Park has changed alot in the past 15 years. After 2 flooda and haveing to clear all the dead trees. Its coming back to life. I reeber the sout fire oits where aournded by lush grass and then trees grew over and it all died and looked horrible but it seems its going back to the good ol day. The park ia realy fun for kids as the play structer and the train. The gazeebo is good for cooking in :) also a boat launch

It's a nice park. I stopped there to rest a bit and collect my thoughts in the quiet morning air. The park had a blanket of snow to keep the crowds and mosquitoes away, but the river runs by to wash your woes away!

Great place for outdoor activities. Boating, fishing, roasting marshmallows, playing with pets, or allowing your kids to run around the park. We enjoyed the peace and quiet as we fished for a few hours. Very tranquil!

Kids really enjoyed the playstructure, and we had a nice picnic supper on clean, well built picnic tables overlooking the river and rapids at the nicely treed south side of the park. Dissapointed the dock was already gone/gate put up where it was- making launching the kayaks into the assiniboine a muddier experience for myself and the kids than needed to be but was still manageable. Some suggestions for next year to improve the park would be: -Portable porta-potties near the playground. When little kids gotta go, they gotta go NOW! Not hike way up to the existing bathrooms. -Perhaps a remodeling or more upkeep to the existing bathrooms as they were in a run down truck-stop condition but were operational nonetheless. -Planting of a few shade trees near the playground, a few more picnic tables or benches near it would also be beneficial to parents, and give the elderly a place to sit. -A few more garbage and recycling bins through the area to help prevent littering. -Have a grader make a pass or two on the road at the park to fill in the huge potholes. -Enjoyed the use of fire pits- bring your own wood as we could not find firewood there. (Was ok as we burnt lumber scraps from home). -Large open greenspace great for sports, car-shows, kites, and kids to run. -Overall it is a descent park welcoming people into Brandon from first street and with a little improvement, a little more investment it could easily become a great or even fantastic park for the area. Spring flooding in recent years may also factor into development or upkeep of the grounds. -Still recommend this park for picnics, gatherings or a family evening away from the house- great way for kids to "unplug" -"Green-time" instead of "screen-time". -

just some thoughts

Lots of local people go fishing there. I gave it a two because any time I had to use the washroom, if it is open, it wasn't very clean, and also because they need more fire pits. Some nice little spots there if a guy were allowed to pitch a small tent. There is a small play area for kids. The park is right beside the river. If you Just want to kill an hour or so or fish, decent little area to go. I think the city has been doing some work on the place, which is a plus. And it's accessible to people that can't afford a car, and are lower income. all in all not bad to kill a little time.

Playground needs maintenance, access to river is poorly maintained, even at the dock, road is barely upkept in summer or winter. Fishing is ok I guess? It definitely could benefit from some actual thought on the part of the city.
