REVIEWS OF Grand Villa Casino IN Edmonton

Brand new, visited on the second day of operation. One thing I'll say is with everything being new, it's really nice. New tables, chairs, casino chips. With new however, comes new table dealers, supervisors and waitresses. Had many shift changes while at the blackjack table (6 changes in 40 minutes). Lots of mistakes in the gameplay and pretty slow. Ate at Match eatery, took about 20 after being seated before we had to ask for a waitress. Wings came drastically overcooked. Ate one, had to send it back. They forgot one of our items. Overall, the food wasn't very good. We'll have to give them the benefit of working the kinks out and hopefully on my next trip they've worked it all out.

We went to Atlas for half price seafood on Thursday. Yummy. Good service.

Rachel Cannady

A fantastic building! Great design, beautiful inside and out. It's a little small, but the venue is gorgeous. Perfect location for a casino.

Cesar Nieves

Fantastic casino. The grand architecture of the building, elegant inside and out. The dealers at table games are professionals. Staff are amiable and is very convenient to all: wheelchair available, phone for places to the suitable parking.

Pilipinas TV (PTV)

They have a good diner at the second floor. Place is not too crowded, a good place to hang out if you just want to pop up some beer with friends. And best place to gamble when downtown.

Kyle Miller

Fun downtown location. A little hidden away if you don't know what you're looking for, but once you're there, its easy to lose track of time. There was some card tables as well as craps and roulette, but they're not always up an operating. Mostly slot machines and a sports bar setup, as you'd expect from a casino attached to Edmonton's professional hockey arena.

James Eustis

Smaller casino located in the ice district. Busy after hockey games with the post game crowd, but still easy enough to get through. Setup with live music in the bar area, decor is modern and for the most part quite nice.

Sean Lamb

Great Casino, great people, even greater staff. Highly recommend this place to others. Would go back in a second! Love the slot machines and also roulette!

Dwayne Dibbly

Fun times b4 hockey game..go oilers

Lee Martel

After speaking with one of the managers by the name of Mike I totally changed my attitude towards the casino they are doing a fantastic job they may have some people in wrong positions that they don't belong and they are working on that I actually do recommend going there I do recommend staying away from one of the senior security managers female long blond hair with a great big chip on her shoulder the gentleman downstairs should be head of security he was awesome

Justin Plosz

Actually really like this place even though they don't have a poker room which is why I generally go to a casino. The setup in the layout or nice and the place is always clean. If you're going to annoy Oilers game you pretty much have to stop here on your way out amd the high-limit room is upstairs.

douglas adams

Good food .try out the steak also loads of fun playing the slots. Play responsibly

TJ Maxx Krupnik

Great place to go have some fun on a friday or saturday night.

Keith Fernandes

Happy hour specials every day. Try their fried chicken sandwich... They claim its a slider, but it's at least as big as the chicken sandwich you'd get at any fast food restaurant - much tastier too! Burgers not too shabby either. There's always something special, so worth checking in frequently.

Semir Gaši

I hate this place. I can only share bad memories with this casino. 10 times with aproximately 500$ and a few with 1k leaving as a looser. Stay away. You have better options if you like gambling.

Brad Lavertu

Had a blast after the Oilers game. Staff was great to deal with and interact with. Drinks were less expensive than in Roger's Place, but still pricey. Huge open room where the tables were. Great selection of slots.

Kelsey Semler

Nice location, gorgeous casino. Not many tables are open although when I had went, and left disappointed when the staff accused me off taking someones money off the table yet it was my money that got take from the table. Eventually after a feud the lad who took my money returned it and apologized. Staff on the other hand did not. Would consider going back as it is probably the nicest casino out here.

Koreena Deleurme

Very interesting place great place to explore and have fun. Awsome food and great sitting areas

Micheal Jones

Nice open design, plenty of food options.

Stuart Kehrig

Looks great but staff service and food in the restaurant was/is a work in progress.

Cubbie Buchner

Live this casino. Win, Lose or Break Even. Staff is awesome as always, I don't go to the bar so not sure if that's improved or not, normally staff and bar management were the only downfalls, hopefully that's improved.

R Ramjohn

New casino is okay. Lots of space to walk and enjoy the games.

Sara Powell

Best place in the city!! Amazing food selections, Atlas is wonderful for a night out to get dressed up and share a bottle of wine and been to Match a few times before hockey games. The staff are always friendly and I very much enjoy my time when I come here!

Jazz SkorzacG

We went here Monday evening. The bartender was awesome!!! She was awesome service all night she gets 10 stars. The slots are really really tight. Not a single payout all night. The tables were fun. The roulette table was the most fun. The dealers are friendly.

Vovan G

Nice place to visit. Has a fantastic restaurant there

John Holland

Always fun if you like Casinos. Much better than the old Baccarat. Staff are very friendly and is very accessible to all. Wheel chair accessible, phone for directions to the accessible parking.

K. M.

The Casino staff in General are very nice that does not include the bar staff, I think I've had one good guy that served me, I've walked away from the bar numerous times after not even being acknowledged while staff and/or management are "busy" talking about last nights shenanigans. The bar def. needs a better management team. Other than that I love the casino itself, the casino is full of vibrant energy.

H.D R

AMAZING GUEST SERVICE PEOPLE IN THE CASINO!!! LOVE THE PLACE WHEN ITS PACKED BECAUSE ITS SO LIVE AND GOOD TIMES WITH GOOD PEOPLE AND GREAT GAMES AND AMAZING FOOD FROM ATLAS AND MATCH!!! but also its really chill and queit during the day and great for gamblers that like peace and quiet

shannon cardinal

Very nice place. The dealers at table games are top notch professionals. Good restaurants too.

jhen_iya

How a small establishment makes a tiny little ripple effect on climate change that may help the ginormous wave from destroying coastal communities by rising ocean levels in the future, by being receptive to my concerns about their use of styrofoam cups by switching to paper. These are the things that make a difference an act of caring for the environmental issues that will affect us all. Very professional and vanguard of them. Exceptionally impressive professional service a tiny casino with big hearts. Kudos guys! Shine on! You rock!

Dan Cielos

Really great service, many games to play/gamble! Just a reminder, it's fun to gamble and all but don't get addicted!

kenzie forget

Beautiful room, friendly staff, and the games are really fun. There are 2 great restaurants, a sports pub and a fine dining restaurant called Atlas Steak + Fish that even serves an amazing lunch from Monday to Friday.

Mathieu Fortin

Nice and cozy atmosphere, what you would expect from a casino... However, drinks were a bit on the pricy side and the place had no poker tables at all. Blackjack and slot machines seemed to be the only option aside from one roulette table and one closed craps, be advised.

Frank Chou

This review is for the family friendly food court that casino offers, which is a waste of space. …

Moe Sobh

Perfect location for a casino and it feels like you’re in Vegas when you walk in! It’s a little small but the venue is beautiful. The staff is very friendly and the service is great, especially when I’m on the roulette or blackjack tables.

Alicia Oliver

It's ok when it's open..to which it isn't known when..luck of the draw... Dont know why..but also it was nice to see some of the staff who worked at the Baccarat Casino there..they have and were always nice to me and hope that they're doing well..

tiffy hopper

One of my favorite casinos in edmonton. A fair amount of table games, great bar and service. Had a good time here would go again.

Dallas Adekat

A very nice addition to the center of Edmonton. It has nicely encouraged our downtown district into being a sophisticated place to be seen. Love it

Danica Olson

LOVE LOVE LOVE this casino! They always have the best events and its always lively and fun. I would highly recommend Match Pub for Elite Fridays, or the Comedy nights they have. And do not miss out on Atlas' seafood Thursday's! …

I attended this place as a volunteer for charity. I came with a friend and was very please with the service received in the match restaurant. However, the New York steak we ordered was a combination of poor execution on cooking and just a really bad cut of meat. The steak was grainy, dry, tasteless and had stringy bits throughout. This was the second attempt at ordering a nice steak dinner but was equally as disappointing at the first time at the newly opened WEM location. The service was great however, and I felt compelled to tip regardless, it would have been nice to know that the charity gives server's an automatic gratuity of 18%. I still would have tipped her because she was a great server. At the bar however, was a completely different experience! The volunteers were told to order there, after the match restaurant closed. The two bartender's ignored us and kept saying one sec...this went on for about 15, while they served everyone else at the bar. We weren't offered even a menu to look at while waiting. Upon receiving the menu, our group of 4 eventually order only after looking at the menu for a couple of minutes. Never have I experienced such a blatant behavior to being ignored. I could sense that the two attending bar tenders found it amusing, because they would look at each other and laugh after each passing by they made in front of us. Management needs to step up and be accountable for behavior like this. It's shameful! As side from food, I can't really see how this casino is still standing. It's surrounded by drunk vagrants stumbling along bagging for money and in the facility a complete lack of security...my companion and I were stalked in the building. While riding the escalator, to the second level, some guy comes running up the escalator and ends up so close behind me, I could almost feel him touching me. So I moved in front of my friend to give him way, to pass us if he was in such a hurry. He just stood there, uncomfortably. I could feel my skin crawl at this point and just looked at my friend to be on alert. I looked at the guy and he wouldn't make eye contact. Once we reached the top, he motioned to go back down the stairs but just stood at the top of the stairs looking down. Enter from the front, if you get the chance, the back entrance is so creepy due to a lack of security. I can totally see why this place is a ghost town!

Glenda James

I do enjoy the the spinning wheels and the Jurassic theme slot.

KcatZ Rose

Expensive and not overly pleased with my experiences there.... The staff and services are ok.... Not sure on how I feel overall...... Not my first choice as far as casinos go..... It's nice set up but minimal payouts

Rachel Castelletti

They have a lot of specials for food and drinks. I intend to come back and check out some more. Cheap drinks and rather tasty food! Would have liked if their menu was clear about what food was gluten free, but the server was really helpful …

John Armstrong

Good place for a bite before the game.... Go OIL!

Ferdinand Aguillon

playing slot machine friendly staff …

Shawn Briscoe

Just doesn’t feel like a casino, staff seems to just go through the motions. The 2 food places are never open in the evening leaving you with only the choice of the over priced food in the casino. Just wanted to clarify about the 2 …

Kelly Dillon

Amazing place to go hang out with your friends for drinks and some gambling! The lounge in the casino has some great drink specials as well

Matt Ayres

Great space. A little small for the traffic after games but a lot of fun. Could use a bigger washroom on the main floor

Tyler Metcalfe

I enjoyed the place. Decent looking, (half) decent payouts, decent bar, reasonable staff. However I couldn't even get a cup of coffee because of all the bums stinking up the cart area and practically begging me for money or a payout ticket (they're also VERY bad outside of the place). On top of that there was this Jeff guy from security; total a-hole. He was condescending, arrogant, and rude. He came up to me and gave me crap for switching slot machines too many times. What the heck is with that?! I've never in my life been in a casino where anyone came up to me and said something about me changing machines. On top of that he talked to me like I was stupid when I said that I've never had a problem anywhere else with that, and his other security guy said something about it and he snapped at him and basically said he didn't know how to do his job because he didn't realize what we were doing was wrong. This guy being in the same building as me alone was enough to make me leave. I will never return to this casino again. I come here to enjoy myself. I mind my own business, I never make a problem, and I enjoy being able to gamble in peace. However, because of this guy I feel like I can't do that. He should be reviewed by your union. He is absolutely - terrible. I've placed over ten thousand dollars in bets at this casino and regret every penny of it now. I regret doing business at a place where the staff are so unbearably rude and disrespectful.

Luke Rinderknecht

Currently waiting 50 minutes for a hand pay (and counting). Missed the New Year's countdown with our friends because no one has come to our machine. Happy to win some money but this is ridiculous...

Karan Pahwa

Nice ambiance, good casino. Newly built up,nice and worm ambiance.Bar prices are the same as compared to other restaurants n casinos. No smoking area inside which causes trouble to smokers as it is cold outside most of the time.Good place to play, bets start as low as 5$ and inside bets on roulette from 1$.

Gorgeous design and a number of fantastic staff, Granvilla is a superb addition to Edmonton's vibrant core! The casino is a hotspot for pre-game hockey fans and concert attendees, and has seen some crazy nights after the evening's event (especially when the Oilers win during the playoffs, it's bananas). There are two full-service restaurants and two fast food style storefront counters inside the casino proper, not to mention the main floor 360° white marble bar. Match Eatery occupies the main floor and caters to the sports bar crowd, as well as families (yes, that includes children) during or prior to certain events. The second floor is dominated by the sizeable Atlas Steak & Fish which features an à la carte style menu, seafood towers, smoked prime rib (8oz or 12oz, event nights and Sundays) and the captivating centrepiece of the room, the Josper grill/oven. This truly is what brings people in, in my opinion. No gas or electricity whatsoever, the Josper runs exclusively on mesquite charcoal and a controlled oxygen supply at a wicked 600° to 800°F. It's a waist-high and wide oven with two grills that are pulled out/pushed in (to allow full access to its entire cooking surface) while a chimney flue determines the oxygen VS smoke allowed inside the cooking chamber. It's so hot and smoky that it requires a special hood vent system that costed nearly half a million dollars to purchase and install, about twenty times the cost of the actual Josper itself (source: I ran that oven for about two years in that very location, good times). Go eat there, and try the Tomahawk steak, a 3lb monster ribeye for sharing and of course subsequent bragging.

Absolutely love the atmosphere at Grand Villa - Awesome free parking, Great food, well priced drinks and awesome staff! 5/5 would definitely recommend a night at Grand Villa to anyone I know!

Robert Bertschi

Tiny casino with ZERO customer service. Security/Bouncer staff walks around like a gang kicking people out left and right. If you don't know the bar staff good luck getting a drink. Rough grid. Better off taking your time and going to River Cree.

Chelsey Ming

Nice casino, but no free parking, which makes it super inconvenient. Used to go there, but too expensive to park in that area. Teddys has lots of vlts as well and free parking. My place to go now.

Pete2all K

Great place modern games clean friendly get a club card and swipe. Great draft happy hour is 3.50 huggable drinks

Jeff D

What kind of casino doesn't have a poker room??? Unbelievable that there is no poker. No words for it. Makes the casino feel like a bar with video slots instead of a legitimate casino. Not sure you can even call yourself a casino without a poker room. Very unfortunate marketing that would allow a brand new casino to look so bad as to not have a poker room.

Brayden Heath (Blazer420!!)

Good job

Julie Degen

Simply marvelous. Had a marvelous time. Won't it be the world if we can go again.

Doug Bonner

It's a casino. People gamble there. Really busy on event nights. Good prices during happy hour. Check out Match pub and try the chicken tacos. So good.

Lawrence Hughes

Andrew who was our waiter was excellent and very attentive and did not ask you how the food was when your mouth was full he was there with water when needed and very informed with the menu. An excellent representative for this establishment!!

Lily

I went into the casino for the Rod Stewart concert. I did have some time and I wanted to check out the casino. I went to the dining area which was over packed and the young hostess looked overwhelmed as she was the only one greeting guest. …

Charlene Fowler

Worked at the Casino in the cash room counting BIG MULLA.... Wow ! Nice time and AMESOME stuff.... one lady named Lily she's excellent at her job and super friendly.

James Wiseman

Tried Match for first time, great service and food, very good for a pre game

Norman James

Lost a bunch of money than won it all back, not a bad place. Kind of small inside but good dealers. A little bit of street folks coming in and out but they watch decently!

Bob Vila

Really beautiful casino, it has a simple layout and it's easy to get drinks. I haven't tried the restaurants yet, but the looked nice, lots of parking unless a game or event is happening at Roger's

natasha harris

They must be making too much money on the slot machines to care about taking care of people. The slowest, non customer friendly bar service I have ever encountered. The Match lounge however was great and would go there instead for a drink.

The new operational hours make this casino worthless to visit. Using the economy as an excuse for the recent changes is hardly believable considering their sister casino at WEM stays open, and their competition, River Cree is seemingly growing bigger and better. What’s really wrong with this casino is it’s inability to provide free or at least cheap parking options nearby, the small size, underwhelming entertainment and dining options (you can’t rely on Rogers Place). Seems like many of its problems can be fixed with the cooperation of the City of Edmonton or the Oilers Entertainment Group, but if it’s not done soon it will be too little too late.

Philip Reid

It’s a really nice facility! Great people working there! But this place is never open. They changed their hours to half the week and event nights only. I went tonight because there’s an event. But, they’re not open! Sorry, either open up, or close up!

Julia Ryle

Good place to have fun. I was there last couple days ago. I really like it. They have good variety of slot machines. I really like the environment inside there.

Francis Rain

First time going there staff is friendly very nice and spacious and I won some money

Tabish Waseem

Very vibrant Casino built with Vegas style look. Everyone from Atlas to Match and casino floor staff and management is costumer focused and motivated.

Jarrod L'Hirondelle

My wife and I have enjoyed coming to the Grand Villa on special occasions for supper and games over the past few years as they provided complimentary parking. We were disappointed to find out on Sept. 22, 2018 that there are now only 2 rows of parking available and that we were expected to pay $20 (event parking price) just to come into the casino as paying customers. Needless to say, we made the decision to take our business elsewhere (Casino Edmonton) and will not be returning until parking improves.

Ben Kay

Nice Casino. If you're a serious gambler avoid this place on "event nights" at Rogers. High limit play is fun and relaxed and usually avoids the drunken younger crowds down below. They jack up the minimum table limits on event days. Atlas Steak is overpriced and under-delivers. Match eatery is excellent value. Parking is problematic but regular players get lot parking 2 blocks away and High Limit players can get comped underground with enough play.

Veronica Henderson

An absolutely fantastic building! Great architecture, beautiful inside and out. Easy access for everybody. I haven't had the opportunity to visit all this district has to offer ,yet.

Christopher Lui

Bright and open casino! Don't forget they have interior entrances from Rogers Place!

Crystal Johnson

The website said it was open but it was not. Got trapped in the parking garage with no visible exit to walk out after discovering the elevator wasn't working. Once we managed our way out of the garage on foot that's when we discovered the casino was closed. But only ten minutes in total back to the car to leave we still were charged 6 dollars for parking. And thank God we carry a credit card because there was no way else to pay to get out of parkade. I will never return to this establishment. False advertising and a RIP off.

Troy Crane

If your looking for a basic casino with slots and tables then this is a good place to go. If you want a good rewards program, good service, great food at a great price and helpful staff...go elsewhere. The restaurants and middle bar are not part of the casino. They are separate entities working together. Its like going to Wal-Mart and eating at McDonald's. All in one place but exclusive to one another. The casino advertises $5 blackjack every day, but in the many times i have been there, i have only seen 1 such table and only at certain times. The only advantage to the rewards program is free parking at the badly-taken-care-of baccarat parking lot. They need to improve things a lot.

Special K

IMHO I personally preferred the Baccarat Casino to Grand Villa and think they should’ve updated and renovated it instead. It had parking, the slot machines weren’t so crowded (& paid out), and the food was better than Match. Although it’s not that much farther, it really doesn’t feel as safe where parking and the LRT are. It really is too bad that it's not doing well and hours are being reduced though.

Andrel Wisdom

Nice, modern casino. The food and service at the Match Eatery restaurant certainly needs a lot of help however. Was not impressed with the quality of food or service in their opening days.

David Smith

I want to say good things about this casino, in the end I feel that the employees are trying but the management just doesn't care. Thus giving everyone who goes there a strange feeling.

William Miller

Very impressed with almost every aspect of this establishment. I have always been treated exceptionally well by all of the staff member's, the dining options are fantastic as are all other offering's this five star establishment seems to go out of their way to maintain.

Justin Olson

Loved it. Was a great atmosphere. Closest thing to a Vegas casino ive been too outside of Nevada

Andrew Truong

Casino Adventures. Stop #1. Multiple entrances so be ready to be carded multiple times. No poker room here. Lots of tables but don't seem very inviting. Slots loaded, payouts are very decent, but walk once you win. Very nice environment but also tightly packed.

Darrin Semple

Fairly certain this casino has shut down.

EdmBlogger

Tiny and cramped, Match reduces its menu to like 5 items if there is an event so that sucks. Seems like a bunch of snobs here not much for fun! You can hit up constantly for money and smokes from bums and apparently staff. Girl asks to bum a smoke I say no cause I just watched here pull out of a taxi and who is my server when we go to eat at Match the same girl. REALLY YOU LET YOUR STAFF BUM SMOKES FROM PATRONS SHAME ON YOU LIKE THE HOMELESS ISN'T BAD ENOUGH! there is not much parking and on event nights be prepared to spend $20 to park lol losing before you even get in the door.

shaun Donald

Whomever is in charge of doing there webpage needs to be taught that maintenance on the site is top priority. The owners thought that it could be a upper class cadino well theu should have built in a different location catering to the all classes would have kept your doors open .

brendanwoodster

Good location! always enjoy going here after a hockey game. There should be more table games as it's a little packed at the blackjack tables

Angela Guay sauce

The casino itself is wonderful. But .. the guy who stood at the doors before it opened was extremely rude and had no respect whatsoever.

Nata Corte

Worse Casino in the world situated next to the arena. Looks nice from the outside but when you walk through people smoking and bums outside the casino and its small. Staff are untrained and not pleasant. Over priced beer and cant get the …
