This was our first time visiting the Alaksen Reserve. We ended up here because we didn't know we needed a reservation for the neighbouring one. It was a delight. There was enough parking. The kind security guard, Kandola greeted us and made sure we could find the trail. He even showed us the map. And he made sure we knew it closes at 3. The trail was great, gravel, dry and flat. We saw plenty of birds and water, it was beautiful. And the bathroom was so clean, it smelled like it was brand new! The most amazing part was that when we returned to the car, my little purse was hanging from my door handle! With all my credit cards and Id still there! I must have dropped it without even noticing! And an honest person put it there! Kandola the security guard was at the exit, and he heard about it and was happy that it got back to the right owner. Thank you for your kindness and honesty!! We will be back very soon. Thank you for all your work maintaining this treasure of a park.

A hidden gem in Vancouver. There is a cost to enter, but it is worth exploring. Small bags of food are available for purchase or you can bring your own bird food. Most of the birds are very friendly and happy to eat right from your hands!

Karl Tsang

Wonderful wildlife sanctuary area, many numerous different birds in the area. All the birds are very tame and lets you feed them. Went here during early spring and there was a large flock of snow geese.

Xiaolei Deng

Great place to spend some time either by oneself or with others. There are a lot of different kinds of birds here and the park is very relaxing and refreshing.

Good for kids to touch nature and wildlife birds, good for family to enjoy fresh smell and seasonal view, and some exercise as well. Wonderful outdoor activity!

Daniel Nica

Although the page is somewhat remote (isn't that the whole idea?) getting there is an easy and pleasant drive. The sanctuary is well maintained and thousands of ducks, swallows and noisy gees roam around free. There is a small entrance fee and you can also but seeds to feed the birds.

Wonderful area

Ranjani Theregowda

Excellent place to spend a happy day with your kids...well maintained and plenty of birds to see.

Simon Johnston

Great place to wander around and watching the birds. Bring the kids too as it's a friendly place to buy seed and feed the ducks.

Patel Pankaj

Nice place for a day trip. Good for family fun. Specially for kids. They will love it. Lots of birds and free moving around you.

Kristi Schofield

Absolutely the best place to view birds in the Delta area.

Adam Hickey

Feeding the birds here was amazing, nice to have them eating from your hand and landing on you! I will definitely come here again.

Great alternative if you can't get into Reifel Birds Sanctuary. Really long relaxing trails

Great place to be at any time of the year. This place is essentially a wild bird reserve that holds some of the most diverse bird species in Canada! In October, flocks of snow geese can be larger than 25000 in numbers! It is similar to a very easy and simple hiking trail with a watchtower and viewing areas along the way. Ducks and chickadee will be everywhere, and if you purchase some feed from the front desk you can feed them. This place is probably best enjoyed in the winter when there are the most birds. One small problem though: go to the washroom before you enter as there are next to no restrooms in the trails.

Gemini Erica

Amazing place to go for some pictures or take your family for a learning experience. Plenty of ducks and geese that come right up to you and chance to see some rare birds. Worth multiple visits to catch a glimpse of the birds that come year round. You can take a lunch inside and it's fairly inexpensive and great for a day out. Don't forget to buy or bring some bird seed. Its $1 for a small bag at the sanctuary.

Mohammad Yousefi

What a lovely spring day with the family in a great nature-friendly place to see such fantastic scenes !

Most of the pictures and reviews here are for the Reifel Bird Sanctuary (5191 Robertson Rd). The address of this listing (5421 Robertson Rd) has different trails and hours than Reifel.

Laraina Murphy

Walking among nature is fun for the entire family, children of all ages enjoy feeding the wildlife at bird sanctuary. Bring your own seeds or buy it from the gift shop. The fee to enter takes care of the protected area, no pets allowed.

Actually I was in George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary next door to Alaksen. It was cool and wet but in a 3 hour circuit, we saw 48 species. Note: visits must be booked

PS

Nice place. Flat and wheelchair accessible to certain point. We met lots of friendly visitors.
