Beautiful for sight seeing. Nice walk around there. Very relaxing.
The funicular was closed for maintenance the day we went, so we ended up walking down the stairs to get to the lower level, not getting to experience the ride and the view. We did take the elevator that is closer to the river, down to the river valley trails. It smelled like urine; it wasn't pleasant to experience that with my younger daughter. The location behind Hotel MacDonald seems an odd choice to put the funicular. Feels a bit sketchy, and I was glad I went during the day time because I don't know that I would feel safe walking there at night or in the dark.
Free!!! Pretty views. A little difficult to get to. The interactive art at the bottom of the funicular was fun and interesting
One of the best spot in Edmonton. Great view of the Edmonton River Valley and the city landscape. Looking behind is the Fairmont Hotel adds up to the scenery reflects the richness of city’s history. Very well planned city infrastructure and development preserving the natural resources of the city.
I love this place in the summer they need to add to it tho great views but need a little more I felt
This place is awesome. You get to enjoy amazing view of Edmonton! Ride the funicular to go up or down and it's free!
Easy to access and slow enough to really appreciate the scenery and beautiful down town views of the river valley. It takes you down to walking paths by the river. There are also benches and stairs beside it. It's across the street from a bus stop.
Puts the fun in funicular! Great way to get up the hill (part way) from the river. Good views of the river valley. Free!!
its a great spot to take pictures of the river and from the back of the fairmont macdonald
Quite, doesn't really put the "fun" into Funicular. But it is worth the novelty of trying it out at least once.
Seems nice, but 1 out of the 2 times I went the funicular was closed, and the first time I went my passenger was just really rude. I could imagine on a busy day this place wouldn't be a great place to go as there's no crowd management and it's dependant on the manners of the general public. It's nice to have a funicular as an alternative to the stairs though.
Today - closed due to unsafe conditions during this heat wave. But usually I greatly enjoy it and am glad that it is here.
Lovely lookout on Edmonton's best feature. Makes the river valley more accessible to everyone.
Very good.
Covid19 Precaution : Only two persons allowed in funicular, but it is fun ridding on it. It is also fun walking up or down the 150 steps on the side.
The f.u. nicular .... it's doesn't work when it's too cold, too hot, after dark, after 7pm, before 7am or half the time .... be prepared to walk the darned steep stairs. Also, those same stairs are a weird height, so be prepared to sweat by the top. Ahhh, Edmonton... the epitome of (in)convenience. #StillinEdmonton
Pretty decent place if you are looking for aesthetic photos.
I expected a lot more for the $25 million price tag. The first 3 times I attempted to use it, it was not operational. The location is not ideal. Even though I have lived in Edmonton for 40 years, I have never gotten used to the smell of the storm water runoff pipe by the Low Level Bridge.
Nice family activity, thanks to the city of Edmonton!
Beautiful view and perfect for a romantic outing with someone you love. Rain or shine, this location is minutes from trails or downtown shopping. Very accessible with transit and LRT nearby.
Anticipation is greater than reality
Not working :(. No signs to say out of service. Doors would open but unit would not move. But luckily my kids had some energy to burn and they did the stairs.
Amazing view
It was not running this eve. I pushed my bike up the 110 steps ramp, with help from a cheering section of passersby. I really wonder why the bike ramp ends before the giant concrete steps at the top? I had to carry my bike up those. Good exercise on a hot day. Yay, me!
Great place very kool and great views of the city closes a little early I think but is open at 7 am so that's kool
Did what it was supposed to. Went up and down the river valley, leading down to a lookout. Nice spot to take a break from the downtown core. Suppose it could be a romantic ending to a night Downtown if ya put some effort into it hahaa
Very useful for climbing upto Downtown
Great view, super cool set up.
Great place to sit and let the view soak in. Thank you Edmonton.
Had nice talk with supper nice people. Also with my bike it was a breeze getting up into downtown. Thanks Edmonton
The funicular is a great addition in the already beautiful Edmonton. Its so fun to ride and the park itself is super cozy and accessible. Good job to the city of Edmonton!
A great addition to the downtown area and as an office worker I love being able to walk right down to the riverbank and back on a half-hour lunch break. Anything that improves accessibility for those who need it is also a huge plus. Love the viewing platform over the river. Great job.
It's kind of cool, but a fairly short ride. Good views of the river valley from the top, and access to the trails at the bottom.
Excellent view!
Nice view of the river valley. Need to fix the emergency stop button cover at the bottom as someone outside pressed it when we were riding. Thankfully the staff responded quickly and had us out in about twenty minutes
I use the stairs every day to walk to my office and for repeats when running. Beautiful views and makes the river valley really accessible to all. Great work Edmonton :)
I think this is a great addition to Edmonton! Providing easy access to the river valley for everyone.
It took my lazy Butt up the hill,... worked out great.
I had visited here on summer, unique place, highly recommended????????
Long wait to ride both it and the elevator, still fun enough
Great view from 2 points I always do the stairs lol
Wish people understood it's not supposed to just be a "ride" or for enjoyment. It's really great for those with limited mobility or with bikes/strollers/wheelchairs etc. to have easy and quick access to the river valley. The lookout it awesome and the stairs are good excersise if you're up for it!
It's to go up and down..Great way instead if stairs!! But there is no fun in funicular! Lol..just kidding.
The place and the views are gorgeous.
Very convenient access to downtown and back down to the river valley. Large enough for multiple wheelchairs and bycycles. Update** While the funicular is very convenient it's often broken and the city needs to fix the issues which causes it to continually break down.
This thing is a death trap. It's a glass box with only two tiny tiny windows so it is sweltering inside on sunny days. It takes longer for the doors to close than it would take you to walk down the stairs and it basically goes nowhere. The observation deck is underwhelming to be honest and the view leaves much to be desired. In short, it's a massive waste of taxpayers dollars.
Neat experience. Self service. Clearly explained. Quick and smooth ride
Great. Fun. Easy to use. Fast.
Get views and trails. Very close to downtown. The ride up and down is short enough that it is a nice, quick experience you can fit in to even a busy day if you are nearby. Great for kids.
I like this place as it is a great attraction for Edmonton. The views are great of the river valley and the Funicular and elevator allows for barrier free access from Jasper Avenue all the way to the river walking paths.
Nice view, near Frederick G Todd look out and river valley Trail with access to elevator. Not crowed during pandemic.
Love this free little sight seeing experience!
Nice winter scenery.
Great steps and a beautiful addition to downtown and the river valley. I just wish it was more reliable. It's often out of service and I've actually known people to get stuck in it! If you're a runner, definitely include these steps in your workout.
It's a nice way to spend part of an afternoon. A short ride on the funicular (rather than walking down stairs) takes you to a lookout over the river and walking trails. It was really nice.
Goes pretty quickly actually. Offers a pretty cool view of the River Valley Hill area day or night. Just make sure you make it before 9:30. And don't come here when it's freezing cold outside, not much parking in the area.
I didn’t expect the view to be this good. Definitely one of my favourite spots to visit in Edmonton.
Wonkavator! Or funicular... Or even Mechanized River Valley Access as the city officially calls it. Today was the grand opening & what a gorgeous day for it. I dropped by a couple of hours after the funicular opened to the general public & it wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. However there was a diverse enough group allowing me to see how it would be accepted. From Promontory Point adjacent to the Hotel MacDonald, the elevator travels slant ways down to a landing point just north of Grierson Hill in forty eight seconds. There's also a set of stairs with well thought out seating spaces throughout. Both routes allow for bicycles to accompany you. At the base, known as The Promenade, there's an interesting looking art installation along the grass & a path that leads to a bridge. The bridge crosses Grierson Hill, has some unique seating surfaces, and ends with a pretty lookout over the North Saskatchewan River. A set of stairs or traditional vertical elevator allows for an exit onto Grierson Hill street level connecting into the rest of the river valley. I like the idea of the funicular, as well it's nice to see the city looking for ways to spruce up our river valley in making it more accessible. However the placement seems a little strange to me. There's nowhere to really park a vehicle & head down to the river valley from the upper point. Not without paying for an underground parkade I guess. If you want to drive there & check it out (not everyone lives in the downtown core or within walking distance), you have to start from the lower point south of Shaw Conference Centre on Grierson Hill. The funicular doesn't take you all the way down into the river valley. You still have to travel down a path, cross a bridge, then take either the elevator or stairs for another stop. If this were placed further west, a funicular could land closer to River Valley Road and actually in the river valley. As it stands right now, there's an indoor version of the funicular 100 metres east inside Shaw Conference Centre. Nonetheless it's still a great addition to the city & this is only a preliminary opinion. We're still more than a season away before the river valley goes back to being busy again where we can really see how the funicular fits in with Edmonton's lifestyle.
I love this funicular. After hearing of funiculars from The Grand Budapest Hotel, I am always delighted to travel up and down this thing. The only people that take the stairs are fitness freaks and grumpy old people.
Well afraid of heights so was sketchy and I probably wont ride again but other than that a nice view and an interesting experience
Its awesome. Love it. Especially after exercising you it makes it easier to get back up the hill
Was closed for repairs :(
Fun, smooth ride with an awesome view! It's great for bikes or tired pedestrians who have been enjoying the river valley. It goes at an efficient pace - not too slow but not rushed either. One of Edmonton's best things ever.
Short ride and slow. It's an attraction but one not really worth any excitement. Maybe if the ride was longer it would be better.
Edmonton funicular was fun-icular! Absolutely wonderful views. But we had issues with the door! Luckily we persevered and my daughter figured out that it thought someone was coming in and the whole funicular wouldn't go up the hill. So she walked in and out and checked the door that it was totally closed and lo and behold up we went. Great to have a problem-solving daughter. I didn't want to hoof it up the stairs like others did!! I had seen it on Amazing Race Canada & wanted to see for myself. Then we stopped in at the top for hors d'oeuvres at the Edmonton Castle - Fairmont Hotel Macdonald built 1915. Beautiful afternoon in December!
I had no idea that the "funicular" was originally in Edmonton in 1908 but was removed upon construction of the high level.. seems silly to have ripped something out a hundred years ago to simply remake it. It saves a huge amount of energy coming up north bank of the river valley to downtown. Moves at a fair pace once your in and moving, but the loading and unloading could be sped up. The location is awesome bringing you right to the heart of downtown. Now we judt need one on the other side.
very beautiful scenery, always drive by and thought it's a diving board down the river for swimmers but never had the chance to pop by until about few days ago.???? Good job keep it up.
Great views of the river valley and bit of downtown. I just wish the funicular would go further down
Nice plqce
At first upon hearing how much the city spent on this I was hard pressed to see the justification. But after using it a couple of times, it does add a special something to the area. Nice place to hang out, see some views and it is actually helpful for bikers and pedestrians alike. Its def. Growing on me. Could use some improvements with the grounds though Perhaps a kids park or activities or a garden. May as well. The city spent millions, why not add some nice finishing touches?!
Beautiful place and nice views
Great public space. The view is amazing and the elevator / funicular works great. Is a must stop to take a picture and to walk through the river valley. Saskatchewan River and Fairmont Hotel views included!
Beautiful view stunning best time I'd say is sunrise or sunset but there only open 7am till 9pm so if your not wanting too use the stairs go during that time
Opened from Evening 4 to 9. Awesome experience and amazing view from Funicular
I'm going to be that annoying person on the Internet: technically this isn't a funicular because it's just one car, not two in a counterbalance system. Now that I've got that off my chest, it's a great short ride which reveals magnificent views as you gain altitude.
We had a nice visit here, a unique experience and I recommend it. The spray painting vandals sure try to make their ugly mark on the place but the hard working city employees do their best to make it right like it should be. Cheers and thanks!
Good view!!!
Nice, but not too special. Short ride to mid trail, walkway to elevator to access lower trails.
A bit of a gimmick, but still a nice quick and free thing to do with a multigenerational family in Edmonton
Great way to see the city! We stopped at the hot dog cart, which are a terrific $6 value, and did the stairs up and down. Stunning view of the river, the Mac, and downtown. Intercepts with lots of paths as well, which is terrific.
Best sunset spot in Edmonton!
Great way to get back up from the lookout over the river valley.
It takes an inordinate amount of time to start and stop once the doors are closed and when it arrives at the landing. There's a gap between the car and the landings that aren't great for accessibility, but they aren't bad either. The doors will stay open for you though so you can take the time you need to make it across the threshold and into the car. It's kept decently clean. Good view of the valley. Hope you don't fear heights. ????
This is an amazing attraction that everyone should visit. My children were so excited when I brought them here. They wanted to ride up and down all day if I let them. My son wanted to see if he could climb the stairs faster than the elevator could get the rest of us to the top...and he did lol The only downside...tons of people on peddle bikes that for some reason think it’s okay to ride their bikes into the elevator.
Nice in peaceful to see the river flowing n great place to climb stairs to get your workout on are to go enjoy with a partner are family n friends ect
Excellent view of the city and the river valley! A must watch! Well maintained!
It's a reasonably nice piece of infrastructure, when it works. It would be better if the trail at the top actually connected to bike infrastructure through downtown, ratger than spilling out on a sidewalk that seems to be designed not for bikes or active transport.
Has Edmonton put the fun in funicular? Yes I think so. It could be a little longer ride but that’s being picky. There are stairs beside the funicular that has rest spots on it if that’s your thing. Either way there are spectacular views of the river valley. Once you are at the bottom of the funicular you can walk over to a viewpoint that is almost right over the river maybe about 75 feet up from the river. It’s new and well designed. For those that are in a wheelchair there is easy access.
I LOVE the funicular. I use the river valley trails so much more now, especially with my bike. No more having to push it up a big hill. I'd love to see something similar on the south side of the river as well. Maybe not a funicular but some sort of elevator.
Been to this place for the first time, its really awesome. Clean area, looking out onto north saskatchewan river. It's just off downtown, fairmont mcdonald hotel. If you like being outside, the pier is a must see location here in Edmonton. Stay safe in your travels
Amazing view of the city and the river.
Binocular took us down, but for some reason it wouldn't go up, oh well, I needed the exercise.
Such a great time, a beautiful view!
Interesting but of entertainment for the little kids while we were downtown.
Lots of construction around this area but I think once it's over and everything is accessible it will definitely be 5 stars Great for walking, not sure where is good parking if you just want to go to the funicular though
The funicular is not a a funicular, it is an inclined elevator, a funicular by definition Are two rail cars moving in opposition and in a counter balance. But the INCLINED ELEVATOR is still a fun experience and I would recommend anyone and everyone regardless of age or mobility to visit the INCLINED ELEVATOR.
Please build more of these. I was against them initially but this system has made the River Valley Trails so much more accessible to people like my parents, who love the area but aren't able to make the climb out of the park. Also to younger and less experienced cyclists. The valley is an ideal place for children to go cycling but, the climb up the hill is impossible for little kids with bikes.
It's down for day 3.....sign says closed due to it being unsafe ????!!!!!
It's great for anyone that wants to go sight seeing or on a small hike
Runs very smooth, can take you to the top to the Fairmont Hotel. We loved the experience.
this where u wanna need to come down for early fat burning, they have stairs to walk up and down and will make you sweat fast and you won't see it coming, best place to work out for free and you can spend the whole day just working out and looking at the beautiful Saskatchewan river and the new bridge awesome place to kill time on Summer with no regrets, owe and there is elevator there if u cant make it through the stairs.
The funicular was an unexpectedly great adventure for my family and I. My elderly mom and uncle enjoyed not having to walk up and down the stairs! There's a second elevator to get down to the river level. There is a bridge with a walkway and a lookout over the river. You can see many bridges and beautiful views from the promenade bridge.
What can you say about a glass elevator? It's free, big bonus! Pretty views, and takes you to the look out with more pretty views.
Well neat idea but during the summer its much nicer at night so 9pm closing is a terrible choice. Allow a vendor at the bottom aswell. Over all it is a nice extra for the city of Edmonton's River Valley.
If you're looking for a little nature downtown, this is a great place to go! You can access the river easily enough, and it is suitable for all ages. A great place to do stairs workouts as well.
The funicular is now an integral part of Edmonton cyclists' routes to and across the North Saskatchewan River. it's wonderful that you can put your bike into the funicular and the elevator and get in and out of the river valley. City residents and visitors alike also really enjoy the funicular. We need more of this kind of visionary public experiences in Edmonton! The only problems with the funicular are two: first, is not knowing whether or not it's going to be running. The so-called regular maintenance seems to not be very regular and when it or the elevator are out of commission, it would be better if people knew this before they committed to the descent into the valley. Signage on the south side of the bridge for example would be helpful. Second, is the fact that getting off the senator at the top memes someone on a bicycle or a group of people walking are suddenly trapped on the narrowing sidewalk by the hotel MacDonald with no way to connect to other bicycle routes. This has been identified by various pedestrian and cycling groups. The question is, what will the city do about it?
Amazing place
It's a great place to visit and take pictures, except when it is cold. Wish it drew more crowd and if it had coffee shops around.
Beautiful spot specially during fall!
Love it. It's now a family repetitive thing after we go to kinsmen park ☺️ start up at the top by McDonald hotel and then go down to the second elevator at the bottom of the walk and then come back up to our car. Great idea in our city ????
It's always a great idea to be able to make a choice between stairs or funicular ha
Edmonton is so lucky to have this attraction. Well maintained, amazing views in all directions, and free!
It is really nice to go on the funicular and I loved it even though my feet were freezing
Beautiful place. Astonishing view
Need more please!
I don't know what to say. It's just one huge ladybug you ride on. Barbie: Mariposa is an ok movie. Currently watching it while writing this review. But the diamond castle is better than this movie. Go watch some Barbie movies.
Sometimes broken so not the most reliable access point, but great view and architecture. Take the pathways down to river valley trails and Louise McKinney Park.
Stubbed my toe here. 1 star rating. Unreal
Foolish and pointless. Only good part is while on board you won't drive over any potholes or smell sewage. (Edit: Nevermind it smells like sewage at the bottom.)
Was a pleasant experience, despite the funicular smelling like piss
Very cool. Great view!
Nice place to do the stairs, folks are kind to one another.
The views are amazing, and the nice workout up the stairs is a bonus ????????????
Neat little attraction. Takes your down to a viewing platform for views of the river valley. If you can take them, the stairs would be faster. But if your into slanted elevators, this is right up your alley. Brown when I went but is summer when everything bus been the views are fantastic.
Fun little adventure, as well as accessibility for wheeled devices, such as scooters, bikes, and carts. Great experience during morning to mid-day, can get less than desirable during the night due to unwelcoming characters.
Pretty neat feature for the River Valley. It makes getting into downtown from the trails extremely easy. It looks nice and is very user-friendly. People complain about it quite a bit but people are idiots so...
Pretty cool little ride. Saves you from hoofing it up the 200 or so steps from the lookout to the top of the hill. Haven't been on one of these since Italy (they have them everywhere there) and it was fun to be reminded of those travels.
I mean it’s kind of weird and a short trip down a small steep hill in a tall glass elevator- the view is nice but I am not sure what the purpose was in spending the amount that was spent for the idea offered. I can think of many more financially sound ideas that this money could have gone into-
Great idea and a nice touch for the city. However I wish the wood outside would withstand the elements better. It's already looking worn.
Amazing View point even this time of the year at the end of Funicular..Would definitely revisit in Fall to see beautiful River valley...
Neat experience. Really unsure why they didn't take it all the way down though. You have to get off and take an elevator to get down to the valley itself. Nice views, but the city could have done way better for the money they spent on this, in my opinion.
Great place for pictures
The 100 Street funicular is apparently a tourist attraction according to Google maps. I mean as far as a tourist attraction goes it is kind of boring. I have to say that I've seen better. But then again it is almost as good as Edmonton has to offer at the moment. I prefer their new bridge and then the hotel MacDonald right above the funicular.
Nice view To walk around here.
U get refreshed to see the beauty of nature supported by human intelligence
It's a cool thing to have here. Better access to the River Valley for everyone. Tonight though. I got stuck in it. I'd still use it
Really cool place to experience edmonton's river valley! Only downside is that the steps could have more landings for breaks. Accessibility from across the transit isn't the most convenient. The funicular itself is pretty cool!
Short ride but still cool! Went in a cold day still had fun.. I can't wait to experience it in the summer time when it is nice outside. Very nice views of the River Valley and the North Saskatchewan River(see pictures)! For a good time with family and friends I would highly recommend the 100 Street Funicular!
What a great idea. A gondola sort of like elevater up by MacDonald hotel which takes you to the next level of the river valley, which has sculptures of wavey things (sorry of like horizontal slides).
The view is spectacular from the viewing deck with plenty of seating. Easy access to walking paths with great views and sitting areas. The stairs are still an option with seating areas along the way. For the elevator it's self it takes about 30 secs more to begin so be aware of that. It's quite the treat and bikes are welcomed. There are also times of operation. The views and river valley are beautiful any time of year. Go and enjoy y ourselfs!!!
Doesnt work in the cold, doesnt work in the heat thanks city council for burning a pile of cash. Did i mention the maintenance down time? They ll never learn
One of it's kind in Edmonton. Takes you from top to the bottom in a minute. Big enough to fir 20 people. You can take your bikes or wheelchair easily in it. It's totally free for anyone however it's not open 24/7. Had a great experience with but on our way back top, the doors were stuck and wouldn't open for about 10 minutes, which was an inconvenience. However there was help available and was sorted out.
Excellent place! Beautiful view point!
Lovely way to gain height and great views
Great view!!
Views!!!!! Bring your Panoramic camera!
There is an elevator and stairs!! What a view!! Does it get better than this!?
Great view of the river valley, but the steps would have sufficed. Really no need for this expensive outdoor elevator.
Gorgeous place to start or finish off a river valley walk ❤️
Took my students here in a field trip. It's a cute thing to do to familiarize yourself with downtown Edmonton. Easily accessible by train. Nice walking area. Beautiful in the winter.
Beautiful views of the river valley and downtown Edmonton.
It's fun, but short lived. The whole walk down by the hotel and the park is nice too
Would probably be nice if it ever worked on a regular basis.
It's got a funky smell inside. Otherwise it's good. Goes up and down.
It’s ok, the views are great though!
Fun little area. Stairs will kill you funicular is a fun little ride.
The Funicular makes downtown much more accessible on my bicycle.
Beautiful view of the Saskatchewan River. Cool breeze.
Fun, pun intended attraction in town that allows for quick access to the river valley and a fun little adventure. Stumbled across this hidden fountain. Also has a great set of stairs you can take if you are feeling fit
Interesting way to get to the River Valley. The Funicular is located by Hotel MacDonald and operates from 7:00 am to 9:00pm daily. This will be a great space in the summer to wat lunch and people watch. The ride is not very long but you get a great view. Try it out soon!
Great views! And a cool attraction. Parking is a bit difficult to find. Also seems to be out of order fairly often. We waited at the top because it wasn't working and then someone came to fix it. It was working well but then we ended up walking back to the top. A lot of stairs!
The elevator and the funicular provides people with limited mobility the chance to enjoy the beauty of the river valley. It will only get better as the leaves sprout in full. A fine addition to North America's largest urban park.
Good area to see and experience Edmonton from height. Besides Fairmont Hotel skylift like one at Niagara Falls is there, which takes tourist/visitors to river front.
The funicular makes accessing the trails along the river so much easier for those with mobility issues or others on bikes, or with strollers, walkers etc. It's free and open from 7am- 9pm, everyday.
Super fun! Have taken lots of friends here. I mean it definitely won't be fun for everyone, it's a funicular. But I like it.
Tried it for the first time today was fun
Was pretty exciting to finally ride it! The 5 stars is for the novelty of it!
Shame about the garbage under it, view are so pretty!
After a morning ‘cruise’ on the River Queen, we wandered around looking at various flower gardens (very nice) along the river bank and then came upon the Funicular as we exited the MacDonald Hotel. We rode it down into the valley, wandered some more, then rode it back up. Totally free so that part is great. On way up was packed with bicycles and strollers and old folk (like us). But great way to get up from the valley. I would use it again. By the way, the tress were in autumn bloom and beautiful that day. At end of September. Flowers I. The many gardens had not yet been devastated by frost so all was quite spectacular. And Funicular was a bonus. Use it if you are in .the neighbourhood. .
Great place to go for a walk. Its wheelchair accessible so strollers are welcome too. Theres lots of stairs but also an elevator from river valley park side
I liked the how the elevators have glass around it to look out at the views. It's a nice touch that I think lots of elevators could benefit from. The varied steps could trip people up if they're not paying attention but if I worked around here I would regularly visit this place during my lunch breaks. Seems like a nice place to chill
Interesting access to a beautiful part of Edmonton. Gives the mobility challenged another place that they can enjoy without barriers. Also remarkably clean for being open to the public.
Great tourism attraction. City needs to have more of these within the river valley .Two complaint I have is that is the appearance of the wood could be stained each year , and a safety issue is the lookout over looking the river by the elevator has a glass fence which had been replaced with plywood temporary fix. But no metal fence bars were every installed the rest of the glass has it
If you haven't been, go.
What a waste of money, the cost to build and the upkeep out weighs this pathetic excuse of a visitor attraction. The gondola is just another money making scheme for this private entrepreneur. Both of these will NEVER make Edmonton a world wide tourist attraction .
Gorgeous views! Fun! Take a little stroll, you won't regret it. Either a 15 minute diversion, or a bridge from Downtown to the River Valley Trail Network. The stairs are cool too.
Happy every time I'm able to use the funicular
A great way to see the river valley. Perfect to get from the river valley up to Jasper Avenue if you're on a bike.
It was so cool, the view is awesome!
A great place to enjoy being a tourist in your own city. A nice addition to a date night.
You can really feel the fun in funicular.
Nice view of river. Short ride
Amazing place, ride the funicular for tree, Great views. Park at the Louise Mckinley park and walk here.
Perfect best place to view edmonton !!
Stopped by on walk with coworker but was unable to ride the funicular as it was being reset! Apparently someone hit the emergency stop button causing it to malfunction. Will have to go back and give it a try.
Great views! What a great addition to Edmonton ???? it moves pretty quickly too. There is the option to take the stairs next to it if you wanted to. It takes you to a new bridge that overlooks a lot of downtown Edmonton and the river.
I liked the funicular. Not 24 million dollars worth of like but was nice the enjoy on a beautiful day.
Putting the fun in funicular!!
Great addition to the city, great views, gets people moving around the river valley and downtown, and has increased vibrancy in the area. For anyone nay-saying the City should have spent their money elsewhere, they should be aware that this was built with primarily with Federal stimulus money (provided under Harper) that was ear marked for river valley access, it wasn't as if it could be spent elsewhere on potholes or adding more lanes to the Henday.
Definitely worth trying if in the area offers really nice view of river valley dt free and super accessible
Cool, epic, and rad
The Funicular itself is approximately 3 minutes taking you to another level to access a lower view point of the valley. That gives you another access through the use of an elevator to get to the path network of the river valley. Excellent view points of the Edmonton Queen, Hotel MacDonald, Canada place, and the Edmonton Convention Centre. Very pleasant and if you want a workout the stair climbing going from the bottom of the Funicular to the top is a crazy awesome workout! Have fun! Enjoy the view!!!
The views are wonderful. Easy way up for people. Those who have trouble on steep stairs can go down and stroll towards Louise McKinney park, enjoy an ice cream at Riverfront plaza.
Very beautiful view
Never is working ... I wouldn't make a point of visiting this location because its not likely running...however there's a beautiful set of working stairs right next to it.
Brought my parents. They really enjoyed it!! I enjoy taking the stairs as well Great river valley views!
Good little day out and walking around Edmontons beautiful river valley
I love this place
The serenity of the frozen river at night, as well as the solitary coyote roaming around the river bank, was quite an unusual experience. The funicular worked perfectly.
Such a short ride that I was really impressed. Can't believe the city wasted so much money on it.
