Fantastic tribute to Terry Fox here as well.
The sign isn't that great...but there is a crosswalk beside it that takes you to the ocean at Dallas Rd. The views are beautiful and tourists and locals love this area. The sign is more somewhere to park the tourist bus. The real destination is the ocean view. There are steps down to the ocean once you cross the street but they're very steep. Most people enjoy the view from above.
It's okay

If you are visiting Victoria you gotta stop here! It's just fun to be at mile zero in Canada take your pic and cross it off your bucket list
World class, residents are so lucky. Magical views
Beautiful place
a must visit place in Victoria, ha ha ha.
There’s nothing much to look at.
Nice to see a statue of Terry Fox but really not worth the trip just to see a statue. Maybe if you have some time to kill go visit.
Very good monument
Kinda boring... but right next to beautiful little coves and beaches to explore... and the wonderful Beacon Hill park.
It's exactly what you see in the pic, nothing more. The park it's in is awesome though. They have a cool totem and an awesome view of the ocean.
Gorgeous place to go for a walk in the Spring/Summer days. A perfect starting place, as there are a few small beaches to experience and it blends into Beacon Hill Park.
This is a place where many a visiter loves to stop by and take there pictures at.
This is where I am starting a (hopefully) cross Canada cycling trip.
(Translated) Must have seen before when in Victoria. (Original) Muss man schon gesehen haben wenn man in Victoria ist.
Had an awesome time walking around the area with my family. Before moving to the island, we traveled from Ontario and stopped at most of the monuments across Canada honoring Terry Fox and his courage to take on this journey. Just steps from the zero mile monument. Beautiful views of the ocean, especially at sunset walking along the beachfront or the trails above. Beacon hill park has some great views up on the hill with the Canada flag ????????. Got our exercise for sure, along with plenty of fresh air, sunshine ????and friendly faces..
Lovely statue, good space around it, photo op.
Funny to see that when you actually live at the other end of this road
Kind of meh. Tour buses always seem to be stopped here.

I finally got to see this monument after all these years. One more thing off my bucket list.
(Translated) The place has a very nice view (Original) El lugar tiene una vista muy bonita
Inspiring
A very sacred place, to commemorate hero; Terry Fox; and the passion he has for cancer research, especially when it came to the younger folks.
Start of the yellow brick road.
Happy to be respectful here.
Beautiful place with a great view of the United States. The salish sea looks really beautiful on a bright Sunny day. Lots of wind, no crowd makes this place more beautiful. The best part of course is that you can see the Olympic National Park from in the front before the beach. This is my second time there, me and my wife really enjoyed the place. Given a chance I would definitely go back there.
nice
Good place to see Round eyed impaired people
Not much time to do here, just an important mile stone of course.
It’s a monument
(Translated) Monument to mark the start of the Trans-Canada Highway. A statue of Terry Fox nearby (Original) Monument pour souligner le début de la Transcanadienne. Une statue de Terry Fox a proximité
Is it a 0 or a O
Not quite worth the trip...kind of hard to find as well.
Great place to take a picture.
Not dislike but kind of boring great access to the sea shore at the end of Douglas st
Mike Zero is actually quite cool to see! It would be nicer if it was more accessible by foot, but even just driving by is quite cool, and would recommend with your visit to Beacon Hill Park. There's just something special about knowing you were at one end of a road that spans across Canada.
Looking forward to hosting a Fashion Show here in the near future!????
A place that one can get positive inspiration when you are facing obstacle.
It was something that you have to go to at least once while in Victoria.
Great monument
Beautiful place with great view.
Ohhh. Ahhh. A statue on a cut grass median. What a site to see. Are you serious? Tax payers spend money on this? A great man with purpose and a causes died and this is how the city chose to remember him. We can do better.
It's a sign.
???? awesome location to explore, even at night throughout the trails at some points you need a flashlight it's fun and amazing experience
(Translated) Walking very pleasant (Original) 散步走走非常愉快
Mile "0" start of highway 1 Of 4,860 miles to St John New Foundland. Terry Fox planned to finish here. April 12, 1980 – St John's, Newfoundland: Terry dips his artificial leg into the Atlantic Ocean and begins his odyssey. He ran close to 42 kilometres (26 miles) a day through Canada's Atlantic provinces, Quebec and Ontario. However, on September 1st, after 143 days and 5,373 kilometres (3,339 miles), Terry was forced to stop running outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario because cancer had appeared in his lungs.
A simple sign marking the beginning of the trans-Canada highway. They could've done more than just a simple wooden sign, if you ask me.
Seems like many tourists don't get it when visiting this photo op. Maybe they will make out bronzeTerri in the background of their shot once they get home. Ha ha.
Tourists attraction and the start of The Island. Terry Fox ended his run for Cancer here. A Beautiful spot to reflect on life's journey.
Love it
A good experience for travellers
Wish there was better signage to explain what this place is.
Was there more for the rest of the scenery and was more impressed with the Terry Fox statue. Much historical significance in both though. If you have extra time on your trip, I would suggest checking it out, but not high up on the priority list. So many more interesting and beautiful things to see in Victoria.
Great place to get a picture taken or selfie. It's also very close to the off leash area for dogs on Dallas Rd.
Our Hero
Good spot to start the 2 mile walk to fisherman's wharf. Beautiful view of the ocean along the way.
Nice scenery
Surprisingly exciting.
Where it all begins (at least on this side of the country). For a real challenge, start here and work your way to the other side.
Great place to take a walk.
Cool
Cool monument not a lot to do though
This is where Terry started his Marathon of Hope...A place that holds special place in my heart. Respect
The monument itself is alright. But it's in the far end of the Beacon Hill park which is nicely manicured.
(Translated) This is where Terry Fox aimed. He is a great hero in Canada, so I recommend you to check his story and visit here. You can see that it's not just the origin of the Canadian Crossroads. Terry Fox! Mile Zero!
Picture time
Chris Hansen was here once
How can you not stop here and admire the significance of this location. It’s also across the road from the stairs down to a beach area and not far from the government buildings.
Beautiful spot for pictures. Right along side the ocean.
What a disappointment this must be for visitors. A major milestone marked by a simple sign, no explanations or maps. Maybe the council could pare back one of their gold plated bike lanes no one uses and pony up for a decent display or the tourist board...just saying
Beautiful, possibly my dog's very favourite part of the planet.
(Translated) Mile zero monument and statue of Terry Fox. (Original) Mile zero monument en standbeeld van Terry Fox.
A must if you want to pay your respects to Terry Fox. Significant area of interest for Canada and cancer research foundation.
Considering I've spent countless hours driving on the Trans-Canada Highway 1, was really cool to actually go to the most western end of it. The park nearby is also really pretty.
Fun
It's a historic spot, the western end of the Trans-Canada Highway. The marker is huge, over (a guess) five feet tall and 7-8 feet wide. It works not as a park but a signifier of something significant to Canada's past, present and future. In that sense it also is a small-scale monument. Go see it if you're ever in Victoria.
(Translated) Leaving Canada! (Original) Le départ du Canada !
It was nice to see this part of Canada's history. don't bring your good shoes here because there are a lot of deposits on the ground.
The start of the 7,821 km Trans Canada highway. Hope to one day see the other end too.
For me this is a special place. I used to have a pic of my Dad sitting at this spot on a sunny day, a year or so before I was born. The memory of this story has faded, and I can't remember what side he was sitting on. So we sat on both.... love you Dad.. miss you..
It's a wide, open greenspace adjacent to the ocean. And a poignant reminder of a courageous Canadian.

Nice
A monument to an incredible Canadian. We will always remember Terry Fox.
Beautiful day I was there when the truck lights parade was starting.... Amazingly beautiful
History, memory and emotion
Beautiful walk along the ocean with mountain views
Great to see history of highway
mile 0 ..................the statue of Terry Fox Located here is wonderful and is similar to the one located in Thunder Bay, Ontario. It is a short walk to the Ocean and Beacon Hill Park
I find this area really great for parking!

Fantastic sign, very historical
Great spot to watch the sunset. There are awesome walking and biking paths. Lots of beach access down to some excellent spot to look out into the ocean. Sometimes you will be lucky enough to see some marine life. There are orcas, seals, otters, and all sorts of birds.
(Translated) Other than this monument, there is nothing very special, but it is good because it is a commemorative place. An important spot with an old fashioned sign, and a couple of newer monuments to people that have started or finished trans-Canada challenges
Loved it. Great views and scenery. Beautiful weather in late June
A good place to start out grapeview
Beautiful historical place
Glad we went here.
There's nothing here except a couple monuments and a patch of grass and about 400 tourists at any given time. There are no stores or shops or benches or anything of that nature.
Beautiful stroll day or night. You can enjoy the grassy meadows on the cliffs, or go down to the rocky shores at low tide. See seals and other wildlife.
Trans Canada Highway 1 ends here at Sea, great views must visit place
Cool piece of history right next to an awesome statue of terry fox
Nice place
Basically just a big sign that says "Mile 0." Its a quick place to visit if you understand the historical significance of the TransCanada Highway.
Unassuming start to a long highway across the country. Nice to see the Terry Fox monument, but that's the only reason to spend any time here.
A must visit location to prove you're at the very left coast of Canada! Used to frequent the spot when I used to play Pokémon Go as it is a popular gym to raid or battle.
Just off beacon hill park. A beautiful place to go and relax, picnic, or sight see..
Bert O Thomas was the first to swim across the Juan De Fuca Strait, back in 1955. "Dreams are made possible if you try"
Memorable!
Nice beaches around this part of town and can have fires year round.
This is a beautiful monument, erected to symbolize the beginning of Canada's most iconic highway. It feels so special to stand at this monument and think about the effort of so many labors working day and night, summer and winter to build such a magnificent highway. It also has a plaque of Stephen Fonyo's inspiring run across Canada to raise awareness for Cancer. Reading these interesting stories makes us think about the sacrifices made by humankind for the benefit of others. This monument might not be too big or extravagant but it surely is inspiring and motivating.

Just a sign
Beautufil green space just to sit and relax.
Located in picturesque Beacon Hill Park in British Columbia’s capital, Mile 0 is one of the symbolic starting points of the Trans-Canada Highway on the Pacific Coast. The highway, conceived in the late 1940s and constructed between 1950 and 1971, was the longest uninterrupted highway in the world at the time of its completion. Spanning a whopping 4,860 miles (7,821 kilometers), it runs across all 10 of Canada’s provinces, crossing the likes of the Rocky Mountains and the wide-open prairies of central Canada. There is no officially recognized starting point or “mile zero,” St. John’s, Newfoundland, also has a “mile zero” of their own, being the Atlantic end of the route. Located nearby is a statue of runner Terry Fox, who attempted to run the length of Trans-Canada Highway to raise money for cancer research, before succumbing to the disease himself at around the midpoint of his trek. It’s just a beginning of the road.
Good place to remember and celebrate where high way #1 started.
The real attraction is the park that surrounds the monument with amazing little paths that let you see some of the natural beauty that Victoria offers.
Yup, it's a monument. You look at it, maybe even take pictures!
Good spot for a picture and reflection on the legacy of Terry Fox.

It's there.
Sweet
Beginning of the Trans Canada Highway...cliffs near by offer beautiful views of the straits near by????
excellent photo ops; usa across the water
Nothing too special here... not worth stopping for, but a place to park to access an ocean view.
Love to go down the stairs and walk along the big rocks ????
I woult.lke to have a shelter that at night tienrd into q
A really very motivational place and always really a different feeling when ever i visit there I'll suggest one should definitely go there once atleast
Nothing fancy, but nice to see especially if you drove a very long way on the Trans Canada highway.
Very touching and reflective place. Terry Fox monument is a must see- love that the monument is facing the ocean. Terry, you made it, all the way and further.
I had no idea this existed but I was happy to check it out. PS. There are flowers blooming in February! Is this Canada?
Just a Canadian monument for Hwy 1.
Monument
Planning a cross Canada rode trip from Vancouver. This is the place where you wanna start.
These photos are actually taken at the beach below the Mile Zero monument, in the 500 block of Dallas Road. This is the site where my friend Andreas Mehl/ Radojewski had fatal heart attack. Such a symbolic location to die, when Andreas was a well known marathon runner, just like his Idol Terry Fox whose Monument is just above! For me this is a memorial site and also a place of great Beauty. I hope that others will remember my friend there.
A hidden spot but with exploring
The beginning of the Trans-Canada highway in Victoria BC.
Beautiful garden with amazing ocean view ahead.
People from around the world come to this spot. Sure it's mile zero. But I think it as the starting point of Canada. Or the end of you are coming form east coast. Either way you got one fantastic few of the ocean and it's right next to Beacon Hill park. Plus it doesn't hurt that Beacon drive-in is just a short walk away too.
Spectacular!

A nice monument for the Trans-Canada Highway.
I run a bootcamp here and it's always very inspirational to do so beside the statute of Terry Fox. What an absolutely AMAZING person. Having said that... The actual sight isn't quite as beautiful as what you'll see if you travel 200 meters south down to the ocean
Amazing testiment to ana amazing man!
Start of the Trans Canada Highway, the highway that goes all the way across Canada! This is a cool monument to see, and really helps you appreciate the incredible length of the highway. It's right by the ocean and situated in Beacon Hill Park, so if you're paying the monument a visit you can also spend some time by the ocean or walking through the park! That would make for a great summer's afternoon.
Beautiful monument to a beautiful young man that did so much for so many before he went to heaven, and after.
It's a quasi interesting curiosity, but really not that amazing. In saying that there always seems to be one or two tour busses parked here so I presume many find it amazing or something. The area around is fantastic, with the beach/ocean and Beacon Hill park all across the street, so to stop, see it, say, "ok, I've seen it", take a selfie, and then spend several hours in the surrounding area is well worth the time. 3 stars for monument but 5 for the surrounding area.
Hwy 1. Very nice highway. Terry Fox statue was cool too.
It's one end of the longest road in the world... a major landmark with amazing vistas!
Nope. Just nope.
Really emotional place to visit . Great to teach kids about one of our great Canadian Heroes.
Did Mile 0 US1 last year, had to get Mile 0 Trans Canada 1 this year. How many can say they've done both in 6 months by automobile?
A beautiful place to walk and sight seeing
Very interesting spot
Historic Terry Fox site!
Such a serene place. Had a nice walk with the kids around the park as well.
nice place

It's the beginning of the Trans Canada Hwy which will take you through to Halifax N.S. Over the years it's been the start point of swimmers crossing the Jaun de Fuca Strait to Port Angeles and the beginning or end point of everything from bicycle races to marathon runners. It's a must-see among Victoria's many site-seeing places.

Nice park. Popular with tourists.
A quick stop a the entrance to Beacon Hill Park.
It's ok
Honestly, the grass didn't taste good, bad texture too.
Nifty little monument to mark one end of the trans-Canada highway! You can park in one of the small nearby roads and walk over to snap a few pictures. Of course, there are lots of geese around, so you probably don't want to hang around for too long. Other than that, it's a great landmark!

Start of TransCanada highway. You can pick up a geocache here as well.
Cool stop. Lousy bathrooms
Not much to see here unless you love beautiful scenic views of the straight! ;)
The place that you can chill out for every
I just love Victoria and always have!
It would have been a 5 stars if there's a public washroom :-)
Terry fox. Nice beach. Great picture spot
Simple, one end of the Trans Canada Highway.
An essential Canadian landmark
Details? Like what. It's a freakin' lawn with a sign that states 'Mile 0'. Seriously...
it's just a statue walk down to the beach its better
Set on at the corner of a big ground with flowerbed decorated houses on the road bordering the garden.Canadian highways start measuring from here.Get good picture here with the houses also if you can.
Interesting start of a long journey.
Nothing special in here, but beside the monument there is a beautiful path where you can have some good pictures relax and enjoy a lot
A nice clean space with accessible parking and a great photo backdrop. Just a few steps from the Terry Fox memorial.
Super relaxing, beautiful view
The monument is just a pig patch of grass with a little statue. Not much too see there. Off to the side the ocean view is quite nice especially on a sunny but breezy day.
A nice patch of grass with a few trees and a good view. In the middle of 3 roads so not super peaceful. No amenities. To small and to much traffic to be good for dogs, though it's right in the middle of some really good dog walking.

I was so joyful to stand in front of the 'Mile 0' monument. It is an interesting place to take a photo here.
Cool place to see
Clean
Have to come here while in Victoria
Love it
Feels absolutely inspired each time I visit this Location.
Victoria landmark very popular with tourists.
My tour guide to Victoria was generous enough to allow me to check out this monument and take a few snaps.
What a magnificent person Terry Fox was. Stephen Fonyo of the same ilk.
This is were Highway 1 officially starts before crossing Canada from coast to coast including a short trip in the ferry from Nanaimo to Tsawwassen. There is a Terry Fox memorial near by where you can pay your respects to this Canadian icon. Nice trails around to walk on the beach and watch the sunsets.

Part of a tour. I went in rainy and cold February. I would go back in the summer to ride in the top of the bus.
Resilencia!!!!
Great area
More importantly, nearby is the Terry Fox Memorial monument commemorating the what would have been the end point of Terry's dream to run across the continent to raise awareness about cancer. Terry died in Thunder Bay after having run from Newfoundland.
Unlike what Tofino claims, this location at Douglas and Dallas has always been THE west coast terminus of the Trans Canada Highway. It's a beautiful spot in its own right, on the edge of the world, high on the cliffs overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca, with plenty of other lovely monuments present, such as the Terry Fox monument right beside Mile Zero.
Nice park, with a view of the horizon, a couple of monuments (other one is for Terry Fox), not much else going on here (also well known is Beacon Hill nearby)
Awesome view

I believed across from here in a tent when I was homeless and stayed for about 8 years!
I was at zero mile in St John's, so had to stop here and take a selfie. Else than that, not a lot going on here. The sponsorships on the monument kinda brings it down a few notches.
Loooong highway starts right here!!
Kinda bland looking monument.
Interesting story but I was expecting more on the place.. ots only a statue. However, a across the street there's a beautiful hidden beach spot!
specially
Love to see the ocean down past the sign. Breathtaking views and fresh ocean air. Always very quiet down there too.
I've seen a lotta miles in my day, this one had it all!

Ok
The Parks board the city and all the workers contractors subcontractors did it spectacular job in making the park more friendly open and usable excellent job

It's the start of the trans canada
The Mile Zero Monument marks the beginning (or the end) of the trans-Canada highway in Victoria, BC. Unfortunately, the monument is fairly unremarkable. The monument is located in a fairly open park and next to Beacon Hill Park where there's a beach and more park space. Sadly, there aren't any information plaques or sorts that talk about the trans-Canadian highway, the history behind it, or anything to that extent. Beware, many tourists come to the monument during peak tourist season. Limited street parking.
Very cool to see the end of the Trans-Canada Trail.

Not a lot to the Mile Zero marker itself. However, this is something you can combine with visits to Beacon Hill Park and Finlayson Point.

It was slightly underwhelming, there was construction everywhere so that probably didn’t help. We have been travelling from the east coast, so it would of been more exciting to hit the other end, with a better monument. Perhaps they could have a donation box to support building something else?
It’s a bit overrated but a decent place nonetheless.
People drink here and watch dogs run fast
Terry Fox ran across Canada to this place and they have a sculpture of him at mile zero.
Like what? I didn't even realize that I was here. My GPS kept yelling "you've reached your destination" and I couldn't see anything. Or so I thought. After a closer look, I see a board saying "MILE 0". I was like, "what??". I drove all the way to see this?! There is nothing special here. Please check google street view once before you decide to visit this place. Once you see the "monument" on google street view, enjoy, and drop your plans of coming here.
(Translated) It's just the beginning and the end of one of the longest continuous streets in the world. When you're there, you can check this place off your personal list. I've been here and found it beautiful and uplifting. But that's just my feeling and my opinion. I was here. Nothing else. I was here. Nothing else.
End of our journey across Canada.
Great views and well detailed monuments
I expected more. But great icecream just a few blocks down for there
The spot to take a photo if you traveled all the way to the West Coast or if you're driving from Victoria to the East Coast. There's also a Terry Fox Monument here and a great view if you take the crosswalk to see the ocean. This is located right in the middle of the road where Douglas forks at Dallas Rd. You should be able to park on the street nearby.
It's a good place to visit, we had a nice walk along the sea wall before arriving here.

Nothing to see
Nice quick stop to see a spot that marked national history
The monument itself I thought was not worth the trip. But the surrounding neighborhood and park are really nice. The nearby coastline / beaches are pretty and offer great views onto Olympia National Park.
It's a very interesting place, especially to know the context of both Steve Fonyo and Terry Fox. Head down to the beach after you've read the plaque #alwaysreadtheplaque
(Translated) This is a good place for retirement and leisure. The scenery is beautiful and the air is good, but there must be ???? and there must be leisure (Original) 這是個養老休閒的好地方。風景美空氣好但是要有????也要有閒
Cool, nice place for a photo.
(Translated) Very special Mexican food, it tastes good, the place is spacious, there is a chance to go back for food (Original) 好特別嘅墨西哥食物????????, 味道好好, 地方都寬敞???? 有機會會再返去食
The homeless have ruined the park
(Translated) Super nice place, with big geese everywhere, especially suitable for taking pictures! The statue of Terry Fox at the back reminds me of Terry Fox Run, which always runs in high school. There is a small seaside plank road right in front, and you can reach the super beautiful seaside along the way! (Original) 超级好看的地方,到处都是大鹅,特别适合拍照!后面Terry Fox的雕像让我想起了高中老是跑的Terry Fox Run。正前面有一个海边小栈道,一路下去就能到达超好看的海边!
OK then

(Translated) There is a statue in the park. He's a marathon runner with one leg in Canada. (Original) 공원에 동상있어요. 캐나다에서 유명한 한쪽 다리를 의수로 하고도 마라톤한 사람이에요.
It's a sign. Get your picture and move on.
(Translated) Next to it is a statue of Terry Fox. It's worth going a little further and going down the stairs to the beach. It's beautiful there. (Original) Obok znajduje się pomnik Terrego Foxa. Warto iść trochę dalej i zejść schodami na plażę. Tam jest pięknie.
kinda cool for what it is, and also a good spot to look across the bay and what not.

Great! right near the coast. Trails are amazing to walk, skate or longboard.

Was a pile rock with plaque ...crazy stupid i just dont see it
Tucked away in the corner of Beacon Hill Park. Amazing place to be, especially when you've been on the other end of it in St John's Newfoundland, Signal Hill. Just a few steps away from the Terry Fox Monument.
Good
Walk down to the shoreline just 2-3 minutes further and walk amongst the boulders for a truly zen experience. Would be a good place for a picnic lunch if weather allows.
Best view in town
Great view
Nice to see the place where Terry Fox started his Marathon. It's a beautiful location.
(Translated) It's great that Victoria thinks the Trans Canada Highway starts here .... St. John thinks the opposite (Original) Det er fantastisk at Victoria mener at Trans Canada Highway starter her....St. John mener det modsatte
Great stop in Beacon Hill park and a very touching tribute to Terry Fox.
Ok
Neat, not much else around here. There's a path down to the water near by
(Translated) To see for fun ???? (Original) A voir pour le fun ????
Neat to say you've been there, but it doesn't even tell you that it is mile 0 of the Transcanada highway. If you just happened on the sign, you'd say "mile 0 of what?"
Great park with lots to see and do.
Love you Terry!!
Beautiful place in Victoria.
It's okay
Beach rave was happening there and it was super awesome
