Turn your camping experience into a learning adventure that’s fun for both avid birders and families alike at one of North America’s only campgrounds located in the heart of a bird sanctuary. Established in 1961, the nature reserve features 69 campsites and five group campgrounds, including the recent additon of 10 50 amp serviced campsites, a Visitor Interpretive Centre with displays and themed merchandise, 8 kilometers of self-guided hiking trails and, of course, abundant wildlife with over 150 different bird species. The Sanctuary’s Morrison Island offers some of the best carp fishing in the world with anglers coming in on chartered excursions from around the globe

Good place to escape the insanity of society. Just split paths with the noisy people with dogs and kids, and take a trail they’re not taking.

Special place, one of the few venues within the Parks of the St Lawrence free from plastic gargbage and litter along the shore line.

(Translated) Really a beautiful site, with beautiful big trees. The grounds are grassed, the services are super clean. The general atmosphere is calm and we will be returning. If you have bikes there are some great routes for you. Also the pitches are big, we are not all on top of each other.

Great place for family outings, and some trails for your fur baby. Well maintained trails that is mostly covered with wood chips and it makes a nicer walk. With some facilities available like a bbq spot with a porta John. Also enjoyed a photo shoot with lots of texture and colors for fall pictures. There is also a camping option and spots available for your r.v.???? If your looking to feed some birds they have a shop were you can bye some bird food and some memorabilia. Put your hand out with a hand full of bird food and they will come, even the chipmunks will enjoy the treats. The kids love this activity.

This is the place where chickadees will feed off your bare hand. Bring your own birdseed. Great place to take the family out for a hike on forest trails. Plenty of parking. Picnic tables. Trails are mapped out along the way.

Michelle Small

We have now stayed their twice camping was amazing spots and the wildlife is worth it .. will be going back for sure

Who would have thought feeding birds was so much fun? Love the trails and sights, the fresh air, and the company :-)

Kayiah S

Superb place for short hikes in the forest or marshlands.

Great camping on this small island. Like the grass underfoot and tall trees with long boughs for shade. Clean, no highway traffic sound and lots of birds around. Have never seen a raccoon only skunks.

Samara Crawford

Nice place for outdoor activity. Bring seed and you can get the birds to land on your hands.

This place looks like it might have been great 30 years ago, but it was a huge disappointment. The trails are a series of dead ends, mud holes, overgrown tracks that offer nothing but bush and only one boardwalk is still in use, though it is nice. The others are rotting away and off-limits. The person in the "interpretation centre" was confused when we asked about the best spot to see birds, like it was unusual to ask that at a place called a bird sanctuary. You are better off skipping the sanctuary and walking down to the campsite area (which is technically reserved for campers only) closer to the river. There were cormorants, Canada geese, Ospreys and some turtles. The meadow had wax wings and king birds and other standard backyard birds. This is really just a campsite now it seems, and in no way worth driving to visit unless you live in the immediate area, and even then, just maybe. I realize that the time of year will dictate which birds you are likely to see, but given the lack of trails and open areas, I can't imagine there is ever a lot.

It's a nice place to go. We went through different short trails .. very peaceful beautiful trails..however in the month of September you don't get to see many birds. At the entrance to the trails there is a small shop with souvenirs and ice drinks like freezies or ice cream. Good to visit once . This location is about 12 km from Morrisburg and few kms away from many campgrounds

This used to be our favorite camping spot. Now they are adding cottages and tree houses! Sounds nice but they choose to worst locations. Basically they split camp sites in two to fit them. For the tree houses, they are building them right above existing camp sites. These camp sites are now ruined, no privacy, cramped. Other sites around will be deprived of their (used to be) nice views.

A wonderful place to.visit!!!

A lot of trails and in closure/dead ends. Would be helpful if a sign is posted at the beginning of these trails. Not much to see.

I really like this campground especially for its proximity to Upper Canada Village but also because of its very comfortable unserviced sites and great hiking trails.

Great park walk, good for young kids. Little bit muddy but not bad (September) if you bring a stroller it needs to be a jogger/ large wheel type.

jacqueline merrill

Lots for birding and photos op

A perfect place to spend time with your friends and to feel free.

Lovely way to spend a morning or afternoon walking several trails and seeing nature's beauty all around! Great place to take photos and enjoy a relaxing get away from this busy world of ours!

A gem. Gone with the lads for an Ocktoberfest hike and convinced them to check out the Stormont Dundas Ingleside area since we had camped a lot at the St Lawrence Parks over the summer. There were a lot of nice nooks and crannies to explore including a neat tree hike and nice boardwalks. One path is closed in need of repair for which I would gladly donate to. The shop was closed but a good interpretation centre in the summer. Flat and accessible there is a picnic spot and indoor washrooms which along with the shop were closed for the year.

Went there with my son to feed them birds. It was amazing! Chickadees landed right in our hands to feed. I'm definitely going back when it's warmer! They also fed deer just before the parking lot. We pulled over and looked at it for a moment. What a beautiful doe!

(Translated) Very nice campsite. (Original) Très beau camping.

Great place to see nature on a walk

Mark Asselstine

We had a great site right next to the beach, so great views. The bathrooms were clean and adequate showers available. The sites are definitely more suited to camp trailers and vans than tent camping however. Not many trees and a bit too open for my tastes. The cycling paths are great but the boardwalks and other bird watching trails are in need of work. Overall very similar to other camping grounds north and south of the Saint Laurence river such as the state parks near A bay.

(Translated) Wonderful place to take a walk. Mixture of marsh and woodland. Bike path and in winter you can snowshoe. (Original) Magnifique endroit pour prendre une marche. Mélange de marais et boisé. Piste cyclable et l'hiver on peut faire de la raquette.

The back half of the park is closed, as is the general store, and no bathrooms. There is an "inner" trail near the store and parking lot, and a "waterfront" trail that is part of a long greenway in the region, which I visited: There is a Savannah-like field with swallows, that gives way to forest, that in turn gives way to a lake. Large variety of birds. Pack food and water and dress appropriately--you can spend a long time walking in sun or just heat.

Christine Cuillerier

Beautiful place, lots of wild life beautiful water front

Mandy Pethick

The park is lovely, with access to the waterfront trail and lots of birds to see, but there is no enforcement for poor behaviour by campers. Unlike some park systems, there is no way to contact someone, like a security guard, if people are drunk and noisy until after 2:00am, which is what happened to us. Complaining the day after doesn't solve the problem at the time, which is more aggravating if you have plans to get an early start the next day to enjoy everything the park has to offer. In the future, we will only camp at parks that have a system in place to address this, even if it means going out of province for our vacation.

Great quiet place to relax

This is a popular destination. It has four marked trails, but one of them (Heron) is mostly closed, and the boardwalk on the north loop of Cedar trail is closed. Maintenance is ongoing. The environment varies from open marsh to dense cedar forest. There's a fair amount of wildlife, including (not surprisingly) birds, and we saw fresh deer tracks. There's a good staffed visitor centre with washrooms, and an outhouse about half way through (on maple trail).

They are closed, presumably because of Covid, but this is not apparent from their site. A very frustrating and disappointing out-of-the-way drive :-(
