REVIEWS OF McDougall Cottage Historic Site IN Cambridge

Beautiful historic Scottish cottage from 1858. English gardens surround the cottage, which is open for public viewing during certain times of the year. Tartan Tea occurs several times throughout the year (various themes, I believe all are Scottish based). The cottage is also open for general viewing, with restored ceiling friezes (painted ceilings). I believe it's volunteer run, so be kind when you visit! Also, they will sometimes have local musicians in playing traditional Scottish music (no, not always bagpipes!).

Wonderful! I recommend both the tour and the tea -- served with an assortment of tarts, sandwiches and cookies, that will make you want to go back for another relaxing afternoon! Beautifully decorated, and very cozy. There are often themed teas, my favorite being the one for Summer Solstice, which is served outdoors.
