Massive forested park area where lots of locals go to walk their dogs. I'm always blown away at the sheer size of this park and appreciate the natural beauty of the forests here. If you're lucky to be there on a sunny afternoon you can see some beautiful sunlight shining through the trees.

Allison Moffat

One of my favourite parks in Guelph. I highly recommend.

Jason Boles

I'm giving this 3 stars only cause it was confusing to walk around on the trails. Better signage is needed. If I didn't have my phone with me, would easily have gotten lost. Other than that, nice trails and wooded areas!

Cathy Chapman

Great place to walk dogs and be out in nature. Very large area, lots of trails, most are marked. Love it!

Travis Kelly

Brian Munday

Great park in the city, variety of trails for everyone

Oberon Robinson

Nice treed area for walks, with a few big trees, lots of birds & squirrels, and occasional deer sightings. Trails are rustic and easy to get lost on, so stick to the main trails unless you have time for a potentially epic adventure. Lots of dog walkers - watch where you step!

Justin Ma

Phillip Stack

Wonderful scenery, a great opportunity to get away in the city.

Gorgeous, huge, you can get easily lost. I love that. My biggest problem with it is trails are not clearly marked making it easy for people to get lost when they don't want to be. Also several marked trails are very overgrown and the path is not clear often seemingly just ending in the middle of the forest. Otherwise it's really great.

My first time visiting this Park and I really enjoyed it. The paths are still abit muddy due to the rain but that didnt stop us. Lots to see and hear aswell as being very clean. Would definitely return.

Rick Newell

LOL I got lost twice on the same walk because I was enjoying the view and not paying attention I think I walked for about 3 hours and enjoyed every step.. I recommend you go.... just pay attention it's not even hard to stay on the path. I was just lost in friendly conversation. Clean and well maintained

Supriya Vangipuram

If I don't wanna make the trek to Crawford Lake or Mountsberg, this is a great spot to go for a hike! It's lush and full of beautiful trails, just remember to put on some bug spray around this time of year!

Michelle

Love walking my dogs here off leash and resetting.

Great trails in this Park. Leash free dog area great for exercise and roaming in the outdoors. The park is so large I spent of over an hour long walk without seeing anybody.

One of my favourite park trails in the city - beautiful nature, plenty of paths and you run into wildlife every once in a while (deer, coyotes, etc)

Mart G (Marty)

My favorite nature paths in all of Guelph. This is a well-kept natural area, untouched for the most part. If you know the right spots you can almost convince yourself you're not surrounded by busy streets. Beautiful scenery, boardwalks are great due to yearly maintenance. Lots of energy here, good place to meditate. I get annoyed by all the FULL doggy bags that people throw on the ground?? Lol next time don't bother bagging it if you're gonna do that. Only go if you're comfortable with lots of dogs off the leash.

Fantastic trail.

Rob Walters

Relatively tame trails that are great for walks and/or casual biking. There are an incredible amount of deer here too. If you happen to venture here in the winter or when the leaves have fallen, pay attention to your surroundings and you may be surprised to see dozens of them hanging around you!

I love the winding paths in this small forest, it's taken a long time to start to piece together a map in my mind to keep the trails straight. There are always people walking here when I go, but it's not crowded.

Chris Edwards

Beautiful park. Wildlife and interesting flora are abundant.

Today was like a movie. Dec. 15 and warm for this time of year. It was quiet and you could hear nature at it's best. My dog was unusually calm it was like we belonged here. I felt so warm and happy , remembering when I was a child. I would be running through the trees, in my own world. What more could I ask for. Thankyou MOTHER NATURE. ????

This is such a hidden little treasure. I love the boardwalk right in the middle of mossy growth forest. It looks and smells amazing in that spot, it's a little piece of serenity. While the trails through here will lead you to the Hanlon Expressway, it's best to go in at Kortright and stay in the trees.

I just loved walking on the trail at Preservation Park in Guelph, Ontario. The day I went was a hot and sunny day. I went from one end of the trail to the other and back again. That day was so quiet and calm. As I continued to walk I came practically face to face with a beautiful doe. We both just stood there very still looking ar one another. I slowly reached for my camera that was around my neck and preceded to take a few pictures. The doe just stood there letting me take her picture. When I was done she just took off into the forest. It was such a wonder and magical moment. As I continued on my walk I came across a Heron. It is rare that I just happen to stumble upon these kind of animals. It was a really an amazing nature walk! I also saw a few smaller creatures...One of them was a Red Squirrel and the other a Downey Woodpecker. Man has taken so much forest land that these beautiful creatures don`t know where to go...so it was so good to see these wonderful animals in this preservation park.

Definitely a worth to go place in Guelph. It is perfect for a walk or running, there are some kilometers of trails. Lots of different tree species and you frequently spot some deers. A must go for a evening run very close to the university.

A lovely spot for an afternoon walk. Even saw a deer!

Update Feb. 16, 2021. Lots of fresh snow. Not icy now. Beautiful trail but gets icy in winter and some areas are quite hilly: not easy to go up or down without falling. (Otherwise, a 4 or 5 star rating would apply.) Beautiful trails through wooded areas but easy to get lost since they are not marked. We met someone who had an All Trails Map on his phone, but to get that, you need to pay a subscription fee to All Trails. We were there Jan. 8. Two entrances: Main one, by the traffic light is icy but much of the trail is not steep, so ice is less of a problem. After fresh snow, it won't be as icy. Other entrance: directly across the road from the Hanlon Creek Trail parking area. 505 Kortright Road West. This trail is much more hilly, narrower paths, ice was a problem when going up or down a hill.

Wonderful escape right in the city! Great for a gentle hike. The only annoying thing is that some dog owners ignore all the signage about keeping dogs on leash and treat it as a leash free park. Not cool!

Ade Dangerfield

A natural park with open fields and woodland. A good habitat for deer, porcupines and a variety of birds. Be ready for mosquitoes though as there are plenty of swampy areas with the creeks that runs through

Brad

Great place to walk, would highly recommend.

Lehna Shukster

My absolute favourite hike to visit. Although the trail isn't super well marked I would recommend looking up a route in advance or bringing along your phone with Google maps to ensure you don't end up on the other side of Guelph as I did.

Got even better after trail improvements with wood chips and gravel between Terraview Cres street and Kortright Zehrs. Now this trail is accessible to strollers and less muddy after a rainfall. The City of Guelph should do a better job maintaining community trails by providing at least raw materials like wood chips and gravel for small fixes to be done by community that is paying hefty property taxes

Beautiful trail's. One could walk on some board walk all the way to Hanlon Business Park. From across Zehrs plaza on Edinburg and Kortright

Jasmeet Singh

Amazing first deep and dense right in the middle of Guelph. Parking available at the park across the road. Bring your water, hiking shoes and phone fully charged. You will need it as the trails quickly open to multiple side trails and its easy to get lost after a few minutes of entering the forest.

Nathan Ramsahai

You can get lost in there if you get adventurous! Such a cool place with different landscapes within! Do a full perimeter loop for a couple hour walk! Or cut through the forest on the crazy trails! Dog park at one end is awesome too!!! Deer everywhere!!

Joey Harris

Lots of trails and scenery

Wonderful winter walk through the park! Such a tranquil, peaceful place in the middle of a town!!! My only concern is the amount of people who do not pick-up after their dogs...quite gross actually. Be responsible folks so we could all not have to worry about stepping on landmines. We had 2 dogs with us on our walk and left nothing behind on the trails.
