There is nice walking and biking here right along the Grand River with spots that branch off to the shore line. The fishing here is pretty good if you can find a nice spot, usually by wading or paddling. Plenty of species to catch!

Ever want a good place to run. Wiles dam is the perfect spot. You are running on beautiful trails surrounded by nature. Its truly amazing.

Nearby trails offer a view of the river and waterfowl right now as the trees are bare. With temperatures fluctuating the trail can be a little muddy. Regardless all of the trails in the area are in excellent condition for spending time in and around nature.

The Local Explorer

For this Labour Day Monday I walked the SC Johnson Trail from Brant Crossing in the downtown core all the way to Wilkes Dam. It's a wonderful spot with lovely nature scenery. It's a raised walk/cycle pathway surrounded by trees with glimpses of the river now and then. Many other paths intersect along the way to take you back to streets or to other trailways. You can hear the light roar of the water going over the dam as you near it on the path. There is an observation deck area with plenty of seating to rest after trekking all the way here. Currently watching canoeists getting into the water across the ways at a portage spot for a trip down the river. I also discovered a wee Butterflyway Project Garden next to the deck area. Beautiful views of nature all around you at this location. For those who drive to this spot, there is a small parking area available for use and a short stretch of steet parking. There is a #8 bus stop located by Parkside Dr and Lincoln Ave.

In my neighborhood and thankful. Beautiful walk and great biking area. Large deer family in the area that kids can get very close to. And of course, a lot of bright eyed people fishing, walking, biking, bird-watching jogging, etc... .

Great place for a casual walk, some time to yourself or a trail walk. Very active for birds, geese, ducks and deer. I saw people with both bikes and strollers walking the trails. There's something for everyone! Highly recommended.

I love visiting this Dam. It’s on my bike path I take a couple times per week. Good fishing platform as well. Amazing sunsets are viewable here. ????????????????

It is nice little quaint place. We visited it during summer however I can imagine that it would be beautiful to visit and enjoy during winter. You can access the lower portion of dam by climbing down the stairs but I would highly caution young families to keep an eye on their kids. There are no barriers on the lower side of the dam area.

Very scenic unfortunately can be dirty at times. Good fishing spot. Water's pretty deep and can run pretty fast so you need to be careful if you're with children

This was an excellent resting point on the Paris to Brantford rail trail. There are a few benches, or uae the steps down to the river below the dam. Lots of people using this location to fish. Others just use it to play in the shallow water.

Gorgeous little spot to take a quick break while biking along the Hamilton to Brantford rail trail. Quiet and relaxing, some locals trying their luck with river fishing. Would certainly recommend if passing through the area.
