Great Lakeside Provincial Park, with decent camp sites with good, level tent surfaces. Many of the sites are double sites, with slightly less privacy. No showers, but great lake swimming.

This lake is the best. Great for a kayak or canoe! I remember this lake as a kid and I don't think it has changed much. 0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000pppppppppp00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000.

Pack a lunch, grab a swimsuit, nice little spot outside of Cranbrook. Close enough your takeout will still be warm. They have addressed the ground squirrel issue.

Great place to go for a walk or run, many trails to follow along on the back side of the lake all the way up and over the hills. Beautiful place to take photos or film. A lot of people most days, stays popular all year. Awesome swimming and canoeing spot all spring/summer/fall and when it ices over fantastic skating, hockey, and ice fishing place all winter. Gate does lock at night to the lake parking lot but campground stay open all summer. Also has a dock for swimming or fishing and boat launching area.

Mike Laduranteay

Nice place to camp.

This park is located just outside Cranbrook, BC Canada on Hwy 95. It is located near the lake shore just far enough off the hwy for quiet days and nights. The beach is a short walk from the campground with a large parking area for day use and campers. Grass area is pitted by marmot dens but there is a nice sandy beach and shallow shore for swimmers. A dock is provided for fishing and swimming well away from the boat launch. Picnic tables and benches are nestled under trees along the shoreline. The campground is on a hill side with well space, large, leveled sites with good privacy. The park is well maintained. There are no reservations for this park but we had no trouble getting a site on a Monday afternoon in mid summer. Sand boat launch with room to park truck and trailer. No services at sites and no sani-dump but one is available in town. Drinking water but no showers. Nice overnight park.

This is one of the best campgrounds in BC. The sites and pit toilets are always clean. The site host ensures the noise bylaws are observed by all so this is a perfect place for families that want a quiet place to camp. We will definitely be back.

I would give 5 stars if there weren't so many yucky weeds in the water and if they had an area that was dog friendly. Warm lake, sandy beach, nice clean camp sites. I go every year!

Mr.T Bondy

Jennifer Prince

Lake is too crowded and trails are being worked on so they are bit great for walking your dogs.

A must go for most locals every summer. A small lake with a good beach and nice water. Hasn’t been overly crowded this year. Enough space to socially distance.

I would recommend checking it out. We had a great time, waters clean, good beach, the water is deep, definitely go back.

Rashelle Hole

Quite , peaceful , relaxing, quick access right after work . Stress release .

Josh Abrey (Neighbours-o-Cranbrook)

Great for the kids, not a bad spot considering how close it is but there are many prettier lakes in the area. If you like fishing for perch, come take as many of them out of this lake as you can, it's not uncommon to get 10 fish a night, right off the dock. Pro tip, don't dive off the dock, as there's about 5 or more feet of silt about 5 feet below the surface... Found that one out the hard way

I was very surprised to find this great place. It's a bit out of the way but worth it. There are many parrie dogs (I think that's what they are) that are so much fun to watch while enjoying the lake view. Even the ducks where friendly. Love these hidden gems.

Enjoyed a nice hike through the park. It is much nicer in summer but still a beautiful and peaceful place to come. Looking forward to when it opens for camping again.

(Translated) nice quiet campground at the Jim smith Lake Provincial park. If you buy a fishing license, you can fish for trout (Original) mooie rustige campground aan het Jim smith Lake Provincial park. Als je een visvergunning koopt dan kun je daar goed op forel vissen

This is a nice little local swim lake, not much for a beach but there are no boats. The water stays nice and cool on a hot day.

Bonnie Rowe

A lovely quiet park with great little swim lake. Friendly and helpful staff.

Deb Quirk

Jason Verhage

Great place close to town. This might not be the candidate beach around, but it is great for a quick dip when around Cranbrook. There is plenty of room to spread out on the grass for a picnic, and you get to enjoy the ground hogs. Swimming is quite nice, but when swimming out a bit, you can get into some seaweed. This is a great small lake for kayaking and paddle boards, and if your lucky you will be able to see some turtles and fish when on the dock.

Bradley Cairns

Nice place to take the family

Mike Payne

Quite an clean friendly peaple

Shea Smith

Beautiful Campground, family friendly beach, pretty good amount of parking.

GWoo

Nice and quiet in September. Campground at that time is nice and quiet, starting to get cold at night.

Adam Spyksma

Lake is pretty chilly but nice and refreshing. It's usually busy. The ducks and gophers that are all to bold and will come steal food when you aren't looking. I wish the lake was a little more sandy at the entrance as you usually jab your feet constantly while getting in.

A great little camp site with lots of hiking locally with a warm lake to swim. The beach is in disrepair as a retaining wall should be built as the sand has simply washed into the lake for the last 10 years. Watch your snacks as gophers will rob your bag.

Jeremy Overton

DANIAL RICE

Great place for recreation

Frank Crockett

Beautiful spot so close to Cranbrook. Nice campsites.

Clean and super quiet. Lake is nice but watch your step going to the beach. Some huge bad gopher holes. Picnic tables are usually open and the water front is very nice with lots of friendly ducks.

Boris Serebryansky

Perfect place for swimming, camping,kayaking.

Colton Begert

Easily accessible with parking close to the beach

Sarah Doerksen

Beautiful campsites. Not too close together. Lots of trees in between. No washrooms, only outhouses but they were reasonably clean, as far as outhouses go. Short walk to a nice lake. No real beach unfortunately. The bottom of the lake was rocky so bring water shoes. A little weedy but not too bad. Nice and warm as far as lakes go, or at least I found it no worse than an outdoor swimming pool. Overall I had a great time camping there and would go a second time.

It's an okay lake. The only things I hate about it are all the gophers, watch where you are walking cuz there are quite a few holes from the gophers. And I hate how windy it is there. Other than that I think it's a nice lake

It was beautiful. Small campground, but nice mostly private double plots. Lots of trees in-between you and the next campsite. Port on potties unfortunately, but hey, you're camping. What did you expect. No showers here either. But a big beautiful lake that's not too far a walk. Not too bad for weeds although no real beach to speak of. No motorboats allowed that I could see. Which makes it ideal for paddle boarding, swimming, and generally relaxing. Not sure on how the price rates against other campsites, but it seemed reasonable to me. Nice close drive to a nearby city as well in case you run out of supplies.
