I went on a day that was not busy. There were 2 or 3 other families in front of us and 1 other behind. The ferris wheel cabins were empty. I was really looking forward to this ride until we got on. The staff packed the whole line into 3 cabins and we only went around twice. I don't see why they couldn't space us out so we could enjoy the ride with our families and not with the company of strangers since they had so many empty cabins. Otherwise, the cabins were clean and air conditioned. For the price, I would not recommend it. There are plenty of free ways to get a great view of the city while not packed like sardines with strangers

Absolutely beautiful. The colors spinning give you a hypnotizing feeling. I love it especially during freezing weather because you can see the Ferris wheel reflection on the ice. It’s a landmark in Montreal so it’s a must see if you are visiting. The street level view is fabulous. It doesn’t make it to 5 stars because it isn’t always available to ride, when it is it is a bit expensive. Parking is complicated around old port so plan ahead of time if you’d like to visit it. And the experience could be nicer if the skies are clear so you can see the whole city. Bunch of dinning options around, great place to explore on foot. I was trying to catch the sunset but unfortunately the ticket office was too slow - only one window open for nearly 20-people-lineup . Buying tickets online could be a fast way to get in, but MTL passport holders have to go to ticket office.

Super smooth and the cabins have air conditioning for hot summer days. Make sure to get your tickets online (takes 5minutes) instead of queuing in line for so long once you’re there and waste time. You do not have to prebook any particular time slot in advance. You just use your e-ticket once you reach. Also, They are sanitizing each cabin before you hop in. ???????? Enjoy the ride! ????

Awful customer service, I was there with my friend yesterday, bought tickets for 2, we were their only customer at the time they saw both of us with my teacup Yorkie (2 pounds she is) , she sold us tickets, the guy who was checking tickets stared at us going to washroom, buying tickets, on our way up he told us we can’t bring the puppy with us and showed us a tiny little sign under garbage can for no dogs! We asked for refund they said it’s not refundable since it’s scanned, worst of all he started talking about me in French with the other associate wondering I don’t understand French! Very rude! I asked for their manager she came and said the same also very rude and when I told her I’ll write a review she was pulling shoulders up meaning that its not important to her , handing me her manager card! She didn’t refund the ticket we bought 10 minutes earlier and they didn’t let us in and she wished me a great day!!! Honestly so surprised with such service, never been talked Lim this when buying a service before!

Went on a weekday afternoon, it wasn’t busy and we had a gondola to ourselves. Ride was about 20 minutes (3 rounds). The view was okay but the higher buildings were further away and were harder to see from certain seats.

This permanent ferris wheel at the Old Port is fairly new to Montreal and I decided to give it a try during my recent visit. It costs $25 for a 20 minute ride. You sit in an enclosed pod with glass walls (you can also control the temperature inside and it has heat and air conditioning) and comfortable seating. The ride was smooth and slow and went around five or six times, which allowed the opportunity to take good photos and was plenty of time. It also stopped at the top a few times so you could enjoy the views. The views from the ferris wheel were incredible and I could see the whole city, St. Lawrence River and mountain range in the distance. It was amazing! I usually don’t enjoy heights but I felt very safe on this ferris wheel. There was a button inside the pod that you could press to speak with a staff member if there was an emergency and you needed to get off. The staff were very friendly also. They have a café and ice cream bar that you have to walk through after exiting the ferris wheel. I thought the price was a little expensive. I had a good experience though and would like to try it again sometime during the evening to see the city lights. It’s definitely more of a one-time experience than something you would do often but it was worth it as a visitor to Montreal and I would recommend.

I was very skeptical of this structure and the pricing of this experience. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the experience. It cost about $28 for an adult. I wouldn’t recommend going on this ride on a windy night, as we did. My friend was really uncomfortable with it and the wind did cause the car to rock at the top. However we were able to communicate with staff at all times and it was perfectly safe. Overall, a really interesting experience. Go at night as I did because you will see the entire city lit up.

Cool Ferris wheel with air-conditioned cabins and nice views of the city. Judging from other reviews, the number of revolutions you get for your fare seems to vary wildly--we got a lot; I kept expecting them to kick us off but the wheel just kept going for quite a while. And we had the cabin to ourselves, though that was probably because it wasn't very busy.

The four stars is not for the experience but the way it's built and maintained. Nothing to complain about the infrastructure. But I do have a complain about the ticket counter. Out of the three counters, it's positioned in such a way that the customers can't really see if the ticket vending staff is inside. The lady sitting on the right most seat was enjoying her free time not even bothering to invite the next in line customer for a ticket purchase. When I went there identifying that she was free, the very first question she asked was "what do you want". Do they sell cappuccino there or just tickets, all she had to do was to assist us in purchasing the tickets. We were a family of three and bought 2 adults and a kids ticket which was ~70. She DENIED giving the family ticket which was selling for 62 stating that we don't have the 4th kid with us. But is that her problem? The $8 difference is not gonna help me buy a car, but it's all about the customer service standards. I didn't want to ruin our vacation and just proceeded buying the suggested ticket. Every other staff were super courteous and SMILING. Don't let few unfriendly staff like this to ruin your reputation. The next big question is, is it worth a visit- for the hefty price charged, it's totally personal choice, try to visit at night so that you get a beautiful view of the night sky.

Excellent Montreal attraction! It is a very good idea to purchase tickets online as the ticket line on-site gets quite long, especially in the evening. The attraction line was about 1 hour long on a Saturday night (August 2021). Photo worthy views of Montreal from the top! There were 3 full rotations. A/C in each cabin was great as it was a very hot night. A great evening attraction!

So I have been to three view point of the city. 1. Ferris wheel at the port of an old city 2. Observatory 360 in the city centre 3. Mont royal park I can say that observatory give you the biggest angle of view (360), so you can see everything in any direction possible. You can see Olympic stadium, old port, almost everything. So it is worth visiting. 2. Mont royal park view point is mainly facing city centre, but you can also view some other parts of the city, so it is not as good as observatory, but it is definitely worth visiting 3. From ferris wheel you can't see much because of the skyscrapers, so it is not really worth it.

We bought the VIP ticket and it was really great. It was a very nice gondola and we had a great time. Until we got trapped. The ride was supposed to last 30 minutes or so, but we realized that we were in there for about forty minutes. We tried to signal the woman at the bottom the ride but couldn’t. We tried to call the main office but to no avail. We were trapped for over an hour before we got a call back and were let off the ride. No one said a word to us it was like nothing ever happened. Great attraction! Be sure to buy your tickets online as the line to purchase tickets will get long throughout the night. There are no reserved timings, but the line does move fairly quickly. The view on top is breathtaking! There were about 2-3 revolutions which is nice to take in different sights each time.

This is an excellent attraction for tourists and families, specially at night. The wait in the line could last a bit, but you can enjoy the place while waiting for your turn for the ride. Once you are in, it is a beautiful experience, pods are equipped with very comfortable seats, air conditioned and emergency button, the Old Port and the city can be seen as nowhere else in Montreal. Scenery is mesmerizing! If you are lucky enough you can also watch the Saint Jaques bridge illuminated at night. If you are in the mood of taking a walk before or after the ride, there are several spots to enjoy the whole experience of the Old Port of Montreal, it is one of the safest places in the city, any time, any season. If you enjoy photography like I do, you will enjoy a great experience!

Not being a tourist, I didn’t think I’d enjoy this as much as I did. Although this is a tourist trap, it is a nice experience. I do think that it is overpriced and I wish the cabin glass had been cleaner, but overall it is something everyone in the area should try once.

I was just walking around with my girl friend when we saw the Ferris wheel. It's a bit expensive ($20 per person pretty much) but you get to go around 3 times (about 30 mins total) had a lot of fun. I recommend going when the sun is high in the sky though, otherwise the entire city looks dark.

Montréal Old Port is not only a place of historical significance but is also very picturesque. Building with old architecture coupled with some of the best options to eat food and the whole vibe makes you feel as if you are in a European suburb. Just the walk along the St Lawrence River is such a relaxing experience in itself. Love love the place. A must visit place :)

If there’s a place you want to visit at night is this spot. The views of the river, bridges, city and port are stunning. This is so magical. We took some amazing pictures here and also had some coffee. A bit cold but well worth the view.

Excellent experience and a must do if you are visiting Montreal. Almost got three rotations and really enjoyed it. A bit pricy but the family package for 2 adults+2 kids is bit ease on total price. Awful and pathetic staff at the wheel who allocate the cabin though!

The ride is approximately 20 minutes long, and some may think it's a bit pricey ($17/adult). The cabins can seat up to 8 people and give you a 360 view of the city. If you are less than 6, they will seat more people with you (i.e. if you plan on proposing or anything romantic, you'll have strangers to "support" you, unless you ask to have a private cabin). I suggest to go during sunset - the view is quite spectacular. Overall, it's a different and interesting experience the Old Port has to offer. Having done it once, I don't expect to go back anytime soon, but perhaps again with my outoftowners friends or family.

What a great experience! We had family visiting from Greece and decided to take them to la Grande Roue and we had a blast! We got the family package and within 5 minutes we were in our own cabin! We loved every second! We went around 3 times and loved that the wheel stopped at the top for a few minutes to take in the view! Added bonus was that there was AC in the cabin too... We went during the day, I can’t imagine how beautiful the experience would be at night with the lights! Next time! I would definitely go back, it’s a great Montreal attraction!

Definitely a tourist trap... I'll admit I fell for it, save your money and go spend it on some art from the stalls just down the street at Place Jaques-Cartier. Great views of the city in a climate controlled, completely enclosed car. I thought it was going to be a claustrophobic experience but it wasn’t. We had 3 complete rotations at a slow speed with stops at the top at least 2-3x. Staff was friendly.

A vey tourist thing to do but still worth it. As a local I knew I had to embark at one point, just thought it was a little pricy at $18 to $23 per ticket but if you are visiting Montreal (or even local) be sure to check out the combo deals with the SOS Labyrinth, pédalo (pedal boat), Voiles en Voiles, quadricycle and others. This makes it well worth it and the ride has nice views and is relaxing. Sure it may not be as high as others but it runs all winter.

Too expensive for a 2 go round ferris wheel. Airconditied cabin like closed in. We were 4 people and fit comfortably inside. You can adjust the air conditioner once inside. Nice view of the area. Went after dark in -10 weather like a nut job but there was no line and the view was absolutely stunning. It is timed so you go around about 3 times. It's not fast so you can relax and enjoy the scenery. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for the locals. At the base is a cafe with hot drinks and a fire place with seats.

Super nice and calm at night! Don't put your ticket away after the first time you get scanned, they rescan it as you're about to get on. If it's busy, you can expect to share a cabin if you're fewer people in the group, but as it was pretty quiet, we got a cabin to ourselves. Super lovely and definitely would recommend! Here is a better option for a nice view in the old port : if you are in Spring/summer time, go to the William Gray's rooftop terrasse, you'll get an amazing view + have drinks and food with that, for the same price. A stellar ride to be had in the climate control pods with stunning views of Vieux Port Montréal with the sloping city landscape dotted with commerce towers and cathédrale toppings on one side then the eloquent St Lawrence River as it flows through the cities landscape. Great attraction. HOWEVER, the cafe had one of the best hot chocolates. They changed the recipe and I can confidently say this is now one of the worst hot chocolates. If I’m paying $5 for a hot chocolate, don’t give me watered down hot chocolate. So sad, I came all the way here for the hot chocolate. Wow.

it's worth the money for once, just to have the experience, but it's not something I'd do twice. We were crammed into a cabin with a couple and three noisy kids who did nothing but scream and jump all the time, going from one side to the other. The views are nice, particularly on the river's side. The ride was 20 minutes, and we were ready to leave after 10. Before stepping into the cabin we asked whether it'd be possible to go in a different one and the employees starkly said "No", even when she had seen the kids behaviour while queuing up for the cabin, and there were not that many people in the line at the time and other cabins were available. The cabins are comfortable, have A/C and have big windows so one will not miss anything, but the customer service is not precisely the best. Would I recomend it ?..my answer would be most likely "No" (the same answer I received from the employee). Probably the best spot to see Montreal, all of it, from above is the top of Place Ville Marie, where one can walk around freely without being subjected to annoying people and at least there is plenty of space to walk away if that is the case. So in my opinion is rather a tourist trap, for tourists who visit Montreal, not for locals like me, who are already familiar with the city and the aerial views

I've been on a few of these giant wheels now and I can say that the experience does not diminish as I continue to go on them! This one was a great ride. The staff took the time to wash down the carts between use which is an absolutely appreciated action during these COVID times. The view is stunning of the St. Lawrence and the rapids and you can even watch the jet boat tank there while on the rides. Reasonable price for a long ride on this one - I believe we went around 4 times!

It's basically a view of nothing. If you look north, there are office buildings in the way and you can't really see more than two blocks in the city. If you look south, you're just looking at water and an abandoned Canada Fair dome...really depressing. The reality is that you are simply not high enough to get much a view. A great Ferris wheel experience, the line wasn’t too long so we only waited 10 minutes. Once inside the Ferris wheel you get to go around multiple times so you don’t miss a view. The inside also has controllable air conditioning for your comfort. Since I visited in covid I noticed the interior was sanitized after each group.

There is no ventilation for 20minutes on this ride. I am typing this while in the ride. Ridiculous! Even the staff doesn’t know what’s going on. Thank god we are off this sauna! Thanks for your response. I will email the given address soon. After the first round, we were all getting agitated in the ride because we felt suffocated. We tried to press the touch screen to activate cooling, but nothing happened. When we came down we tried to find some staff to let them know we are unable to breath but no one was looking and spent the next 2 rounds just waiting for the ride to get over. A little bit more and we would have pressed the emergency button.

Typical ferris wheel for large city. But this one was clean and in good shape. The cars are climate controlled and almost all do NOT have a glass bottom. The ride takes you about 3-4 turns around 20 minutes. What stands out from others is that you will not feel you are being lifted or dropped like other wheels. Its tall enough that you great pictures from the surrounding city scape. Its a bit pricey than most but worth it.

A must visit place when in Montreal. Especially at night, the place is filled with people and food trucks. It’s a fun place to bring the whole family. For tourists, it’s place for Instagram picture taken to show to your friends and family back home. Along the river bank, there are many bike rental racks where you can just rent a bike for a small cost and ride along the the bike path to see all the beautiful night scenes of Montreal. Additionally, there are many restaurants around this area too if you don’t like the trunk foods. There are all ethnic foods including French, Greek, Asian and Mediterranean. In the morning, you can get some good croissants and pastries in Old Montreal just couple blocks from here. We had good breakfast here.

Better than we expected. Quebecers get a discount with ID. I thought that it was kind of expensive for the price but the ride lasted a while and it was heated. It was nice to go up there while the skating rink was full and it gave us something to do. They didn't even make us share a cabin with other people.

I was extremely excited when I heard a Big Wheel was being built in the Old Port. I can’t beleive it took me a year to actually try it out! WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! We tried the VIP booth that has a plexiglass floor and comfy “car” seats! Wow! My mom is scared of heights and after the first go around, she was enjoying the view - and what a view it is! The view from the top is simply stunning - it made me love Montreal even more! A must do!

As a family with kids, we had such a great time on the Grande Roue. We were sad to realize that the whole experience only last 20 minutes for the exorbitant price you pay. What really gave it a sour taste is when we learned that the family picture that the staff insisted we take before getting inside the wheel had been printed out and was waiting for us to pay for it to take it home. We never wanted our picture taken, printed without permission and then destroyed (according to staff) because we didn't want to pay a ridiculous amount for 1 simple picture. Please think about the environment and the waste you are creating. There were other dozens of families who didnt collect their pictures. It's a shame. Perhaps giving the option to take a picture or not would prevent this. We weren't asked, mostly opposed before the ride which made us assume the picture was free.

Nice ferris wheel. Amazing views. I was also lucky enough to get on while there were fireworks going on so it was pretty awesome. The line up moves quick. The price per person is expensive. However, it's a ferris wheel in a city and it's the largest ferris wheel in Canada (I think) so I didnt expect it to be cheap. What I didnt like was the amount of spiders on the structures that you can see when you look out of the ferris wheel. It's pretty scary for people like me who are terrified of spiders and being that high up...you will feel trapped. They need to clean the parts that people can see when they look out to try and prevent bugs and spiders (I also understand that this isn't something that can be prevented 100%).

Bought the groupon (2 adults and 2 kids) but because we didn’t have kids we couldn’t use it?? This makes zero sense to me! That’s like buying a coupon for 4 ice creams but only requesting 2? We were asking for less service than the groupon. For the $12 extra dollars I do not understand why the manager couldn’t make an exception once (we traveled from Nova Scotia and was really looking forward to the ride) very disappointing! The ride was completely empty, it’s was a cold and stormy night in January! You would think for customer service you would be able to make an exception!! So very rude! Normally I would pay the extra $12 for something I really wanted to do, but like I said the manager was just too rude I couldn’t bring myself to pay for new tickets. Would not recommend!!!

Arrived at 10pm only to be turned away from going on the ferris wheel when they close at 11pm. Paid $25 in parking which was a waste. Had to come back the next day while it was raining.
