Great trail lots of wildlife and things to see. Just a heads up though it is closed from September 11, 2017 to roughly November 30, 2017 for construction infrastructure work on sanitary sewer lines. It is cordoned off between Sheffield and Beaverdale

One of Hespeler's hidden gems for sure! A wonderful river side walk or bike ride. This trail has it all: nature, river views, water falls, foot bridges and wild life galore. We usually go from Sheffield Street right to Beaverdale Road and back. A decent hike that takes less than an hour. Large Parking area, park benches and garbage cans are a bonus too :)

I have been walking this trail my entire life, my father, his father, and his father before him. It never gets old and always is well taken care of. There is so much more to this trail then meets the eye. If you're curious, you can easily venture off the beaten path and discover separate trails, wildlife of all sorts, hidden streams, various lost treasures, and even a small city of people who call this place their home. So pack a bottle of water and some nuts because adventure awaits!

Reinhard R.

Quiet trail along the river and the railway tracks. One boardwalk is currently closed due to construction.

Great!

It's a lovely trail for walking, running, cycling, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing - virtually flat and mostly well-groomed, with only a few roots and rocks to catch a toe. The footbridge near the Hespeler end is one of the prettiest places in town, and you can catch amazing sunsets over the Speed River from various points on the trail.

Awesome trail to hike or bike

D Hausman

A pleasant trail between Hespeler to Riverside Park in Preston along the Speed river. It's an old rail bed so rather flat. Mostly dirt or gravel. Good views. Mostly in forest cover. There's now an underpass under Hwy 401.

Jasmeet Singh

This is a unique trail in Cambridge Ontario. Not a regular trail that runs into a conservation area or park bjt goes alongside a river then crosses back yards of some residents and also railway tracks. Not at all crowded, very few folks mostly walking their dogs and some fishing enthusiasts who are friendly and wace back if you choose to say Hi to them. No facilities of water or restrooms so be prepared accordingly. Plenty of free parking given its frequented by only the folks who know such a trail exists. Out and back kimd of trail that can be done in 2 hours both sides gievn you chose to sit for a while and enjoy the mini falls view at the river.

Laura

Kevin Konkle

Not very challenging. Little elevation change.

Sayef Khan

Very unique trail that goes along with the river. Loved it.

Fantastic trail! Although closed for construction currently(September 2017), it normally takes you from Hespeler to Preston parts of Cambridge and all along the way you get to experience some wildlife along the river. Great place for family walks or biking with friends! Need to cool off from a long day of work? I would recommend the Mill Run trail for sure! Trees surround most of the trail and at the Preston end of the trail you head straight into Riverside park which is perfect for picnics and just unwinding! From Hespeler to Preston by bike takes about 20-30 minutes depending on your pace, definitely a trail I would recommend to anyone who enjoys getting outdoors and being in nature. It's close to downtown so your not too far from home, making it perfect for a quick getaway.

Lovely trail that runs from Hespeler to Preston beside the Speed River. The trail needs reconstructing (paved) at the Hespeler end to make it safer for walkers and bike riders.

Great trail! You start in St Jacobs, and after the hike you can have an ice cream cone, or a coffee and a pastry in town. The trail is 1.5 miles each way along the mill race waterway to the dam. The trail is flat and easy walking, with lots of scenery any time of the year. You can fish by the dam, mostly pike and bass. There are also picnic tables if you want to take a lunch. An easy walk or bike ride in gorgeous scenery. Perfect for an afternoon or morning stroll.

Have lived within walking distance of this trail and never got around to exploring it. It turns out, I've been missing out on a hidden gem right beneath my nose! The trail is mostly made of gravel, with a few wooden bridges and small paved sections and seems to very well maintained. It is perfect for walking, running or mountain biking. A road bike would be alright, but there are probably better places for that (i.e. the road!). The start of the trail is found on Sheffield, just off of Guelph Avenue, and takes you all the way to Riverside Park in Preston. The trail itself follows the Speed River, and boasts great scenery throughout. The river is visible on most of the trail, and is crossed over twice. There is plenty or parking at the trailhead and there are quite a few parking lots that connect to the trail at various points along its length, making this one of the most easily accessible trails around. Would highly recommend checking it out!

Nice smooth trail. Interesting views between the Mill, bridges, river, mini-falls and forest. Parallel paths walk along river and along the forest. I recommend staying on the main path; offshoots didn't really lead anywhere and got me pretty muddy.
