I usually don't visit museums but was advised to see this one while in Courtenay and I do not regret. Many different pieces of history, starting with dinosaurs, through very First Nations to a modern world. Museum also provides some entertaining workshops for kids if you're interested.

Carl Anderson

Dinosaurs, and fossil collection is fantastic. Kids love it.

Robin Thorneycroft

A good little museum with more paleontology than I would expect in a smaller town. The Fossil tour was outstanding - enthusiastic, knowledgeable guide who share his love of the area, rocks and fossils. Perfect for our kids (7&8). We now have bags of rocks with fossils and fragments. Perfect summer road trip souvenir.

Liz Wootton

Good interpretation, and very interesting. This museum does a great job of exhibiting items that are particularly of local interest but with reference to the global significance. I love visiting and am very proud to recommend it to visitors from overseas.

David Turner

Great museum, helpful and friendly staff, and within walking distance of things downtown.

Raman Toor

I was surprised to see creatures fossils in this museum, such a old big tree trunk and nice collection of small tools used for excavation.

Very small but the kids enjoyed. Teen working was full of sass when my 5yr old nephew went upstairs to show his mom the Dino tails attached to him. There's only one way in/one way out. They're not exactly inconspicuous.

Don't miss this. Yes it is small but very well laid out and the staff are super knowledgeable. We lived in the Valley for over 10 year and did not know the Dinosaur history of our region.

Been here multiple times. They always have very nice and informative staff. They take the time to answer any questions. If they aren't 100%, they find someone that is. They also host Birthday Parties for kids, which are always a good time.

Worth for the check and easily spend 30mins to know the history and ancient ocean creatures. If you have children this place is must go … They don’t sell tickets only accept donations around $5

The old Post Office in Courtenay has been converted into a museum. The first floor has many dinosaur artifacts many of which were discovered locally on the island. The second floor features the history of Courtenay and Comox. Items on display from the turn of the century. My advice is make sure you take a couple hours to enjoy. Well worth the time. Admission is free and open for free donation.

Pay a visit to our local Museum. Contrary to popular belief Vancouver Island is not moving out to sink at sea. We are in fact slowly rising and moving towards the mainland, and this whole area has once been submerged under seawater, which is why the Museum sports a real big Elasmosaurus hanging from the ceiling - go check it out!

This museum is small but it is awesome! The displays are very well done and super informative. I learned a lot about zoology, geology and paleontology while visiting... (Translated) Nothing too much trouble. A little weak. It even has some interesting pieces but they are few and some parts are with the light burned which prevents a nice vision. (Original) Nada demais. Um pouco fraco. Até tem algumas peças interessantes mas são poucas e algumas partes estão com a luz queimada o que impede uma visão bacana.

Jana Holbrook

The museum is focused on fossils found in the Comox Valley region and Nanaimo and Campbell River, and on the first floor one learn more about Comox region itself. The entrance is donation based.

This museum is a gem. We did arts and crafts the exhibits were well carried out. We went during a birthday party for a dinosaur exhibit there was also cake, music, and face painting. My only criticism is while we were there the activities were not led but monitored.

Elizabeth Marsh

Small but packed museum. Some really cool fossils.

thom williamson

Came here for a 80 000 031st birthday party. It was awesome.

Very cool museum! It gives you a great experience as to what life on the island was like millions of years ago. Lots of cool fossils of course, but also a lot of really interesting Native and turn of the century displays as well. Great way to learn some history. I'd say a full walk through would take about an hour, hour and a half. Price is by donation.

Loved it

Jennifer Holstein

This museum blew away my expectations for a small town attraction. The paleontology exhibits were shockingly good with just the right amount of do-it-yourself aesthetic (the quirky paper mache pterodactyl). The local history including First Nations was well represented and accessible.

Shayla Roos

Travis Gingerich

For a small-ish town, this museum was great! Really up on the paleontology, although the rest of the museum was a bit bland. Also, the African lungfish was an interesting addition, but didn't add all that much. Hard not to feel sad for the big guy in his little tank.
