It offers a lot of programming for a museum of it's size. Well done exhibits with a concentration on local history.

JOHN BATT

E excellent mom's day tea and a museum also worth a tour

Kesia Kvill

Great little museum! Nice local gallery, and travelling/temporary exhibit space. One of the best "family galleries" I have ever seen! Additionally, the museum has been doing some fantastic evening programming that fosters relationships with the universities in the area and the local community.

Lyne Poulin

A quick visit during another event there.

Bazil Brown

Good history. Could be a bit more vibrant.

Sa'ad I. Mohamed

My family enjoyed the tour and exploring everything about Guelph.

Benji Tham

It's okay, not bad but not amazing. Smallish, decent arrangement of Guelph's history into thematic sections, but would have much preferred chronological arrangement.

Jessica Sedgewick

We love the childrens areas here. Its been a big hit with my kids since they started walking. I am always impressed with the quality of the programming they put on for school holidays, like March break and PA days.

In a very cool old building. Not being from Guelph, a lot of the history was new to me and interesting. Great kids area too.

Robin Vanheeswyk

I have been bringing kids to this museum for many years and every time we go I am always very happy we visited. Their staff are very friendly and helpful and their kids discovery area is amazing. You can tell a lot of through went into the centre. I would love to see some of the exhibits in the discovery centre change from time to time - new toys added etc but I understand the challenges with doing this. All in all we love it here!

The main floor houses rotating exhibits which showcased the town's brewing history on our visit and the third floor showcases permanent exhibits on the town's economic development. It's not a large museum but there was certainly enough for us to enjoy a couple hours. The museum building located right next to the Basilica of her Lady Immaculate provides an amazing architectural photo opp. Admission is only a small fee and it includes the McCrae museum which is a 5 minute drive away and is the doctor's house that has been preserved as a heritage site. Highly recommended for anyone interested in a bit of Guelph history.

Monica Mehmi

Cool to explore and learn more about Guelph.

Really quiet today, just us and the staff. We've been coming here for years, it's beautifully well kept, lovely grounds, make sure you leave time to walk around the church. There are displays for the adults (hands off) and areas for kids where the displays are hands on

The Guelph Civic Museum is a favourite spot in Guelph for our family. We review our membership annually. Our kids love the children’s room & every time they go they learn something new. It would be nice if they could do some changes and updates to the children’s room to make it more innovative and fresh. We love to bring a picnic lunch & eat it outside during warmer weather. The museum is in a beautiful location.

They sell poppy pins all year round! And great place to take the family or if you want to learn about local history.

Small, but focused and engaging. The information in the standing exhibits can be a bit dense, but the special exhibits are more balanced.

Had some time to kill so thought I'd check it out. Don't regret it at all. While small the collections at the museum are very detailed and interesting. Really gives you a great image of the history of Guelph from before colonisation until recent times. While only one floor is open due to renovations the staff was kind enough to give me a re-entry ticket for when I visit again. $5 entry is very affordable.

Thai Mac

Massive public funding for an unrelevant attraction!

Lovely place with many programs. I like the gift shops with many unique items, especially if one is looking for John McCrae memorabilia ... naturally, lots of items with red poppies image. The story guild holds their story telling here once every month during the winter on the first Wednesday of each month. It made for a very interesting evening.

The If you are into history and knowing about the historical importance of different cities, you'll be giving this place a 5 star. So beautifully and systematically organised. The ticket price was affordable. The star I deducted because I am not much into history and it didn't attract me as much as some other historic museums have done.

Awesome new version of the Guelph Civic Museum.

Jon Freeman

Very nice little museum which showcased the town's brewing history on the main floor and the third floor houses permanent exhibits illustrating the town's industrial development through WW1 and WW2 and the history of the convent. The second floor is a children's play area. It's not a huge museum but we easily spent 1½ hours here and admission includes the Dr. McCrae house which is a 5 minute drive away and showcases the incredible achievements of this great doctor which we spent a ½ hour. So was an enjoyable visit. Plus the museum is located next to the immense Basilica of her Lady Immaculate. Just an amazing structure which affords a nice photo op. Overall enjoyed a great afternoon. Recommended.

Local history well done. So many things to learn about this wonderful city. The finaces and political figures of its founding are fascinating. There is a long history recoded here dating back to the first nations inhabitants. Art meets history with local artists showcasing their work. The museum is housed in the old convent with displays connecting history to the building itself. The kids area is does a good job of connecting history and play in a creative way. The large scale models of the street car and sewing machine factory were two connection points i remember well. What a pleasant surprise to see th real life sewing machine building, (now repurposed), as we headed home. A great experience to deepen my appreciation for this gem of a city.

Lindsay

Great services and especially interesting for kids parties
