This is such a nice spot to bring the doggo for a casual walk around the lake. I was also very impressed with how accessible the trails are. There are benches placed throughout to provide a quick nature break. The board walks are wide and have toe boards to provide safe access for people in wheelchairs, walkers, strollers etc. However, some of the paved trails are slightly uneven and could use improvement. All in all, a beautiful spot within the city to come and enjoy nature for a moment.

Good loop for beginner hikers, just incredibly busy. Trails are marked as one way and people were great about respecting that when we visited!

Beautiful walk

Sometimes I walk through the reeds.

Nice park for a walkabout. There are boardwalks around most of the shoreline, except where it cuts back to the road or the path goes into the woods a bit. It's marshy with lots of skunk cabbage and vegetation growing out of the water. There are some neat looking trees that have been uprooted but still growing sideways. There are several small parking lots around the perimeter of the lake. Usually not a problem to find parking, it just depends where you want to start walking from. The path goes by Shadbolt centre for the Arts, and the Century Gardens attached to it. The field outside Shadbolt is where live concerts are held in the summer. Pro tip: You can rent canoes and listen to concerts from the water. There's a boat rental place on the east side with tons of canoes.

Gma Chacha

Nice trail. 1.5 hours of walk.

Easy and relatively flat trail. Good for beginners and casual walkers. Walking around the lake can be done in under 2 hours. Deer Lake is quite diverse in its wild life, expect to see a lot of different plants and animals hanging around. Lots of green and blues. I find the smell of the lake to be quite distinctive. Also be careful of insects too! Lots of them around including swarming flies, dangling worms from trees, and slugs on the ground.

We enjoy walking around the lake. It's not all paved though, so we like to leave the stroller behind.

(Translated) Flat track, 5 km. Playground for kids at the beginning and towards the end. There is a nice lake with the option of renting kayaks.
