This Tourist Attraction is classified in the category of Amusement park.
Rides and the waterpark are fun. Some other sections of the park such as the "Great Adventure" attraction have fallen into disrepair and are in dire need of maintenance. Worst part about the park has to be the mixing of water slides and a petting zoo. Animals carry parasites, and children don't wash their hands, which leads to an unfortunate few contracting said parasites after the children go from the petting zoo to the water slides. Was bedridden for a week. Until the petting zoo is removed... would return for the rides, not for the slides.
Bigger than it seems, look out for the alien crash landing.
Well everything is new with covid, and weird but that's our new way of living. There isn't much things for kids 4 and under, and the only thing they can't really do unassisted is the splash pad and the water is freezing! The younger workers I found were mute. They didn't speak to us AT ALL, getting lifejackets for pedal boats and stuff and even with the kids saying "thank you" after we'd get not a single response. Now there's an older guy who runs the merry go round and that man is the sweetest person at the park- he interacts with the kids, talks and makes you feel welcomed.
A great little attraction lots to do for all ages. The tandem tube waterslide is the best way to go. There is a beavertails cafe on site and a coffee shop as well as a shaved ice cafe and a candy store near the entrance.
A great way to spend a day or more. We bought the bracelet and came and went as we pleased. Alternated between the rides and the waterpark features over the times we went.
The kids loved it!!! A whole day of fun for the whole family
I took my 4-year-old this week and she had a blast (the adults did too!). It's not a major theme park by any stretch of the imagination, but for smaller kids it's a lot of fun. The staff are really nice and helpful, and the COVID-19 measures seem well thought out. Now is definitely the time to go too. I feel bad for the operators, but as a guest it's great; the restrictions on numbers means no waiting in lines.
Was there Aug 7th 2021, was very impressed with the staff, young people taking safety seriously! Safety checks done everytime before starting the rides...on a hot day, they didn't slack! Life guards ensuring children are safe around the water. Well done!
While the kids had fun, it was understaffed and not all rides/slides were open. Supervision on the toddler slides was nonexistent, on toddler was consistently running in front of others. And sliding into people. Staff at the beeavertails place tried to shortchange 2/3 of the beavertails then acted like it was a burden to make them make the ordered amount. This will definitely be a place we come once a year when family comes to visit instead of a fun family day multiple times over.
Expensive, but what isn't today. It's a great family park, tons of stuff to do. If you go for the day pack food because they really don't have many options in place for take away. Kids had a blast, we had a blast with our kids! Grwat memories!
Maybe due to covid but several attractions were out of service but price was still the same. Patking lot maybe had 100 cars at most and there were still lineups fir rhe big slides. Cant imagine what it would be like if it was busy. Kids will love it. Some slides and kiddie rides sums it up.But grandparents who arent going on any attractions still pay $27 to walk around.
Staff and people are awesome. My rating isn't about the people who works there at all. Everyone was smiling and helpfull. But for the price and the park itself, I do not recommend. There was only 4 slides for water attraction?and yes a rollercoaster and some rides but for a water park, it wasn't much of one. We were there 4 hours and had the chance to go on a double tube slide 3 times( which are 2 of the 4 slides). The the cost is similar to magic mountain which has a wave pool , lazy rivers and more than 7 slides I think. But nonetheless, we spend the remaining of the day at the pool at our motel after 4 hours at shinning water because the girls wanted to leave. The walk from the parking to the water park is so long , it makes you wonder why all that property is wasted with dirty ponds? They have the place to build more slides and water attraction and be a potential real water park?!. We will go again to PEI for sure, we did still have a great time:). Enjoy your vacation all!
A lot of fun for the family, I was so impressed to see favourite features of the former rainbow valley had been retained for the new park!
Lovely place. Lots of fun for everyone
Great place for younger kids, wish more attractions had of been open, very clean, and we'll kept.
Unfortunately a lot of attractions werent open. Mirror maze, rope bridge, car ride, storybook castle all closed. The pool is ankle deep so not really a pool more like a splash pad. The name is a misnomer there is no lake or pool to swim in. No rocket or anything in that neck of the woods that os OPEN. We traveled two provinces over to come here and it's not worth the money. Why charge $23 for a 5 year old and a 6 year old when they cant even go on all the rides and a fourth of the atgractions are closed? Very disappointed.
Fun time. But will be our last visit. Time for MFG to add some new slides and attractions. Place has loads of potential but management is not seizing it.
Definitely a must for anyone one with children vacationing on the island. Prices are a little high but the kids will have a great time either way.
It was great! Kids had a ball.
Awesome place for kids but honestly, there is nothing for adults. At least build a new pool please! It's not a big deal in terms of investment, but definitely will make me come again...
Great fun! Good covid measures in place as well. Spend the whole day to get your money's worth.
My 4 year old did laps on the splash pad waterslides for hours!
We had a great time!
The park is good for little kids or big kids on the water slides. They need more rides and a good cleaning on some of the older attractions (they are getting very run down). One of their newest rides only worked once of the 5 days we were there. It is only worth going if part of the ride and slide package.
The kids enjoyed it to a point. We got there as soon as soon as it opened so the waiting times weren't that long and you could actually swim in the pool. But once it got really crowded, wait times for the slides was a bit ridiculous, that even the kids gave up waiting. They still had a blast though!
Great! Line ups for the slides weren't long! Was a great day.
A great park, definitely worth the entrance fee. My 6 and 8 year old kids had a blast. The weather was a big factor too, hot and sunny.
Lots of fun for the family. Would give 5 stars, but some parts of the park are in serious need of maintenance. It was the same when we were there 2 years ago pre-covid. They have had a year with fewer visitors and could have taken the time to replace rotten deck boards and to make sure all nails are hammered in. Some of the issues should make them fail a basic safety inspection.
Great place to take young children, but has things for the whole family to enjoy including waterslides. Recommend buying tickets online for a discount!
its a great place for family and kids but does tend to get crowded after about 1:00 pm my advice it to go early in the morning for the best waterslide experience.
Even with covid-19 this place was still a blast. The lines are a little shorter. You need masks for the rides. But you can bring food in. There are in and out privileges. And the pool is very refreshing. FYI: of you're swimming you can't have a swim mask, only goggles.
We got here early and spent the lion's share of the day here, split between exploring the park and rides/attractions and the water park. We loved the body slides and tube slides - highly recommended
Great place for young kids, not too many rides or slides, but fun. The swamp shack needs repairs. Only got pics of the rides, forgot the slides.
Had such a fun time here! Excellent value for your money and plenty to keep kids (and adults) of all ages busy and happy! Pro tip - arrive before noon to avoid line ups for the water attractions!
Had an amazing day with our 5 month old there was so much even for him to do
My 7 year old and 2 year old loved this place. Always a must visit on our summer trip to pei
This place is awesome and very family friendly!! We had a great time and my kids ended up tired, but very happy. They want to go back every year when we visit PEI again. The only criticism I would have is that the place was extremely crowded and the lines to go in the main attractions or into their big swimming pool were just too long or the pool was extremely crowded. But staff was friendly, and the park's layout was great. Pretty cool place. We liked it very much
Don't listen to all the naysayers in these reviews. This place is great. Yes some rides are closed, we are in the middle of a pandemic, if they even do have replacements on order they would be backed up. This was well worth the money. Kids present for the day with our group were 13, 12, 7, and 5. The 13 and 12 year old kept busy and happy for 5 hours, the younger ones open to close. The staff were so friendly and POLITE. The park grounds are kept really clean, as I saw staff walking from ride to ride changing posts they were picking up any trash they saw. We will be back for sure.
Good variety of attractions for the size. Good multiple site pass options for those staying in the area for several days with a family.
Fun place for young kids. There is a shallow splash-pad kind of place for little kids where the depth is 12" or less. The lineups for slides are long, but the slides are super fun when you get to them. I would pack a lunch next time unless you like $8 hotdogs and Beavertails. We spent 6 hours there and got our money's worth for sure. Lots to see and do.
It was small my children are use to Canada’s Wonderland. The two can not be compared with each other. It's works for a small town
Something to do if you need it. Seemed a little steep in pricing for what they have. Water park?... I've been to hotels with more slides.... the kids enjoyed it.
Shining waters is a new start to an old park. The entrance is right next to the exit, which is easy to miss. You drive down a lane beside some cottages to reach the parking lot. The parking lot is spacious and nicely layed out. There is a lot of Green space right after the entrance where it would be nice and quiet for a picnic. The park is sectioned off into a few different themes. The water slides are definitely the main attraction, but there is more to this park. The storybook land is a cute walk in the forest that has some characters and different items to see. I recommend this area for littles. Bandits barnyard is a barn and pen with live animals and a little interactive area. Again, cute but recommended for littles. There are amusement park rides scattered here and there like a carousel, little cars and boats, spinning pumpkins, a couple rollercoasters, walk-through fun houses, and a submarine that goes around in a virtical circle. Discovery woods is another walking area in the woods with places to walk through and places to see. Definitely recommended for young teens and older kids. Buccaneer bay is awesome, a fast rollercoaster that doesn't seem like much at first. 2 walk through pirate ships, for little kids. And paddle pirate ships that were great for the family. Lighthouse on the warf is just plain paddle boats but it looks like there is more coming. Our 4yr and 18mth liked the park alot and I know us adults also had good fun. I recommend this park for everyone depending on what you are into. Just be wary the price for adults is high for the amount of activities there are and I can see this park adding more items in the future.
4 water slides (2 slides with tubes) splash pad and pool. A lot of time is needed to get tube and then again to stay in the line with the tube to slide. Children should be very patient. Other facilities are included to the price: rides, little pet zoo, little trail. Big territory, more can be added to the park.
Lines ups are sometimes longer than normal but all in all a great spot to kill a day.
An absolute must do. Love this place.
Was a great time for the money it cost. We had are our grandkids there and had a great time
Good to cool down, but don't expect to stay or pay for all day. Best suited for young chidren. Liked that they had a large covered kennel in a shaded area for dogs. Bring a cooler on wheels, snacks, stroller, lots of water. Restaurant wasn't great; expensive and the smallest amont of fries I have seen anywhere. Good hot dogs and chicken strips.
Great for older kids not much for the toddlers. Nice and clean. Lots of walking around.
If you like water parks with 4 slides and a roller coaster, this is one.
What an absolute blast! Incredible experience for my first trip there! Will be back, 100% and highly recommended ???? ????
This was a great day for our 7.5, 5, and 2.5 year olds. Our 2.5 year old was over 36" so we ended up having to pay for him but it was totally worth it because he got to do so much more. We had purchased our tickets online and just added his on after he was measured. I would recommend doing the same if you aren't sure about whether they are under 36" (free) or above 36". If you purchase a ticket and they end up being below 36" I'm not sure that you would get a refund. The little kid area (under 10 I would say, and only if there's a little sibling) was great! Also, the rides my 2.5 year old couldn't go on were always right near rides or activities that he could do, which was convenient and helpful! Cons: Lunch took FOREVER (hot dog, fries, nuggets) - over 30 min - even though it isn't a sit-down restaurant. Our two older kids could have gone on the bigger waterslides but there was a line just to get a tube, let alone for the slide itself.
The staff is great the park is awesome the food absolutely sucks IIT was awful
Outstanding! A ton of fun!
We have a great time with family and friends every year at Shining Waters. It's a highlight of summer for our kids on PEI. We pack a picnic lunch and stay for the day.
Didnt like having to purchase in advance with no possibility of regund as only had one very cold day. Food ecpensive but overall well worth yhe money. great pool stsff
Some rides and slides not running, despite them running last year when we went so not sure what the reasoning is there. But besides that there is still plenty to do, it kept us and our 3 year old daughter going for 3 hours straight! She had a blast.
Was always fun as a kid but driving past it now I can see it’s sorting to get outdated and sort of dilapidated. Could use a few new attractions and some tlc. Still worth a visit though
I had so much fun can’t wait to go again.
Great place to spend the day with your children
