Here you have all the feddbacks of people like you who buy the services of Kinsol Trestle (Tourist Attraction) around British Columbia area (Canada).
As of day the firm receives a rating of 4.8 stars over 5 and the rating is based on 127 reviews.
As you can see its rating is almost the top, and it's founded on a high number of feddbacks, so we may be pretty sure that the assessment is quite accurate. If people have bothered to value when they are pleased with the business, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to put opinions when they are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Tourist Attraction belongs to the category of Historical landmark.
We parked about 15 min away from it and walked to it. As you're approaching you see the trestle and all the trees on both sides, the river...and it's a beautiful picture. We love historic sites and builds so if you like that yourself, you'll like this. You can walk around or come down to the Koksilah river.
Short jaunt to the bridge then beauty. It was worth the drive out there.
Great place for a walk in the woods.
9/10 very nice bridge
Great walk good trails, bicycle & wheelchair friendly
Just awesome !
Worth the hike, very safe as it has full railings on both sides. Great views.
An old school trestle - I've never seen one before, so, enjoyed a lot!
Lots of history, lots of fun for anyone who comes to visit. Beautiful views in any weather. Also, the trail is easily accessible by road and navigable for people using strollers and/or wheelchairs etc. There are several benches along the way to have a picnic or to take a break.
Aug27/2020 The bridge is interesting, although it it's the trail that I came here for and without the bridge the trail may not be here. ————————— Feb.17/2020 Great trail system.I biked over from Glenora Trails Head Park with a ebike approx.16 km. Watch close and perhaps you’ll see somebody’s sculpture artworks do enjoy and don’t destroy. The trail conditions are great.Don’t expect a workout because this trail is too flat.Maybe you won’t mind. The area around the bridge has many trails to venture about. For a nice atmosphere go down to the rivers edge. Play safe and enjoy.
Thanks for the restoration! This was amazing
It's a beautiful trail, hiking or biking
great short walk to see such a stunning trestle. there are outhouses at the parking lot, and on the other side of the trestle. the parking lot is just off the road on the way there, don’t follow google maps all the way or else you will have to turn around. only downside, ignorant dog owners leaving there dogs full bags along the side of the trail
Gorgeous
Great place to cycle to from Glenora. 13.5 k one way.
Very historic and a great hike
Nice walking path
Absolutely gorgeous, a 1km walk to get there from the parking lot, but so worth it
Cool stop! No shade along the walk so bring sunscreen and water.
Worth the trip out, amazing peice of history!
Beautiful old trestle! Amazing little walk. Easy to do for any age. Trestle is stunning.
What a place! This old train bridge was converted into walking/biking path. Breathtaking views all around. There's around 300m from the parking lot and around 1,2km for the same on the other end what makes it a great walk through the forrest. Make sure this is on your to-see list while around.
Excellent. Very little noise.
It was a decent walk and beautiful trail.
Great little walk to the trestle. On your way there grab some rocks to throw from the top but make sure to look for people before you throw them. Don't be stupid
Beautiful! Nice 15-20 minute walk to the bridge. Such an impressive structure. Enjoyed the river for awhile too.
Easy hike up to the trestle abd an impressive view. Well worth the time to visit
Absolutely gorgeous place to go for a walk. There is so much to explore and so much to see, you will always have a good time visiting the Trestle. It is a wonderful place for photography so don't forget your camera. Go for a healthy walk and take a break by dipping your feet into the water. What a great time.
Awesome ????
The 7° curve is worth the trip
Lived in Victoria all my life, finally made it to see the trestle. Lots of hiking. A cool breeze down by the river was a win
Short hike in along railway right of way. Geocaches along way too. Fantastic structure with lots of history attached to it
Definitely check this out when visiting Victoria! Very kid friendly, not a super long walk (flat, gravel) to get to the bridge, but give yourself some time.
Had an amazing day here, we came before but it was getting late and too dark to see anything thru the camera. Today we lucked out because there were about 4 cars in the lot and we passed two couples coming back so we almost had it all to ourselves. We took the lower path next to the trestle and go some good pics, by the time we were done everyone had left and we got some great pics. Small hike to the trestle on a clear pathway, just remember to keep you animals close by as there are several properties around the park with no trespassing signs.
Nice family friendly walk it quick bike
A beautiful family hike and great picnic area.
Nice short walk from the north side parking lot 300 meters and nice picnic area
Nice place to go for a walk. Great scenery
Easy walk for parents with kids. There's a path down to the water which is nice. Really easy hike.
Just beautiful
Trestle itself was ok, the hikes nearby are excellent
Well maintained trails, great for all ages.
Visited on a warm but foggy afternoon and it was stunning
Awesome views and swìming hole on the river.
A great day in the sun. This is a perfect walk from the parking lot. The sun made the day hike a perfect day. Lots of good posters showing the history.
Beautiful!
Easy walk. Beautiful view...
Well done restoration
Very interesting part of the Cowichan valley's history! Definitely worth checking out!
Nice 1 km walk. Lots of history
A nice level walk in to the site: approximately 1 km of wide gravel path. The trestle itself is impressive with an interpretative pavillion at the far end. Yes, it does have a porta potty for those "calls of nature". One of the most fascinating thing we enjoyed was the dozens of Violet Green Swallows swooping back and forth catching insects. We had a very enjoyable afternoon bird watching and learning a little bit of history:)
Excellent place for a nice walk or hike. Stay on the main trail and visit the trestle or expand your experience and branch off into the many small trails surrounding the trestle both further up or down below along the river.
Beautiful views & a great place to go for a walk.
It can get a bit busy in the small parking lot. The walk to the tresle is 1km, about 15-20 minutes. You are able to bike there also. The trestle itself is really cool and has a ton of trails that go around it. It also had picnic tables and some good information on the history! Great for families and animals!
So cool and amazing history
Pleasant walk from the parking lot to the tressel, even, easy path. Tooks us about an hour in and out, we took our tine and strolled enjoying the surroundings. Strollers and wheelchairs could have difficulty getting passed a gated area. Stunning views from the tressel and lookout. There is a little information hut, very interesting info and pictures from the past. It was fairly busy, plenty of excited tourists and some hikers and bikers going into more difficult trails. Very excited to go back and explore the advanced trails.
A nice 20 minute walk to the trestle, great with the family.
Absolutely gorgeous views very nice walking trails
You need to see it... To Beleive it!
Easy walk from the parking lot. Beautiful restored train trestle with a very nice view all the way around.
Love the Walk and The sights along the way
Been here once I would love to go again
Beautiful hike
Beautiful location with a great piece of history. Bit of a drive on bumpy roads from the Cobble Hill side but definitely worth it
Great ride
Very pretty! Easy walk
Amazing place.
Great piece of history well preserved and on the Trans Canada Trail
One of the island's best historical sites, so beautifully restored to witness the past glory.
What a neat spot in a unique area.
Very easy stroll on a gravelled path. Awesome views from the trestle.
Very well organized attraction. Wheelchair accessible. Impressive views from the bottom and stunning views from the top. Nice trail along the river with emerald green waters.
Absolutely beautiful!
Probably one of the best go-to places on the island for an easy fix of BC's history, nature and industry. It's a super quick walk from the parking lot and it's all flat (since it was an old railway track). Every guest I've had that's stayed a while has been taken up here and it's always their most favourite thing! love it!
I go here very often for walking with dog or family. A must see place for new visitors too!
An easy place for a walk. Flat, wide gravel path can easily manage strollers. Best to hit it midweek or a wet day to avoid the crowds
Very easy hike with breathtaking views.
Great so see, lovely piece of history
Love old world construction or a nice walk in the woods, this is an amazing day trip.
Incredible site! Well worth the drive to see it. Took a picnic and sat down on rocks in the river below the bridge. I’m going there again, going to cycle across the up to Lake Cowichan and back.
Recommend highly. I mean come on its a refurbished train trestle bridge! Note: Google may say to continue driving past the parking area. Enter the obvious 'Trestle parking' on the right and walk up the 1km to the bridge...we got there just as sun was setting just perfect... The pathways below didn't check them out but they look really good too.
Just a great place to hike to amazing
Great location to go on a hike. If you are in the area this is a place to check out. Not too far from Victoria.
Sweet place to stop by. Very easy trail as it's the previous railroad. Wide trail and a few smaller ones that branches out and link with the provincial park as well. Few spots/pools to go down to the river and have a swim on a hot day (beware of strong current). You can spent an hour there or a few hours. Up to you. Very easy quick drive from Victoria as well.
Awe-inspiring to know trains use to cross this structure. Arrive early if you would like to beat the little crowds. Be prepared for about a mile or so walk, but you'll be greatly rewarded with this magnificent structure.
Really nice spot. Kids loved the walk. Great for short bike ride and kids.
This is a different place than other places I've been to. There isn't much of a spectacular view but I would still tell others to stop here. From the parking lot I walked one km. Little to none elevation so this trail is enjoyed by everyone. There is a river down below and lots of trees. Got a rain forest vibe from this place.
This place is ecstatic and good for low difficulty hikers to enjoy trail and river. Good picnic site and enjoy this Victoria's history.
Beautiful walking trail up to the trestle, it really is an awe-inspiring structure. There are lots of lookout points where you can enjoy the beautiful view
Great place for a family hike, spectacular views
It's a nice little walk, and there is an awesome sushi place near by. Definitely stop there after working up an appetite.
A beautiful area to walk and the trestle is amazing.
Great walk for the kids. I can't wait to go back in the summer and picnic.
Graet nice place for afternoon walk
Nice place, good views. Pretty busy as usual these days.
Quite an experience to walk in a rainy day.
This is a beautiful piece of history. A lovely walk and gorgeous trestle. Treat yourself to a walk off the beaten path to dip your toes into the cool clean river .
Amazing????
A great walk for the family, with spectacular views once you reach the trestle.
Nice walk and beautiful view.
Interesting place .
You can feel the history and the energy of all that wood
Visually stunning, technically ambitious
Amazing place.
This is a really beautiful place. The information boards are informative. A great place for a day trip.
The engineering that went into building the trestle years ago is very impressive
Very cool to see. Easy to get to, quite accessible.
Beautiful river running below it that you can get down too and it's only 1km from the parking lot
Great place to go for nature walk
Fun little walk/hike, depending on what paths you take. Great view from on top of the trestle, as well as from the river.
Very impressive walking over the trestle. If you're afraid of heights this may not be for you. There are trails down to the river which is a great place to cool off in the summer.
Very cool place to see if your in the area.
Cool spot with a beautiful view.
Kinsol is a classic if youre looking to do a little hike/trail in Shawnigan lake. Lovely trail easy for walking or biking. The water level has gone down since i was there a few years ago but theres still a river underneath it. The trails down closer to the water are very nice. A great place to bring your dog theres fences almost everywhere around the water.
Great place for a walk or cycling
Beautiful national historic building structure in Vancouver island. And world highest wooden trestle.
amazing reuse of a historic train trestle.
Great little walk and a beautifully restored relic!
Great place for a scenic walk
Excellent hike and a great place to relax.
An easy walk to see an amazing site!
Beautifully restored trestle. Very impressive. Gorgeous surroundings. Easy walk in. Good parking. Free
Amazing sight to see!
Great bit of history with information boards posted about the restoration as well as original construction. Suitable for all ages. Flat walk, but I'm not sure whether a regular wheelchair could access it, as it is unpaved.
Worth it! Accessible and not too crowded.
Well maintenanced stroll.
1km walk from the parking lot to the trestle. Kids can run free there, they loved the view - and so did we! Washrooms at the parking lot and again just passed the trestle.
Beautiful area with trails across and below it. I ran there and it was wonderful. Very clean and could run forever! Highly recommend stopping by!
Great place for a ride
It's a bit of a trail before arriving at the trestle, so bring a stroller for the little ones. Stroller and wheelchair accessible. There's the option to go down to the streams too, but it's steep with lots of rocks and on foot.
Definitely a place to check it out when visit the island! Short walk from parking (1km) and astonishing view from the top of the structure. It has a little trail that go down and under the structure just take care in snowing or raining days can be slippery!
ok , everyone needs to hike or bike this trail , very cool. Awesome scenery.
Beautiful place. Great views
Nice walk into history
Beautiful to visit
A top notch hiking destination near Duncan! Stunning views, beautiful scenery, and a well maintained path make this a great place to start a hike in the BC woods.
Nice short hike on well maintained, flat trail.
A must see in the Cowichan area. Truly spectacular views of the Koksilah River and trails for everyone from kids to serious hikers to folks with special needs.
When cycle touring the south side of the Cowichan river trail you will find that 2-3 km before and after each trestle is good smooth hard pack gravel , but everywhere else is the trail that the builders ignored. Pot holes, loose gravel, fallen trees, washouts and you spend your ride looking at the trail ahead to avoid objects instead of looking into the forest or the slash on the side? Relatively boring trail on the south side of the river . North side is 12' wide and smooth from Duncan to Cowichan lake town site. Well, having done both sides of the river trails , if I was to see the trestles again I would stay on pavement till I got to the parking lots.
It's a good 15 minute walk to the trestle. To really appreciate the size of the bridge, you should take the time to walk down the trails to the river and see it from below. There are picnic areas and other trails, so expect to spend some time exploring.
Great family outing. Safe, 2km walk and very interesting. To get down to picnic areas and the river is more difficult, but the trail to the trestle is smooth fine gravel. Given the family aspect, normal toilets and more parking would be great.
Nice walk or bike ride with the Tresle as the goal.
Worth the walk.
Fascinating piece of history. Amazingly engineering and a very pleasant walk. North car park very convenient although it does involve a few km drive along unsurfaced roads.
Fantastic site with a hike to the Trestle. Very well maintained and a dazzling view. Good photo place.
Fabulous highlight of the Cowichan Valley Trail network. 1km easy walk from the parking lot. A must see when visiting the Cowichan valley. Bathrooms are porta potties, so you may want to go before you go... or come prepared.
Beautiful. Great hike and very easy and flat..great place for a picnic.. The trestle is a work of art.
Great walk. Thank you TCT! Lovely to see the Tressel restored!
Absolutely beautiful. A hidden gem on Vancouver Island.
A very nice park with a great view. This place can get busy though so come early during peak season.
Very nice wk, easy as well. Approx. 1km from the parking lot will have you walking across an expansive, old, wooden train bridge no longer in use. Far below is a fast flowing river. It's high and might not be advised if you have a fear of heights. Paths will lead to the water below.
Great for a nice walk
Nice area. Short bridge trestle that has been renovated.
I love this place! It's one of our favorite places on the island to go for a walk with our kids!
A beautiful place to explore, 10/10
Super beautiful and peaceful
Nice place to get out and visit with nature.
Love this place!
Beautiful place but get ready for a good walk!
Go for a hike now. The bridge is amazing.
Short hike from the parking lot to this spectacular trestle bridge. Was once for a train but now is part of the Trans Canada trail.
Sporty spot. Good fun and a pretty wild ride if you climb the wooden cross braces.
The kinsol trestle is a fantastic landmark, a real feat of engineering in a beautiful location. It's a short walk from the nearest parking lot or it can be included as part of a longer hike involving the Cowichan valley trail. There's plenty of information on the restoration of the trestle at one end of the structure and there's access to the valley below so you can get close to the base and really see how it's put together.
Nice short hike from a parking lot. Our three and four years old made it easily. Also easy for parents with strollers.
Beautiful reconstruction. Enjoyed the short walk
Easy hike to do. The view is great
I first visited this historic trestle 55 years ago. It was an active railroad bridge then, with no hand railings and spaces between the ties. Now it is restored and part of the Cowichan River Trail system and very safe to visit. There is a 3.4 kilometre round trip walk from the parking area to the trestle and back on a gravel path.
A great excuse to get outside, explore some history and get exercise.
Great place to walk. Easy trail over the trestle or hike off into the bush.
One of our favourite family places in Cowichan territory. Beautiful walking area. The bridge itself is quite a marvel but the trail is even better if you want a nice long ride on a gently sloping bike path we start at the Kinsol trestle and ride North or South for a long ways and back. Highly recommended spot to visit in all weather.
Such a magnificent experience. A must try! I could easily bring my stroller and the whole family could manage the walk from the parking lot to the trestle. A great family outing. Amazing place to snap photos.
Great hike. Not too long.
Steep slopes to the water but tons of fun
Such a beauty landmark.
So much fun!
Lots of little offshoot hikes, geocaching, and of course the incredible view!
Beautiful and easy hike. The trestle was an amazing view.
An amazing piece of history, totally revamped! Make sure you go in the fall so you can walk in the creek bed. Great place for pictures.
Super nice Trestle. Great for all ages. A bit of a walk on dirty road... not sure if it would be suitable for wheelchairs. Picture by #Aklimages
Gorgeous old train trestle. Really interesting angles for photos etc.. If you are motivated and adventurous enough, climb down for a dip in the river. There were even crayfish to catch if you can!
Well maintained trail.
Such a beautiful, historic place. There should be a few caution signs when it comes to walking down to the water but all in all it's gorgeous!
Beautiful spot to see and explore. Flat enough for bikes or just a great place to walk and hike.
So fantastic and a lovely easy walk to get to the bridge.
This bridge was burnt and underwent an extensive repair/rebuild. They have done a wonderful job with trails, picnic tables, outhouses, and lookouts. Recommended family outing
Very easy hike with a nice reward at the end. Seriously, my grandmother did it with her walker!
One of the tallest free standing timber rail tresle, nice views and we had a great time with our family and friends. The hike was just 1.2km and good.
Nice short walk
Would be cooler with trains
Fantastic place for a day hike. We brought a group of young kids with us and it was fine, the hike from the parking lot to the trestle is flat and not too far.
From the parking lot, it is level and a wide walkway to the Trestle. Located at the end of the Trestle, there is a riverside picnic area. All ages, strollers, bicycles and dogs (on leash) share this amazing walk. I once saw a fellow in a wheel chair with his family. Although it is a gravel path, he said it was well worth it. Historic, incredible and beautiful! Enjoy!
Pretty easy 15 minute walk
Amazing historical place. Nice view. Good place for hangout with friends and family.
Interesting walk into trestle tracks/bridge. Treed, peaceful, wide, gravel path in to bridge crossing. Magnificent expose of trestle construction. Not bad dog walk. Would be difficult for disabled to get to bridge as the path is uneven gravel. Fresh, green, meandering paths, some signage, an hours walk and some intrigue. Pack a picnic-a few tables available. Riverside walking trails available. Excellent historic information.
Cool bridge
Love the trestle. What a fantastic restoration project. Great attraction for visitors. Wonderful!
You have to go down to the water. It's definitely worth it
Huge trestle, surrounded by well-defined trails, that is a great destination year-round!
Nice easy walk. Cool trestle! Have to come back w the bike and go further. Very well done and taken care of.
Great to see the nature and go for Great walk
Good food. Seems to be busy mostly. Service is a little slow because of lack of staff.
Beautiful walk... Neat hike to the bottom of the trestle.
Breathe taking????
A short hike to a great view of amazing early engineering.
I personally love this walk, it's very peaceful. It's all flat from both parking spots I've been too, unless you want to go to the bottom of course. Beautiful views
Beautiful historic site. A must visit if your not afraid of heights. Well maintained trail and easy walk to the Trestle. There are trails below for those who can manage the decent. Great view of Koksilah River.
Fall is the best time to visit this place with some eye catchy foliage and ideal weather. Quite a picturesque place to spend an afternoon.
Easy walk into bridge. Stand in awe on this well preserved piece of our heritage.
Such a beautiful place
A nice and easy walk. The information presented on the signs is easy to read.
A short hike not for anyone with vertigo. Interesting artifact of Vancouver Island's history
The best trestle I've been to on the island
Really great walk! Stroller accessible for those who want to know ! Beautiful nature ????
Kinsol Trestle isn’t really much of a hike, even when you venture down to the river and back up. It’s more of an enjoyable walk with great views. However, I absolutely love the design of the structure, and the colour of the wood. For me, part of the fun of going there is getting to take some pictures of this magnificent piece of architecture that I can look back on later and appreciate all over again. ⠀
Breathtaking experience, very cool, if you don't know the history behind the trestle check it out.
Easy wander down a wide gravel path. Breathtaking view and interesting information about the trestle.
Visited February 22. A few trees down across the trail to the trestle after a snowstorm. Well presented information centre on the west end of the bridge. Nice solid surface to bike/walk on, with great views of the Koksilah river.
Nice scenic, short walk and well maintained path
Great trails and picnic areas. If you sit for 15 minutes, try to count the number of birds you see! Even owls swooping down to the river!
Amazing!
Great trail biking with lovely views.
Great spot. Beautiful, fun little place to play down by the river.
A fantastic slice of local history; this trestle, which spans the Koksilah river, was used by steam trains hauling logs out of the forest to local sawmils for decades. in recent years it was rebuilt structurally and the old train track line was replaced with a wide and stable walking platform. The trestle is an integral part of the "Great Trail" and is open to hikers, peddle bikers and horse-back riders. There is a very nice, rustic cedar pole construction that serves as a covered resting/picnic place at the top of a great trail down to the river starting from the north end of the trestle. The trail is a little steep, but has plenty of switch-backs to minimize this. The trestle is approximately a one kilometer hike from the south parking lot and just over 300 meters from the north parking lot, but the path is wide, level and even. My wife has mobility issues (walks with a cane) and takes many rest stops, but this is one of her favorite walks. PLEASE, remember that your dog must be on a leash. Dogs just LOVE my wife and she has been knocked to the ground several times by friendly animals.
Great place, well maintained and clean.
An easy 20 minute hike or a 5 minute bike ride from the parking lot to the trestle and well worth the drive from Nanaimo.
Wondee views. A beautiful place for a walk
Cool bridge, good hike
Great walk to the tressle and wonderful views!
Beautiful Trestle definately worth the visit.
Amazing!
The sense of history & scale is amazing.
Fantastic historical site on van islle
Super easy trail and lots of other trails around the area. Got there pretty early to beat the rush of people but the surrounding area around the bridge is great too with the river nearby
This is a top walk in the region and is worth every star. The restoration is amazing.
Very short 10 minutes walk to the Trestle.
I have been trying to get here on my trips to Victoria but it has never worked... This time it did. Enjoyed it! Worth the wait. Easy walk to the bridge
Beautiful views
Interesting place to visit. First time for me.
Beautiful old trestle from 1918 fully restored
Took a nice walk and skipped on the rocks by the river
Great little park for a picnic or pitstop. The tressel is about a 10 minute walk from the parking lot
Beautiful!
Nice walk in and back. There's a great trail underneath the Trestle. I wasn't prepared for the hike and had only went about 2km in. I will go again and follow the trail a bit further down
An easy walk from the parking lot to the trestle. It has been redone to make it easy to walk on and enjoy the views. Unlike other trestles in the area the rails and ties are no longer there and it makes it easy to walk or bike across the trestle. Great views along the way and you can hike down to below the trestle for a view or, in warmer weather, a swim in the river. Enjoy. It's worth the visit.
Great long trail. Open and beautiful. Swimming areas you can spend all day here.
Highly recommend easy family walk.
Beautiful and quiet, we head here for early morning walks with nature.
The walk to get to the bridge was a bit longer than I expected, but it was totally worth it! The structure is very sturdy, and most importantly, it looks very sturdy; so there is no reason to be concerned if you are afraid of heights. The views from the bridge are amazing, and you can look down at the roaring water far below and it is beautiful. Great spot to visit with family, and a must-go tourist attraction when visiting Vancouver Island!
Amazing place! Easy access to the trails above and below the trestle. Perfect for walking or riding bicycles. Beautiful views.
Do visit this amazing place.
The hike was relatively short on a gravel road, the trestle was cool, but not all that great. The real appeal was being able to hike down to the idyllic stream below and wade in the water on a hot summer day.
Lots of history and great engineering
Nice short hike for all ages and abilities. Awesome views and history. Good for kids.
Great place for a hike. The kids really enjoyed the paths around the trestle.
A highlight of our trip to Vancouver Island. Loved the nice relaxing hike to the Kinsol Trestle bridge. Amazing structure. Definitely worth stopping for. The roads to get here are quite windy so take it easy driving.
Great views and trails are easily accessible. Lots of picnic tables to have a snack while admiring the view
It is rather boring to get there but the river hike is awesome. The bridge takes your breath away...
It's a perfect place to go for a family walk!
If you're on a journey and fancy stretching your legs, then why not venture down to the Kinsol Trestle. It's quite spectacular! One could stand on top, breathe in that fresh, Canadian air and not get bored for a good two-six minutes.
Most beautiful place. Great walk.
Really fun hike to this neat bridge. We also hiked to the bottom on the far side. I'm scared of heights and this didn't bother me at all. Liked the lookout points and historical photos.
Amazing example of a trestle bridge. The walk to it is well worth it. It’s in a beautiful setting. I would recommend coming here if you’re in the area. The unique thing about this trestle bridge is that it is curved and very high up. It’s really cool.
Great place to take photos, good hike, and river is cool! :^)
Nice easy walk, interesting history
Beautiful trestle nestled amongst the forest. I'd give it 5 stars but as someone who struggles to walk, I found the parking too far away.
Really nice place, as long as you aren't afraid of heights...
Beautiful views from this century old bridge
Have been going to Kinsol Trestle for many years, even before the restoration. Love that you can walk the length of the bridge now. We always make our way down to the water and walk the rocks.
What a great monument to the history of the area. Only thing to make it better would have been a train chugging along with load of logs behind
amazing experience
Beautiful hike, photographie session and rock hunting down below.
Nice and safe trail
Incredible use of lumber and a great spot along the Trans Canada Trail.
Gorgeous expanse amongst the treetops giving a perfect path to enjoy the sights of ???? along the way!
Easy walk in amazing views and safe for kiddos ;)
Great place to take the kids.
Beautiful place
Scenic walk through beautiful nature. So much beauty and an easy walk for anyone.
Nice place to go. Short walk from the parking lot with a great view. Peaceful.
Great views, easy walk (if a bit long), nice history.
A very interesting structure. Displays give an historical context. The trestle is just a part of very good biking and walking trail.
Kinsol trestle is a 1km walk from the parking lot. Part of the galloping goose It's an easy walk except for the snow covered path but there is picnic tables and bathrooms. Views and lookouts Intetesting place. Worth a visit ...
Easy walk, great place for a picnic. The trestle is impressive
A must stop when in the area, a moderate 10 min walk from the parking lot to the Trestle for some wonderful pictures. Definately walk to the stream flowing below to Kool Down.
Awesome hike
You must go there. Here is good at hiking & trekking. We want to go again.
Beautiful history, location and nature walk for the whole family. Level walk, great for biking and hiking at all fitness levels. Bring a picnic!
Outstanding restoration. Must see when in the area. Easy walk, bike and stroller friendly.
This place is really neat. Nice walking trail and a trestle built in place of an old train. Great historical site. A must see if your in the island.
Fantastic views and a great location. Trestle has beautiful architecture
Great fun, nice walk.
Walk in is over hard pack gravel, and can be navigated without difficulty for even those with mobility difficulty, providing they are able to go 1km each way. The trestle provides excellent photo opportunities. There's a toilet at the parking lot and one on the far side of the span. A few benches are found enroute, and a few picnic tables once you get to the trestle.
Fun little area for short hikes.
Very nice and peaceful.
Nice place for hiking. A selfie in that bridge is something you really wants to keep.
Worth the walk.
This is a very nice walk that is wheel chair and stroller friendly. Gravel trail. Good parking and bathrooms. Amazing trestle that is very nicely maintained. Makes for incredible pictures. Picnic tables and some historic information available.
Beautiful, easy walk
Beautiful place
Easy 1km flat walk out. Truly grand and beautiful
Beautiful scenery and a nice hike. Washrooms available, picnic tables so pack a lunch and make a day of it...
Great outing for the whole family.
Very scenic, peaceful, beautiful place to eaknabsnrake pictures
Highly recommended to anyone looking for a unique day trip
Fun place to visit. Beautiful view. My kids lived getting wet down at the river.
An amazing view and an amazing walk. An amazing structure finished in 1920, they ran passenger trains for a short while. Converted now to a walking trail, looking out over the bridge on either side rewards you with amazing views of the river valley.
It is located above the kokilash river and North of shwanigam Lake. Great place for mountain biking and jogging. Will definitely recommend to all of my friends and others.
Great place for a small day hike. A lot of adventures to be had.
This is an absolute must-stop on your road trip. The bridge so immaculate and reminds one of the blood, sweat and tears that would have gone into its construction and use. I’d definitely recommend walking down the hill (I found it easier through the forest area) to the river. The bridge itself and car park/trail access is accessible for strollers, bikes and wheelchairs.
One of my go to's
Beautiful area, especially with some snow.
Gorgeous hidden gem of the Cowichan valley
It's great place go for a short hike and see the great structure. You can even take a stroller to see the trestle. You can go down to see the stream and enjoy the cool breeze in hot day summer.
Beautiful walk, with wonderful options for walked down to the splendid river below. Special place for all fitness levels
Easy walk, great views. The Tressel is definitely worth going to see. Bathrooms are available and the path is easy to bike or push a stroller.
Scenic and lovely.
Beautiful.
This is a great place for walking and cycling. The scenery in fall is beautiful.
Beautiful spot with lots of trails to explore.
An easy 1 km walk to the Trestle from the Shawnigan Lake side. An interesting piece of our Cowichan history. Great way to spend a sunny day.
Easy walk
Nice hike. Good accessible trail.
Very cool to come and see this! Lots of great hiking trails all around to go on and lot's to see.
Great outing with children. Amazing views.
Wide, easy walk in from parking lot at Glen Eagle Road for any age or physical fitness. Path wide enough for wheelchair (and perhaps a buddy to help/push if needed).
Winter just makes much more spectacular. Amazing architecture and history
Lovely relaxing walk.
Amazing to walk across
Great biking trail. Travelled from Kinsol Trestle to Lake Cowichan with kids this summer and had a great time.
I love the Kinsol Trestle and everyone we take there loves it too. Great place for all.
Great walk
Very easy hike and lots to see
Nice trail for a walk. Beautiful view from the trestle.
Nice easy hike for a family day trip. Kids all were thrilled by the Kinsol Tresle view and being able to walk under it. Easy drive from Duncan or Victoria. Lots of parking but due to the popularity of the site can be very busy on the trail, especially with dog walking visitors.
The restoration from a bridge built so long ago is amazing.
Gorgeous! Nicely redone in 2011 its worth the hike to see this beauty.
An absolutely beautiful place with a good amount of benchs and shaded areas during the hotter days. Perhaps some public bathrooms could be put somewhere (or maybe I missed any that are there) but its a must see if you are visiting the cowichan valley!
Very interesting place to visit, easy walk to the bridge.
Worth stopping by. A nice place for a packed lunch
Nice place to hang out with family, easy trail walk to the bridge
What a beautiful site to see. the walk is short and sweet if you do not have much time, otherwise you can go down and all around and enjoy from every angle. I plan to explore when I have more time in the warmer summer months. 10/10 do recommend!
Fun historical place to see. Only 1km from the parking lot.
Nice easy walk in to see the trestle. Some local history and a great view!
Gorgeous old bridge with a magnificent view
Only a short walk and well worth it. Excellent example of a wooden trestle bridge.
Easy trail and interesting from an engineering and construction point of view. The trestle has been rehabilitated with steel trusses. Nice viewing platforms.
A piece of the History of Vancouver Island
Very cool riding bikes on the tressels
Bit of a hike but still a great piece of railway history
Great little hike.
Big bridge. About a 15-20 min walk from the parking lot
Love the nature walk to the restored trestle. Really enjoyed the trails leading down to the stream below the bridge. The water is so fresh and clear!
This amazing structure is well worth checking out. Built in 1920, it is 44 m (144 ft) high and 188 m (617 ft) long, making it t one of the highest railway trestles in the world! The trestle was sadly neglected for many years and nearly lost to a fire but fortunately it was restored in 2011 and is now part of the Cowichan Valley Trail. It is about a 20 minute walk from the parking area.
Absolutely one of the coolest things around.
Super cool accidental find
Easy walk and great views.
Great place to walk and swim on fresh cold river water
AN AWESOME SHORT OR LONG WALK TO AN AMAZING PIECE OF HISTORY
Impressive structure
Very nice walk and cool bridge to visit and learn about
Impressive structure.
Great place for a walk/ride and family picnic on a warm day.
Lovely views from this 13 1/2 story monument to human feats of engineering
A nice destination after a short walk with a visitor from Japan.
Nice hike and great views.
Beautiful old trestle that has a great view
Ok. Nice flat hike
The drive in from Victoria was on paved roads. The parking lot was gravel and there was no charge to park. There is a porta potty type toilet at the parking site with some billboards explaining about the site. The walk to the trestle was about 1 km on compacted crushed limestone over level terrain. It was suitable for pushing a child in a stroller. The trestle itself was impressive from an engineering perspective and suitable for anyone who enjoyed lego or mechano as a kid! There were prepared walking paths to see the sides and under the trestle, too. There was another porta potty and billboards at the far end of the trestle. There were picnic tables, too.
Easy trails and places to have picnics
Nice hike. Very good place to take photos.
Easy to get to and a great engineering structure.
Easy walk. Fun to see the bridge. Fairly busy.
A great place to go for a walk. The preserved trestle is a sight to see.
Nice easy flat walk to the trestle. Then steep climb down to the river. Very nice.
Enjoyed the hike and the history of Vancouver Island Railway system
Excellent piece of history. The refurbishing of this trestle is amazing and wekl worth the hike. Beautiful scenery on the walk .
Very interesting and amazing structure. Nice history of the Trestle. Walking down to the water is easier then coming back which is to be expected so be prepared but the walk is worth the effort. It is a good distance from the parking area but again it is worth it.
Beautiful walk
Amazing!!
Beautiful and easy trail walk
Fantastic views and easy walk path. Perfect for family and biking.
Not a lot of parking but it's an easy walk to the trestle. Moderate walk down to the river from the trestle, little steep but manageable with kids.
Very worth the trip.
A short 1 km flat walk
Excellent view, great historical site. Easy access. Maximum 1 hour required if you are on a schedule. There are however lots of trails and picnic areas if you have a day to spend.
A happy place for me and Kidpups!
Nice place to walk with the family. Educational.
Good views and walks.
Well marked, historically interesting and a great walk or hike. Easy access by dedicated parking lot and great historical background
So beautiful
Lovely place. Great engineering. Nice trail for all abilities.
Flat grade, packed dirt/gravel, wide path that is friendly to all ages and abilities. Also dog friendly! A lovely, easy stroll that you can follow for as long as your heart desires.
Easy flat hike from parking lot. Can climb to river if you like for different view and a bit of added exercise.
Easy walk, great for young kids. Beautiful sight to see, wonderfully restored trestle.
A nice easy walk with an option to go down under the trestle and work a little harder. Good info signs at the start and even better ones at the far end of the bridge.
Fun and safe hike. Good to see some BC rail history
Such a beautiful place to go
Really beautiful place to visit and an easy walk to the trestle from the parking lot.
Gorgeous historic bridge. Over 100 years old! Part of an old railway system. All timber support.
We found this kind of by accident, but it is super cool. A nice easy hike to a super cool trestle. It has had a lot of restoration work done on it. Pathways that lead down to the river, and lots of historical info to tell you about it. Make sure that you check out the market across the road. It's an unmanned one but lots of goodies and a spot that 9s selling some very nice local crafts.
Beautiful place. Would've explored more if we had been in better company. Under the trestle there are little paths and trickling waters that my husband and I will explore on our own at another time.
Easy walk to a wonderful structure and vista. Something different and soext.
Excellent day hike for leisurely stroll. Trestle is impressive from above or below. Creek is crystal clear refreshment for all. Bring snacks .
Short easy walk to the tressel, lots of side trails to explore.
Awesome morning walk, great view from trestle.
Great walk fantastic views a must see
Incredible view and a remarkable part of history. So worth checking out.
Awesome 5 minute walk from north side off Riverside Rd Cowichan Station Cowichan Valley
Excellent hike and great way to spend an afternoon
Its dizzying and just really cool. Totally worth checking out. I was also pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the valley and river were.
Absolutely breathtaking
If you're on the island a great small hike. Beautiful scenery.
Worth a visit
Worth the walk in and stop and read about the history. If you're going their for photos, go early I the morning for sun rise to get the best light or sunset for the light setting on the other side.
Wonderful scenery, very clean, great for a leisurely stroll or a brisk walkm
Well worth a visit
Lovely bit of history in an outstanding wild setting.
The trestle is a twenty minute walk down a level, well maintained path. Good views from the trestle.
So Beautiful here
Beautiful view of historical site.
Nice walking dogs are allowed there too
Wow, the multi use path and the tressel, beautiful. Bikes next trip
Easy walk with well groomed paths, excellent views and really nicely restored.
Trails are incredible to walk or bike on. Nice and wide and fairly flat. Trestles are awesome!
An amazing place all year round. I have gone 5 times and all the people I brought had the same amazing feeling. In warm days it's nice to go down to the river and enjoy the sound of the water and the light through the poles
Short walk on groomed trail to witness beautiful old-school craftsmanship and engineering... A must stop for anyone from the island and beyond.
About 1/2 nice walk...people were in bathing suits down below...nice spot
Amazing views, nice 1 km walk to the trestle, the trestle itself is an impressive feat of engineering, and if you have the time to explore the area along the river there is an awesome trail to hike on. Definitely worth visiting!
Just a beautiful place. Bit of a walk from the parking lot. Great hike.
A gem!
Well maintained area nice scenery
The 2.5 mile walk from the parking lot to the far side of Kinsol Trestle, and back, is suitable for all ages. The trail is wide, flat, and well maintained. There is a single wheelchair accesible washroom at the parking lot. Bring your woofies, they will love it too.
Information about the trestle was very interesting and was an amazing hard job to complete.
A fun and easy walk/ hike for all
A great place to hike around. The wooden Trestle is a magnificent structure to see. You will have a little bit of a walk in, but is worth it. The bridge stands 44 meters high above the Koksilah River. Bring a picnic and make an afternoon visit.
Very historic. Cool trestle. Great biking trails
So beautiful to look at.
Great place to stop if youre doing a day trip from the mainland, definitely did not disappoint
Great historical attraction. Amazing views of the trestle from above and below. Nice walk in and a gorgeous valley.
This is a must do, if you are in the area. They have done a remarkable job of restoring the trestle after years of neglect. It is a short, easy walk from the north side parking lot. The co-ordinates for the north side parking area for a GPS or map program are: 48.67215 N, 123.69603 W (Decimal), --or-- 48° 40' 19.74" N 123° 41' 45.71" W (Degrees, Minutes, Seconds )
Such a historic landmark! Incredible workmanship for that era!
Easy walk to see part of our local history
Absolutely stunning. Worth the small walk!
Beautiful walk not matter what time of the year it is.
Restored historic wooden bridge, picknick area, hiking, views
Smaller parking lot, amazing view no loop walks.
Fantastic, was amazed at the beautiful structure.
Great spot to enjoy lunch after a walk or ride along the accompanying trails!
It really is a cool experience! Make sure to not wear slippers here as it is a gravel road. And must bring water here!! It can get hot really quickly. (lack of shade! Especially in the afternoon time)
A wonderful pit stop on The Great Trail. Outhouses, picnic tables and an lovingly restored trestle. The trail is good for walking, running, cycling and can be part of a longer trip from Victoria to Cowichan.
Fantastic views
Great bridge to walk/bike/run across.
Absolutely beautiful.
It was a bit of a hike but well worth it.
Beautiful old railway bridge now a walkway and trail
Lots of parking, well maintained walking path, clean toilets. I was impressed as some places don't keep up with the upkeep.
It was an amazing revelation o Vancouver island history that we had never new existed. The work that has been to restore is awe inspiring. And the scenery around is so untouched and beautiful. It was truly a walk back into history.
Great place for a short walk with kids, great views and a bit of history.
Good walking!
such an amazing place to visit. a must if you're in the shawnigan area
Nice walk out to a old converted railway trestle bridge that is now part of the Trans-Canada trail network.
At first I was skeptical about the Trestle. What can a trestle offer? Turns out, quite a bit!! The Kinsol Trestle was used for trains long ago. After that, it was completely changed into an attraction. There are many really nice trails all around the trestle and I think it is difficult to get lost, partly because you can see the trestle most of the time. So from the parking lot (there is one on each side of the trestle) you have a short walk to the trestle - which is very long and very, very high up! The trestle iteself is super solid, and lovely to walk on - quite wide and safe. There are little viewpoints along it, so you can see down and out into the forest and water. So there are lots of photo ops! The trails are fun to walk and because there are numerous trails, you don't run into tons of people. You'll certainly see lots of people, but it is a nice experience!! You can go down to a stream, which was crystal clear and so picturesque!! You can take bikes there and if you have kids they will have an absolute blast!! Adults will also have a blast!! The construction of the thing is marvelous to see, and the nature surrounding it is lovely, too. It's a nice morning or afternoon activity!!
Nice afternoon stroll
It’s a beautiful piece.
Great place for a walk even in a light rain!
History at its best.
Outstanding dog walking venue and breathtaking views of the gorge and mountains in Cowichan Valley
Very pretty very clean path
Cool place.
Visitor from the Philippines here and this place can be compared to Capilano Suspension bridge if only it is developed further. Walk was easy although visitors should bring their own drinks and food since there are no food stalls nearby. Could have given 5 stars if not for the underdevelopment. But maybe that is the way the place was decided to be. Well, Capilano is privately owned while this is Government owned.
Great place to share with guest from out of town
Nice little walk, interesting site
What an amazing structure! Breath taking.
Nice little walk
Very nice view! An easy walk down to the tressel which is beautiful to see.
My first visit! A nice easy walk to the trestle. Spent lots of time exploring and taking pictures. Would go back again!
Lots of trails great walk
Worth the drive
Amazing view and well kept trail
Been here many times but it never fails to impress! The magnitude of the trestle and the Kolisah River is amazing. Love this spot!
Beautiful place to go
Great little stop to make. Short hike to the trestle. Lots of great picture taking opportunities.
5 Stars for sure! We took our bikes, 3 hr bike ride, my family loved it!!
Stunning.... brilliant project!!
Had a great time at the trestle! Got their early around 830 and it was awesome! Super close walk from the parking lot and great views!
Fun place to walk
Easy 10 minute walk on level ground to the trusted from the parking lot. Beautiful trestle. Worth the visit. North end of Shawnigan lake.
Gorgeous hike and the Trestle is amazing ????
Amazing work and Thankyou for keeping it in a state for generations to continue to experience and enjoy. A big part of the islands history! And the view!!!!
Fantastic old structure. Worth the visit. Amazing they used to run loaded trains over these things.
Totally worth driving. Awesome structure.
Great historical site and beautiful walking trail.
A must see
Nice little hike, nice views...
Easy trail, wheelchair accessible. Absolutely stunning views. The hike is about 15 minutes from the parking lot to the trestle on a flat well kept path.
Love this place, good trails, well kept!
Was nice to visited, but the bathroom facilities were an absolutely disgusting horror . It being a public park you would think they would have maintained the outhouse/bathrooms better, it was absolutely disgusting. It wasn't a nice way to start the adventure! The train trussell had a beautiful view, it was a very pleasant bike ride but the washrooms put a negative spin on the adventure :( .
Super easy walk to an amazing structure
Excellent biking trails
This is an absolutely beautiful trail. The trestle is breathtaking and has been upgraded with new trails & lookouts. Well worth the trip.
Lovely, easy, flat walk. Port a potties available at the start of the trail. We were more impressed by the trestle then we had expected. Disregard how google says it closes on certain days, I don’t see how that can be. It’s completely open.
Bring a bathing suit and water shoes! So nice to spend time in the water.
Historic scenic wood trestle. Pleasant hike.
Love this hike.
Great sightseeing stop. Easy walk. Went in the afternoon. Enjoyed the shade. Would take my bike next time.
Loved it
Very cool tressel
