Here you have the opinions of real people who use the services of Centennial Square (Tourist Attraction) around Esquimalt area (Canada).
To this day the firm has a score of 4 out of 5 and this score has been calculated on 127 reviews.
You must have seen that it reaches an opinions average is really positive, and it's founded on a very large number of feddbacks, so we can conclude that the evaluation is quite credible. If many people have bothered to give their opinion when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to put evaluations when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Tourist Attraction is included in the category of Park.
This plaza SHOULD be the jewel of Victoria's downtown area. Unfortunately, it's mainly just a hangout for people to smoke their weed and cigarettes. What a turnoff for anyone who would just like to sit in the sun and enjoy the flowers, fountain and some FRESH air! My suggestion, make the whole area a smoke free zone. Healthier for people AND for the environment. If you need a smoke or some drugs that much, the scenery is not really first priority, is it? I've noted several tourists rushing by this area, cameras in hand, hesitating whether it's even safe enough to stop long enough to take a trip photo. That is not a positive thing for Victoria and it's tourism trade. Hardly conducive for getting visitors or shoppers in the area to linger. This park, plaza should be a safe, attractive, relaxing area for all residents and tourists. It certainly isn't right now. One more thing, it appears that the security "guards" who are supposedly patrolling the plaza area spend a lot of their time visiting, chatting... and not keeping an eye on what's happening around the whole area. Why bother using taxpayers' money with so little accountability and actual work being done,in return?
Nicest city hall!!
Centennial Square. Something cultural is usually happening in the square. The square it self has numerous other social functions to treat you socially. Take a walk around the area as a lot is happening here.China Town is just across the street.Market Square is on the next block as well as the harbour front. You will need a day to explore the area.
Good place for special events
Good place to vegan inside look of what's going on in victoria
It's a nice place to sit and chill but the washrooms are closed because the junkies overdose in them a lot... so they have portopottys there instead. It's disgusting. And the junkies overdose in them too.
Nice place to take a break in between shopping or appointments. Great free concerts all summer long!
Great show and music. Awesome interaction with the crowd.
I used to get so lit and hang out here Now that I dont get lit it does not seem as lit.
Water fountain and new killer whale statues for kids to play on.
Big squate in the center of the downtown. Decorate beutiful christmas lights on holiday season!
Nice space for a photo opertuniy if they keep it clean
always love this as a focal point or starting point for parades, etc. always something going on during tourist season!
It's nice to see that the tensor all gone and I sure hope they don't get rid of the fountain art has been there for so long
Nice spot in middle of downtown. Cool place to chill and relax.
All ways a nice place to meet new and old friends.
They have some neat events down there
what a beautiful place to hang out
Great place to relax
It's ok but one time I was taking a selfie with a friend, and some punk ran up to us wielding he skateboard as if he was going to hit us with it. He claimed that it was illegal to take his picture without his permission. We weren't hurt but it made us a bit uncomfortable.
This Christmas centennial park has a wonderful light show. Recommended 100% for Instagram photos. Pro photos are a little more difficult as it is quite crowded.
Good lighting during Chirstmas. Loved it.
Lovely
Christmas tree and light display was pretty righteous on Christmas day
It was a great place to congregate.
Always something going in nice fountain
It's all fun and games ????
I don't recommend walking through this Centennial Square at night time as there are lots of homeless people there and unpredictable people drinking and doing illicit drugs in the daytime is not that different as well there is a security guard there but they don't leave their box they never walk around never seen a security guard wants to a grounds check
It's an open area that is in town and it's a convenient location for various reasons and the fact that it doesn't have a drinking water supply is a bit of a problem but overall it's a great place for any thing...
Quite once in the summer when there are food trucks
Great photo op especially when it snows and the lights make the place look incredible. Apart from that not much is happening.
Not a great place to go unless you are looking for an open air drug market. The homelessness and dispair of Victoria is nowhere more apparent than here. I'm almost uncomfortable writing about it. Not a great place if you have kids with you.
I ate a candy bar here. Really nice little square to sit in.
Lovely square the whale art is cool and during summer different events happen fun place ????
Wonderful Vegtoria Festival!
Beautiful square for events, festivals and general goings on in downtown Victoria!
What a terrific waste of money and space! Oooooh. Aaaaah. Homeless people are the only people who want to hang out here. At least some demographic is getting good use out of it
Centennial Square has a lot of wonderful displays during the holiday. There has always been an issue with homeless, drugs in the area but lately the city of Victoria has done a great job cleaning it up and maintaining the area.
A beautiful space with traditional building. Usually has some sort of events on the weekends. Always interesting to visit this place.
The water fountain is really nice at night when the lights are shining on it was impressed
Didn't go there either
loved the music, ambience and what not !!
sadly drug users have overrun this park. sad to see the government letting this happen send some police here and stop this chaos! -Walter
Nice water fountain
It's ... ah... a city square. Mostly concrete. A fountain. Patch of grass with a tree. What else do you wanna know?
cool spot for downtown shopping
Nicely presented with a beautiful central fountain piece, has excellent access from multiple locations making a walk through convenient and easy!???? Have been recently accused of having a rise in safety concerns mostly due to an …
over run by aggressive homeless/addicted users night & day, was a cool place to hangout & regroup with friends.
Great Christmas display
Lots of free events ! Great music great people
Lovely place, but filled with junkies
Christmas lights were beautiful and the live music was the perfect addition. More vendors would make it perfect.
Great place for anyone to hangout.
Would have been nice at one time, but quite dated now, and frequented by people with too much free time now.
I originally came into Centennial Square as a way through to another location. However, there is a clean public bathroom which I want to note has a #sharpsdisposal bin and a #changingtable , as well as a lovely open area to run around including the "Follow the Pod" sculpture, which provides a lovely photo op. #letsguide
Mexican food celebrations were off the hook . Bands . Food . Atmosphere second to none . Even a beer garden .
There always something going on here. Please it out every weekend. You won't be disappointed.
A sweet little city square. Lots going on.
Nice Green space downtown.
Lame full of skids, junkies potheads and the odd weirdo. It's embarrassing that it's right on city hall.
AWESOME lights. Beautiful
It's a bit hit and miss...at times the smokers and profanity are too much
Auto flushing toilets yay.. LOL
Mexican festival beautiful friendly energetic atmosphere.
Great spot to enjoy community events.
A walk, a coffee and a visit to centennial square. This main part of downtown Victoria is a beautiful place to hang out for a bit and enjoy the sounds ,the beauty and the goose that often is seen there resting.
Fun for events but otherwise not a relaxing place to visit
Attended & sang the Grandmother's for Africa in from their fund-raising bike ride. Great space!
All lit up for Christmas and it looks wonderful
Check out the Eventide Music Series on Thursday evenings throughout the summer
The Christmas light show was amazing.. also live music!
It's my favourite outdoor dancefloor! From the India Mela, to Jazzfest, to the International Overdose Awareness Day and many more opportunities I've had to dance there!
A small park but full of lights during Christmas and new years. A colorful park with a band!
A lot of homeless people staying here. Not very kid friendly
It was beautiful around Christmas they had it all don't up with lights and trees it was a beautiful sight.
Enjoyed the Christmas lights.
It's a public square used for festivities. Only problem is lack of washrooms
Nice little public venue, close to parking and a good spot to stop for a break when you're stuck in the chaos of downtown. no washroom facilities however.
A great place to hang out and chill, bathrooms are close by, quiet area and even events happen quite often. We'll maintained and security patrolled so you feel safe
Great Christmas light display!
Dangerous and do not go here at night.
Nice scenery with. Fountain
Enjoyed our burning man celebration!
Nice fountain but the bathroom security needs to lay off sometimes it takes more than 5 min in the bathroom
Nice tree and orca art, good for sitting saw a goose, but half naked woman decided to pee near us on the lawn, and lots of people smoking all around and skateboarding, public washroom was surprisingly well kept and actually really nice 4.5 star bathroom
If you don't have to go there don't.
Nice view.and place
In general, it has been a challenge to keep this area safe but the city is at least trying harder lately for certain outdoor events. If you're in the area during December evenings, the place is a marvel with wonderful light displays and music bringing the holiday cheer.
Jazz fest was happening with live music almost every day. It was great.
It's CRN TEN
always enjoy events here
Not bad smoed some dope had a beer with fraser
Great place to visit your homeless friends or see the shady part of downtown Victoria. If you hang out long enough you may witness a fight, a straight out assault or maybe even a stabbing. All in all a great place to take in the wonderful aroma of urine and street feet. Welcome to Victoria and have a wonderful stay. I would avoid it in the evening.
Bathroom 24hours a day.. can't beat that.
Lots of friendly people and 24hr security guards show much concern and are very helpful
To many drunks drug addicts
Good question , not sure !
It's meant to be a hub of sorts but it's really not more than a small square with to many steps and a resting place for exhausted drifters. Right outside the towns meeting rooms and mayors office. It seems a rather sad reminder of the separation between the people and those in office. I'd say this needs a rethink. Could easily be updated into a real draw (keep those trees as they got the stars!!) perhaps integrated into a permanently used outdoor day theatre.
It's more of a centennial rectangle
I love this place. I really like the MCM lookl of the fountain in the middle. Decent stage with a variety of free events happening.
Still a nice spot downtown. But a bit dated.
Beautiful Christmas lights
Great Lights of Wonder!
Great place to go hang out .
Nice place to sit and relax. Easy access to downtown
The Festival of Lights is well worth a visit.
Pop in every now and then for some jams or cultural experiences!
Good place to relax with live music occasionally (summer months mainly). Not too many homeless/street people about, but those that are there never seem to bother me.
Good parking. Some good events.
It's a great square for events and things when there aren't people shooting up and sleeping on the stage area. That said I've never felt unsafe there. Just keep your eyes open at night. The people there are just making the best of it and mostly keep to themselves. It truly highlights our need for more social housing.
Beautiful sunset and golden hour photo spot
Love the #FollowThePod Kids Park
Was just walking through and a band was set up and playing, so naturally I wondered over to have a listen. They were really good, covered a lot of good songs plus had some great originals. I didn't catch their name unfortunately. It was a nice little 45 mins detour from my day.
Great for going on a break at work n sitting and enjoying brunch
Lots of events and activities here in the summer
Nice spot in the middle of downtown, good for relaxing, or taking a break in the middle of all the chaos.
Lovely square near by China town
Always cool events there
Lots of homeless
Great stuff but too expensive for an organization that gets all there stuff free!
Nice, family place with good energy.
The public restrooms here have been closed for a year and now there's only portapotties. Other than that it's a great place to go to see the latest protest or catch a free live band!
Seems like a nice place, there's cushioning around the orcas so kids don't hurt themselves, but I also did see a drug trade so I mean take it or leave it I guess. Didn't see active using. There was some kind of live music happening at the time which was nice.
all the homeless and whatever goes with that tent city type situation. If your comfortable and not intimidated then its all good. If your uptight and judgemental and feel your better than the average person then just stay away from that area all together. Come back after these people can be moved into decent, liveable, affordable, housing. If you have had an easier go at life and are a little or a whole lot more fortunate than these folks, maybe you would like to donate? From a can of peas to a house for rent or own and anything in between would probably be greatly appreciated im sure! Please call the Cool- Aid Society or Our Place, listed in your local Victoria directory. Not just those but there are so many different needs in our own City that you might like to donate to something you hold a little closer to your heart. Or you may have enough for more than just one. Whichever it may be ....A Big Thanks in advance!!!
A local landmark popular for events in the spring and summer. The square is enclosed by the Victoria City hall, McPherson Theatre, local shopping, and a convenient parking garage. The fountain is an artistic icon of the city and the park provides important greenspace for this side of the city.
Beautiful fountain. My daughter loved walking through here while we visited Victoria. They even hold shows and festivals in the area sometimes.
Great place for outdoor music..Love the big Sequoia tree and it's a good spot to relax after work
Loved the lights here during Christmas time. Was a great new years here!
It was very relaxing as we read a book by the Monolith. Good times in the heart of Victoria.
Its a water fountain....what's there to review? The quality of the pennies people toss in...or the amount of hippies sitting on the grass???? Or the lack of water in their cool aquaduct thing.
Its clean an beautiful
Cen ten is what we call it .it's got a music stage and can be a great place to perform live.
In typical City of Victoria fashion the city imposed limitations make this a difficult place to hold an event....On the upside its a wide open space which allows walk by participation should you be able to navigate the remainder of it .
Very nice ????????
Community events always...
Great place to smoke weed
Great venue space.
Nothing special.
For the City of Victoria, that gathering place is Centennial Square, located next to Victoria's heritage City Hall at Douglas Street and Pandora Avenue, in the north end of downtown. The square features a fountain, benches and curved steps, surrounded with trees and planters.Could be great but don't like the normal people who loiter here
All summer there is entertainment and public events.
So lit during the holidays
Beside City Hall, it is a venue for summer events. Not always very clean, it isn't the nicest place in town.
It's nice to chill here Peace
Must visit during the "Lights of Wonder" exhibit. Mesmerizing display of lights at the fountain and good music to complement the ambience.
Saw a free metal concert here
Centennial Square features a wondefrul fountain with two constructions ressembling totem poles. There is also a small playground for children. It's a nice spot for taking pictures. However, this is also a place where homeless people and junkies tend to hang around.
A good place to go to events and also to protest for some cause????????????????
Was great down there today..420
Big venue, well administered, good parking.
Well done Victoria BC It was so delightful to see
It's a little rundown, I think more could be done with this space, and the tables and chairs need to be cleaned.
It's okay.....a bit trashy some some days
A great location for jazzfest!
We had our first kiss here.
Good place in summer for festivals, food trucks, etc. Can get a bit sketchy at night. Bathroom renovations are finally done, but only one stall in men's bathroom now as opposed to the two they used to have? Weird to make a growing cities public bathroom smaller.
Great place to relax
It could be better, so much potential for a congregating, public space that's dynamic and innovative - it could be a draw in a very walk-able small city downtown core.
Lovley lights
Great! Local events and culture. Also a great ''meetup''/rendezvous point.
Always a pleasure to be at so easy to access
Not the cleanest or most beautiful party of Victoria but it is a wonderful downtown courtyard. Interesting sculptures and lots of people. If sit and eat my lunch here if I worked nearby.
A great spot to meet.
I come here every day, always something going on! Like today, people are setting up for the Francophone Festival!
Old school place 4 me 50 years i b 58
Nice place to sit but the homeless folks had the benches and an anti-vax rally was in progress....
Right now there is a ferria wheel pretty cool
To many drug addicts hanging around
Big area to host events - but it is a popular hang out for drug addicts.
This was the Plaza Hotel that didn't survive a huge blaze earlier month.
Good public space. Utilized nicely but needs more support
Perfect place sit on the sun chat with friend
Beautiful public space that supports events, rest, and play.
Great pool, workout area, skating and library. A community center.
Nice but don't like the crowd that hangs out and drinks nd makes a mess
We go there for music events. Not much else going on there.
Such a beautiful site. Everyone was so happy. And we got big surprixe with a young ukeleli choir from Langley, singing and playing awesome Christmas songs. Fabulous feelings!
Nice square to grab a coffee and hangout.
Like the seanery lolz
Very peaceful and the perfect meeting spot for friensa or dates
Cute shops that are unseen from the street and excellent food choices
An interesting spot to see while on your trip to Victoria; during the summer lots of fun events, concerts and activities for all ages are held here. It's also an easy pass through from Chinatown/Government St to Douglas St, with a convenient transit stop for most of the major routes in front of City Hall. The fountain, while a little dated, is still beautiful and architecturally interesting. Kids and adults alike will be mesmerised by the life-sized Orca/Killer whale statues that appear to be rising out of the pavement in front. Stay clear in the early morning and later hours, though, as some not-so-friendly people gather to do drugs, etc. The city should provide more Security to clear these people out and make it safe for locals and tourists to enjoy all hours of the day, as the fountain is really beautifully lit at night!
Beautiful fountain and area
You never know what you will find.
Making memories is always great!
10/10 would peace rally again
Nice place to chill
Great little square with good shopping and food near by. Very colourful at night and during the holidays. Many communities will use the square for events, good place to check out in Victoria.
Inspite the homeless that are there they keep to themselves it's in the heart of downtown easy access points to China Town, shops on Pandora Ave and bus stops in front on douglas st. It really is a neat square it has a really cool fountain …
So cool
This is downtown location of Victoria townhall office to pay property taxes or related bills or at reception enquire about bylaws. Apparently transit bus pass can be purchased here. A note that clean toilet is open to public just passed reception. Centennial Square looks deserted at the moment that's becuz it's still winter. Generally active comes summer with exciting events. Small groups of people hanging around basically the homeless some with shopping carts holding their worldly possesions. The public toilet below car parkage is filthy & some needles were seen. This is 1 toilet difficult to control.
Brilliant
Heaps of squares lol but no square readers lol
Worst 420 event ever. Never again
A welcoming place for those who do not want to live in cheaper smaller towns or in the outskirts of Victoria, where affordable housing is not as scarce. People from all over the country and the world can camp here right in the centre of the City for free. Meals and needles are also delivered, all for free. You then have your full welfare cheque to spend on important things like drugs and cigarettes. The adjacent parkade can be used as a toilet area, or you can subsidize your income by stealing stuff from the cars parked there. Walk a little further away and camp for free in beautiful Beacon Hill Park and you will have free staff to clean up after you and deliver your meals, needles and naloxone kits. The adjacent parking garage would be better suited to camping, especially when it rains and the park soil gets contaminated with toxins and used needles, but the weather in Victoria is great for camping most of the year. And if you stay long enough you will you will be given a free hotel room. Mayor Lisa Helps welcomes everyone to live for free in Victoria, and live free without a need to follow any pesky rules. She has no concern for costs, city beauty, citizen safety or long term solutions.
This at night 9:30pm During the summer on Wed Nd Sat Sun there is always some type of music festivities on.
Went by to see the lights that were put up for Christmas, and was somewhat underwhelmed. While there are some gorgeous displays, I think the display could have been choreographed much better. There was no flow to these decorations. Next year they should higher an artist to plan it for them.
Lots to look at..washrooms for the most part as clean !!
My home town. I love it here in Victoria ❤️????????❤️
Nice open space for events, relatively clean, but the portapotties in the square make it a lot less inviting.
Good as usual with people that I love
Nice place beautiful setting. Too many drug addicts
Good for outdoor events usually has Ferris wheel and vendors around Christmas
Great music spot today.
Beautiful fountain and inviting community
Really loved and appreciated the wonder of lights here.
Christmas lights were amazing
Greatfull for the 24hr bathroom with security.
Good meeting spot, often animated by festivals and good amount of sitting space
Wonderful place to see some homeless people having a good time.
Special events happen in the square. Sometimes very crowded and at other times not so much. Has public washrooms.
Nicely lit up for the holidays! 4pm - 9pm
There was a bike to work week celebration station at City Hall and this park is nearby. There is an interesting fountain here. There is also a small amphitheatre and steps to sit on when someone plays music or has a dance demonstration here.
It's a great event and gathering place. It would be better if Sunday steet parking went back to "free" though. It would encourage more out of towners to come downtown and longer stays to shop and dine, supporting local businesses.
Christmas Lights were magical but there were 3 commercial booths marring our view of the central water area. The lights are secure and well constructed. It was drawing a good cross section of ages and everyone seemed to be enjoying their evening. Weather cooperated.
Most time is a sweet lil square and miss the entertainment that used to go on but its a nice spot
Fencing around the area's where the campers were , it's an eyesore looking.
Looks wonderfull and the best the kids enjoyed the lights..thanks for the good work.
It's officially the new block
The Lights of Wonder at the Square are magical! See it before its gone.
Good place to hang in the summer
During the summer there is almost always some music at noon. Better music, food trucks, and beer on the weekend. Don't mind the regulars.
Good service . Great location lots of parking.
Nice spot to sit in sun and sip a coffee, bus stop nearby
It used to be my highlight of town, now it's just a homless waste refuge with meth junkies and teen runaway scat that has no purpose or drive and darkens our society. Its sickening, whatever you do don't bring small children they will get taken by the ministry, or assulted by one of the crazed inhabitants. Its pitiful.
I have fond memories of a week long celebrations, music, food and meeting old friends and making new ones looking forward to the Seasonal Lights. Hot cocoa and marshmallows. Happy Christmas to you and your family and friends.
Nice and central downtown. Good place to rest and lots of pop up music and cultural activities.
Nice park, very quiet when I was there.
Can be fun in the summer for entertainment
Harder part of town but lots of a. Nice businesses
Nice place to just cool and people watch
Good Mela Good food .also nice programme Bollywood .
It's a square. Nothing really exciting here. Lots of homeless people hiding away. A very cute dog statue with an area for dogs to drink. Otherwise clean and decent spot to sit outside.
Great when security is around to keep you safe :/ Ohhhhh Lisa..
Its ok.
Extension of Victoria's very skid row
Went to watch my friend preform here at a French Canadian cultural event thing. She did amazing 5 stars. The square however is just so so. I wouldn't say it's the cleanest. Or offers the best stage. Or has enough places to sit. But it probably depends on the event and the organizers. I wouldn't say it's a place to visit unless there is an event or something going on there.
Great when there are organized events, slightly scary when nothing is going on.
Nice place to have a morning coffee. Can have a high concentration of homeless at times.
Always fun FREE advents, jazz and more
The Christmas displays is A+
Full of junkies, great place to get stabbed, complete embarrassment to Victoria
It's relaxing while still being in the heart of the city
There for the women's march. Very hard to hear or see speakers.
An open area, where different events are organised and conducted. The weekly music and dance sessions are good.
Just visited the Lights of Wonder...what a disappointment! Hardly any lights at all, very basic displays and looks amateur. To top it off, a large group of street people camped out under the giant Christmas tree, smoking dope and …
Lovely place to hang out and sip a coffee
Folktoria today and Sunday.
Nice place to relax and have fun and entertainment during the summer weekends
Loved the Festival of Lights
Great place to sit and watch people also hosts concerts throughout the year.
Awesome
Smells like piss on a good day. Lots of great music, dont use the bathrooms
Comfortable surroundings. Non-threatening environment. Clean and invigorating.
During the summer there is always a festival or concert of some kind happening every weekend
It was a sad day
Beautiful little place
Beautiful day .????❤???????????? October 30 .
Have had some great times with great friends here
Such a wonderful sight
Looks nice, however not at all recommended because it's now known as a gathering place for drunks and drug users. I would skip this one.
It has a fountain. They removed the statue though.
Light show was great good job !!
A beautiful public space surrounded by historical government buildings. It's a host to many live outdoor musical events and gatherings of all sorts.
It's jazz fest week, amazing, incredible weather, what more could you want !!!
Beautiful place. Crowded by homeless. Security in the bathroom and heavy security presence. Still a great experience
Walked through the beautiful magical centennial square
Beautiful and nice meeting new people or just relax spot, most of the time lol
Great place for a photo opportunity! Cool and inviting on a hot afternoon!
Great place downtown to meet up!
great place to wash your face after getting pepper sprayed
Great place to see some public drinking during the day. Smells of urine. Watch out for syringes in the lawn.
Beautiful and lately its been well cared for by the city The colorful water fountain has been repaired to its beauty once again We bring our coffee and a sandwich often to sit there in the square …
Drunks and needles.. no thanks.
I like Centennial Square but, be aware it is frequented by Victoria Street folk. It can be a little unpredictable and rowdy at times.
Great outdoor space. Wonderful place for activities. Too many iffy people around.
Only public bathroom that's available almost always
Nice feeling being around fellow Victorians celebrating the Christmas season. Missing.....food venders!!!
Was amazing
This place has become a central community venue for daytime festivals, live music and performances. We love coming here as a family.
Nineteenfifties charm
Considering homeless issues (tents,) it was very quiet and clean.
Bad the need to clear out the fiends
Pleasant place to relax
Lovely, but badly outdated decor, lot of street people. Still, great venue for outdoor concerts, events
Can be nice for events however there are lots of people who just loiter here.
A well known spot for cultural and fun events in Victoria, in front of the municipal office. Lots of events take place here in summer. A good place to meet for events.
A very nice park .
Was a clean place to grab a seat for a minute to give feet a rest while touring the city.
Very romantic, but if you don't want to talk about kids don't go there.
I saw this as a recommendation for places to go with small children. As of one month ago this was a homeless encampment that featured several stabbings, missing youths and was the location of a drug ring operating out of tents. There was also a police bust where 16 people were arrested. So...bring your kids? Also - a city counsellor voted to keep the homeless encampment here so other counsellors would have to see and experience the results of allowing daytime camping. The other counsellors wanted to vote to remove the encampment - because Centennial Square is at City Hall and it likely made them unsafe at work.
needs to be cleaned more from what I see
