If you are looking for trails and hikes good place to visit. The tower though is the only picturesque spot apart from greenary around. Adjacent to the tower is a long hiking trial. There is nothing else apart from the tower if you don't …

Interesting historical site. Not much more to say about it.

Orblocator L

Icy flat. River view was nice.

Tonia Walker

This is a really pretty and historic landmark with great access trails for walking. Follow the trails to see a little more history of some of the first settlers barns and stables. Great look out over the Eagle Sanctuary close by as well.

George

A beautiful spot overlooking the Grand River.

Dan Clarke

Neat little gem. Extensive trails along the river exiting both sides of the park. Tower is locked. You must consult with the national park on Wellington Rd. in order to have it opened for groups. The short lifespans displayed on the pioneer graves are a sobering reminder of the sacrifices of our forefathers.

Adrian Cesinaro

Cool.

Keifer

Very nice spot for a walk beside the river and check out the tower.

Mala Sankara

Nice place for a stroll

Prashant Bombe

Beautiful scenery. View of the tower is nice to capture few clicks. Saw people riding bikes and walking on the trail.Thw spot is overlooking the grand river. The parking was mentioned as private parking so was little worried if I could park …

Cary Scott

Cool tower but you can't climb it and there's not much there to see. Don't make a special trip to see it, but if your looking for a hike along the adjoining trails, it makes a nice point of interest.

Reza Sadreddin

A monument to remember first amish people who arrived in this area and a small cemetery. A well deserved building in middle of a park land with a beautiful scenery to grand river valley. Nice place for walking and enjoying nature. The …

C O

Beautiful piece of Kitchener history! Wish it was open to the public, though understandable as to why no one is allowed to climb it (dangerous heights, and vandalism). If you visit in the fall months, make sure you venture over behind the …

Great little spot for photos. The historic tower is kind of the centrepiece, but the views of the Grand River around it are incredible.

Glenn Robinson

Pretty stone Tower.

Renata .K.

Lovely place to visit and see a small part of Waterloo Region history which began in 1800 with the arrival of a few Mennonite families from Pennsylvania. Playground at Kuntz Park for younger children, Walter Bean Grand River Trail and a remarkable view of the Grand River for everyone. 300 Lookout Lane, Kitchener, Ontario N2P 2X8.????????

Dan Miller

Interesting structure but the surrounding park is tiny and underwhelming. Unfortunately this structure is only open once or twice a year for folks to climb to the top.

Glen Sweezey

Almost lost in time and developments this memorial still remains in place. Would have rated five stars but not allowed to climb up anymore.

Beautiful place!

Beautiful spot for a walk into the Grand River valley. Shame about the occasional graffiti that ends up tagged here.

This place is apparently haunted at night!! I love the chilling factor to old historical sites and its absolutly a sight to see. If you in for a spook, check it out at night and see if theres anyone or anything watching you. I never saw anything but i definitaly felt like i was being watched. In the day time theres not much of a creepy feel though, its just beautiful

Sri Divya

Beautiful historic tower and trails. Beware of the mosquitoes!

Nancy Paulini

Great trail for walking

Brian Dorion

We went during the Open Door event and where able to go inside and climb up to the viewing walk. It was quite cool. Unfortunately the huge subdivision to the east is not very picturesque. The sewage treatment plant on the other side of the river to the west is undergoing a very large expansion as well. The tower is attractive, but the setting is bland.

cat parr

It was nice to learn a bit of history

Gordie Hanna

A great place to go for a walk. It was once on the Huron Road, which bridged the Grand. That's why it seems to be out in the middle of nowhere.

Angela Molendyk

Amazing that this is right in the city!! It's absolutely beautiful!!

XIAOGANG ZHU (Jayden)

Ancient tower and historical symbol.

Marion G

Beautiful little tower located in the Deer Ridge neighborhood, beside the Walter Bean Trail. The massive houses that have been built right beside the tower take away from the ambiance. The tower was built in 1926 to commemorate the arrival of the Pennsylvania Dutch to Southern Ontario. The tower is built on a site once cleared by the first pioneers who settled the area. It stands on a ridge overlooking the Grand River. The tower is constructed of rounded fieldstone, which have been collected from the surrounding land. It tapers to a height of 18.9m (62ft), has a copper roof and is topped by a weather vane shaped as a Conestoga wagon.

Rajkaran Chauhan

I loves going back there again n again.. the trail is good and its long... it has many picturesque spots

Arvin Yoga

Bring your kids to Ontario's very own Rapunzel's tower! Beautiful tower. Good amount of parking right next to the tower. We stopped there for quick photos. There's also a playground there

A cool heritage area. Graveyard is old. A little disappointing to not be able to go up the tower. A good walk to the the bridge. Information boards on the way are a little faded but still relay some great info of how things did and are still working on the Grand river.

S

Peaceful trail with the creek and golf course on both sides. An easy and recreational trail with nice scenery.

James McArthur

Awesome starting point for a walk down the grand river.

Catherine Fairbairn

Mark Hartburg

Nice park in a scenic location. Too bad it is not open to the public to climb.

tina woodland

It is a great part of local history. There is a nice trail to go for a walk. The direction we took is not good for strollers as the terrain becomes rough.

Mark Woodley

I remember visiting this site as a child and wondering its significance. Apparently my family was one of the pioneers commemorated for settling in the general area. Visited again a couple of years ago to see what was once a rural setting is now a suburban parkland with a children's playground adjacent and part of a trailway in Kitchener. Parking available and site is barrier free for people with mobility challenges but there's some gravel to overcome on your way to the tower. A nice place as a tribute to some of the area's founding members. Limited parking, free to all.

JENN LOOSEMORE

There is a nice open area a play structure. The tower was padlocked when I visited, so I was unable to go to the top.
