(Translated) We come back from the house of the Amerindian cultures and frankly, we have the impression to have been downright scammed. It's not that the meal was bad, because it was quite good, although quite ordinary. It is that it is a real tourist catch no more no less. It was April 15, so it’s the end of sugar time so we expected to be served maple syrup dishes, especially since the museum talks about it a lot and the decor includes a lot of related elements to the syrup harvest (boilers, porridge system, ancestral maple artefacts ...) and that the site is in a beautiful maple grove. In addition, the museum talks extensively about maple syrup as an Amerindian craft practice. Needless to say, we were very surprised when we saw that the taffy offered to us was not maple taffy. In fact, maple syrup was completely absent from the whole experience. The served taffy tastes of barley sugar and has a completely different texture from maple taffy. Other than that, the people were very friendly, but you only get the impression that you were taken. Ce n'est pas que le repas était mauvais, car il était plutôt bon, bien qu'assez ordinaire. C'est que c'est une vraie attrape touriste ni plus ni moins. On était le 15 avril, c'est donc la fin du temps des sucres alors on s'attendait à nous faire servir des plats au sirop d'érable, surtout que le musée en parle abondamment et que le décor inclus beaucoup d'éléments liés à la récolte du sirop (chaudières, système de bouillie, artefacts acéricoles ancestraux...) et que le site est dans une belle érablière. De plus, le musée parle abondamment de l'acériculture en tant que pratique artisanale amérindienne. Nul besoin de dire que nous fûmes très surpris lorsque nous avons constaté que la tire qui nous était offerte n'était pas de la tire d'érable. En fait, le sirop d'érable était complètement absent de l'ensemble de l'expérience. La tire servie goûte le sucre d'orge et a une texture complètement différente de la tire d'érable. À part de ça, les gens étaient très sympathiques, mais on a qu'en même l'impression d'avoir été roulé.

A bit disappointed, I must say This place is more an art gallery dedicated to the work of the founder... who is, indeed, painting the life of Native Canadians... But you won"t learn so much about their life and their culture here... (there are other places for that, which I won't mention here because it is not the point here) The site includes a pathway through the small surrounding woods, but unfortunately, all the didactic panels (except for one) have been removed by vandals (apparently, the neighbors do not appreciate the presence of a museum dedicated to the First Nations in their backyard... congrats to them for being so open minded...) Interesting place to see, but maybe not worth the money you pay (8 CAN/adult) , certainly in the current state of the didactic pathway in the woods...

Interesting place to visit, right at the bottom of the St-Hilaire mountain. The staff is amazing! Very friendly and knowledgeable. Lot to discover on the first nations: legends, traditions, their way of living, degustation, and art presentations. There is also a little boutique with Indian souvenirs with reasonable prices. There is a small forest for a quick walk.

That of Jean-Paul Riopelle disappointed me a little. These are not his finest works, IMHO. The last allows you to learn more about maple syrup, it's very interesting. Nous avons terminé par une agréable balade en forêt.
