Awesome family time ???? with Storme, Roxanne, Giavanna, and Carter! ????????????????
An amazing place to tour. If you can do the overnight stay, I highly recommend it. It is definitely an experience you won't forget. Beautiful grounds and an incredible castle. Antiques, secret passageways, suits of armor, incredible views, and much more. The caretaker and all the staff we came in contact with were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Made the stay so special. Covid19 procedures in place. Felt extremely comfortable our whole stay.
Had a lot of fun!
Castle was really cool but seemed really rushed at end by ustours didn't get any time in gift shop would think that singer Castle is losing out of some good revenue but visitors not spending money there
Spectacular castle!
The tour was absolutely amazing! Our tour guide was wonderful and very informative. I only wish we had more time to see the rest of the castle. ????
Weekday
The island and castle gets 5 stars, but the tour only gets 2. The tour was rushed with zero free time to explore the area before being hustled back on the boat for departure. The time on the island was an hour. Would have been more enjoyable if there was a longer scheduled stay. I don't think this had anything to do with Covid-19 other than the less time, the more people. The castle and island was beautiful and we'll kept, just wished for more time to visit, relax and enjoy.
Dusty but unique.
Fun place to visit plenty of history
We really enjoyed the tour of this Castle.
Our tour guide was great, personable, engaging. The Singer Castle is beautiful. It's so nice to see the preservation. While this wasn't the original plan (Boldt Castle was closed for the season) this was well worth the visit.
We truly enjoyed our Singer Castle tour! Our tour guide Luke was knowledgeable, moved through the castle at a nice pace and highlighted some really unique facts about the castle and its residents. We would really be interested in doing an overnight stay in future!
Uncle Sam Boat took us. About 1 hour from Alexandria Bay. The tour lasted 45 minutes. Unfortunately, we did not have time to walk on our own and the young lady doing the tour sounded robotic and tired. We arrived, toured the place and left. The bathroom was flooded and the gift shop too. Interesting place. No wifi.
Nice and friendly place to visit.. relaxing bout tour to get there.. love the guilded tour with information about everything
So interesting, great tour guide.
A castle with secret passages, a fun history and it was actually lived in! Worth the ride.
beautiful place to visit.. be prepared for many steps.. we loved it
No wait
Singer castle was beautiful inside and was spectacular to go to and see it. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of it and very pleasant to listen to.
Beautiful singer castle and had great landscape.
Beautiful place. You do not have enough timeto enjoy. Felt very rushed and could nothear speeker. Would highly recommend you visit the Boldt Castle instead.
Visited on
So amazing and historic loved the visit tour guides did a great job
What an amazing home! And you can stay the night there... A must see if in the region. And ask for Garrett for a tour guide.. that young man did a great job.
It was the most amazing place highly recommend visiting it, the structure and secret passage ways were so cool.
First, the architecture is amazing and our tour guide was great! But... this historic structure is in poor condition from the roof to all the interiors and furnishings. I was so sad and disappointed in the condition of the castle. I do realize that the prior owners did great damage but this company has owned it for several years. Tourists, like myself, are walking on original rugs, allowed to touch everything and your can tell. Rub marks everywhere and dry rotted fabrics and furnishings in EVERY ROOM. The windows are dirty and full of bugs and cobwebs. This castle has unreal potential and has great bones. I hope the parent company will make a plan and invest more in the property.
Tour guide was very nice and insightful
Very good tour and castoe
Interesting, a lot of history. It's very picturesque.
Very knowledgeable guide. Cool castle.
Impressive property. lacking some furniture and in need of some obvious repairs. Great tour guide and access to almost entire castle.
It's a nice "castle" with a guided tour. That means that how good a tour you get depends on how good the tour guide is. Well we had a high school student who did an okay job -- for a high school student. When I asked him some questions of the period mechanics; electricity, plumbing, he really didn't rise to the occasion. The island is currently owned by some investors and I guess that's how venture capital keeps costs down. It's not a remarkable structure all said. I think Boldt Castle, which is much closer to the port, is much better, feels much bigger, and is more of what you expect in a castle. Looking back on the building as we sail away, the one lingering question I have is: "Was that it?" I think for the fee, the hour trip there and back, they should invest in more knowledgeable and experienced tour guides. The talk we got on the Uncle Sam boat out there and back was much better than on the island. I get that they are trying to do weddings, fancy sleepovers, and ghost tours, but talking about the castle, how it was built, and something about the people who lived there would be worthwhile.
Gorgeous castle, so much fun for the kids too!
Definitely a wonderful place to visit and enjoy. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Guided tour of the castle was wonderful and fully booked. Many wonderful memories of my visit.
Love this tour! Been here twice and both times the tour guide was amazing! The castle is really cool to look at and explore. Will for sure be back again, maybe next time to stay the night ????
Beautiful experience!
Both the boat guide and the castle guide were wonderful! So glad we chose the Singer Castle tour!
Neat place
Everything inside is not the original .. It was still nice to go see the Castle.. But if you're really pressed for time.. Just visit the Boldt Castle instead.. You can stay at Singer Castle overnight if you want to.. Look it up!
This is a fantastic castle on the St. Lawrence River with secret passages, informed tour guides, and historical connections to the area. Would certainly recommend to anyone visiting the area and wanting to see the river's castles. An added bonus is the beautiful boat ride there! Try for a sunny day for best views of the magnificent deep blue river!
Couple years ago we went to Boldt Castle now during July 4 weekend we visited Singer Castle. Boat trip 1 hr oneway and guided tour Castle about 45mnt and he will explain everything. We took 2pm boat tour and they have 2 departures only at 10 and 2pm. On the way back the boat stop to Boldt Castle. Soo many exit secret passageway inside the castle. Recommended you must visit Singer Castle. 1nt stay around $775.
Went with my sister while visiting the area. Great tour. Tour guides had extensive knowledge of the Singer family and the castle. Enjoyed the pontoon boat ride from Schermerhorn landing.
Yes
nice cruise, your guide was excellent.
Such a pretty spot. The tour guide tried to rush us thru. That was a down side
Great experience!
Beautiful place. I'd love to stay here a night with friends. The tour guide was great and the castle has lots of history to learn about. Hope you enjoy your tour and my photos.
Been there twice. If I was rich, I'd love to live there. The secret passages are just too cool. A true American Castle.
The Singer Castle tour is guided and approximately one hour long. It was hard to take photos because we were rushed through. The castle seems like it could use major cleaning and dehumidifying. A few lower rooms were so musty I couldn't breath. The history and contents are really interesting although it seemed that they were not doing any restoration or good upkeep on the furniture and the grounds. We were there in August 2016.
Tour guide was top notched and easily heard. Great personality!
Staff is great and helpful. Although it's a ride down river from Alex Bay it's well worth the trip to take the tour. Love to stay over night for a day or two and enjoy the place more. Maybe one day.
Nice place to visit. It's one of those places that are a must see only once. What's attractive is that you can rent a room in the castle for a night. Under $1,000 room in a castle with million-dollar views - that's not bad at all!!! I will definitely consider this for my upcoming wedding anniversary. (shhhhhhh, don't tell my wife!)
Liked this tour better than Boldt Castle. Smaller castle. nice cruise. Anne was a great story teller!
Beautiful and fun experience. The hidden passage ways just add so much fun. Our guide was new and wasn't exceptionally well versed in the castle history. Other guides seemed to be better trained.
The tour is definitely worth the money. You start out on the tour with uncle Sam's boats with a very informative guide. You continue to the castle where you get another guide that walks you threw the castle. I am definitely recommending this to those that enjoy this type of outing . 5 stars isn't enough but all I could give.
Beautifully kept! Great job to the current owners, amazing staff and knowledgeable guides! HIGHLY recommended!!
Stayed overnight in Royal suite. 2 bedrooms, one has king size bed and living area, other bedroom has 2 queen beds. Huge rooms. Entire Castle to explore including secret passages. Only rooms off limits are guide and caretakers rooms. Caretaker and guide only people on island overnight with us. Nice breeze thru windows, turn off lights in evening or shut windows, bugs will come in from river attracted to the light. 2 mini fridges in room, one was filled with a variety of sodas, juice and bottled water. Coffee pot and coffee in room. Variety of snack size chips. Plates, cups, utensils, wine glasses etc. Tour was very informative and fun! You can do a quick tour or ask tons of questions like us and take hours! Big salad with rolls for dinner. Choice of steak, chicken or shrimp salad. Bring own alcohol. Leave empty bottle in wine cellar. Breakfast was individually wrapped danishes, cereal, yogurt, juice, coffee, milk. So many great photos. It's just like going back in time.
Tour guide was great, but not much time to roam. Now comparing Boldt, it's nice to have a history lesson, but also go out on your own and look around a bit. Tour was outside, inside and back out. Couldn't take much pictures due to some people deliberately lagging behind, or rushed out of the room when the info was done. Boldt is nice if you want good pictures and roam around,Singer is nice because you have a tour guide but I would have at least liked to have gotten some good family photos for the amount I paid.
From a far, the castle is stunning. Once docked, and touring..., it's less appealing. You are extremely limited to what you can explore/tour, and the upkeep is mediocre. Ironically, the most delightful room, refreshing and airy, is the female servants quarters on the 4th floor. They were housed there as a show of their status, the higher up, the less in wealth. Several secret passages were mentioned, but unable to tour any, but for a small fee of $775, a couple may rent the master suite for the evening and be guided through the lairs. I will not return to this castle.
We had tour guide Arthur...superb!!! Loved every minute there!!! So beautiful.
Amazing! Do not miss the boat tour to this castle.
It was beautiful. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly. We married here ten years ago, and they were very accommodating then. Some parts of the property appeared a little less maintained than before, but I'm sure the cost of managing the property is high. Some parts of the property was affected by high flood waters this time too.
Just an amazing throwback to what it was like to live at the high points of society, and how some climbed the economic ladder to do it.
Guided tour both interesting and fun information. Person who lead tour was very good and seemed to enjoy her work.
This was a lot of fun. The tour guide was very informative. The castle isn't as big as Boldt Castle, bit it has a lot of cool features. Ask your guide to go through one of the secret passages.
Absoulutely loved it. Beautiful castle, lots of history. It is like Woodstock from Walter Scott book came alive.
Exciting! Beautiful! So much history presented in a fun way. This was the first time ever going there from Alexandria Bay as we have often gone to Boldt Castle. It takes a little longer to get there however the view on the boat ride is, of course, gorgeous! The staff who give small group tours at the castle were fun and so knowledgable! You can even make reservations to stay overnight if you want to! That is next on our list of things to do!!
Great place with great and funny tourist guides. There's a guided ferry tour and a guided castle tour, 3 and a half hours. Loved the experience!
The castle was very cool. We wanted to explore the secret passages. Was definately worth going to see.
Beautiful place. Tours where great, just wished they went slower. Didn't get to see everything in every room. Get that they were on a schedule. 45 minute tours are too short. Still gorgeous place!
Loved this place. If you like castles this is by far the one i liked best. Our tour guide was awesome.
Beautiful Island and tour was very good. Could use a little sprucing up compared to Boldt Castle.
Really interesting and well worth the visit
Great experience, good history and amazing scenery, highly recommended this tour
Was very disappointed with the tour. Was told by the tour guide that The castle had been acquired by an an investment group in 2002. It appeared they're not putting any funding into upkeep or refurbishing.(peeling wallpaper, small broken floor tiles etc.) And the phrase of the day "was we would show you that, but the tour is too large." It's probably good to see one time but I'm not going back.
You get your steps in at this 4 story castle. 2 secrets passages and plenty of stories about the Singer empire and the people who lived there.
Loved it, it's a lot of uphill walking and stairs to climb but worth it.
A guided tour which was amazing!! We went by private boat so the tour was just our family and our tour guide was quite knowledgeable and very friendly!! She made the tour very enjoyable!!
Excellent craftsmanship and detail.Tour guide very informative. Recommend!
Singer castle was really cool. Very informational, a ton of cool items inside. The tour was fun. Was sort of disappointed tho they hold some of it back unless you rent it out. You can't go into the secret passages unless you rent it. Lots of old furniture. It was a fun experience.
Worth the boat ride to see.
Was a great tour of the castle by Tim.Thanks was a great day????
Great guide, very knowlegeable. Got a trip through the tunnel and hidden passage, lots of steps, boat accessible. Rentable!
Very nice boat ride from Alex bag + guided tour of the castle. The tour guide was great and there was lots of good stuff to see inside.
So beautiful!!!! Our guide did a great job telling us all about the History of Singer Castle. This is a must see!! I have been twice, once with my husband in Aug. 2004 and May 2021 with our 2 daughters. 12 and 7, they both enjoyed it very much!!!
My guest and I were the only living ones there.
Great your guide. The castle is still being renovated, but all in all it was worth the trip.
Enjoyed the tour very much
Reservation recommended
Beautiful place your guide Eathan was great
This castle is amazing! Such a great tour. The secret passageways were super cool and to see all the original furnishing was incredible. Very interesting stories; our tour guide (a young girl; I can't remember her name though!) was fantastic and adorable. Well run operation in conjunction with our boat tour. Just enough time to see, wander and relax. Recommend.
This is a nice 45 minute guided tour and a better choice than Boldt Castle if you have difficulty walking.
Very educational, the decor is of the time. It's a guided tour only.
Beautiful place
Wonderful castle. Started with an hour long boat ride on uncle Sams tour boat, that had a wonderful tour guide telling us all about the castle and many of the islands on the way. At the castle our tour guide new a lot about the castle and the various owners and history.
Gorgeous castle. Great place to visit with well versed tour guides.
Interesting. The tour guide was a baby and kept telling us his parents were married there after he was born.
Lovely experience with out guided tour here, so many interesting fun facts about the castle itself and the people that lived there! Our guide Steve(I think that was his name) did a lovely job bringing each room to life and adding little tidbits about life for the Bourne's and those who owned it afterwards! If you're looking for a good way to fill a few hours I'd highly recommend this tour (and Uncle Sam's boat tours to get you there!)
Neat place to visit.
We loved Singer! It was so cool. Even thinking about staying the night there some day.
Had a great time with our guide 'Ali.' We boated in on my cousins race boat and the docking was limited (less than half of Boldt castle). Everyone was super nice and definitely worth the trip. Definitely a different expirince than Boldt castle in that the features are different, obviously a completely different history and you get a tour guide included! Gift shop was great and we got snacks to hold us off but no real lunch available. We love the 1,000 Islands!!!
Beautiful fun for all. Great tour. Well taken care of
$31+
Wait time
This was a very interesting castle, I did it as part of Uncle Sam Boat Tours. Guide was excellent very friendly and communicative.
I wish they would keep it up better. Its getting run down and needs work done.
Beautiful location for a visit & an amazing location to have a wedding!
You learn a lot of history and meet cool caretakers of this gorgeous castle!
We had a great tour guided by Luke, he was very knowledgeable
The castle tour was awesome. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.
Beautifully built Castle. Some authentic period items inside. Was expecting better upkeep of the interior rooms for being one of the major attractions near Alexandria Bay. The Uncle Sam boat ride to and from the Castle was informative and enjoyable.
Nice hour long boat ride to the castle. Staff on the boat was awesome. Singer castle itself was a let down for me because the tour doesn't take you through any of the hidden passageways. It's a very nice building though.
So interesting and the tour guide was great. He made it so much fun. Tip your tour guides!
This place was amazing. It takes a 1 hour boat ride to get there but it's beautiful. Our boat guide was a very friendly and very corny old man. He was hilarious. They're very efficient in getting tour groups through the castle, the tour is very informative and doesn't take very long. And the castle is beautiful with a fascinating history. The only complaint I have is that you can't wander on your own and so you're always stuffed into rooms with 20 other people and so it's a little hard to enjoy the views. But otherwise it was a perfect visit.
So much fun. Wish I would have stayed over night to see all the secret passages
The boat ride was very nice to get there and the tour of the castle was very Knowledgeable. It was very interesting and beautiful to see.
The Singer Castle has quite an interesting history. Much of the furniture and other furnishings were original. The guide was knowledgeable, but hurried because we had to board the tour boat by 4:00pm. Our only complaints were the hurriedness of the tour and the rather cheap Halloween decorations scattered throughout the castle.
I would love to stay there over night.if I could. Anyone who never been there would enjoy the trip . so much to see and learn.
Fascinating place, and a very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Not only is it beautiful, but very cool, like a time capsule.
Amazing place. A must see!
What a house "castle". You can stay at the house for a fee. but just walking around you can get the feeling of the wealth that they must have had back then.
Price for adult entry
Great tour and transportation to and from. We enjoyed our visit ????????♀️
Amazing - history - museum must see
Well worth going . This was awesome guided tour is the best way
I loved all the details! Such a cool place.
Very interesting tour, beautiful building
Steve and the crew were awesome! So hospitable. We showed up late but they were willing to figure out how to accommodate us. Thank you!!!
Such a beautiful place, disappointed with the knowledge of the tour guide. Dont just turn them loose, train them. Have them shadow to learn
Not as good as Boldt castle IMO. Much smaller and darker inside. The "grand hall" wasn't exactly grand. Tour felt a bit rushed and castle interior not that impressive. Boat ride across and exterior of the castle were the highlights.
Fantastic tour! Our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. The building and grounds are beautiful. Highly recommend!
A lot of super great history Singer familt
Very cool! Just over 1 hour boat ride with tour guide information on the surrounding area. A guided tour of the property & castle. Small gift shop
Great tour guide. Good value for your money. Wish I could have seen the royal suite but it was booked. Also would have loved to explore the secret passageways
I have never been on a guided tour of anything before and Addison was so friendly and informative. I learned so much more than just wandering around on my own. I do wish there was a bit more time for us to freely walk around after the tour before getting on the boat.
Perfect place for honeymooning!
Super tour guide. Great time beautiful building. Amazing history lesson. We all loved it from 8 to 81
