An amazing experience as always. Love the sound of water crashing down along with the chirps of so many birds. Can get real breezy at night, so would recommend to carry a good jacket.
Water flows over this spillway, it attracts pelicans, geese, seagulls, and amateur photographers.
The sites and sounds of the weir is beyond hearing. To see the wildlife make the weir their home and fishing spot.
Parking available specifically for access to the weir. Walking / cycling pathways extend either direction. A observation deck for watching the water flow over the weir is available. The scene is peaceful and tranquil.
Nice view and peaceful place to hang out.
Train
Interesting place. Watching the pelicans is fun.
Great walking area along the river
Very relaxing listening to the water and watching the pelicans!
Excellent place for a walk with family or friends, great place to relax!
I had heard about it for years, but never made the time. Pelicans fishing and a walk on the CPR bridge. A nice stroll on May long weekend.
The weir is a grate attraction for all people. It has a parking lot that can be very popular a specially on a warm day. It’s also a grate spot for walking running and biking along the Meewasin Trail
Recent development around the weir had made it so much more aesthetically pleasing to walk by. The boardwalk just feels right! Great area to go running, too!
Peaceful place for walk n enjoy nature around u
Beautiful setting...love the walks especially in the evenings with that someone special.
It is really beautiful on a sunny winter day
Beautiful place to go to pass away some time
Listening the running water very relaxing.
Still the same as it was many years ago, would be nice to have some lighting in the area, very dark in the evening
During the summer months you can see the Pelicans feeding at the Weir. It's a great experience!
Beautiful place with high bridge overlook.
Beautiful place!
Dropped someone off for an appointment and waited at the weir until pickup time. Nice little parking lot and place to be.
Great place, had my first kiss with my now wife here. Lacks decent parking, and the fishing is ok.
Is a great place for the family.
Been there often. lovely place for a walk or a date or a picnic.
Pelicans fishing and posing, beaver hidden in the bushes, birds chirping. A relaxing place to hang out with friends and have great talks.
Nice place to walk
Great place to romantically watch water fall over a dated safety hazard. The endless flow of water helps take my mind off the impending march of time. Also pelicans!
There are only a handful of places in town here. This is one of my favorite place to come. Its a great place to come and enjoy with family and friends.
Gorgeous place to take in the beautiful river. I love the sound of the water. Perfect place to relax, walk or run.
Fun place to go!
Ever changing, a great place to recharge your spirit..
A beautiful place to go for a walk on a warm summers evening. If the wind is blowing in the right direction, the mist from the water will cool you down. It can be mesmerizing to watch the water flow over the weir.
The weir is a great place to visit and I highly recommend it. It's interesting to see the birds and all of the plants and animal life coalescing in one area. The Railway Bridge is a great bridge to walk on but you need to be careful and ensure that the railing is secure. There is a special ledge on the stairs leading up to the Railway Bridge that will help you to bring your your bike up on the bridge however I recommend walking your bike on this bridge because there are gaps between the the boards. So the Weir is a very popular place and there is public parking that is free however it is often very busy so I recommend parking on a street beside the weir if you find that there is no parking available. The Weir is nicely situated between the Railway Bridge and the university Bridge so if you just walk past the weir and go up the Railway Bridge heading east then you'll be able to start walking along the path that coincides with the University of Saskatchewan property and then you can walk west on the University Bridge then head north along the meewasin Valley Trail. It's a really nice walk. I think it takes about an hour or so, however you may come across some wildlife. I believe I've seeing coyotes on the east side of the road and there may be mosquitoes.
A treasured spot in Saskatoon! Love going on afternoon and evening walks to the weir.
Amazing views, a great place for a relaxing walk
Such a beautiful spot. I love walking by here. A great spot.
Really cool place to visit both in the winter and summer!
Usually when I visit the weir, I’m also visiting the train bridge, so keep that in mind those of you who are weir enthusiasts. For myself, the weir is a part that is encompassed by the whole of the view of the river, either standing on the path beside it or from up on the train bridge. It is also nice for pelican spotting as they usually come to that area. As one who plays Pokemon Go, the weir is right next to two gyms & a Poke Stop. There is a second Poke Stop, but it is past the train bridge. Not that it’s far to walk to but it is not necessarily connected to the weir. With all of these things in mind, I would give the weir 5 stars. As the weir by itself: 3.5 / 5.
Great place to take photo's, have a nice drink and chill, Highly recommended to go check it out instead of staying indoors! Stay hydrated all summer guys!
Very beautiful and relaxing place to walk with your family. Great birds to see like Pelicans, land gulls, Mallard and other duck species.
Beautiful day. Lots of Pelicans to see and we even got to see some catch some fish which was cool.
Awesome place to take pictures ☺️
So beautiful and peaceful. I love sitting and thinking in that area
Great place for a walk or to have your lunch.
Great View and place to walk
Great spot to check out as well as take a great down the path along the river or bike along the trails plus you'd see some pelicans, geese, ducks & might also see garden snakes here & there ???? ???? which are harmless & not poisoning at all plus trails on thee other side of the river.
Lovely place to walk around. Close parking to allow easy transport of bike, canoe, kayak or whatever else you want to take around the area. Train Bridge is right next to parking area to allow cross over to otherside.
Awesome place especially when Pelicans are there! Or the time ice is being melted you can see some really interesting scenes here! The other day I was watching ice falling from the waterfall( is that a waterfall or what?!) I didn't know ice here is this thick! It was about 30 cm thick! Last year I went here almost every day to see Pelicans and the way day hunt! It was awesome! This river and all nature around it is unbelievably beautiful Ow, I forgot to tell you about the frost during the winter! I’ve never seen such a thing anywhere else! Hope you enjoy it!
Sat in parking lot to regroup and veg.
Just another riverside view.. nothing special
Great view will add photos later
Always a great place to visit for a chance to contemplate and wonder at the power of nature
Great place to spend some alone or even with your loved once. Very calm and quiet
Enjoy taking my work kids there it's such a nice place , so pretty around n great view
Beautiful trails all year around!
Beautiful place to go for a walk and enjoy the outdoors in the city
Very relaxing....close your eyes, listen to the massive volume off frigid winter water cascade over the weor
Relaxing place for a walk.
Trails are well-maintained, perfect for morning runs especially in the summer.
Nice place for jogging, welcome every one
Great place for walk
Absolutely beautiful. I'll never get tired of this view.????
The weir and railway bridge are a great area to relax or exercise in the city core. Great wildlife opportunities here.
Very nice little tourism destination with interesting history of The Weir.
Nice place to go to sit and relax, watch the Wild Life and go for a walk.
It is very peaceful there! The view from the bridge and the lookout point is great!
Very nice place to go for a walk.
So cool to see. A must for Saskatoon visitors
Alexandra Wiwcharuk was murdered here Victoria weekend May 1962 and buried alive. Her killer was never found. I don't like visiting here for that reason.
Don't swin here unless you are antivax or participate in tinfoil Facebook groups
lovely scenery. great for biking and walking to see the view
Great to get down by the river Hearing the birds, water lapping against the ice, the water rushing over the weir, the geese, and the sun so bright!!
Really peaceful, I enjoy watching pelicans, ducks and geese there but I wish there were not many mosquitos there.
Awesome! I had never due to health issues able to walk up the Train Bridge, till today!!
Clear beautiful water this time of year makes for a great view
Always worth a stop when you are out exploring the great mountain bike trail network around Saskatoon!
There is another bright moon, and the end of the world is at this time.
Interesting spot to visit. You can watch some birds catch fish and nice trails nearby.
Was fun untill I was told No Swimming ????
This was very special I am visiting from Chile and this was one of many special places here in Saskatoon.
Nice and relaxing in the heart of the city
Nice place to get freshness... And nice photos. Beautiful place
The sound of water rushing and the fall colors all around. Great place for an in city break, walk and a coffee. Ps great coffee here on 33rd
Checked this place out for other sharks taking a walk... LoL
Nice relaxing area by the river. Easy access to the train bridge if you want to take a stroll.
Love sitting by the river banks and listening to to waterfall and walking across the trian bridge
Saskatoon is beautiful but in summer is gorgeous! Here a clear example! Highly recommended visit!
Picturesque area with nice walking paths. The view from the train bridge is great!
Love this place! A must visit location for Sasktoon. Very scenic with a walkable train bridge and Prairie Lily boat just south of the weir.
This is a very beautiful view looking over the river. In this area is foot paths and fishing spots people visit regularly in the summer. You'll definitely see ducks and pigeons and other birds in the area. There is signs with little historical information about the area as well. It's beautiful place for a casual walk on a warm summer day.
Lots of questions about this engineering project. A great outside attraction on a hot day.
One of the best spots for a walks along the river...nice pavement to make it more enjoyable.
Great views and trails
The weir was sensational, love listening to the water it gives me a sense of peace and relaxation
A little scary to walk through but that's only if you're scared of heights. Gives a wonderful view of the city and river. There is times when the train comes by - it's both amazing and scary! Wonderful to walk through in the early summer and fall. Be ready for pesky insects though - otherwise great place for photo opportunities!
Very good spot to hangout with friends and family for a small party of people. Parking lot located off Spedina for easy access by motor vehicle, bike, and foot traffic. Pretty view of the river with many lookout points and vast number of pelicans can be watched fishing.
A center point along the river in Saskatoon. Many residents come along here for a walk. The pathway here is nice, beware it becomes a minefield once away from here so rollerblade at your own risk. The views are great, wildlife and scenic photos are easy to find here!.
A place to watch birds with the family. Although generally the view is a bit urban.
Nice enough place for an evening stroll. Lots of people fishing. Lots of pelicans to watch in the summer, and also a tame beaver in the area.
What a wonderful way to spend the day! The MeewasinTrail, Train Bridge, Spadina Drive .... highly recommend.
Great place for a relaxing break
Can watch the geese and pelicans fishing.
It's very beautiful. A nice place to take pretty date!
Nice walking trail and the kids love to see the weir. Parking is tight.
It's peaceful. The train bridge wasn't open though, first time ever.
This is the best spot to stop in warmer weather, I love the pelicans. The sound of water is also refreshing. Great rest spot after a long bike ride up and down the river. One of Saskatoons best features.
It's hypnotic the way the water rushes over and is propelled upwards at a point. Excellent.
So much fun great place to check out on your walk
Not matter the time of year, or time of day, the weir is a beautiful spot to check out.
Good views but nothing extraordinary
A great view of the Weir, Pelicans and the U of Sask and Spadina Cres. Nice walking paths and rest areas. Great views from the train bridge lookout.
Enjoyed the trail and most recommend having water on the journey with you.
Great view, great walks, good fishing even.
Pretty cool watching the pelicans herding, then diving for the fish. The baby Canada geese were pretty cute too.
Very peaceful watching the water.
Calming & relaxing place
Always a great view
Awesome view!
Lovely walk along the river and there's frequently birds by the weir.
To be fair..bridge was close to pedestrians due to social distancing. River with too much water to fish at that time. Beautiful scenery though!
It's nice but there's so many creepers around this area.
Great place to relax, fish or take in the river.
Exceptionally pretty at this time of year (autumn). Miss seeing the pelicans, though. Maybe they left early.
Always fun for the kids
One of the few good places to take new visitors to the city.
Nice climb up the rail bridge overseeing Saskatchewan River with the man made step dam
The water, like time itself, keeps on flowing over the edge. One time a cow got stuck in the weir. Its bloated corpse spun and spun, as mothers were aghast and covering their children's eyes.
Heart ❤️ of Saskatoon ????
Absolutely beautiful spot Pelicans show up in the spring and they make it waaàay cooler.
Beautiful look out area. Very relaxing.
Great place to sit back and enjoy the view while drinking your morning coffee
A great morning walk across the railway bridge to see the pelicans.
It is a beautiful piece of urban nature.
Nice spot, very clean
Nature and nurturing your spirit. Everything is calm to be at peace.
So beautiful and relaxing
Wonderful place to be visiting for a walk or bike riding...
Love going there n watch the pelicans feed . Lots of parking .as well .
Beautiful but dangerous. The other half and I took a stroll to the weir and we where both in awe and astonishment. Well not really, we have been here many times before. A young lady on a bike came up to us and offered to take our picture with the weir in the back. My spider sense kicked in and told her, " that's ok, we like our cell phones". She gave me a quizzical look and drove off. Drove off into the sunset like a western but without a horse...
Peaceful walking around there. Like to go down underneath the train bridge, take my shoes/socks off and let my feet sink into the warm sand (on warmer days of course).
Beautiful area in Saskatoon to go for a relaxing walk and enjoy the scenery
Great views of the river and city. The perfect place for an afternoon walk in Saskatoon.
watching the pelicans dive is cool and the rushing water is relaxing
Nice place to walk with wild saskatoon berries as a bonus
Always a nice clean quiet area of the city to enjoy! The pelicans, Canada geese and the river!!!!
Very attractive spot for walks pictures all that... but be aware of limited parking..good luck getting a spot on a good day....is all I'm saying.
Refreshing weather, good river, and my health
Such an amazing place to walk so calm a serene
Beautiful view of the river
A nice place to have a walk, along the Meewasin trail
I love taking my dog for a walk there.
It's quite pretty up the top. Be careful of the steps up during snow or rain, it's slippery.
Nice view and perfect for nature lovers. Nice sunset view and walk across the bridge to the trails.
Always a great place to visit and contemplate the wonder and power of nature.
A nice summer spot to park and view the river. Great place to start a walk.
Paradise for Elegant Pelicans.cant find the pix of Expressive Big Birds.
On of my favs! Love watching the Pelicans!! Beuatiful!!
A great Infrastructure of shared use pathways through Saskatoon’s majestic river valley.
Scenic. Lots of people come by, and there's a chance to see wildlife. Not largely interactive beyond walking/jogging.
A riverside walk is a must-do when visiting Saskatoon. Lots of space for walkers, bike riders and runners. Polite bikers let you know they are approaching by ringing their bells. The Weir is an interesting spot to take a break and the west side, nearest to downtown has some tourist information with interesting historical facts.
Very nice atmosphere and a lovely walkway for viewing the weir. Plenty of seating in the shade. Fun to watch pelicans and other birds. Not a lot to do other than sightseeing.
Gorgeous location, decent little spot to throw a line in. This part of the river has walleye, sturgeon, suckers, and likely more. There's a few decent beach spots here as well. Only recommends would maybe be to avoid the spot late at night and stay out of the water near the weir. There's a lot of current here.
Nice relaxing place for a walk or sit. Watch the penguins or walk across the river on the trsin bridge
This place is pretty WEIRd. lolololol. But yeah, there was some discarded undies on the walkway. For real.
Good place but there was no parking space
The walkway is always a treat with the kids and there were pelicans galore.
It's an amazing place nice a peaceful.
Good place to walk along the river
Beautiful spot in the city
Wonderful area for hiking. If you wanna see the dam clearly, going up to the bridge is a great idea.
A place to sit and linger as the flow of the wier intices you to just watch the penguin, fisherman, train, bikers, dog walkers and hikers stroll by. Parking in your vehicle is available. Bring your lunch and enjoy the outdoors. Benches are nearby to sit and rest. Buy a coffee/ snack or lunch at the City Perk cafe on 7th ave. and venture down to the wier and people watch. A great place to bring the children for a walk and enjoy the colored foliage.
Loved the immense power and the beauty of such a man made element in nature's force of a river. Pelicans are always wonderful.
Always a beautiful view..visited it for over 40 years, and is still as marvelous as the first time I saw it as a youngster.
The weir is a place ive been going to for over 30 years now, way before they gave it a major facelift and basically everything but the weir itself and the train bridge has changed... i love going to the waters edge and take in all of the beauty.
Love it here with a cup of coffee on a nice morning...trails surrounding are great
Peaceful place. Will be better when one of the proposed improvement projects goes ahead.
Great place to come and relax. Enjoy a nice walk near the river. Walk up and across the train bridge. Enjoy the sights of ducks in the water or when the pelicans are here.
Beautiful Place to visit. So many walking paths
The ice melting over the fall is ahhh quite nice.
We watched the pelicans fishing, very entertaining. Try it.
So many memories here. Beautiful views.
Beautiful views from the train bridge...great running paths!
It's the place I go to relax, love it.
only in Winter its stunning!! summer not so much...
Great spot to go for a walk. Bridge is open to pedestrians - note that there is not room to accommodate physical distancing, so be mindful of how many folks are on the bridge before embarking on your journey.
The weir is a saskatoon landmark. Sometimes you can sit and watch dead cows circle the current for hours. Very peaceful.
Always nice when it's cold out
I love it here. A landmark in Saskatoon. Beautiful scenery!
Beautiful view. Great iconic spot for our city.
Amazing place to fish, the river is low so very easy access to the shore along the river
Always a good time on them late nights at the weir
It's heaven... Peaceful, beautiful and clean..
Beautiful walk along the river
I love this place, in the heart city of bridges. Easy parking and pathway along the beautiful River
Loving it here, unwind and see the beauty of this place.
Excellent place to fish in an urban setting if your about that life.
Summer review - Very good, many pelicans, very serene, much to see. Walk up a bridge, look at serene pelicans from up high. Winter review - no pelicans, very cold, less to see. Walk up a bridge, its colder up here, walk back down and go home, warmer there.
One of my favorite spots to just sit and enjoy the sound of water
April to October commune with pelicans.
Had a great time walking along the weir with some friends always a good time when there
Have Fun in the Bike Trail from Weir to Corkscrew.
The kids always have fun coming down to the wier and watching the pelicans. Its a good 10 minute stop on the way by. Great spot for a water break
That water fall looks interesting so much to see there
Beautiful place
One of my fav places to walk to year round. Everyday it's unique at the weir.
Can get pretty crowded in the summer evenings. Took our dog and bikes there and it was just too dangerous. Walking is not bad but still a risk from fast bikes. Always love to watch the pelican and gulls/terns. It is fun to be up on the bridge when a train comes.
Enjoyed walking along weir and train bridge. Saw pelicans fishing which my four year old loved. After I introduced to her the "Pelly" book by David Glaze a local writer. Now she won't quit talking about the Saskatoon Weir
Interesting place to visit. Good for a romantic evening.
Great views and the Pelicans are great to watch even for kids.
Great place to run walk or bike.
People say it’s one of the must sees of Saskatoon. It is beautiful but it’s just a weir.
Amazing engineering, hard to believe they constructed this in the early 1900s
Winter visit and the hoar frost on the trees was awesome.
Great place to walk, jog, or just sit and enjoy the river bank and bird watch.
Such a beautiful place , a true picture of the beauty Saskatoon has to offer. Nice scenic point to look out on the pelicans, see the beautiful riverbanks and walk ways. Love Saskatoon Proud to call this my home ????????????????
Awesome
One of my favorite places. It's nice to sit down and listen sound of nature.
Best weir in Saskatoon. Approved of by many pelicans. Don't bother going to any other weir.
Always a great place to walk to and just enjoy the views.
First river walk of 2021
Nice day nice place
Nice trails to walk, run, jog or bike. Tou can take in the scenic view and observe the birds feeding down stream of the weir. Definitely spend a few hours here.
Amazing trails and the white pelicans
Great place for a walk along the trails
Nice place just to enjoy the peacefulness
Great place to visit. Enjoy the view, relax, watch the pelicans and take some great photos.
Nice.. good parking. Beautiful scenery..lots of walking/biking options..
Beautiful walking paths lots of bench if you need or want to rest.
One of the many beautiful features of the city. If your looking for a nice walk this is a great place to start.
Always a calming place to go.
Beautiful..love the sound of the water flowing and scenery
Absolutely beautiful !!!! I got to watch the pelicans eat and it was really enjoyable!!!!! I Absolutely loved it . My autistic son ???? really enjoys walks by the river and watching the birds ???? . He finds its sooo relaxing !!!! We make an adventure out of it to see what cool things we can find on the different pathways .
Who doesn't love the weir ? Great place to sit down and relax, grab a coffee and people watch if you're alone but still Just enough of an attraction that it keeps the senses alive and still allows you to have a concentrated conversation with friends.
I love The Weir. It's a very beautiful bit of nature right in the heart of the city. I love watching the pelicans and the geese and ducks. Not to mention the gophers and chipmunks. The sight of the water flowing over the Weir is very delightful and the sound is so very calming. If you haven't been then I highly recommend a visit.
Very pretty at night. Only thing was several lights burnt out and let's be honest, it's Saskatoon, so a little sketchy to just be hanging around enjoying the water and view of the city.
Great walking trails
The Weir is on the South Saskatchewan River along the Meewasin Trail in th beautiful city of Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada. It is the fishing waters for a number of water birds including pelicans. After you have enjoyed The Weir you can walk across the Pedestrian Train Bridge and see an amazing view of the river and the Weir with the city of Saskatoon in the background.
Like to watch the pelicans and other birds fishing below the weir.
