Great hidden gem with crystal clear water

It’s an abandoned quarry for around 90 years, and after the great efforts of rehabilitation, it is now such a fascinating place. We can’t always ask from the earth, but we shall also pay back. The amazing colors of water are because of the calcium and magnesium carbonate I assume. The quarry trail is awesome too.

It's a pleasant trail, with an old quarry at the end. It's an easy trail for inexperienced hikers, mostly flat with a few gentle hills. The parking lot of pretty small, but there's usually a spot.

Awesome walk, beautiful scenery and wildlife, crystal clear water

Well maintained gravel trails with many dirt paths winding off the main trail. Excellent job caretakers. …

Beautiful trail, wish there was more garbage cans on the trail though as there was quite a few garbages around the trail.. also the garbage at the beginning of the trail is usually always full.. …

Beautiful hike to an abandoned quarry through pines and cedars. Take a dip in the water, an idyllic little haven. $7.50 for the automatic parking metre in the little parking lot is well worth it.

Kids loved all the caterpillars and butterflies

Eady trails good forest meadow scenery

It is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. Once you choose to walk differently then you can explore the forest in the left side of the walk way .You can see the exact feeling of entering a forest. Made me felt for a moment that I am a …

Great trails to walk dogs or hike. Shallow and deeper ponds. Various trees etc for shade and fall colours. Convenient off Hwy 6.

Pretty easy walking. The trail is well looked after; about 40 to 45 minutes to walk all the way around. Longer, if you stop to read about the quarry, its history, and some of the unique wildlife. Shorter if you take some of the cross-trails to get back.

Wonderfull. Awesone trail

This is a great site for a nice hike. It has trails, a pond, a couple of creeks, something for everyone. Decent sized parking lot though it does get full on nice days. Most people keep their dogs leashed unless it's very quite. There are a number of loops and a good guidepost/map near the entrance.

Lovely walk on a cold winter day.

Beautiful place for a hike.

What a hidden gem! The short hike to get here was well worth it. Children would be interested in finding water snakes, frogs and turtles, returning them to the wild of course. We saw lots of dog owners with dogs enjoying a splash. It was a great Saturday morning visit.

A nice little hidden spot. Very quiet and peaceful and not too crowdy for a nice little walk along the trail which leads to the small pond with crystal clear water.

Great trail. My family and I love walking here and there's lots of beautiful scenery.

Great place to walk the dog.

A great little walk close to home. When we first arrived and saw the parking area was full, we were very concerned about how busy it would be, however once we were on the trail it was quite clear and everyone was very respectful of …

Great place to unwind, hike and sit by the water listening to the birds

A long and wonderful cool trail with pebbly track, not at all hard on knees. But got a car fee of 7.50 Dollars.

Lovely little swimming hole with clear water..

Huge and I love the quarry for the dogs.

Good cross country jog grounds

Easy hike thru woods and quarry ruins , with small board walk by shallow lake.

No shade on trail. Was an alright adventure.

Area is beautiful. Well maintained trails that are levelled off (minimal inclines) and gravel. But, experience is poor due to the number of off-leash dogs on the trail. …

Beautiful place for a walk.

Had fun geo caching and walking the dogs. Beautiful Creek area and the quarry is pretty. Nice evergreens and a stone path that is well manicured. Train went by and was loud. Can walk for a long time.

Kids love this spot has some awesome geocashes.

One of our go-to hikes! We love the width of the trail for ease of passing other trail-goers and dogs. Scenic, great variety of landscapes to explore.

An old quarry that has been given new life!

Beautiful Area!

The trail is great! Nice wide path that's mostly gravel covered, lots of cool places to explore and check out. I would give it 5 stars if I didn't have to pay $7.50 for parking though. Only place I have ever seen paid parking to go walk a trail. Wasn't impressed.

The water is the clearest in Ontario.

Extremely boring place for hiking, dog walkers use it as a dog park, trails have plenty of poop on them! also off leash dogs!

Very nice place, we went with the grandsons for geocaching.

beautiful area

Nice quiet location, good for a dip.

The hike out to the Quarry is quite enjoyable. The trails are well groomed with most of them being gravel. About halfway through the preserve is Fletcher Creek which is in a quiet, forested part of the trail which accentuates the sound of …

Lovely day. Well kept wide path, capable of social distancing. Beautiful variety of ecosystems in a short hike - meadow, marsh, forest. There is a rubbish bin at the trail head and halfway point, please use them instead of chucking your dog poo into the woods. ????

Easy hiking

Nice trail

Beautiful grounds, enough parking, and not very busy. Would recommend for walking.

(2021-08) Note**, parking is no longer free and costs $7.5 for the day, which is kind of unfortunate as it is expensive for a trail hike. On street parking isn't really an option. …

Great trail to walk and get fresh air, not much for those looking for a challenging hike

All of a sudden a $7.5 a day parking fee popped up. There are maybe 10 parking spaces at the trail head. Folks park some 400m away on the side of the road. Flat, gravel covered trail.

Peaceful place. About an hour walk to do full loop, beautiful sights. Bring some bug spray.

Really lovely trail, a nice walk that loops and some cute wildlife to spot!

Water was heckin cold as always but it was great

Nice decent sized trail surrounding beautiful creek. Better suited for a quick bike ride than for hiking

Nice family friendly walks

Beautiful! Water is amazingly clean!????

Great trail

I love this place, a great long loop that takes about an hour to walk. Before the sun started setting so early it was the best place for a relaxing after work hike. Parking lot is very small, and I couldn't go one Wednesday afternoon because it was packed. Trails are very clear and easy to follow.

Was a beautiful snowy day. The trail was quiet and seemd well maintained. I'll visit again for sure.

The trails are well kept and very smooth the walk on. Though the quarry is Ricky in the bottom, the water is clear and nice to Wade in

This is one of my favourite places to hike with my dog. It’s usually not busy—even on the weekends. Lots of parking and long, scenic trails. The quarry is an awesome halfway point, especially in the summer.

Beautiful walk on well maintained trails. At the halfway mark there is seating overlooking a small quarry lake. Feels very remote opposed to most trails

Beautiful spot so close to home. Love going there and enjoying the nature!

Beautiful quarry with crystal clear water. Be sure to wear your water boots so you can wade through the water. The parking lot spot is on concession road 7.

Used to be a sweet query with cliffs to jump from. Now it's a great place to take the dog.

Beautiful hike, great trails, and nice watering holes.

Great hiking trails. Excellent place for a family and dogs. Nice scenery with a creek and a pond further in. Very peaceful.

Fantastic. Took both my sons here. Nice long walking ending in an old quarry. We were able to go into the water, which was nice and clear, and wade around.

Great hiking trail, not busy and enough trail for a good day out!

Peaceful and very dog friendly. Great trail with a beautiful quarry

Beautiful area! Great hike to get in or out, bring bug spray though!

Don't go here. Leave it all to me.

Great little walking trail. Very easy going

Terrific trail to walk!

Great trails, shallow pools for cooling down on hot summer days, great place to walk the dog.

Beautiful virgin forest, streams and lakes

A lovely walk! Very easy. Kids abound. Picturesque

Great place to walk the dog. Lots of paths and clean water which is great to take your pet to swim.

Lovely trails, great for walking the dog!

It was nice and scenic just be careful, I flicked 3 ticks off my leg while I was walking the trail.

Excellent walk in here today. Was here early not many people around

Nice trails for Walking or biking

Get out side and enjoy the beautiful weather and sun ☀️ enjoy your love ❤️ once. This place is just perfect. …

Beautiful spot. History of the location and its reclamation is encouraging and educational. Easy wide walking paths. Nice location for young families to do a family walk.

Not really geared to tourists, but an excellent nature preserve. As a wildlife photographer I spend a lot of time there

Such a beautiful place for a hike with family and dogs!!

Adults, kids and dogs had an awesome time beautiful place

Small parking lot, but the side road is wide enough for overflow parking (Parking meter in the lot). Mostly gravel trail, peacefully quiet and relaxing hike. The small bridge over the creek was nice.

We used to take our dog here 4 or 5 times a week but now that they are charging $7.50 for parking we will not be back

Really nice place to go for a hike

Beautiful trail, please don`t tell everyone Lol

Lovely place to walk. Good parking too.

Brought my kids and they loved the atmosphere and the ourdoors

Lovely place!

Recently discovered this place and it's the perfect place to walk the dog. I've been here once but it will definitely be one of my go to spots for my dog. It's an hour away from me but the trip here is so worth it. I could easily spend hours here with my dog.

One of my favorite places to just hang out, plenty of wildlife if you know where to look. It is great what they did here, turning an old quarry into a rare habitat type that supports quite a lot of wildlife.

What a gem of a place. Do yourself a favour and go here. Such a unique experience.

A great place to go to get out

Quiet location with an easy walking trail.

Loved this trail. Walking through all the trees was pretty special. It was a short 5 km walk but worth it!

Very small parking lot! Nice trail through the woods. Well visited and looks well kept too. Nice easy walk for older family members.

Nice walk, wide trail lots of people on weekends, Quarry good spot to rest a few minutes.

This trail is beautiful, with a nice pond at the back. I used to love taking my dogs here. But now they're charging $7.50. This place used to be free. I understand maintenance and all that, but for $7.50 I can drive the extra 20 minutes, and have 100kms+ of trails. This one, round trip, is maybe 5km.

Great place to walk, hike or snowshoe!!!!

Very enjoyable. A perfect day, nice discoveries.

Path is clean and well maintained. Beautiful, full cedar trees line a good part of the path and I wish I would have seen these covered in snow. Stroller friendly and easy for little ones but the path to the quarry is long. I think there's a shorter path using a side entrance to the park.

Great place to hike as long as dog walkers have their dogs on a leash. We had a bad experience of a dog running to us and jumping up on us.

Good place to swim with the family. It's about a 25 minute walk/hike on a gravel path until you get to the swimming area. Next time I'd wear water shoes though.

The paths are not as well maintained as some and views and wildlife are not of the spectacular variety but you might just have a nice hike in the woods at no charge. That's good, right?

Lovely hike

Beautiful area for a walk, close to nature, great trails.

Beautifully peaceful.

Great place for a hike ????????

Really nice for a family friendly hike, and not to crowded.

Great place for a hike much more than I expected.

Easy hike. Gorgeous area to relax and explore. Did find a tick on my dog the other day so be aware when you leave to check yourself and you pets!

Great hike/bike trail to a quarry.

Amazing views, not too busy, very well maintained.

This is a nice pleasant trail. There is a problem, however, with rampant dogs off leash. Every time I visit I encounter the same problem.

Almost 3km long hike. Pathway is average. Very quite place. It’s so amazing how water is so clear coming from fresh water resources. Overall nice experience.

Beautiful, hidden gem perfect for a good 5+km walk/hike. I went during the week and was the only person there.

Nice place for a walk.

It was cool gf hates it tho

Love the trail. But won't be back as the city of Hamilton has installed a parking station. $7.50 to park. No thanks.

This is an amazing hidden gem in the middle of the woods. The water is extremely clean and the little ponds are filled from an underground spring flowing through the rocks very neat. Found this place by accident and we were very glad we did.

Great trail for a easy hike! Very pet friendly and well maintained.

A great place to enjoy the outdoors and walk the dogs :)

Beautiful and clean

A nice, relatively short trail system with a mix of forest and meadow. The reclaimed quarry was neat and offered a pretty vista.

Easy, moderately trafficked hiking loop trail. Most of the trail is gravel, but some parts of the loop are just dirt, which could get a bit muddy in spots. …

Such a pretty walk
