(Translated) Ideal place to approach the culture of the first nations. Absolutely visit clan homes. (Original) Lieu idéal pour approcher la culture des premières nations. Faire absolument la visite des maisons des clans.

Do not let yourself be fooled by Vince (his English name), a native who befriends you while you visit the totems and then charges you $55/hour for chatting with him. He doesn't know the history very well, still learning it from his dad. He is very slow to speak so it takes him a long time to recount stories I have heard from many other native communities, they are not only from here. I love supporting the efforts of the natives to share their knowledge, this one is not someone I would choose to support. The totem poles are amazing however.

Nice cultural experience! There was a local guide who explained some of the stories put on the totems. It would be nice if he would known all the stories but as we learned it's difficult and often a matter of permition from the family chief

J.P. Muldoe

A beautiful piece of the areas history. These are the totem poles that Emily Carr painted while visiting Gitxsan territory in the 1910s.

Stunning selection of totem poles and very friendly village. We missed the sign for the totem poles and asked a lady walking down the street for direction. Not only did she give directions but also told us about her family's totem pole, the meanings of the different carving on it and its location in the the series of totem poles.

Ernie Kidd

The poles themselves are beautiful, but there is no informational plaque or anything explaining their history, their meaning, etc. We wanted to know more about them. The drive there is good, crosses over a canyon bridge which is worth checking out on foot as it's beautiful.

Frank Angus

It was awesome, walking by them totem poles

Jodi Kellis

A great visual experience. It would be great if there was a kiosk with explanatory panels. There was a fellow there handing out brochures for tours around the area starting at $90/hour. Didn't know if he was legit and got my area self-guided tour brochure at the awesome Visitors Center on Hey 16.
