In town performing at the playhouse and my cast & I booked a 3 hour guided kayak tour around the islands! 116.00 each with taxes & fees booked easily online. I was very pleased when they called the day of to give us the option of rescheduling our tour due to rain for the following day. We only get 1 day off a week so we decided to go ahead with the tour rain or shine and as soon as we hit the water the clouds broke and we got some sun! PLUS it was just us and our tour guide which made it very intimate & fun. Our tour guide; Debbie was awesome! She went through the safety protocols with us and was very knowledgeable about the water and its attractions; taking us to a ship wreck, half moon bay which was GORGEOUS and pointing out wildlife! We were supplied with photos from the tour, fitted life jackets, rain coats & kayak skirts which were a huge plus in keeping us dry! Highly recommend this activity if you’re visiting the 1000 islands and want to do something outdoors & physical! We were all confident on the water/experienced paddlers so they can totally adjust the tour to your level. Thank you again!!

The 1000 islands in Gananoque is such a beautiful place and it only gets better on the water. We did the half day guided tour with Mark, who was just amazing, super patient and encouraging. He gave us excellent instructions on kayaking and navigating and he also gave us a lot of interesting information (and jokes) about the history and geological details of the area. Will definitely recommend and will return again.

We had a great time kayaking with this company. We had to book for a self-guided kayaking tour because guided tours were not available online, but at the counter, they were able to switch us to a guided tour. We were a group of five and Mark was an excellent guide. We weren't the most experienced lot, but Mark's guidance helped a lot. He was patient with us and his witty sense of humor added to the already awesome experience. He was eager to show us around and told us many stories throughout the tour. Despite our hesitation, he encouraged us to the last point of the tour. When the weather turned slightly rough and windy, he offered to tow two of our members. His levels of fitness are an inspiration! We had a wonderful kayaking tour and would really like to thank Mark for being our guide!

Scott and his team made and incredible camping experience for us. We went camping with our family to Mc Donald island, and 1000IKC provided us the water taxi and kayak rental services. Other than good quality service and very good customer service, they went beyond what we expected. On our water taxi trip, he helped us load and unload our camping equipment to the boat. he also, provided us a private FREE tour to other islands on our way to Mc Donald island. At the end of the trip when we got back to Gananoque, he let us use his gas BBQ+table+camping chairs for our entire crew for lunch. All with no extra fee! When you use their service, unlike many other small business, it is not just about the money. They care about their customers alot. I highly recommend them. Thank you Scott.

I rented a kayak for a full day, and everything was perfect! The staff were super helpful with having everything ready to go when you get there, made sure I knew all the water safety stuff, had all the gear, and suggested a few cool spots to check out.Once I got back, they gave me a few suggestions for eating locally, and it didn't disappoint either. I would go back to 1000 Islands Kayaking any time!

Leading up to our 1/2 day tour, the folks at 1KIKC were very accommodating and understanding. On the day of our tour, Dani (our guide) was jovial and great while we toured around islands, saw a shipwreck, saw a variety of sea birds, and spectacular scenery throughout. Incredible full day kayaking the 1000 islands! We crossed channels, cruised closed to the islands, passed over a shipwreck, even had an island picnic! There were four of us - a couple joined us last minute - and none of us had ever been kayaking, but had paddled a canoe. Within the first hour, we were all paddling like pros - except for the occasional wobble! We all discovered that the kayaks they'd picked for us were quite tough to flip, even though it felt like we came close a few times. Truly an unforgettable experience.

Afternoon half day tour, with Aaron as our guide. Staff provided good understandable instruction, and had equipment ready to go. Facility was well organized, clean and tidy. Lockers and wet bags are available. Guild provided paddling techniques, with a good overall balance of local knowledge, general conversation, and silence to "absorb it all in". Suggest considering a glass and hat regardless if sunny or not. Also a snack. Space about zipper of PFD seems like perfect spot for a bag a chips.

A yearly tradition... We just love reserving a kayak each and getting brought by the team to the island campground we reserved. The campsites on the islands are amazing - tranquil with all the basic facilities (no electricity of course). The views are outstanding and you can kayak around the island for days without any risk of getting bored.

The location is absolutely gorgeous though, so if you can get there early you should go for the full day as you can't see very much in just a few hours.

I did the sunset tour with Colin and Andrew yesterday and was truly amazed by their patience and instructions. They were really patient with everyone as most people have not kayaked before. They provided great instructions on different strokes and gave us time to practice. It was really nice to see the islands while kayaking! We did the full day guided tour with Andrew. We highly recommend going with a guide for many reasons. We are experienced kayakers, but we learned a much better technique, got to know the history of some islands, stopped in some beautiful locations, and had someone to help us better navigate the waters and large channels. We learned A LOT and really enjoyed ourselves.

I was referred to this company by a family member who spoke highly of them. My girlfriend and I booked a half day tour that included instruction on safety and kayaking basics. The staff, and our guide in particular (Melissa), were very friendly and knowledgeable. They used quality gear and kayaks (mostly Wilderness Tsunamis) which made the experience all the more comfortable and enjoyable. We will definitely return here for another kayaking adventure in the near future.

Our family of four (2 adults and 2 teens) just completed a half-day guided tour with 1000 Islands Kayaking, and had an incredible time. Enough challenge to keep us all interested, beautiful surroundings, plus some historical/cultural background provided by the great guides. I would highly recommend this program and plan on returning for their certification programs.

Lovely experience with the 3 hour tandem kayak rental. They give you everything you need - PFD, dry bag, case for your phone (though it does fit nicely inside the pfd) and a waterproof map. It helps to have your smartphone on the water for navigation too, the islands can be disorienting. Not recommended for first time kayakers. Only negative is that you have to carry your kayak down from there facility to the water (about 60ft).

Great equipment. Knowledgeable staff and an awesome point to launch into the islands. I took an impromptu overnight trip to Aubrey island. Within 30 minutes I was ready to go. Left my rainfly on the mainland and they were nice enough to come deliver a new tent. Can’t recommend this place more. Will be back!

I've rented kayaks for camping four times from here, and the most recent time was the best yet. It's another level of service - the staff here are fantastic! We got caught in some very bad weather on the final day, and they offered to shuttle our less-adventurous paddlers home. For all of us arriving back after a chilly wet September paddle, they greeted us with smiles and hot chocolate. The Wilderness Systems Tempest series boats are some of my favourite, and are very well maintained. Top notch equipment, waterproof maps, PFDs, and they also rent camping equipment.

Terrible service. My boyfriend and I had a half day kayak rental this weekend for his birthday, already paid for, and we waited out the drizzly morning for the forecast sunshine in the afternoon. However, when we showed up at 1pm, the whole business was locked up. We couldn't see any signs anywhere indicating a reason for the closure, and it was sunny outside. (They advertise as rain or shine anyways, you aren't allowed to cancel your reservation due to poor weather.) We hung out by the entrance for a while knocking, then called to get their voicemail with no message about a closure. I searched their website for some notice and went through my emails. Nothing. We ended up going to a couple other businesses in the area asking for help finding our kayaks, but they were unsuccessful helping us. A gentleman finally suggested that maybe they had shut down because there were some boat races going on that day? We couldn't figure it out. We spent about an hour and a half waiting around the closed business, and it kind of ruined the birthday. Plus they had already also taken our $100! The next day we stopped in to ask what had happened. They explained that they had closed due to weather. They had attempted to call their clients in the morning (my phone is on plane mode when I sleep so I didn't get it). When I expressed my frustration for them wasting our day by not changing their voicemail or putting up any signs or emails or putting a notice on their website, they seemed irritated. I asked for a discount on our rental, and even after talking to the manager, nothing was done. I wouldn't book there again, and hope my review helps others avoid having their day ruined.

We went there for a self guided tour on the first weekend of October and had an absolutely gorgeous time! Everything was made very simple - we were given directions, a map, paddling tips, safety instructions, and all the equipment needed. The staff was amazing! Most importantly, the views and experience were wonderful and unique! This was the highlight of our trip and we've been telling all our friends about it. Don't hesitate!

Andrew was our seasoned guide, can’t really appreciate him enough. We booked for full day tour. Andrew showed us to watch before crossing the road (I meant the channel????), checked out few beautiful bays and a small trail to get to a beautiful vantage point looking over the channel. We were never rushed , Andrew took us at our pace, and we just finished at right time before getting tired close to 4. I will certainly book again to explore other islands.

Rented some kayaks for a day exploring the 1000 islands. Friendly helpful staff, had everything you need lockers dry bags maps of the area all included in the price. Map is easy to follow so getting lost is pretty hard. Plenty of natural park islands you can get off at with toilets and pick nick benches.The scenery was beautiful and defiantly a highlight of my visit to Canada.

You can get so close to the islands and even go on to an island. We had a perfect lunch there with fresh prepared sandwiches. The front entrance was not clearly visible so I had to walk around the entire building and still miss the entrance. Our guide was young so he did not have the presentation skills of an older person. The trip would have been great had our guide been more vocal and did some rowing activities to entertain us. The weather was cloudy and warm with no winds so the water was calm and ideal for not getting burned. Next time, I would definitely rent the kayaks and tour the islands myself.

Would highly recommend tripping with 1000 Islands Kayaking! They are so passionate about what they do and the islands around are absolutely gorgeous. We did a 5 day kayak course and Scott was such an incredible instructor - so knowledgeable, so patient, and so much fun to be around! He was the best at ensuring we were comfortable but at the same time coaching us to do our best, and the course was jam packed full of great information and lots of practice. We learned SO much in the 5 days but it also felt like an outdoors vacation!

Dani was very friendly and knowledgeable about the region - we learned a lot and definitely got some history that we would have never heard on our own. The kayaking itself was beginner friendly (although we had kayaking experience and it was great for us too). This was our favourite activity in Gan and we would definitely recommend checking it out when you are in the region. Booking during the fall was great because the waterways were quiet and the scenery was beautiful.

Was easy to book, the area is beautiful to kayak around. They provide waterproof maps and give you a great explanation. They include the life jackets, and everything that you need. Covid procedures were in place and was safe. Only negative is that they make you lift the kayak yourself over to the dock, and didn't volunteer to help. Also, when you return back from kayaking for so many hours and having to carry the kayak from the doc and up the hill can be a challenge. I have a lot of upper body strength so this was not an issue for me, but this would be an issues for others. Also I have rented kayaks at many places and this is the first time where they never offered to carry the kayak to the dock.

This place only operates in the warmer months but our booking was very smooth, it was done online and we arrived early. We did a half day morning tour. Kaleb was our tour guide and he did a fantastic job explaining some local history and showing us the area. They start off the tour going against the wind which is perfect so that later when your tired you can take it a wee bit easier. Occasionally the tour guide would gather us in an area that is sheltered from the wind and waves to regroup and share some knowledge, when we got to half moon bay, he even gave out free granola bars. It was my wife's first time kayaking and we got a tandem kayak and it worked out well for us, we enjoyed every minute of it and the tour took us to some very peaceful and beautiful places to paddle. Will definitely reccomend.

I had a great experience on the 3 hour guided kayak! Our guide, Mike, was knowledgeable about the area and had a lot of fun facts to share. I was worried that it would be too fast or intense and my arms would be sore, but that was not the case at all. We kept a slower pace, stopping together for some history and views as breaks so I didn't feel too tired after. Such a fun way to see the islands, I would do it again.

It was really busy when we got there and it took a while for us to get into the water after checkout. Staff did their best for the amount of employees they had. Terrible signage that isn't clear on where to go to get checked in. Price was a little steep (135$ for 2 kayaks for 3 hours). That being said, once we got on the water, experience was terrific. Views are great and the equipment does the job very well. Free dry bag rental is a great touch.

Once you've dealt with the painful parking situation, what an amazing, relaxing experience. The crew is very helpful and the kayaks very comfortable and easily maneuverable for beginners on the St-Lawrence. Past the main crossing, so many creeks, bays and small gems await. 3 hours are barely enough to take your time and enjoy them ; a half day feels like a much better option in retrospect.

A few friends and I on a cottage trip decided to go to the 1000 Islands Kayaking Co to spend a few hours kayaking. We initially found the price to be more expensive than we expected, however following the experience we realized that it was well worth the money. They have high quality equipment. Furthermore we were given formal instructions on how to kayak as well as advice on how to safely navigate through the area. During our exploration of the area we even encountered their tour guide who was more than willing to help us with directions and shared suggestions for where to go next. Overall, we had an enjoyable experience. Definitely a great place to go kayaking the first time.

Absolute gem, we went for full day tour, our group had lots of beginners with no kayaking experience, yet Kevin (our Guide) managed to make the day memorable, end of the day entire group was able to kayak solo without fear, We did a round trip of 12 Kms in and out of deep waters, went around lots of islands, saw ship wrecks and beaver dam. The lunch provided was awesome. Overall it was worth the trip. Thanks again to Kevin and Grace for making this happen!!!! definitely will do the fall camp over tour.

We were a group of 6 adults and did the morning 1/2 day trip with Collin as our guide, and it was fantastic!!!! Collin was super knowledgeable and shared all kinds of great information about the area. We had such a great experience on this 3-hour tour which, happily, did not leave us shipwrecked, although we did see one ;) Our guide was Andrew. He was fantastic. We are relatively new to kayaking, so were looking forward to some instruction on paddling as well as the tour of the 1000 Islands. We were not disappointed! The only thing that might have made this better was if we could have gone out for pints afterwards. Maybe when COVID isn't such a going concern. 10/10 would recommend this place. We did the afternoon half day guided tour with Katie (our tour guide) and it was one of the best kayaking experiences for everyone in our group of four. Really enjoyed learning about the individual islands we went across. As beginners, we felt extremely comfortable because Katie was able to teach us basic techniques effectively. While being super fun, she was also considerate of every member and even offered to take a small break when one of us was tired. It's great that the tour guide takes pictures as well. We were offered granola bars and hot chocolate at the end as the weather was quite chilly. Super thoughful touches all along!

Wow, this is the best kayaking company we have ever encountered and we kayak often. We went by to ask about 1/2 day guided tour and they were able to match us to a guide for the next day right away. Our guide Kathy was patient and knowledgeable. We learned new kayaking skills and the history around the islands. These people are great in what they do. We took their shuttle to McDonald island and somehow due to the rush they could not take us there at the time we had booked. They admitted their mistake and did their best to take us to the island as quickly as possible in an alternative boat. On the way back from the island, the shuttle was right on time. Scott and Tyler know the rivers well, its history and took us on a short round around the island. Surely recommend this place for shuttles and for renting kayaks.

I would highly reccomend 1000 Island Kayaking! As a non experienced paddler, I found the staff were helpful and professional not to mention extremely patient. I was with my granddaughter on her Girl Guide trip, and i wasn't sure what to expect, but the staff had stories and lots of information about the 1000 islands which made it interesting and thier personalities made it so much fun!! All three of us (ages: 51, 21 and 15) were first time kayakers and the pace was leisurely and easy. The weather was perfect. What really made our day though was our guide, Danny (I hope I got the spelling right). She was awesome!! Her knowledge of the area, explanations, love of nature made the trip extra special. She took pictures of us throughout the day and they were sent to us via email within hours of finishing. This is something I would love to do again if I'm in the area. Rented kayaks for over night island camping. The kayaks are great. Both the single and tandem have quite a bit of storage room. Tandem: at the end, middle and front, single: front and back. you can fit a tent, small folding chairs and most your camp gear. Keep it mind your restricting factor is the size of the opening of each of the storage compartments on the kayaks, so our data k fit but not the hiking bag. They provide waterproof maps, rope, vests, dry bags (highly recommended for sleeping bag and matts) . The folks were very friendly, there is a range of knowledge of the area. Some of the younger kids working there didn't know how long our kayak trip would take but they were still helpful and pointed us to the person who did.

I rented some kayaks from 1000 Islands Kayaking for a long weekend camping trip and would certainly recommend their services. Coordinating rental was incredibly easy with very consistent email communication going back and forth over the course of a few months. We ended up renting Libra XTs to ensure we had enough space for our gear, and to mitigate the risk of capsizing. They were in typical shape for rental gear; old, but certainly still functional. Where these guys exceeded our expectations was with safety. I got a call and message from the office the night before our return trip and was notified that there would be high winds nearing 60km/hr and that they would arrange a shuttle to pick us up the next day if we so desired. Unfortunately we were a bit strapped for time and were pretty far down the pick up order so our group considered paddling back. When I called back to let them know this, they informed me that another driver was available to come pick us up earlier, and did so promptly. I suspect they went out of their way to get another employee in to ensure we did not attempt such a risky trip. To those of you who might be upset about trip cancellations or delays due to weather, you must understand that bad weather does not just mean you'll get wet... it may mean you never come back. Thanks to Scott for coming in to pick us up and the smooth ride. Special thanks to River and Debbie for coordinating our pickup (and the many, many others) and saving us from ourselves that day!

Great day. The 1000 Islands are beautiful for kayaking, only spoiled by some speeding boats. But the guide and company are very safety conscious, and their kayaks ride any wakes beautifully. The company even sent out a boat to make sure all the returning kayakers got back safely, as our return time coincided with the end of a fishing derby, when all the fishing boats were racing back to the same dock. Our guide, Andrew, was very adaptable to the wishes and needs of the paddlers.

I had been keeping my eye on the weather and Saturday was looking pretty nasty. On Thursday I called to see if we could move our reservation to the Friday (the next day), as the weather was more promising and they double checked the weather for me, agreed and changed it without question! When we got there, we were greeted by Mike who has a love and knowledge for paddling that we greatly appreciated. With the map we were given, the high quality kayaks and gear and information/advice we were given beforehand, our day was safe, adventurous and soooo much fun!! We’re already planning another trip!!! 10 out of 10 would recommend!!

Did the 3hr Guided Tour with Lucas on Aug.23rd. Great scenery! Saw the remains of a sunken ship, saw lots of cormorants, turtles sunbathing on driftwood, a beautiful heron, some loons, and a group of swans. By far the best part of the tour, was seeing Half Moon Bay. What a gem hidden in the 1000 Islands!! I strongly recommend the tour! Lucas was an excellent and knowledgeable tour guide! Headed back again for the sunset tour on Friday!

We did a full-day kayaking tour in mid-September, and it was amazing. Andrew, our tour guide, was fantastic! Very knowledgable about both the area and kayaking in general. He made a point of asking us what we wanted to get out of the day, and tailored the tour accordingly. He made sure we all knew what we were doing, giving us pointers throughout the day, so never once were we nervous as novice paddlers. They provide all the equipment, and will even take pictures for you. The scenery and location is gorgeous, and you'll see things from a kayak that you'd never get to see from a big tour boat. Highly recommend, and cannot wait to do it again!

awesome tour, well organized, great for all levels, safety protocols followed, good equipment over all, interesting historical information, guide was awesome and well spoken. Would suggest using a few kayaks with bigger cockpits such as Clearwater Iqualiut and Inuvik but over all kayaks were great. We did take our own life jackets just for comfort but the ones provided were definitely suitable. Washrooms were close to the start/finish. Very pleasant adventure - thank you

The kayaks (all equipment) are great quality and very well maintained They are very well set up for COVID safety and security which was very much appreciated. Did a two night self guided tour with a friend. We rented the Libra XL kayak plus the camping equipment for two nights. The team was great, super helpful, calmly explained everything about the kayak, the islands and the route to the islands. Gave us more than we booked like rain jackets and waterproof smartphone case. This guy's will shuttle loads of people straight to a campsite you have booked without a permit at 8am waking you up instead of bringing people to the main island dock where the rest of the boats park and there are no campsites... Great disregard for privacy and courtesy.

We had two first-timers, and we were given a full safety and kayaking 101 demonstration. The water was calm and the area was incredibly beautiful! First time kayaking on the St. Lawrence and the 1000 Islands. Colin was very helpful. He gave proper and detailed instructions. Helped us get set up and launch into the water. The map that is provided gives you the kayaking routes and which islands to explore. We were able to stop on McDonald Island and have a picnic. It was perfect! Even for a first timer, I felt confident and comfortable. And most of all, enjoyed our time! Definitely worth it. And yes we did use a tandem double kayak.

The perfect kayaking trip! Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area and made the trip interesting and informative. The instruction was top notch and provided me with a great level of comfort to be able to enjoy the paddle. The distance covered was judged perfectly to be well within a beginner's capability; we were able to see quite a lot of the islands but still enjoy the paddling. An added bonus was the photos taken by our guide and provided via email. Such great memories! I would definitely do this tour again.

This weekend was our second year renting kayaks from Thousand Islands Kayaking Co. for our annual long weekend trip. We started with 3 single and 1 tandem kayak. 2 of the rudders for the single kayaks were broken and didn’t realize it until we were in the water. We had to unload and reload the kayaks again since this was a 3-day trip. An hour and a half into our trip, my back started to hurt and we had to stop to check. The back rest of the first seat of the tandem was all the way down and the back straps were loosened. My back was rubbing against the hard plastic and had a bad rash. Since this incident happened on our first day, I had to deal with a bad rash for the entire weekend. When we returned the kayaks, I wanted to talk to someone who is in charge and Mary (Office Manager) said she can help. When I told her about the incident; her answer was “what do you want from me??” - she told me that she cannot comment on the service since she doesn’t know who served us and started having conversation over my fully lisenced personal PFD is legal or illegal in Ontario... I had to explain her that my PFD was fully licensed and nothing to do with my back rash, your staff served us and I rented the kayak from you so it is your service issue... what I wanted is a proper apology for what I went through entire weekend and to make sure your boats are properly inspected... I had to personally ask the owner, Scott, that I wanted to show him the kayak and explain the issue... he was also very dismissive. Be very careful with this business and avoid them if you can.. Things are great when all is fine. When you go back with an issue; they have a very different attitude. Dismissive and not taking responsibility over their rentals...

My wife and I took a half day kayak trip and we had an amazing experience. Our guide for the trip was Andrew, and he provide thorough, expert guidance and advice. The kayaks, paddles, life jackets and all equipment provided was all recently sanitized and in very good condition. We were instructed on how to paddle the correct way, and how to be safe on the water. We were fortunate to have great weather which made our experience most enjoyable. During our almost 3 hour kayak trip through a portion of the 1000 islands, our guide provide some historic facts about the islands and landmarks. We had a great time and highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to experience the 1000 islands from a kayak point of view!

Just finished four days of guided paddling. A great experience! Our group of six adults rented 3 double kayaks and covered a lot of water. Guides were fun and we learned a lot, saw beautiful scenery, had great picnics and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Equipment provided is very good quality. One caution--double kayaks are very heavy and you have to lug them to and from the launch and take-outs!

What a gorgeous trip! Nosh, our guide was really friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the history and geography of the area. He checked with the people at the office to make sure we wouldn't get caught in a thunderstorm and took really good care of us. We stopped at a cute little island for lunch and had some time to do a short hike. This is great day trip and the best way to explore the area by water. I'd do it again in a heart beat!
