My favourite part of the Burnaby Lake Loop. You can spot Canadian geese and duck here regularly. Turtles will nest here in the grass here (and often outside the designated and fenced off section). The steps up to the Dam crossing are not great for small dogs. Their feet may be too small and slip through. My dog wont even attempt the stairs and needs to be carried up them.

Conservation! Appreciate the work for natures and education to civilians. Able to watch salmon during the season. One of a place to take walk, the road is smooth and easy.

A great trail around Burnaby lake.

The top of the dam is a walkway. There is a salmon ladder here as well as some information on the salmon species. Additional information is posted about salmon egg harvesting for conservation purposes.

Josh

Beautiful place with many walking trails nearby. Right beside the dam, you can see chum and coho salmon spawning during the fall. The best time to see spawning salmon is from early October through November. Blue herons and many species of waterfowl can be seen year round.

Sash

Nice park if you are in need of a quick escape from the city.

James Elliott Hunter

Cool little dam with water from the Brunette River rushing through it. It's a bridge as well leading to walking paths around Burnaby Lake.

The dam is part of the trail system that hugs the shores of Burnaby Lake. Despite being a stone throw away from the roadways, we seldom heard much noise. The small dam is also a bridge. But the lake upstream is very still and peaceful. I found the gurgling of the water downstream is very soothing. It is a good spot to spend a few quiet moments. Joggers and strollers are the only distraction. Either side of the dam, much of the trails are lined by trees providing shelter from the sun. The paths are mostly level so the walk is easy. It was just after rain when we last walked the western end of the trails where the dam is. There were many slugs so we had to be careful not to step on them. It was pleasing to see such healthy nature amidst the urban build-up.
