I was researching death records for a geneaology project I am working on and found the staff to be very helpful and professional. They patiently responded to my specific data queries and my general questions about leveraging their services more efficiently and even explained how I could access the reading room with my 9 year old granddaughter in tow. This was my first visit, but I know it won't be my last.

I visited for the first time to look at microfilm of old Edmonton Journal newspapers from the 1970s. Cool building and very kind and helpful people that work there. Very valuable resource to have in Edmonton, I look forward to visiting again!

We were doing some genealogy research while on a trip to Edmonton. The Archives were excellent and the staff were massively helpful. I know people try to get away with online only but some times you need to go to the source. Holding a (original) piece of paper signed by your Great Great Grandfather is an experience all by itself.

????????❤️❤️ The Provincial Archives of Alberta have the only newsprint conservator in the entire province. They're a great resource if you need to preserve documents or images. Also, a great local research resource.

Extremely knowledgeable staff help all visitors to feel welcome and secure while helping them search the extensive variety of records for information. Whether a researcher, historian, genealogist, or curious visitor, you are welcome to come and search the archives. Before you go, check out the gift shop: it's the only one in Alberta selling premium archival storage products and solutions to the public! :) The Provincial Archives of Alberta is a great place to learn about Alberta's heritage, culture and special place in Canada! :)

A great source of information. While the archives may seem intimidating, the friendly,, knowledgeable archivists are always delighted to help. Hard copies, microfilm, photographs, you name it. It's all pretty much free. There are small fees for copies and any research they do on your behalf but doing the actual work yourself can be fun and informative.

I had the opportunity to ask Shannon questions while she was at the desk. It was so great to have someone so knowledgeable who was able to provide me with what I needed and to know so much. Shannon also took us on our tour of the facility. It's amazing how much she retains and to provide so much valuable information and the best customer service. I have visited the Archives a few more times and each and every time I ask a question about something Shannon goes out of her way to explain this to me. Our City is so fortunate to have someone so dedicated to providing high quality customer service. Thank you for always listening and helping.

Was there to do some contract work. However with that I was able to see the back area...it's a clean as the public area. Very nice professional staff there too....and the washrooms are Immaculate. Free public and handicap parking with a drive up so you can drop off those who would find it hard to walk.

Darren Pedersen

I'm from Grande Prairie and have never been to this facility. However I'm told that this might be where I can find old archives of CFRN TV back in the early days....is there any CFRN history located here at all? Just curious for when I come to Edmonton next time :)
