I will always promote an Alberta Historic site. Neat to see in person, but you probably only need to visit once. If you are camping at Kinbrook Island, you may as well stop by and learn a bit of history, or freshen up on your knowledge.

Great view of the old concrete aqueduct (a National and Provincial Historic Site) with easy access from the highway. It was under a 10 minute drive from downtown Brooks and was worth checking out.

Interesting stop for a bit of road-side history. Parking area with a few benches/tables for a picnic and many interpretive signs that tell the story. Shame about the fence, photos would be much nicer without it...

This place is 20 minutes of low key fun for engineering nerds. I have driven past signs to the aqueduct many times over the last 40 years and have always wanted to stop. It was well worth the 20 minutes it took us to visit. If you like local history or engineering history from the early 1900's you will like it. This is the perfect place for people that enjoy things like finding arrowheads, metal detecting, looking for fossils,or seeing interesting geography. Not that any of that stuff is here, just that the type of person that likes that type of stuff will also like seeing this place for a few minutes.

I grew up beside the aqueduct & still love it. It is an amazing structure & I wish it could have been repaired instead of being replaced by a canal. I am glad that it is a Heritage Site & has information for people to read about its history.

When we ventured out to see this part of history I did not understand the size of it. It is quite amazing. There is a playground and picnic tables. Bathrooms where locked. Lots of signs to read.

An amazing part of Alberta history, and an engineering feat and its time. It’s amazing that it was an aqueduct, but that the train ran on top of it was even more incredible. Also consider the time. And they were able to pull something like this off. Definitely worth a visit.

Interesting to see. Worth a visit if you are in the area. It's cool to see how the approach changed 60 years later. The building which we assumed was a visitor center is boarded up, but there are some informative displays around. We also saw some cool animals around. We saw a couple of garter snakes, some large hawks, and a beaver in the canal

The interpretation center was not open, surprise,, sign of the times. Great piece of history worth the visit if you are in the area. Would be a nice place to have a break and a picnic as there is a park!

Quite an interesting place with some prairies related history to visit. Can walk alone the aqueduct or the dyke of the new aqueduct today. Interesting background and history around how the new aqueduct was built and how it worked around the railway tracks.

Its ok there where no leaflets to help you along the self guided tour thou there where makes sign posts that hinted there ought to be. The road to the tour section down the way was also locked for some reason even thou we where there during open times everything was all locked up

This is a unique historical site in Alberta's Grasslands region and has a lot of information about why it was an important part of the area's history. There is a great walking trail, year round washroom facilities, ample parking and lots of places to take really interesting photos. I would absolutely recommend taking the extra ten minute drive from Brooks to check out this site.
