The beach could be more enjoyable if it were more accessible. Trying to climb over rocks with a cane is very hazardous. Also it needs more than one lifeguard. Otherwise a beautiful beach.

There is a lot of damage still, but the cleanup is coming along! Several groups of people are making an effort to keep the beach clean, and there was baby foxes! So even if the beach isn't your jam, foxes are everyone's jam. ????

Dominion Beach (Cape Breton Regional Municipality) – Dominion has it all. It is a long strand that is ideal for many activities. It boasts a long boardwalk that is used by residents year round. The beach itself is great for exploring – searching for beach glass, shells and rocks. It also has fabulous views of Lingan Bay and it is very common to see many types of sea birds, bald eagles, great blue herons and other wildlife at the beach. The beach is supervised in the summer, making it a safe place for families to swim. It has ample parking, showers, change rooms and washrooms. Being in Dominion, it is easily accessible by public transit from Sydney and Glace Bay. It is the closest guarded beach to the largest population centres in Cape Breton.

Great family friendly beach and great for a peaceful beach walk. Fantastic sunsets! Also has a short boardwalk that is great for scenic strolls. Pay attention to the hrs of operation as the park closes at dusk and the gate to the parking lot usually closes as well.

This was the first beach my 3 huskies experienced. Just the sound of the waves alone brings a peace washing over my mind. If a calm walk on the beach is for you, take this one. If you are taking your dogs, please be aware there are no trash bins (at least in the winter) for cleaning up after them, but do be certain to take care of them.

I love the ocean and this beach is very close to my home. If you park at the side parking lot near the old school house and walk over the bridge, that swimming area is all sand. Close to the bathroom/change house is very rocky. The bathrooms are flush toilets and there are a few outdoor showers. Life guards are on duty during the summer. There are gates that they lock at dusk so you can't get into the parking area.

A scenic, natural local beach. Dominion Beach is located about a 15 minute drive from Sydney, and just a few minute drive from the town of Glace Bay. The beach presents a boardwalk which sprawls along the side of the beach, giving a pleasant view. There is plenty of sand and space to sit and mellow out by the waves. I've been frequenting this beach all of my life. And while I've seen many others, it remains one of my favourites, as per it's beauty.

I love this beach its really beautiful. The beach itself is very clean. It's a great place to walk outside and still be socially distanced. Lots of people beach glass picking and just enjoying a peaceful walk with loved ones or as part of their daily routine.I gave it four stars because I hope whoever looks after the park will clean the rocks and sand off the part of the boardwalk that is covered over, probably from the 2019 Hurricane. It's a real shame to let the carefully built walkway be covered with sand and rock and not usable or accessible to some people with disabilities or people with strollers. I think as a provincial park it should be fixed up a bit so everyone can enjoy it. That being said It's a very nice area with lots of birds to watch as well.

Our first walk at the DOMINION BEACH. It wasn't a nice sunny day but our walk was very refreshing, with the pounding waves and sea air. The beach goes on for klms. A boardwalk if u prefer instead of walking on the sand. We will be going back there, for sure ????‍♀️????‍♂️.

Very poor execution for a beach. Tremendous number of rocks, mountains of washed up seaweed, and numerous rotting husks of dead sea life are all that await you here. Add to that relentless wind, and cold, salty water until the last week of August (though admittedly, there isn't much the municipality can do about those, they do nonetheless contribute to the overall experience). Sadly it's the 'best' beach that I know of here, only because all the rest are the exact same, but farther away.

The beach itself over the years has suffered from the effects of mother nature. Due to errosion a large part of the Sand dunes have been erased. None the less it provides both tourist and locals a terrific opportunity to take a refreshing dip in the cool waters of the Cabot Strait. Others take advantage of the board walk. It's also a very popular spot during the town's annual Seaside Daze celebration.

Dominion Beach is a great place for a walk but the town needs to fix up the boardwalk. There are gaps where you need to walk over rocks and I remember when the walk was full. Walking on the beach is always a choice but there are times when you would like to just walk or jog the boardwalk. Will definitely go back as the weather gets warmer and the sun is shining.

Had a great day. The weather was cold and crisp lol -33 and it took a minute to find a way safely to the beach but we had much luck finding sea glass. Different colors and sizes the beach is awesome with great views ....other people there were polite and smiley. Cant ask for much more!! Cape Breton Free to See ... priceless to enjoy!!

It has been such a long time since I have actually been on the beach and walked her shores, and I still love our beach... but what a shock when I saw the damage she took from the terrible storm that hit her a few years back. As my friend and I walked along looking for pretty shells in the rocks, we were able to see buried sections of the old boardwalk we were once able to enjoy. It was heartbreaking seeing the ruins.
