Disgusting-what a disgusting place. Christmas 2016-my girlfriend and I arrived at 10:50pm and entered the church at 10:55 a full hour and more before the actual service. We were just fitting into our pew when a totally rude usher stated "room for two more"...after arriving as early as we did we were totally uncomfortable the whole night. Meanwhile "reserved" seating was left unoccupied. This church is elitist.

The cathedral is stunning and the Masses are empowering. This is truely a house of worship. Msgr House manages to say so much in his short homilies; we learn, we share, we cherish. The architecture is fantastic, a rarity in this part of Greater Toronto. It's definitely a landmark that is attached to Hamilton. I got the chance to peak into the enclosed garden, get nice. You can appreciate the care that grounds keepers provide for the space. The buildings were closed as we're still under the CoViD19 lockdown but worthy of a second trip.

The Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King is located on the top of a hill in the southern suburbs of Hamilton. It is a typical medieval Gothic architecture. It overlooks Highway 403, Hamilton, Oakville and Mississauga. This church was designed by the famous Canadian architect William Russell Souter (W R Souter), built in 1933, exquisite craftsmanship, majestic and luxurious, like an art palace, is a landmark of Hamilton. Beautiful Cathedral with magnificent architecture. The choir service at the cathedral is amazing and melody to our ears. The cathedral has a divine ambience when seated inside and really helps you relax and meditate in prayer. I would suggest those who haven’t been there to make a quick stop and experience it. It's a shame... (no a sin) that such a wonderful historic testimony of Faith should be used so poorly to express such a rich and sacred Faith as Catholicism. They do not even offer Mass in the Extraordinary Form also known as the Mass for all Ages (TLM) and essential part of the Church's legacy and tradition. I attended mass there once (Novus Ordo) most of the parishioners had to be instructed when to respond to the liturgy by a lady who read the Psalms. It seemed more like a tourist attraction featuring a protestant like modern liturgy and not a true Catholic Basilica. Perhaps it should not have been promoted on architecture and lobbying alone but on the context and fullness of the faith expressed.

Its probably the most beautiful church ive steped foot in. The service was just amazing the people were all super friendly. They gad some yummy snacks after the service. And everyone came in and left all with a smile. Absolutely stunning.

Worst absolute worst customer service I have ever dealt with! Not only do they take a month to reply but when they do reply, they refused a baptism because we don't live near the church and because we are not members? I have never heard of that in my life that is not the way of Catholic! To me this is more of a cult! The Administration staff is very dry when they talk to you and unprofessional I don't even know how they work for the Lord... But this is not Catholic ill tell you that much... People just stay away.

My elderly mother needed to use a washroom during the service. If there is anything on the main level for handicapped or unsteady people, I could not find it. With my help, she went down two long, steep marble staircases, then up four more stairs to the basement washroom. (Too late). There were no chairs for this whole distance and she was forced to sit at the base of each staircase and rest on the way back up. It was scary and unsafe. If there is another option like and elevator or main floor washroom, I could not find it, even having searched the website ahead of time.

Denise and other guests, there is an elevator at the Cathedral Basilica. It is located at the Northeast side of the church between the Rectory and Church. You can access it from outside as well. Handicap washrooms can be found on the 1st level by following the hallway all the way to the end and turning right.

I can’t believe everyone is going through the same thing as we did a few years ago, not everyone can afford to marry at this church, as we have been part of this church for many years and was born and raised Catholic and they WILL not marry you if you don’t have the money to get married here. Not even half they will accept, it’s either full payment or nothing! It’s not even negotiable. It’s so sad. Matter of fact, as you can imagine, it’s very disappointing as we are a young couple starting off on our journey and wanted to get married in the church my wife went to as a child. Then the church wonders why the younger generation are not going to church it’s the attitude of the people who run the church that discourages us. Fr.David Wyne not everyone can get married at this church however if you are so called a "catholic priest” you would accept all walks in life as God did. May god forgive you for the disrespect you had made me and my family feel during the most important part of our lives. We no longer attend this church and been accepted with open arms to another Catholic church who accepts a donation of what we can afford not a set FEE. Father.David Wyne you need to open your eyes!! Open wide, as you are not what I have expected you to be as a priest welcoming us into the church. May God forgive you for not accepting us. John 15:12: "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you” no matter what walks in life lead you

I have lots of great things to talk about the Cathedral Basilica of Christ The King. I am a Bishop Alter Server the Cathidral Basilica of Christ the King for 8 years and all of the Alter Servers are great and all of the Parishioners are great too and Fr. David Whynen is a great prest and the Bishop David Douglas Crosby is great too so I believe it is the best standing Cathedral standing and lastly the Stations of the Cross and the Sained Glass Windows are magnificent too

My wife and I got married here and have had two baptisms here so far. Terrific pipe organ! One of the largest in Canada. Good air conditioning in the summer. Father Wynen also announced today that the sound system is being updated.

We are moving into a home in the area and looking at a new parish to attend and reading the reviews, I'm shocked and I'm a bit taken away. I have been married for 30 years and as far as I can remember and taught, sacraments are not for sale!! The Catechism of the Catholic Church makes clear that the First Commandment forbids simony, which is the buying or selling of sacred things. A wedding ceremony, what ever the case maybe should not be a fee associated with it, it should be a donation that's appropriate, for that person(s) left to their discretion! Not the church. My grandmother would be ashamed of this. Shame on you for charging $2000 for a marriage ceremony and people who help at the church are volunteers. Sounds like at this rate, you would make enough to cover costs and some within the year. It's a beautiful church from the pictures, however reading the reviews does not sound like a church I want to be part of.

Its pretty sad when a Church "house of God" deny's you to have a wedding there because you need to pay $1000 cash and another $1000 credit, cash or debit, so total $2000. This place runs it like a business and not the "house of God". Even Fr. David Wyned said himself, "you need to pay $2000, its part of the service or else you cannot marry here", Basically if you cant afford it they will not marry you there and i will not change my email review because it is the truth!! Father David Wynen!!
