Fairways and greens are in great shape. Beautiful course, but it would be much nicer if the traps were actually filled with sand. There are a large number of traps to contend with and they are hard packed sand full of weeds, making the course very challenging for the average golfers.
Played 7/31 The course is in amazing shape. Greens are In great shape. We were amazing in the conditions of the course
I really like this golf course! The course is in pretty good spring condition! The greens are rolling very nicely and the views are spectacular
Nice course, some nice holes but most are average. Nice clubhouse.
Fantastic course.
Very nice golf , narrower fairways in areas so play for accuracy..... had nice round. Excellent shape and practice area is very nice. Watch the GPS and play safe for a fun time.
Awesome Track and well maintained keep up the good work guys ???? ????
Awesome course.
I am a member and completely satisfied with all Shadow Mountain has to offer.
Great track. The bunkers need some sand added as they are quite hard packed. Greens and fairways are in great late season shape.
Shadow Mountain is a MUST play !! Course is so well manicured, checkered cut fairways, true rolling greens and tee boxes are the best I've ever seen. This on top of the spectacular views. Showed up with a group and had a welcome sign for our group which was a nice touch. Staff was excellent thoughout, Pro Shop, lounge and on course. Play it on the Monday or Tuesday for $64 all in... just a wonderful experience and our group will make this a stop annually. Thank you to all involved :)
The food was good and the scenery was amazing. We enjoyed our lunch very much.
Tough course but great condition. Men's day is a great deal. Dinner was nice.
Awesome and tough course.
Really challenging layout with awesome views. Course was in excellent condition.
Beautiful course but a bit narrow in spots and hilly in other places with lots of sand bunkers on one or both sides. But all in all, a very nice course.
Course is in great shape, staff on and off course was extremely friendly, overall a very good experience
If you want a heart attack or a stroke than come to this place! There's no other ways to put it.. ????????????????
The course is challenging and superbly beautiful. It is incredibly well maintained. It is a lure to anyone driving on the highway and looking down at the lush green fairways. It is clear that this is a well managed operation where the customer feels highly valued.
Ladies night golfing in the rain was so much fun!
A nicely maintained course that is fun to play. Good staff. Recommend it.
Great course. Well kept, nice staff, great feature holes. Played with early rates that included carts, range and fees for $80.
My favorite course in the area.
The Beast
Good course. A couple of very elevated tees to make it real interesting.
Great golf,beautiful course and food.
What a fun place to play!!
Would be better if you were surrounded by water
Great track. Scenic and challenging
Great golf course, well maintained, awesome views, great staff! Good value for a course like this!
Went out for a round on opening day for this course. You would think they would be ready for players. Two out of 3 golf carts were dyingby the 6th hole, used the omboard gps to order new carts..got nothing. One finally died on the 10th fairway, we called the pro shop to get a new one which finally arrived 3 holes later then another one after another two as they took one of our original carts back with them as only one staff member came out (rookie mistake i imagine) none of the bunkers were raked...this is opening day!!! We were also told that the snack shack was accessible three times throughout the round, he was correct but it was not open, didnt even have any food or drinks at all, empty. I would not go back way better courses up the road in kimberly and can guarantee when they open the course for players they will be ready.
Very nice course. Challenging with nice greens. Beautiful elevation changes. Would absolutely golf this course again!
Fantastic golf course
This is my favourite course in the East Kootenays! With rolling fairways and expansive greens, every hole presents a unique challenge. Holes 15 and 17 feature dramatic elevated tee boxes, and views of the Rockies and the Purcells. My favourite hole is number six. From the tee box there are amazing views of the St. Mary’s River and Mt. Fisher, and it’s a nice reachable par four. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend stopping for a round at Shadow.
Beautiful diverse course with not 1 but 2 cliff hangers. Topped it off with a superb steak dinner plate for the group on the patio after.
Fantastic course. And amazing views.
Such a beautiful course and well maintained. The views are stunning. The course is challenging but fun.
Well maintained and cheap to play!
Outstanding
The course was in fair shape, greens were nice. Sand traps need work as they were hard packed and impossible to play out of.
Lovely
Decent early season conditions. Covid-19 restrictions in place with thorough communication of new rules.
Great course, friendly staff enjoyable experience
Very challenging course and amazing views on every hole.
Course is in great condition and it was reasonably priced!
One the best courses I have played. Great views and some very cool holes. If you are in the area it is a must play.
Course is in immaculate shape. Challenging course where you need to play smart. Food is homemade an awesome
My favorite course. Always in great shape, beautiful views, tricky yet not impossible holes and extremely well priced for the quality. A must play in the Cranbrook area.
Wow, do yourself a favor and golf this track!!!!
Sooooo Beautiful.
In general, the greens and fairways were in excellent condition. Didn’t take advantage or range so no comment there. Found the overall property is lacking in quite a few areas, the unfinished construction and roads leaves an empty feeling, and the clubhouse isn’t a good representation of a course that has an expectation as high as this one... the pro shop is more like a semi pro shop, there’s no starter on the course or Marshall’s so heads up on that front. The scenery is very nice and authentic, but it’s obviously lacking/losing money because the incomplete work and the lack of care regarding landscaping the holes, bunkers, and maintaining the holes. For the money, you can do much better. Challenging and very well laid out though. There’s a lot of potential here but someone needs to get some money injected into the course because nothing has changed since it opened.
Incredible course. Obviously knowledgeable grounds crew - keep it in great condition. Food is superb. Great golf experience with beautiful scenery. Check out Holes 15 + 17.
Excellent course.
Absolutely one of the prettiest courses but extremely hard.
Beautiful course but there's no place for a bit on the turn
One of the most challenging courses in the East Kootenay region. It winds thru alpine hills and valleys and has added difficulty with waste bunkers along some fairways. Due to economic conditions, the green side bunkers and waste bunkers are in poor shape.
Best groomed course around. If you don't like this course you probably aren't a good golfer....haha. My favorite one.
The more I play here, the more I like it. There are still a couple of things that annoy me, like the massive waste bunker all across the fairway in the landing area on 5. There's challenging and then there's just WTF? But all in all, it's a great course in great shape. And the staff makes up for the annoyances.
Every hole is interesting but tight. Turf care needs knock down the high clover. Greens are good ????.
The best course I’ve played in a long time ,best conditioned and incredible layout .Staff super friendly Mel in pro shop very helpful and exceptional on promoting the course. The value is by far the greatest around these areas .I will definitely be back and bring more friends ,do yourself a favour and play this hidden gem ☝️
Really fun course that is in great shape.
Very good condition. Could have had a little nicer weather, but overall very good.
Seems to be the same meat on everything you order love the decor .
Great layout and some spectacular views. Looks like they're doing catch up maintenance on greenside bunkers. Thanks to Ally in the snack shack!
Awesome track, great views, friendly staff. Drove here for the day from Calgary and loved the place. Fairways could have been designed flatter tho. Greens were great!! A must play!!!!
Love this course best in the area!!!
Played Shadow Mountain earlier this week. Was my first trip to the Cranbrook/Kimberley area for a golf getaway. This course is SPECTACULAR!! Great early week rates, well appointed practice facilities, and all greens/fairways/tee boxes are in excellent shape. Grounds crew did creep up a bit too close on their equipment on a couple of holes which was a bit distracting, however I can overlook that oversight as all in my party were more than satisfied with the overall enjoyment of the course. My only regret is we had only booked one round at this gem.
Wow, what a beautiful place. Really enjoyed the day.
Beautiful course
Have a bad taste about this course. First let me start of by saying that as far as course goes I and the people I bring with me always enjoy golfing on this course .I'm in a campground that has 70 trailers and it is about one and half hours away .I always bring a group to your course to introduce them to your course as I don't like to golf alone .Good for you and good for me. Now onto my bad taste. Around the first week of July I brought a party of 4 people and it was overcast that day. Although it was overcast we decided to golf .On the second hole of play it started to rain. By the end of second hole it turned into a torrent down pour. At this point we decided to go in as we were drenched and did not want to cause damage to the golf course. This is where my bad taste began. Talked to the GM and was told there would be no Raincheck or Reimbursement of any kind. When paying there was no mention of the rain check policy. So the 260.00 and 3 hours of driving went down the tube. Thought we were doing the club a favour by not damaging the course. Yours Truly Mike Kennedy
First time at course and the round took 5 Hours! This was a Tuesday. They have limited staff, so no starter, no marshal. The course is fortified with bunkers. The waste bunkers are filled with overgrown clover and the green and fairway bunkers are void of sand. There are a few holes with spectacular views but there are much better options for courses in the area, which are in better condition and play on pace.
Nice lush tee boxes. Fantastic fairways and greens.
Challenging and awe inspiring course
The course has some unique holes and is interesting to play. It has some difficult holes and will test your game.
Tough course with some very unique holes. High handicappers should bring a lot of balls.????
always challenging course
One of the best courses I’ve played.
Our first time to golf at Shadow Mountain. We had been told it is very challenging but honestly it was not that difficult. You do need to be somewhat accurate to help your score but it was a delightful day. We had the pleasure of golfing with 2 ladies and they made the day perfect with their tips for ball placement. Thanks to Flo and Gloria for a guest day!
Can you tame the Monster?? 600 plus yard monster overlooking a valley gaping bridge. Challenge accepted. Make an appointment with this beauty if you already haven't.
Excellent golf course in superb condition simply a terrific place to play.
This course is unreal for a recently developed course. The grooming and course quality was second to none even during the shoulder season. The facility and staff were fantastic, and very attentive to the customers needs. I thoroughly enjoyed using their practice facility, the target yardages had greens cut into them for a more realistic iron approach feel. The views while playing the course and from the tee box were amazing. I will return to this course to play it again and would recommend it to anyone in the Kimberley area.
My favorite course on this side of the Mountains
Its a gimmick course the layout is pretty retarded no reward for good shots! Service is the worst! Hottest day of the year and theres no cart girl and they closed the snack shack! Marshall wasn't around so dident know when to tee off, the pro shop is lacking in any kinda product! The views are nice but thats about it! Wont recommend this to anyone especially for the price of a rnd! Want a great course for the cost go to st. Eugene!!
Beautiful golf course
Our golfing experience at this course today was disappointing. We found the fairway bunkers to be poorly maintained as they were packed hard and contained stones. Also, it was interesting that a washroom on the ninth hole was actually a portapotty. The design of this course was unusual in that the distance between the green and the next tee box is overly expansive. Unfortunately, our group decision is to choose other courses in the area on which to spend our money and our time. We have golfed Trickle Creek, Bootleg Gap, Kimberley, Wildstone and St. Eugene. Our group opinion is that these aforementioned courses are preferable to Shadow Mountain.
Course is great But needs better service as they don't stay open for afternoon golfers drink shack closed before we got back no food after seven clubhouse closes at 8 very disappointed as they wouldn't open a bottle of water to mix drinks with and no mix for drinks either ... I would quiz them before booking tee times. Also sand bunkers are being left to grow in and taking away from the appearance of the course
Beautiful Golf Course unfortunately not staffed properly and upkeep needs to be improved Great Price
Ok
Friendly staff, clean well maintained carts, the course is a hidden gem in the heart of Palm Desert, a terrific value and well worth a visit!
Course in great shape, staff accomodating, round just so so....whites moved way up from usual. Shorter holes. Greens excellent.
beautiful course! very friendly staff. tough course but fair
Longer distances between green and next tee which takes away from the golf flow. Forgiving fairways but much hard packed sand. Many holes seemed to replicate. Course condition in decent shape for last week of September. My preference is to play a course that flows but offers a larger variety of hole layouts.
What a wonderful round of golf today at Shadow Mountain golf course in Cranbrook, BC. The weather was perfect and even before we got onto the course, the experience we had in the pro shop with two of the most friendly ladies on staff was amazing. After signing in for our tee time we headed over to get our cart. That turned out to be another incredible meeting with a truly professioable staff member who not only gave us the keys to our cart but explained the course layout and was a delight to talk with. He personally escorted us down to the starter in order to make sure we got on the course at our scheduled time. We golf many courses in BC and the US and this has definitely been the best experience we've encountered. We would absolutely return to this course again if we come to the area and highly recommend it be put on your list! Sharon Brew & Joanne Langevin
Order the breakfast sandwich awesome!! Course was in great shape and the staff was very accommodating to 6 very needy ladies!!!!
Great Course
A great course interesting & challenging holes but still friendly for the casual golfer. Shout out to Brenda in the pro shop for just outstanding customer service!!! Can’t wait to come back.
Excellent golf faculty but tournament length rough at fairway bunkers were highly over rated. No need for these types of penalties for errant shots. Of course I didn't make any but my golf buddies were livid. ;)
We are there to golf, drink and eat. Clubhouse is average at best but food is great. Practice facilities are top notch. This is the toughest course in the valley. Bunkers are brutal. They are full of weeds and have no sand in them. Tee boxes, fairways and greens are in good shape. This course seems to be going backwards with maintenance. It’s now number 4 in the Kimberley/Cranbrook region.
Plays like a shot makers course. Greens are fast. Bunker and rough maintainance is sorely lacking. Dinner was good.
Great course, beautiful scenery, excellent friendly staff. The course marshall was so understanding, since this was our first round here. Two thumbs up!!
Wonderful.
Really great golf course, challenging but playable. Very beautiful and immaculately kept. Staff very friendly. Do yourself a favor and play here soon.
Beautiful facility,wonderful staff. A must!!!
Tough golf course but lots of fun. Food and service was great
Challenging course. Lots of fun.
Great
Great scenery but course condition wasn't great. Bunkers are a joke, no sand, lots of weeds and rocks!!! Clubhouse is lacking, no beverage cart and snack shack was closed early on a Saturday. Also they had no starter or marshals. Played Trickle, Wildstone and Bootleg on this trip, all way better options for this area!
Did work on a house and loved the place. CLEAN!
Course was in great shape and we thoroughly enjoyed the round.
Love the course
Great course that will challenge every part of your game, greens are in wicked shape, bunkers are not as soft as would be expected. Carts have awesome GPS scorecards and proshop service was awesome.
Previously gave course a poor review as greens were slow. Played today and the speed was much better. Well done Brad and his crew.
Not recommending. Did not feel welcome at all. Shack closed at 4:15pm on a Saturday.
Great shape for early season
Best course I've played in Cranbrook
Spending a few days in the Cranbrook area for a short vacation. Golfed at Shadow Mountain. Great course. Excellent condition. Challenging but playable by various levels of capability. Holes # 15 and 17 are true signature holes....spectacular. If you are in the Cranbrook area and have your sticks with you, take the time to to try the course. You will not be disappointed.
Beautiful setting... got rained out though.
The course itself was beautiful, and for the friend of mine I took, was a great experience. However the lady we had to deal with at the pro shop left an awful taste. Starting out was not a pleasant person, and leaving even worse. Had we realized we were going to get a call halfway back in to town (with a very undermining and guilting tone) asking where my friend was and why she had not come in for her free dinner...The dinner is not mandatory and I should not be made to feel bad for leaving after my 18 holes because it is what I though a rude time to go into a clubhouse when they probably are closing. I feel it was unacceptable for her to go out of her to call and ask where I was. My own mother hasn't done that to me since I was 14.
Views are spectacular, strongly suggest a cart, very well maintained course, challenging, imaginative. Staff were very accommodating, but no beer cart today, but all around an excellent experience, strongly suggest this course.
Great course. I really enjoyed playing here and will return again.
Great course with fantastic views.
Really super ppl
The course was worth every penny.the food was great.and the server was outstanding the English lady.loved her she is a people person
Awesome experience
Clubhouse and kitchen staff did a great job hosting our group of 16. Food was fantastic and the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The course was in wonderful shape and the layout was fun and challenging. Would definitely recommend!
I golfed Shadow Mountain in early August, and the course was in fantastic shape. I've golfed all of the other courses in the area, and there really is no other course to compare it against, due to the terrain the course was built on. If you're a fan of elevated tee boxes and endless views, it's a MUST golf when you're in the area. Unlike many other courses, where some holes seem overly similar, each hole on this course is memorable, and never similar. Signature holes 15 and 17 will make you want to golf it over and over again. Well worth your money and your time.
We came to golf shadow from calgary and Drumheller. No beer cart, no snack shack open. Couldn't get a beverage or snack until the 14th hole. Called the clubhouse after 9 holes they didnt seem to care. 12 guys in our group that come out to courses in the area every year all very disappointed and all said they wont be coming back to this course.
Great course for all skill levels. Picturesque holes and fair greens. If you hit an accurate long ball it will result in low scores. It is a thinking man's course so trust your first instinct!
This is a fabulous course. Groomed to perfection.
great course. BEAUTIFUL, challenging, excellent staff, fun signature holes and creative. a must try.
Great layout with beautiful greens
Best to play Monday or Tuesday in the summer for the cheaper rates. I played here a few times this summer and think it's definitely more challenging than the indicated slope rating.
I play this course with a group from the states each fall! It’s my favorite course in the valley! Narrow fairways! A premium on accuracy! Greens are nice! Great views from a lot of tee boxes
Very scenic but seemed to be slow moving
Amazing course. Beautiful well maintained. I think they want you to golf faster which bothered us but that's normal. Hard course to golf faster
Great mountain course
Great views from tee boxes!! Challenging course!!
