Went with my daughters class for the morning. We could have stayed all day. The kids did an art class then a tour. We learned all about the history of the building as well as the different exhibits. Staff were great, very helpful and kind. Looking forward to taking the whole family for their Family Sunday Workshop. Thanks to all the Staff for having us. You did a great job!

My husband and I ended up going to MacLaren when there wasn't an exhibit going on (always check ahead!). We still go to look around and see the historical architecture, which was really awesome. The woman at the front desk was so helpful and knowledgeable, she made us want to come back, and we will.

This is one of my favourite places for lunch, or to meet with clients over coffee. The fresh food is incredible, and there's cosy fireplace that is nice in the winter or a courtyard patio in the warmer months. Try the thai curry chicken salad wrap with a chai latte :)

Space is really nice and inviting and suits all.seasons for a visit. As a rental space i think it would particularly well suit a corporate function or event. As a wedding venue it may suit a smaller, more intimate reception although most art pieces must remain and is not a one stop shop for wedding events. It is venue only which will suit some and not all. Overall, a tastefully preserved piece of architectural history, a small (in stature and art) gallery and friendly staff. Great potential!

We went to the MacLaren Art Centre because one of their exhibit areas featured historical photographs. In fact, there are four galleries in the Centre, each with a different exhibit, so there was much to see and enjoy. In addition to the exhibits, we also enjoyed the building itself. They used a former Carnegie library building that has great windows and character and added on a new, modern section to get extra space. The marriage of old and new really works. I also found the staff at the front desk to be particularly warm and welcoming. They made sure we knew where all the exhibit spaces were located so that we wouldn't miss anything.

I feel that any community, and or town that has their own local high profile art gallery speak volume about their appreciation for the arts. This is a major level art gallery containing a wonderful collection of fine art. Simply top notch! International artist would be thrilled to exhibit their artwork in such a venue. Koodo's to Barrie for having such a classy art gallery.
