic meal for two people. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and had some great stories. Makes for a great stop after visiting the canyon
We had the most amazing brisket sandwich here. It was delicious. And the Mac and Cheese together with the lemonade, also brilliant! And all thanks to Ankit who served us brilliantly! Amazing recommendations. All of them were spot on. Nailed it The place itself is charming, and old teahouse, with great views. The patio was full of mosquitoes so we decided to eat in, but must be an awesome spot to have a nice lunch after doing the trail.
We had dinner here on a saterday night. It was not very crowded, which made it very enjoyable. Our waiter, Kurt, was very nice and friendly. We asked him for a signature dish and that turned out to be a shared platter. 4 kinds of meat, some side dishes, 3 sauces, and not to forget: the parsley fries. Njum! We both had a cocktail with gin, tasted great! The food, live music, great service and an amazing place to sit makes this a must do when around. The day after we returned for a sandwich with beef brisket. That was so good! Slightly hot, tender meat,... a bit expensive (12$/sandwich), but kinda worth the money :-)
Great atmosphere, great view beside the river. Awesome staff! The food was wonderful
Wow!! This was one of the most delicious meals we’ve had. Location/food/drinks/service/price all 5/5. If there’s a way to give this place 6/5, I would. We went on a weekday in July and sat on the patio - this is a late review. The outdoor environment is serene as you’re overlooking the Maligne Canyon trails. The indoor seating is cozy, modern and subtle. We tried a large variety of cocktails dishes, everything was well-executed, balanced yet complex. From the cocktail menu, I’d recommend the Rumpert’s Campfire! This whisky based drink is transformed with bitters, roasted marshmallows, and infused in a smoky wood plate. We each had a second round after quickly gulping down the first. Other favorites include the Prickly Bear and Observation Peak. On the food menu, I really enjoyed Bison Tartare, Brisket, and the Bison Striploin. My only regret is only having a day in Jasper, otherwise I’d be back for brunch and dinner a second time! Hopefully we’ll be able to get out there and excited to see what new cocktails and dishes land on their menu.
Food was amazing, the chicken was the best I had ever eaten. The brisket and ribs were very fatty and could have rendered a little more. They have some very interesting cocktails this one is themed on a campfire. The maple Blondie should be your choice for a dessert. We will go back just for it alone.
Stopped by here while staying in Jasper. Not only is it close to Maligne Canyon with incredible views, but the food was fantastic. My niece has dietary restrictions and can be a picky 4 year old, but the staff were incredibly accommodating and whipped up something she loved! Rio (I think that was her name) was a great server too, very attentive to our group of 7. Highly recommend stopping by!
Spent my honeymoon in Jasper. Met some awesome staff here at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious too. Can't wait to come back!
It's not possible to order just one dish. The price is 55$ (plus taxes) for an appetizer and one main course. Food was ok, nothing exceptional
Absolutely amazing experience! We've recently moved to Jasper and have been meaning to eat here. After our walk with our pup we decided to stop here for lunch. The staff was so accommodating and allowed us to sit on the front patio with our dog. They even started us a fire and a staff member brought out water and a mat for our pup to lay on. So very thoughtful and not expected! To top it off, the food was excellent. Jesse made some recommendations that we loved! I would honestly give 10 stars if I could. Thank you for the exceptional service and delicious food! We will definitely be back.
The seating isn’t very comfortable. The fire tables are nice, but the issue then becomes space for food and drinks. The chairs that are available, you have two choices, to either sit on a wooden tree stub or a very deep-seated plastic patio chairs. We opted for the tree stubs just because it would be hard to reach on the table for our food and drinks if we were seated in the other chairs provided. The food itself was excellent, we had the platter, only issue I would say was the beet gnocchi was flavourless and chewy, but all the meats were cooked to perfection and tasty. Our service was a bit lacklustre considering we were one of only 10 tables for the whole restaurant. Our server took a long time to come back to ask us if we wanted dessert or to get our bill and was preoccupied with another table for 10 minutes talking, I had to ask some other server for the bill.
Went in on a whim and we were not disappointed. The patio and view were lovely, the food was astounding, and our server, Kaitlyn, was awesome - friendly and informative and happy to chat with the chef in order to help me manage a mushroom preference. We'll be back next time we're in town.
TLDR BELOW: Overall, I had a good experience, nothing negative happened. That being said, the food was just...meh. Everyone at the table genuinely believes that we just had re-fried LAYS chips, Uncle Ben's minute rice, and unseasoned meats. The drinks, mixed and ciders, were delicious! The wait staff were very polite, the chef was singing to the radio, as a kitchen team, everyone seemed well coordinated. TLDR: Definitely worth going to for a drink, atmosphere and staff are great, food is absolutely nothing special.
I loved the view and relaxed atmosphere on the patio, there are a couple of bonfires you can sit next to. The menu was not very varied but food was flavourful and tasty! They have diverse alcohol list so you can definitely find something for yourself. I ordered steak sandwich with sweet potato soup and enjoyed it a lot. The service was fast and attentive with valuable advices. If I ever go to Alberta again, will stop by for sure.
We arrived earlier than our reservation time, bit the staff was extremely accommodating. Food was excellent and the service was great.
We had Jesse as our waiter. Jesse was very kind, respectful and helpful throughout our experience. We had the wilderness platter as per Jesse’s recommendation, and MY OH MY! So delicious. Definitely MORE than I expected and more. So yummy! Jesse also recommended some delicious drinks that I enjoyed as well! Over all I loved this experience. This would have been the 2nd time I came here since the last time I came with my boyfriend. 11/10 would recommend ????
Excellent food and service! Hosted an event booking here and they took great care of us, recommend this location for event bookings. Also parked at 5th bridge and walked here for dinner or lunch a few times in summer and then walk back, for a very nice afternoon walk with awesome scenery and good food!
Fantastic food with a great view! The acorn squash bisque was amazing!
Able to make reservations online with ease. If you are looking for an authentic and cozy experience in the mountains, this is a good place to spend some time in. There was live music which I enjoyed. Shared a platter for two and it was …
Delicious lunch after a morning of fun adventure. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly. The patio has such nice view of the running water. Highly recommended.
Good view and food.
Yum. A little pricey. Great service. Beautiful view from patio. Awesome food.
Wow. What a fest. The gin cocktail is made extremely well and after a hike it really hits you. The portobello mushroom burger is great with amazing Mac and cheese. Prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be back. …
What an amazing hidden gem!! Tucked away beside Malinge canyon, away from the hustle and bustle of Jasper town, my wife an I enjoyed a fantastic romantic evening meal. They have amazing beef brisket, ribs, chicken and sausage. The sauces are to die for as well. Tastefully decorated, relaxing playlist and a modern mountain getaway vibe. Plus everything was fairly priced. Would highly recommend for locals and visitors alike.
Had a wonderful dinner tonight here! Staff was friendly and helpful and the food was awesome! Had the sampler platter and will definitely have it again. The short ribs and the salmon were the highlight of the meats and my husband and I had to do rock paper scissors for the last beet gnocchi. We have definitely found our new favorite place to eat after a day of hiking.
Our visit to Maligne Canyon Wilderness Kitchen was one of my favorite lunches on our BC & Alberta roadtrip mid-September. Service here was very efficient and friendly (even though it was pretty busy) and I liked that everything appeared well organized. The food was delicious; we had two sandwiches, one with soup and one with salad, everything was fresh, tasty and came out fast. We also had a drink which was very good. The views are very nice as well, especially if you catch a clear day. Don’t forget to check out Maligne Canyon while you’re here - it’s truly spectacular and beautiful!
Visiting after much of the seasonal workers had departed left much to be desired. The few remaining staff seemed to put in a big effort while seriously short-handed, with everyone shuffling about to cover hosting, counter, serving, bussing and shop duties (our protracted meal gave us a lot of time to watch the pandemonium ensue). Nevertheless, the service and food fell short; our pulled pork and brisket sandwiches were scant on meat, not entirely heated through, and in dire need of moisture. The meal was redeemed only by the sides of mac and cheese and garlic fries. I would consider it a convenient spot to grab a meal after exploring Maligne Canyon, but not worth a trip out of your way or a long wait if there is one. We felt particularly bad for anyone saddled with hosting duties, because it meant having to repeatedly explain to those visiting the souvenir shop that they would be required to present proof of vaccination because the place is primarily a food service establishment. Then watching them be subjected to a shocking amount of hostility even though nine times out of ten, folks seemed to have the required proof that was being requested. It’s sad to see restaurant staff become punching bags for everyone’s frustrations. Just a reminder to anyone reading this to please be kind. Businesses and their employees are just trying to abide by government imposed health restrictions.
Great Food. Featured platter is recommended if you don’t have any idea
This restaurant is a gem! We had the mixed meat assorted platter and it was amazing. Cocktails were not watered down either. Gelato was tasty and the service was fantastic(Rio) and everyone was very welcoming! Beautiful view from the balcony but the inside of the restaurant is very nice too!
Definitely worth going to, I'd highly recommend anyone traveling in the area stop here for their dinner menu and try the wilderness platter for two. Everything on it was delicious! Also, their drinks are great! The pickled asparagus in their Cesar's were better than any other we had in Banff/Jasper/Calgary
Fantastic location and outlook. Great, modern food with reasonable prices. Excellent service. Highly recommended, well worth a stop (and even a 15 minute drive out of town)
Recently visited with a tour. The food was fantastic. The setting was busy, but informal. The staff hustled to keep up with the demand. They wore masks.
Service was good. Meal was very forgettable. Salmon was Over done & dry, rice was not hot. Ribs were fine but mashed potatoes were not hot. The beet gnocchi were very good. They only had one wine available as all other wine was sold out. You will get a much better meal in town. I would suggest The Raven
Excellent patio with stunning gorge and river view. Sampler smoked meat platter was delicious. Service was very attentive and friendly and it was a wonderful experience overall! Highly recommend
The sample platter is unbelievably good. Highly recommend eating here. Excellent service from Jesse. If in Jasper, you gotta eat there
This place is great, good service and food! beautiful outdoor balcony with a great view of the cannyon! Good to grab a bite after a hike!
Exceptional taste and quality, superb service, most beautiful view. Don’t overspend in Jasper town, eat affordable and amazingly cooked meals out here! Henriette did a fantastic job serving us!
The food was fantastic and the service was very good. After we finished dinner, we did the loop with beautiful views of the Canyon. Highly recommended!!
The food was great especially their meats! Very nice atmosphere, and you can smell the campfire in the restaurant! They have two outdoor tables with fireplace on the tables!
The food was amazing and the service was excellent! We noted it was our honeymoon on the reservation and they acknowledged it the moment we walked in and provided us with champagne to celebrate! Our server Jen was awesome, very friendly, checked in at appropriate times and didn’t miss a thing. We had the wedge salad and the sampler platter, both which were great. The platter is such good value, you get a LOT of food and good way to try a lot of the items on the menu. We will be back next time we are in Jasper!
Wow. The best meal that we've had in our many trips to jasper, and delivered at that! Impeccable service and they even threw in some extra goodies! We can't recommend this place enough!
Wow! We were in Canada for 9 days and had many great meals. The brisket sandwich that I had here topped them all! Max made us a top notch Old Fashioned! Very warm and inviting atmosphere!
Great food. Highly recommend the bison burger. Also stopped at the front cafe for a coffee and decidd to get a treat too. That cookie is seriously one of the best cookies I've ever had! It's a pretty giant cookie. Share it or don't. Choice is yours.
This August, my partner, son and I had the absolute pleasure of dinning at The Maligne Canyon Wilderness Kitchen. Hearing of their delicious smokehouse menu via their facebook (give them a follow!) , we actually took a 3 hour detour of our …
Simply put, the food here is fantastic! A group of 8 of us were in Jasper in July for a few days and went to this restaurant one night. The restaurant is a converted historical train station. Trains still run by the restaurant. Being a large group, we were able to order different items from the menu and share. From the brisket to the beef short ribs, to the chicken and dumplings, to the salmon, and the striploin, everything was made to perfection. Either we were so hungry after a day of hiking or the food was so good, nothing was left on any plates. Definitely recommend this place!
Waited 40 minutes for a table, the restaurant ran out of water so they couldn't serve us which I understand. All they did was come to us and ask us to leave. We had a 20 month old with us, the least they could have done is offer a complimentarygrab and go sandwich but all the servers were keen on was kicking us out. Very poor service.
Spectacular food. Their in house smoked meats were shockingly good. Maria was fast friendly and very efficient. Go eat here if you’re anywhere near Jasper.
Yes the location by the river is beautiful, but the food is good too !! The waitress Maria will make it a very good experience. The selection of wines contains Canadian and local vineyards, quality of products is excellent. Will come back again !
5 star VIEWS AND SERVICE !! Me and my girlfriend were visiting from Ontario and was celebrating our anniversary. FRANCIS was an absolute gem. He made such efforts to make our day special. He was so attentive and personable! Thank you so much !
We had a very strange experience when we tried to eat at Maligne Canyon Wilderness Kitchen this afternoon. We asked for a table for three but were told that they were fully booked for this afternoon and this evening. We were told we could …
Was the highlight of my trip to Jasper. Absolutely loved the food and scenery.
Got the brisket sandwich. House smoked. It was ok. The garlic fries were very good. Literally 2 forkfulls of coleslaw which was also ok. Also ordered a specialty coffee which was lukewarm and also just ok. Overall underwhelmed and didn’t feel like it was money well spent. Location is amazing.
Great spot for a meal or a beverage. From the patio you can see the falls. The food was delicious. The best mac and cheese. Service was great. Go for a hike to see the canyon them refuel here after.
Superb experience with Maddison making our outdoor dining e per truly memorable and delightful. We planned to share the Wilderness platter and the kitchen very kindly placed this on two separate boards complete with all the sides separated as well. Our picnic table was right beside the Athabaska river Service was excellent and food outstanding highly recommend it if you happen to be in Jasper.
What a nice place it could be... Bought a coffee and a cookie, however was immediately told not to try to have a …
Wow…. The view you get on the patio is unmatched anywhere. The sound of the rushing rapids and the scenic view coupled with the delicious Sampler platter is the cherry on top for the evening. Lovely evening and lovely service from Vernon. He was amazing with the kids!
Food -3 Service-4 Deco-4.5 …
Excellent Service and the food was amazing. The server was very respectful and she gave us some great suggestions for vegetarian food options. Everything she suggested was Awesomeness ❤️ Finished the entire Maligne canyon trail and at the end , treated to some delicious sandwiches here!! The location is awesome too, right next to the gushing waters of Athabasca river... Perfect and All star restaurant for Ambience and Food.
Very nice venue and food.
We had a Wilderness Platter. It’s amazing and had a wonderful dinner in the patio. Staff - Vernon was very nice and helpful. Highly recommended Brisket, Beef Rib and Salmon. Also we grabbed a Bison Burger for lunch when we left Jasper.
Excellent food awesome service
This review is long overdue. I came here with my bestie over the summer and we had such a great experience. We ordered the platter and everything on that platter was scrumptious. I would highly recommend it. They were also able to accommodate my friend who only eats GF foods and our server Maria, was careful to check with the kitchen to verify whether Items were GF or not. This place also has the best caesar I have ever had in my life. I downed the first one within a couple of minutes and ordered another one. I ended up ordering three they were so good. Our server, Maria, was a sweetheart, very warm and friendly. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!
One of the best restaurants I have been too!
We got the Wilderness Platter and it was perfection! Amazing flavours and presentation was beautiful. Service was wonderful. Would definitely come back!
