Rare to find such beautiful panoramic vistas on such family friendly safe trails. One of the best hikes in the Montreal area. Lots of options for shorter or longer trails leading to different views of the surrounding river, farmlands, and neighbouring Mountains. We have hiked here many times and there are sometimes deer along the trails. Countless varieties of Fungi along the trail when the conditions are right.

Scenic trails with absolutely breathtaking scenery by the lake and at the summit (see pics). The hike isn't hard, but it's probably a long one depending on which route you opt for. I recommend the route "Pain de sucre" for a bird's-eye view of the small town Mont-Saint-Hilaire - you can even see Montreal afar if the weather is pleasant! $9 entrance fee per person. Don't worry if you arrive a little later than the time designated for the ticket. The lady at the entrance will be lenient. (Photos taken on October 13, 2021)

Pros: - clean - most visitors are respectful and minimize noise - beautiful views - fresh air in proximity to the city - good snow grooming/maintenance/patrolling in winter - some deer, birds, chipmunks, and squirrels - main trails are wide and some brave parents even bring their babies! Cons: - need to purchase tickets a week or so in advance when you don't know what the weather will be like or it'll be sold out–this is a barrier for low-income people - trails are not very well-maintained in summer... Lots of large rocks and sticks to trip over or, in my case, sprain your ankle on. For $9 I expect McGill to do more than just clear fallen trees - amount of foot traffic and proximity to airport means the forest is not very alive, except with mosquitoes

Beautiful beautiful hike. Trails are very accessible and clearly marked. Range of grades for all ages and difficulties. Several different viewpoints with 180° gaze. Would highly recommend. Don't forget to book online ahead of time though!

I've been twice now, and every time, I leave with a different experience! For non-residents, remember to book your visit by buying your tickets online in advance. A park employee scans the ticket barcodes before letting you through to the free on-premise parking. The park is well maintained and offers a variety of trails towards different view points, so every visit can feel different. There are bathrooms on-site at the base of the mountain as well as park benches and random seating areas. The trees provide generous shade so that you're not left baking out in the sun. Make sure the path intensity is something you're okay with... I'm not exactly sure if there are easy paths available to hikers.

One of my favourite places on the planet. Weekends are always busy - especially on the Yellow trail. Great view from the summit. The surrounding orchards are great places to visit for a little snack after the hike. All profits from food products sold in the visitors center on the mountain go directly to the local farmers. This was the first Unesco biosphere reserve on the planet. We have Alice Johannsen and the tireless work of the citizens of Mont. St. Hilaire and McGill University to thank for a truly invaluable old growth reserve.

Beautiful place where I like to go but I will be leaving a disappointed review. Today though, i made a mistake this week to buy tickets for the 25th, mistaking this date for saturday. I was wrong. I did not notice of my mistake until 3 of us got to the booth and were turned around after 1h30 min of driving to get here with no option to be let in. I understand covid, but after paying 24$ and 1h30 drive just to get here, we are heading back home with time wasted only. This is an open hill, not a closed up event inside a building.

Pourquoi faut il payer pour un parc naturel et encore aujourd'hui où on fête saint Jean Baptiste patron du Québec? 2. Les points de vue ont besoin d'être dégagés car on ne voit pas beaucoup de choses avec des arbres qui ont poussé.

However it is possible to hike from here if you are looking for adventure :) but no parking here See pictures below to locate the official entrance to the mountain

This is an amazing hiking location that is easily accessible from Montreal. It’s about 1hr away, but well worth the drive. The cost is very reasonable and there is ample parking. The trails are very clean and well preserved. You have easy, intermediate and difficult trails with beautiful views to reward you for reaching the top.

We went there with children and they didn't complain, so that's a plus. What I didn't like is the fact that you paid per person. I mean, I understand you need people to maintain the site, but put a fee per car or something. I wish it was well maintained... in some areas it was difficult to see where the trail was. Le pain de sucre est le sommet le plus élevé et c'est aussi celui le plus achalandé.

This was a great place to take an easy (to intermediate) light hike. Though the $7 entrance fee was a little steep (plus a donation if you want a map of the trails), the trails were well maintained and had great views. We took the pain de sucre trail up to a nice view, though it was a little crowded. We were able to see a deer and a vulture in the area. We passed by burned hill trail on the way down and while there wasn't as good of views, the trail was really pleasant and made for a nice descent.

The paths are clearly marked and are a good hike. It is an intermediate incline just getting from the parking lot to the welcome centre. I climbed Sugarloaf yesterday and the peak seemed like a kilometre of stairs. Very well kept, though. Stones were placed to make the steps manageable. Nice hike, not too hard, we took the Rocky Rouge trail, continue to Dieppe, then returned through the Rocky Blue path, it was about 4 hours in total. The view from the top: surrounding towns and cities, the river, we could even see Montreal skyscrapers and its olympic stadium far away (yes zoomed in). We went to see Lac Hertel as well, pretty nice to have picnic by the water, but no swimming allowed. Daily pass is $8, must buy online in advance, better come early otherwise there's too many people and traffic.

Great place for a winter hike. The trails are open year-round and you can rent snowshoes among other things. The trails aren't too hard, but you can do multiple summits if you are looking for a bigger challenge. We hike up and down the mountain in less than 3 hours usually. We go multiple times every year because it's always fun and the view from the summits are worth it!

Really close to Montreal. The trails are quite accessible for all and there are a variety of trails which can be done (ranging from short loops of 20 mins to 4 hour loops). The park is very well managed and it’s the perfect location for hiking on hot days because there is a lot of shade from the trees and a nice breeze. The lake is also great (you can’t swim or fish) to look at or picnic next to. The views from the viewpoints aren’t very raw or natural but it’s interesting to see Montreal all the way from the peaks. Overall, definitely worth the trip.

Excellent place for hike with family. We took the orange trail and got to the Burned view point. It was only 2km which was perfect for the kid. We then went back toward the lake for lunch time. 8$ for adult and kids under 17 is free. Parking is free.

The descent went well, and looked like a simple little walk in the forest since my group took the purple trail as soon as it crossed the blue trail. There were still a lot of people at Rocky Summit on Saturday around 4pm. Would happily go back to climb the other peaks and to visit the nesting area. (Original) Le chemin Rocky était joli du début à la fin, même si plusieurs sections étaient plus abruptes. C'est un bon défi à relever que d'emprunter ce chemin. La vue d'en haut est d'ailleurs exceptionnelle! En regardant à l'horizon, il était possible de distinguer le Stade olympique! La descente s'est bien déroulée, et ressemblait a une simple petite balade en forêt puisque mon groupe a emprunté le sentier mauve dès qu'il croisait le sentier bleu. Il y avait quand même beaucoup de personnes au sommet Rocky le samedi aux alentours de 16h. J'y retournerais avec plaisir pour monter les autres sommets et pour visiter la zone de nidification.

I saw a guy with a dog, a turd in a bush and a whole bunch of people walking on protected spaces to take pictures of their fat asses in spandex hugging trees, because they like nature so much they're ready to stomp on it to show their friends on some dumb social network for peasants. The park was gorgeous... Really a shame.
