Nice to see the original existing marker.

Nice little photo op on the road. Not really a place to stop and admire, but a drive by is worth seeing it!!

I love that people come from all over just to see it, to take photo's with it, and to admire it. A mile marker? I don't really get it, however I do love all the excitement it brings.

Don Cameron

A piece of history I only knew as propaganda. The revelation was worth the trip. Don't you wish the road workers in your town could be so inspired? I do.

I liked the milepost but it's in the middle of the street! It's impossible to get a great selfie to match the end of the Alaska Highway. We were quite sad to discover that there's traffic also at the milepost.

Beautiful drive, a little dangerous in mid December because of the white out snow storms, but if you just pay attention, take your time. It's great!

Fabulous place to buy souvenirs and take pictures. Some of the clothing is overpriced just because it has Mile 0 on it or the Alaska Highway. Other than that, the area is great to explore. There is an art gallery there as well. Although it wasn't open, we visit family in the area so will definitely be going back. Dawson Creek area was just beautiful the day we were there and the customer service we received in the visitor information center was fantastic. Highly recommend people stop in and ask some questions.

Historical but for some reason the mile marker was covered in paper butterflies and it obscured the writing on the post

It is in the City Center area. Avoid following the signs for Hwy 97.

It's a post in the middle of the road. Looks great. Great photo op!

This was an incredible historic spot to take a family photo after the drive from Fairbanks. Standing where the surveyors and soldiers stood in 1942. Very cool. Locals helped take our photo too.

Couldn't resist stopping here to take the customary photo as so many others have done over the years. Should have come by the night before though as I drove into town, as the morning was much busier. Be careful taking your photo - the milepost is in the middle of the intersection. Better yet, get the friendly folks at the Alaska Highway House to take a pic for you. Also, remember that the mile 0 cairn is up the street a bit at the tourism info centre. Another photo op awaits!

rudel stricker

A must-stop point for every Alaska traveler. If you come in early May, you just can make "your own" photo. Later on, you may have to line-up on the the big parking space in front of the sign...

I know it says world famous but that is a bit of a stretch. This is North America famous at best. It was a marvel of engineering when it was built during the war. The terrain was challenging and the work was mostly manual. The history is interesting and the stories are heartbreaking. The city that this highway starts at is a whole other story. Dawson Creek is a clown show of a town. We're talking Ringling Bros meets the cast of Deliverance. It is like a whole psyche ward escaped by diving head first into the parking lot and the survivors just kinda started hanging out at the mall. If you're in to running from the police with a box full of firewood or beating on Walmart greeters, this might be the town for you. If you're looking for drugs or the latest antibiotic resistant STI, you would be in the right place as well. My advice is head to Alaska, don't look back, never look back. Don't question why you are one of the lucky ones who managed to make it out alive. Just keep trucking and be glad you never passed the event horizon of this black hole of a town and got sucked in to suffer the rest of eternity in purgatory.

Rosa Mandziak

Right there in the middle of the intersection. If you want to see it thou don't go at Christmas as it is replaced with a Christmas tree for the holidays.

It was really cool to see this iconic land mark.

Only 2 lane. Many wavy spots dips and gravel repairs. Worth the trip just prepare for changes in quality of road.

This is it. The start of the Alaska Highway. Ending milepost is in Delta Junction Alaska at Mile 1422. Looks like they were created by the same artist.

Val Kinnee

I mean, you have to stop and take a picture but it's in the middle of an active street. If you stay on the sidewalk you're too far away and if you go to the actual market you are too close. You gotta do it tho', just be careful.

A milestone moment! The history surrounding that place was beautifully explained in writing. Felt like the start of a highly adventurous journey for those intending to undertake the long drive to Alaska. But for most others, constrained like myself, just being there was a good enough :)
