Phenomenal experience. While Escape Room Barrie doesn't look like much from the outside, the owners have put great attention to detail and care into every aspect of the interior and the rooms. They were so approachable and friendly and very dedicated to making sure that everyone from any experience level can enjoy doing an escape room. We did the room with a group of three and got out just in time. My friend even had her 7-week old infant with her and it was no problem at all. Definitely would recommend this experience to anyone at any age.

Great experience! We went in for a date night just the two of us and didn’t have to pay for four people like other places. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. We took our time and enjoyed the challenges versus rushing to finish...so now we can go back for more. We can’t wait to try other rooms. We will definitely go back!

I can't recommend this place highly enough. We had a total blast! The owner and staff member were incredibly friendly and helpful. The attention to detail inside the room is amazing. The escape is challenging but also accessible. The hints are not obvious and still make you feel like you've figured it out yourself! I loved it, my group loved it, everyone should go. Ryan and Ashley were a ton of fun! I went with my family for my father's birthday (I was the only one that had done an escape room before) and they explained the concept and rules very well and even added a few personal touches while giving clues based on what they learned about my family prior to the game. The most impressive part was that they hid two birthday cupcakes in one of the safes for my dad to find. It's the little details that made all the difference. We can't wait until they open up the next room, so we can go back and give it a try!

The staff here are incredibly friendly and helpful and truly want you to have the best experience you can. Both rooms were challenging, yet manageable with a little help along the way. Our family's first experience with an escape room was amazing! We were 5ppl in our group (kids are 6, 9 and 11). Everyone had a great time! Challenging enough for the different age ranges, even the 6 year old contributed. Fyi: The lights going out was a bit scary for the youngest of us, if she had known in advance, it would have been absolutely fine. Today she said THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN! We will be back to try a different challenge soon! Thank you

I am very sorry that we failed to show up 15 minutes early but we REALLY appreciate you being able to accommodate our late butts without penalty. The experience was AMAZING! This place goes over the top with attention to detail. The electronics and locks they use are REALLY impressive. We felt alone and private but we knew that someone was always there to help answer any issues we were having. If I can provide one recommendation to help people that failed to read the notifications about 15 mins early. It would be to make the appointment bookings times for the actual time that you require people to show up. Therefore our 8PM appointment would be 7:45PM. Again, this is just for the people that apparently have a lack of attention to detail. ;)

Amazing room!! I finally found an escape room closer than aurora that I will 100% be returning to!! I cannot wait for December 1st for the next room to open! My friends/family and I have been to many escape room but this one hit my top 3 for sure! Ryan and Ashley and of course their little one, London, were amazing! The room has lots of thought put into it. I am very pleased with how there was a story line that was always referred back to every step of the way! The room is challenging but not to the point where you must have a genius in the room to get the clues.. nor was it easy peasy! The clues and hints that were provided during the game did not give away entirely what to do but pointed us in the right direction, which I loved! Very fun room and 100% recommended to check it out whether you are a newby or a regular escapee

We had a great time here. Definitely one of the top escape rooms I have been to. Staff are also extremely friendly and helpful. The way the rooms were setup is great. You don't have to spend your time trying to find one small item that is hidden in very random places. It's about solving puzzles and making your way through which is way better in my opinion. Will definitely be back for the next puzzle.

Had a great time doing the Against Your Will room. The decor was all very well done and it was clear that a lot of thought went into the puzzles. We did get a few too many hints that we didn't actually ask for, but since most of us are relative beginners I understand that the staff were just trying to make sure we did well and had a good time. All in all great experience and I plan to return to try their other room(s).

The owners are fantastic people who ensure you know exactly what to expect and make sure everything goes smoothly. Professional from start to end with a friendly smile. We did the Simcoe Arms escape with friends and really enjoyed it. I especially liked that it was custom-made, loosely based on a local landmark, rather than being a "canned" scenario from a franchise. My wife liked that the rooms were totally enclosed (a complete recreation of an elevator and motel suite) instead of having the open-ceiling cubicle style we've played elsewhere. She also liked that the supervisor communicated with us via TV screens rather than being in the rooms with us. I also enjoyed the aspect that some (not real) handguns and rifles were part of the solution. The overall theme and atmosphere were very well presented. I would very much recommend this specific room to those who enjoy, or want to try, to escape the room. The only complaint from the other couple was that most of the puzzles involved finding a number or letter combination for a lock, although there was still a variety in how those were hidden or presented, and there were also some puzzles that involved moving items or pushing colour-coded buttons. The incorporation of UV was an extra thrill.

We had a small group of 3 and had a blast. There was a theme and the clues and everything were all connected! Ryan was awesome. Not only was he kind and helpful he made our first experience amazing. Our 2nd was with another company and was no where as enjoyable as this. We look forward to returning for more rooms. Price is reasonable taking in to consideration the cost of other escape rooms. Our group finished with 12mins and 33 sec to spare. We are every day moms and dads and were able to solve this room with very minimal clues. Simcoe arms is also a room I feel comfortable with my younger children being involved in. It does have replica weapons but other than that everything was great! I recommend this also for homeschoolers as a social, team building effort and has numbers, letters, maps and more. We are excited to return for more rooms!

We have done 28 escape rooms. These owners are the nicest, funniest people and they genuinely care that everyone has great time and that they recieve feedback to improve their rooms. We finished in 38 minutes but was there for 1 hour and 40 minutes total because we were chatting with the amazing owners. The room is balanced between being approachable for beginners but is also is challenging for escape room artists. The owners dedicate one game master per room who will help you and give you 100 hints to ensure everyone gets out if they want to receive lots of hints. I love their dedication.

Had a great experience. I have done many rooms in the past and this one was by far the best. We did the "Against Your Will" and it was very challenging. We required many hints, as this one there are no limits. No matter what they want you to complete the whole puzzle. They encourage you to have the whole experience. This was so fun! My first escape room, so nothing else to compare it to, but I was highly impressed. A lot of creativity goes into making something like this and I cannot wait until the new rooms are opened. It was a perfect level of challenging and my team of three balanced each other out well in which types of clues we figured out. Loved all the different types of locks they used as well just to add a hint more of variety. It was so frustrating to me to have to move away from a linear thinking pattern, but in a great way!

Just managed to escape the Simcoe Arms hotel room tonight with 3 mins to spare talk about a close call. It was such an awesome escape room so much thought put Into this room the detail everything. My other half and I have been doing escape rooms for about 2 years now and in our time doing them I have to honestly say this room is one of our favorites that we have done. The owner is super nice and friendly and you can tell he loves his job and his main priority is to make his customers have an amazing experience. I highly recommend this place for a fun experience. Awesome experience with the Simcoe Arms room! Our game master was super friendly and helpful, but not intrusive to the game at all. Clues and puzzles were great, challenging without being frustrating. Definitely highly recommend! We're looking forward to coming back! Edit: We came back and did the second room, with a larger group this time, and yet again had such a great time! The puzzles are well designed, with lots of variety to keep you on your toes. And to top it off, the owner, who was our game master, took the time to come in and walk through the puzzles with us, telling us about the inspiration and development of each puzzle. My sister's family came to visit us from B.C. During her visit the eight of us embarked on an epic adventure. We're originally from Alberta and have been to escape rooms before. This was byfar the best one I've been to yet. The whole family enjoyed themselves. My 10 and 11yr old was more intrigued and excited then scared and hell ya we'll do it again. I highly recommend it for any or no occasion!

Went with my family for my birthday. All 4 of us LOVED it! Husband didn’t think he’d enjoy it because he doesn’t really like puzzles or logic problems but he was solving some of the challenges faster than the rest of us! Ryan, the owner, was super nice and explained how it all worked really well and did his best to make sure we got the most fun out of our experience. We did the Simcoe Arms room and will definitely go back to experience the other rooms. Fully recommend this place if you’re looking for a fun activity with family or friends!

My time at Escape Room Barrie was my second time ever doing an escape room, and my first time at this particular location. I wasn't really sure what to expect going in- I had heard that this location was fun, but beyond that I didn't know much. I'm really glad I decided to seek it out though- the room we did (Against Your Will) was a lot of fun. Challenging without being overly complicated, which is not always an easy balance to strike. The staff was very friendly and polite, and made my group feel welcome. We were a smaller group (4 people total) and found that this was a good size, in case anyone is thinking about trying with a smaller group.

Well run, clean and very organized! Four of us did the escape against your will room. Quite challenging made it out with almost 5 mins to spare. There was a problem with one of the locks the game master was prompt to address the issue so we didnt lose time. Looking forward to returning when the new room opens. We did the "Simcoe Arms Hotel" Escape Room. This is easily the BEST Escape Room experience in Barrie and on par with many of the high end Escape Rooms in the GTA. The owners are "escape room enthusiasts" who have done a great job designing a custom room that is well designed, challenging and fun. The owners work extra hard to give an excellent customer service experience so everyone is comfortable before it starts. Thus far, there's only one room but they're designing a second for late 2017 and hopefully going up to 4 rooms in total. This is a great team building event and well worth the drive to Barrie if you're coming from out of town. Update Oct 2018: We completed the second room which was just as impressive. The two rooms complement each other well with "Against" being a bit more adult and less linear.

Stuck in an elevator..there we were, but out before long for a hotel tour. One by one the clues unfold, look up ... look down so we were told. Absolutely loved "Against Your Will" escape room as it required us to work more as a team, solving many puzzles in order to escape! My first thoughts after leaving Escape Room Barrie were that I wish I could forget I had gone, not because I had a bad experience, in fact I had a fantastic time. I wish I could forget so I could turn around and do the puzzles again. I did the Simcoe Arms Hotel experience and it was great fun. The puzzles are phenomenal. This was my first escape room experience and honestly I was expecting something not nearly as clever or engaging as the puzzles that I had to go through. I went from marveling at my own solutions with the same cocky brilliance as Jeremy Clarkson to frantically searching rooms like a rat in a maze, it was a rollercoaster of fun and panic. Although some solutions seemed somewhat frustrating or misleading it is greatly overshadowed by the many, many fantastic puzzles. The puzzles are a great foundation to the experience but what really brings it together is the environment. The rooms and the components of the puzzles are themed after a narrative. This makes it feel that you're no longer a bumbling person searching through a predetermined room, but you're investigating an exciting conspiracy. It really ups the fun-factor. Aside from the room itself the staff were great. I was helped by a young lady with long blond hair but I've forgotten her name, I mention this only because I think she deserves recognition for her service. She was very helpful and welcoming throughout my experience. She even accommodated for my circumstance which I felt was above and beyond. Overall great fun, that really gets your brain going.
