Park'd in the heart ???? of Strathcona, this jewel of a park marks tribute to that word 'historic' in the context of YEG's continuous expansion south. Cast-iron framed wood-slated benches invite young 'n small, older 'n tall to enjoy sunshine ???? at all times of the day. Cobble stoned pathways invite park guests & intrepid word(l)y travellers to visit adjacent brick-stoned buildings including Edmonton's first public library, opening its doors to the avid reader over a century ago (the doors still work). An art Barn & theatres are on the fringe ????of this most civic park, along with notable churches opening their doors to fellow citizens in need ????️. Cafes & eateries ???? abound South-side of the park with open patios - chill-time in the sunlight ???? or moonshine ???? (nod, nod, wink, wink ☺️). Commonly referred to as bike lanes, iron horses (civic term for bicycles) can be sighted in numbers riding off in all 4 directions ????. Whistlering 'I'd like to be ...' from Ringo ????, you just might entice the park's world renown Glorious Pink Sparrow (aka GPS in street lingo) to land on oneself - who let the birds 'n beautiful people out? ???? Whatever you do, don't be shy. The grassed area are an open invitation to stretch legs with your loved ones 'n friends ????. Whilst in Canada, do Canada - enjoy a park. Get it, got it ????? Stefan Ashton aka Sparrow ✌️ P.S.: See if you can spot the gargoyles (hint: not depictions of former McIntyre constituents ????).

This is a summer must for us as we visit the fringe and wander the grounds for the past 30 years. Many vendors, much to see and do. An Edmonton gem right off Whyte. Can't go wrong.

During fringe season, this place fills up. It's very organized and can squeeze in a lot!

Nice park by whyte to stop and have a sit, or eat an ice cream. There is usually something going down in this park. There are fringe performers, and buskers. sometimes there are protests about pretty much anything. Or homeless people arguing with a pigeon. Ah, I love whyte ave.

A quiet little oasis just off Whyte Ave. Well maintained, and very pretty summer and winter. It can be busy during festivals, but otherwise not crowded and a nice place to just stop and unwind.

The song by A. Morissette does it the most just justice, even if it's not your wedding day. This park lends an air of character to the neighborhood. It's inhabitants are very Strathcona and worth the visit.

I like this park. It's located behind the Old Strathcona farmer's market. It's easily identifiable by the gazebo. Recently, the City of Edmonton has placed more picnic tables for the summer. There are plenty of paths to walk around Saskatchewan drive, and this park is a good resting spot afterwards.

It's gone down hill. The park isn't terrible in and of itself, but the people smoking crack and wandering in circles while throwing garbage all about is a bit of a bummer.

While this has always been a hub of social & festival activity - the park itself is in need of further maintenance, surface upgrading & accessibility attention from the city. Not a comfortable surface to use a rollator or wheelchair on, and can be uneven enough that using a cane requires extra attention. Fantastic statues and stonework, but more bench seating would be very welcome as the park can get quite full at times.
