Here you have all the opinions of people like you who are buying the services and products of Bell Homestead National Historic Site (Tourist Attraction) in the territory of Brantford (Canada).
Now the business has a rating of 4.7 over 5 and this score has been calculated on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that it has an average rating is virtually the highest, and it is based on a very large number of feddbacks, so we can be pretty sure that the rating is very credible. If many people have bothered to leave their review when they've done well with the business, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to write evaluations when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Tourist Attraction is included in the category of Museum.
An iconic place to be ... feel the telephone ring ...
Our local Cub pack came out for an evening program and had a blast.
A must see place. Telephones of all types. Doesn't take much time to see everything. There is an entrance fee of 6 dollars per person
As a proud Canadian I love showing this place to others. Bell said that this is where he invented the telephone!
Unfortunately it was closed due to covid. Property is well maintained
A very historic must visit place. Unfortunately not open in week ends.
Niche place to visit, but fun way to explore some local history.
Lots to learn.
My class and I loved our virtual visit to the Bell Homestead!
History speak here for itself, the home of the great inventor of telephone, Graham Bell, a place that makes you feel proud as Canadian and a must visit.
Piece of Canadian history you can't miss! Absolutely worth the trip and we are planning to have a second visit.
The experience was great
Really neat place! Kids enjoyed it, especially understanding the history of the phone compared to what they have now!
The evening I was there, grade 7 and 8 students from Braemar School were acting as guides and interpreters. What a great way to present the various displays. All artifacts were period correct, complete with working models of old telephones and switchboards. Visitors were allowed and encouraged to handle and use many displays. Thanks for a very enjoyable and informative evening.
Great history
Awesome.
Beautiful property with informative tour. Worth a visit even if just to see the gardens!
If you are in Brantford, it may be worth the drive here. There is a gift shop and plaques with lot of information. The barn for some unique photos for 'the gram' is not to be missed
As much as you would expect from a historical site. They could make it a tad less dry though.
Neat old home and property to walk around. Interesting to see how people lived 100-130 years ago
The guided tour is a must do.
I really enjoyed my tour of the Bell Homestead. The tour guide was impressive, and I learned a lot - not just about the Bell family, but also about regular life in the late 1800s. Definitely worth a visit!
One of the greatest Canadian scientists and home of Alexander Graham Bell. Best preserved house, lots of memory and early work on telephone. Tour is great, little shop is cute. Memorable place science lover.
Great guided tour and also self guided tours. Great tour guide, knew her stuff! Worth a little visit.
Gives us an insight into how people lived back then.
It was amazing! The people there will give you a full tour and you get to see how phones changed from the first one made to the ones we have today! It is very interesting, you will not be dissapointed!
Really cool place with tons of history and knowledgeable staff.
Beautiful house coming with nice tour guide, informative visit through the traditional items kept inside the house!
Great place to learn about Alexander Graham bell. Great for school trips
Very nice tour, our guide Deb seemed very passionate about the stories from Bell's era and liked communicating them to the folks on the tour. The house itself is very interesting with a lot of the original furniture and what not being found and kept at it's rightful place in the house. The Henderson house was very interesting as well.
Ahh. No one cares about who invented the phone anymore. Very nice place tho
Absolutely amazing place to visit. Well worth the price of admission. Parking and washrooms available.
We received a reduced rate due to a couple of rooms in the house being closed. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, and pleasant.
Graham Bell is a Scottish-born scientist and inventor. He is best known for inventing the world's first practical telephone. He moved to this house from Scotland. Very modestly built, it is hard to believe that this place became the place where the world-changing telephone was invented. There are tours available, and I highly recommend taking them.
An informative walk through history. Our guide was very knowledgeable and easy to understand.
Stopped in for a coffee and cake. Great service quaint atmosphere lovely fall setting
Very informative. The people at the Bell home were very knowledgeable and experienced and friendly. Totally an enjoyable experience.
It's worth a look if visiting Brantford.
Awesome place to go! I’ve been there twice to bring different family members who come to visit us and it’s also a valuable experience! Highly recommend!
Very interesting visit for anyone with a desire to learn more about Alexander Graham Bell.
Great if you appreciate local history or a general interest in the past.
We had lunch at the Exchange Cafe -- delicious food served tastefully and expertly by Deb. A good time was had by all.
Nice place and interesting history!!
If you like history, this is the place to go. Great tour in costume, kids activites and a sweet cafe. The grounds are well kept. The whole homestead is lovely. Wonderful to meander the whole property.
Enjoyed strolling around the beautiful grounds and reading the plaques and observing the (closed) buildings
Didn't get a chance to actually go in but just being on the outside was super cool
A nice historic place to visit. The house is kept and preserved in pristine condition and tours are available every hour. Apart from being a birthplace of great scientific discovery, the place in itself is a quintessential representation of 1800s architecture and interior design. The oil lamps, light fixtures (though most converted into electric) give a neat authentic vibe, so does a high end step stove in kitchen. Its a must see for science/history fanatics out there as well as everyone else.
Lovely staff and it's so beautiful there. Great history too
Telephone starts from here a must go place with kids
Loved the guided tour so much knowledge from the guide
Beautiful and well maintained. A higgen gem in Ontario and something that needs more exposure and publicity. The tour is informative and amazing. Absolutely a place worth visiting.
We came here since My daughter was doing a school project. The tour guide Jim gave us lots of good information. The experience was amazing, and so historical . We stopped at the cafe for lunch, the soup was delicious. Jim even told us we could call and ask questions for his project. Awesome service! Thanks! (Don’t mind my profile picture.)
Excellent customer service... Love to bring my guest to visit Bell Homestead all the time. Proud to live in Brantford.
Booking a visit is required, fyi
Nice place
We arrived around 4:30pm so only paid a quick visit without any guide.
The Bell Homestead is a fun place to visit if you like history and telephones. I like both and had an absolute blast.
Great historical site
Great spot to check out some important local and national history. Tickets were fairly priced, tours were interactive. Good parking and there is a café if you’d like a snack. Nice way to spend an afternoon.
Beautiful locale, lots of hidden history and some fun facts...
This is a great spot to see and learn the interesting history of Alexander Graham Bell and the invention of the Telephone. There are lots of great period accurate pieces on display, some early telephone and switchboards that are hands on, but the people that work here and guide the tours are what make this place amazing! It is a great time for all ages and very inexpensive. There is also a good gift shop with some cool stuff, and the exchange cafe.
Great place to go and take the kids, another great little piece of Brantford history.
So good to visit this historical place. Enjoyed the tour. The narrator was exceptional. Great time.. Highly recommended. The tour reminded me to be enterprising and persevering. What he worked with was meagre compared to the robust resource at our disposal. So let's drop the idea that all that can be discovered or invented is already done, and that nothing remains for us to explore. We'd be surprised when we keep our eyes open to possibilities.
Amazing place! Would be a great experience for the kids to gain perspective of how life was in those years. The host Addison was great. Answered questions patiently.
Best Place to visit
Quaint find. The sunflower by the shed/barn was a awesome photo op
Well maintained property.Closed these days but well worth getting a tour of the property
Great place to visit. Loved how staff let us know how wise and influential Mrs. Bell was too!
Nice visit, the curator was very well informed and personable. Cool throwback in time, takes about 45min for the tour.
Great historical place.
The guided tour was very professional and informative. The guide was very knowledgeable about the family and the history that is tied to them . I would highly recommend this to everyone visiting the Brantford area.
Great place to visit. Trump should come and learn where the phone was actually invented.
Drove 1 hour to see the muesem was not disappointed great staff beautiful location would highly recommend
We had an excellent tour guide. Loved seeing the home and learning about this amazing family, and seeing the early inventions of Alexander Graham Bell.
Very accommodating and knowledgeable. Unhurried. A pleasant visit! Good food and friendly service at the cafe.
We LOVED the Bell Homestead. The staff was excellent. Why were we not taught in school about all of AGB's extensive list of inventions? Although we were sorry to hear that luncheons have been discontinued. A few of my friends loved the delicious lunches and will be sorry to hear this too. The cook was fabulous, I heard. I was looking forward to having lunch there..
Once you get over the lack of signage in Brantford itself and difficulty in finding this place, it really is a splendid museum. Lovingly restored and beautifully maintained, this is well worth the trouble of finding it. Our tour guide (Brandon) was very informative and pointed out many of the "small things" that helped us understand Alexander Graham Bell and his world, not just the well-known telephone story. Highly recommended.
It was nice the site wasn't actually open but we stopped and looked at the property it's worth a look if your in the area
A shrine to science...It's the home of the great inventor Alexander Graham Bell who stayed here with his parents after moving in to Canada from Scotland. It's here that he invented the telephone. So we owe our luxury of connectivity to this man and yes to Edison to invent the microphone later which helps us talk over call civilly and not shout at top of our lungs. The home is on Tulela lane at Brantford across the River. The home is simple and in midst of nature... testimony to the simple life that propelled the inventor to many patented inventions and led to establishment of Bell communications. A knowledgeable tour to know about this great man.must visit
Took back to history.. Really amazing place. Informative
great place to visit and very beautiful. however, at the time when I visit, it was close due to covid
I called ahead mid-week to confirm opening hours and was told the museum was open that Sunday during the day. We drove 45 minutes out of our way specifically for this museum, and, when we got there, we were told it was closed for a kids Halowe'en event. Despite our best planning efforts, the drive was for nothing. Very disappointed.
Held one of the first telephones ever made. Small displays half hour visit to see everything but quite enjoyable
This place may seem like it is boring but I think that it is very interesting my favorite part was looking at the progression of the phones.
Great place to learn and know about Bell and the invention of the telephone
One of the best must see historic tourist attractions for Brantford. It improves year after year. If you want to learn about the history and impact Alexander Graham Bell made on the world...drop in and take the tour. I will not spoil the surprise!
History of telephone invented by Bell is displayed very nicely.very calm and nice surrounding.enjoyed visiting this site.
Cool little historical spot
What a cute National Historic Site as National Historic Sites go. This is a mini-complex. It's been a museum site since about 1910...who knew. There's the house where Alexander Graham Bell lived. It was originally his father's house. I liked it. You could wander around the various rooms which surprised me. In most museums movement is strictly controlled. The tour guide was very good, funny, friendly and very knowledgeable. The other house had displays of old telephones and an old switchboard. You can also have lunch or a snack in the restaurant. It holds about 30 people. I was there on a Saturday and wasn't busy. Apparently you have to make reservations here weekdays because that's when they're busy. Our waiter was very friendly and eager to please...service was great. OK so my quiche was a tad smallish. It tasted good and the salad was fresh. Prices are reasonable...try it. There's also a cute little gift shop...check it out...again friendly staff. Easy and free parking. The museum is on Tutela Heights Rd in a very nice section of Brantford. Support Brantford and take a quick look at their downtown. They have a great casino there. All in all a very nice visit. We have so few National Historic Sites as Canadians we should visit them & this one is a good one..very interesting. About 2 hours from Toronto via QEW towards Hamilton then the 403.
Staff was amazing. Learned a lot and kept my little ones engaged the whole time. Great way to spend an hour!
COVID review. Unfortunately closed for Visitors. With no date of opening. Very important piece of Canadian history. Can also be used as a tiny park, I mean microscopic. It has a swing from the looks of it belong to Mr. Bell. A commemorative plate presented by Queen Victoria herself. If you are ended up on site. There are multiple apple trees you can get your self a free apple, lol
Plays are performed there and I have enjoyed them very much. It's also a very good historical site to learn about Alexander Graham Bell
Very nice musuem. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the homestead. The musuem is very nice and very good value for the money. The grounds are nice and good to wonder around. The grandchildren had a good time running around. The gift shop is small with a couple of good things but not much else. The cafe is not open on a Sunday which is disappointing.
Very educational, lovely place. Staff knowledgeable.
Reptile show was awesome for kids (weekend before Halloween)
Beautiful trail!
Very nice museum. We had the whole family here as part of our traditional father's day event. We all enjoyed our time here going thru the house and playing on the grounds. The house is well kept and the phone displays are great. Well worth the visit.
We had a very informative presentation by a young guide.
This is a must see when going to Brantford. A visit to this museum ... the house where Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone is certainly worth the trip. How the telephone came to be is truly educational and fascinating. We also learned so much more about the man and his family. Sarah who gave us a tour of the place is amazing with the historical facts and did an excellent job. There is also a small gift shop to buy some souvenirs.
We really enjoyed our visit here again! Things that we had remembered from last time but things that we had forgotten too, were an interesting walk through part of our history. Even the children liked it ☺
