This Tourist Attraction corresponds to the category of Dog park.
Seems to be a great park. My puppy had a great time playing with other dogs and on the trail. The other dog owners were also very nice and helpful.
I've been coming at least three times a week since we moved in June. The dogs are well well behaved and the owners are knowledgable and vigilant. You get to know everyone if you come regularly enough. The park can get messy after a good rain, but otherwise make sure to bring some water and enough toys for the dogs to share.
Great sized dog park in easy to access location with tons of parking available. Lengthy trails to walk if you choose to!
Lots of space for the dogs to run around
A nice and large dog park with a bonus off-leash trail in the back. Lots of friendly dog owners and canine friends! Watch out for the large holes in the ground throughout the park, wasn’t paying attention and fell once… other than that, definitely recommend!
Big field for running and a few trails in back to mix it up. No real shade in the field so the dogs and owners are not given much option but to bake. Owners not as diligent as they should be in picking up their dogs droppings. Sunnidale dog park, when the city decides to open it again is far superior.
A nice sized dear Dog Park, we sometimes stop there on our way to the cottage to give our dog a break. Usually lots of friendly locals there to greet you.
It's a great place but they need to put some more stuff down in winter time when it gets muddy
Ok facility, lots of space for the pups to run. Love the forested area. Unfortunately lots of dogs with inexperienced owners.
I liked it, no complaints. 4 star review
People are friendly and the park is very nice and well kept
I always bring my dog to this park because I've never had a bad experience and enjoy the comfort of having people that know dogs well enough to keep them behaved. You can expect that there are a lot of huskies here and have to realize that certain dog breeds play in a particular way. If you keep an eye on your dog's behaviour you won't have an issue. Be a responsible pet owner. At the back of the large enclose pen, is a more nature-driven side of the dog park where you and your dog can walk the trails and be comfortable with their being a fence surrounding the area. Always be wary that there may be holes in the fences and keep an eye on your dog and you'll be fine.
Large space lot of dogs but very bare, no water available. Could use a few trees in the play areas and needs signage by the road
Shady area is the best !
Loved it. Folks looked after their pets!!!
Love to take Dewey here!
A great large fenced in location with option to explore a forested walking trail that loops in a circle. The forest area is fenced in except for the entrance into it so if your dog is known for bolting, it still is a good place to run free.
We were camping with our dog and decided to spend the night in Barrie on the way home from trip. I was delighted to find Barrie's DOLRA (and learn a new acronym along the way). Big completely fenced in open grassy dog park for big dogs and a seperate fenced in area for little dogs plus a rather extensive trail network in the woods that was also fenced in!
I usually avoid this park and I have given it quite a few chances (at least a dozen). The area is large which is the only redeeming quality but there are next to no trees for shade in the summer and it gets hot in that large flat area. There is also no tap for water at this park which is a huge down side, especially on those hot days. The other issue I have faced every single time is poorly trained dogs and their absent minded owners. Owners are often busy socializing amongst themselves, sitting down on a bench on their phone, drinking their coffees or having a smoke instead of watching their dog(s) and paying attention to correct their bad behaviours or pick up after their dog when it has pooped. There is quite a bit of poop in this dog park because of owners not paying attention. On a couple occasions now, dogs have lifted their leg and peed on me ruining my winter boots (which the owner did not take responsibility for) and on my legs and feet while wearing flip flops and again owners don't apologize or take responsibility. It seems that people who have poorly mannered dogs due to lack of training come here because they have no other alternative.
Love this place. The dog does too. There is mulch down where it would get really muddy, and the forest section is awesome. Main section is completely fenced off and the forest section is fenced almost completely. The only opening is right at the parking lot. There is a separate small dog area as well for those under 30 lbs.
Was first time here. Owners seemed nice, was super icy, but it's Ontario after all...
Not fully fenced in but a great park!
A must for anyone who has a 4 legged friend
More of a mud pit than a park. Not recommended for socializing young pups as the older dogs mostly have no manners. Park is severely under maintained, small pile of wood chips we're dumped in middle while large rocks we're left uncovered. Sunnidale park is worse though. Would be nice if the idiot owners who are either too stupid or too lazy to pick up their pets poop would go to Sunnidale. Barrie bylaw has never been there to enforce anything other than parking.
Great place to take your dog to get them to run and play.
This place is awesome in theory. The trails are lovely, always nice people and doggos there. However, disappointingly, my dog's paw was badly cut by broken glass in the trail area. It's a great place, but you do need to be careful.
A great, wide open area with room to run, a walking trail and a small dog area. However, it can be a mud pit when wet and there is little grass.
It's ok. The dog owners spend more time talking and too little time interacting with their dogs. It's like an urban play ground for dogs. We prefer the forest
Lots of people, friendly environment. A must go place for you and your dog.
Always a great time! Large fenced in space for plenty of running around and making friends! This particular trip is from my dog's birthday and it was a great time. Friendly owners and dogs and my pups love it. Also a wooded trail nearby that is perfect for a stroll or hike depending on your intensity level. Plenty of parking also which is great!
Great place. Wish the walking trailing didnt have such steep hills. Cant really use it during the winter or spring but summer and fall are great.
Great place. Very secure fencing.
Amazing
Our dog loves this park! There is a fenced woods area with a trail for a 10 minute walk. Most of the dogs are in the large fenced area and running together there. You can sit on a chair or a bench. In winter time, dress warm, since it gets really windy and chilly on the open space.
This is a very large off leash park that is well kept and with a parking area just outside
Huge area for your dog to play and it's all fenced in!
Love this place. Chill in the field while the dogs play, or go on a little nature hike (while still hearing the wave of cars driving by) It's on the other side of town to us, so I wish there was a simular one closer... but we make the drive at least once a week.
Nice place but unfortunately like everything else, the people who have not been properly domesticated abuse it. Seen too many attacks and the first thing i hear is..."........ has never done that before." Too many uneducated people
Great place to let your dog be dogs. Let them run crazy with the other dogs in the fenced off field or take a hike through the fenced off bush area.
Fun place for dogs and well maintained
Best dog park in Barrie. It's by far the biggest fenced in area with a big open area for dogs to play and also a decent size walking trail in the back which is nice to walk in any season. Although its not groomed, so many people walk it there's a good enough path to use. The trail isn't stroller friendly but the open area is when there's no snow which is nice for moms on mat leave. There's been a few occasions where we've left because of other dogs that seemed to aggressive to be at the dog park but you'll get that anywhere you go. Just have to pay attention and use your judgement.
The place to be, if you have a puppy!
Most of the people and dogs are very friendly. Very spacious and the back trail is almost a kilometer long. Good hike with the pups. Beware of the land mines though... A lot of people don't monitor their dogs when they do their business.
My puppers couldn’t love this place more! She loves the space and the people here are friendly. We’ll be back over and over!
We have been looking forward to bringing our dogs to a dog park and to find posting for poisonous plant in the forest is not something I want to have around my family. The park it self needs more trees for the dogs to sit under for shade and water fountain. We did like the double door system to get into the two fenced in running areas. One for large breeds and another for smaller breeds. This dog park doesn't have wheel chair accessibility but does have a lot of parking.
Lots of space plus nice walk in back. Needs more garbage cans.
The small dog section of the dog park is great for my toy chihuahua!
Great place for dogs. People actually bring in dogs all the time, throughout the week, even though google says otherwise
A large open field with no shade or equipment for the pups to play on. Hit or miss on friendly people/pups as well
Clean and not muddy!
Huge, always a few other dogs which is nice for them to play
A great place for all dogs
Best place to bring your furry friend ???? The loop trail is perfect for playing hide and seek with your dog.
Great in the winter. But a horrible big in the back come spring.
Great place for the dogs can sometimes it gets windy as it's in a field. Great trails
Great place for dogs to socialize. Love the trails in the back. Please pick up after your dog though!
The park is very wide open. There is a small trail at the back for walking. It's a bit too close to major roads for me. Also - I find that there are a lot of dog owners who do not control their dogs.... kinda the same everywhere - I understand... just that this one seems a bit worse....
Been here 2 or 3 times. There’s a second pen for smaller dogs if needed. Have never had any issues and my French Bulldog gets to run with other dogs and burn off some energy.
This was my first time to the park. They seem to have 2 different sections although I didn't recognize why you'd choose the smaller of the 2 areas. .. for smaller dogs ?? I didn't see any water stations so make sure you bring some water with you. There seem to be plenty of containers( water bowls) however. The largest section was quite large and had a few picnic tables and some chairs. It was a nice space and people were friendly. There seem to be some park balls around as well . The terrain was mostly grass. Overall a good experience. Lots of parking too !!
Great forest area to walk your pup!
A great place for your dog to socialize, and play, and the environment is dog friendly, and the trail you can take you dog on behind the park is really good for walks
Great place to take dogs. Very large off leash area as well as a fenced in large trail behind. Needs water dishes and water source. Poop bags would be good too.
Always lots of dogs here, clean but WINDY!! Dress in layers it’s always a few degrees cooler there.
MY dog met his end some time ago my family took him to this park when he was alive a lot his name is tundra but yes recommend
Great spot for letting the dogs run around! They have a section for small dogs only and another one for large dogs!
HEY BARRIE CITY COUNCIL... For the love of god install a water pipe. Just a small single water outlet for dogs to have a drink. And maybe just maybe use a couple bucks to build a real bathroom on site. I won’t mention the usefulness of some lights too... :) It’s a park. Just like all of our parks. Let’s add some service the site.
A huge space for my pup to run around and get his energy out. Love the community, everybody is so kind. Good upkeep and I always have a great experience.
Good place, bit muddy in the entrance. But overall ok!
Not good for little dogs. No bushes or trees. Big dogs running without leash everywhere. And owners of big dogs very rude. Why? Parking lot is no without leash area.
My little senior dog Tiger loves the forest trail beyond the fenced pen ... have taken him there for many years .... would have given 5 stars except there are always owners there who are more interested in personal social activity than actually spending quality time with their dogs .... not surprising really, in today's society ... but that's no fault of the park itself .... the city has covered the trail with mulch and installed benches throughout the forest walk part ... it's really nice there ...
A large park area where dogs can walk off leash and enjoy running around, like a dog should! Everyone there was friendly and so were the pups. It's nice to have the smaller fenced area as well as the larger fenced forest area.
Love that you can walk around the caged area thru a beautiful forest
Best off leash dog park we have been to. Big fenced in area for all dogs, a smaller area fenced off for small dogs and a forested walking trail behind make for a great walk/time for all pack (family) members.
Our dog got an infection in his paw. We never went back. :-(
Love this area! It has a nice length of off leash trail through a bush area as well as the open off leash area. There are 2 seperate areas for different size of dogs too. A few shady areas at the back and some chairs that someone probably brought.
I have noticed that like the small dogs they own, owners of small dogs think the world revolves around them. There is a park specifically made for them for small dogs only. But that's not enough. It's a great park, fenced in and has a wooded area to go for walks in! Parking is never an issue and everyone is generally friendly. Even though dogs can look agressive at play, it seems most owners understand this (minus most small dog owners who are usually crying about something already anyway-sad) Great time. People often bring water and fill up the bowls on the ground for all the dogs.
My huskyote love the free run of the large field.in the the winter it would seem more Huskies and shepherds are breeds to show up and play in the snow.
sooooo many pups!!!!! great space.
Great people and great dogs ????
Nice place dog loved it!
This place is absolutely perfect.
Great spot for the pups to run free. Only problem is a lady that brings her two aggressive dogs that teamed up chasing my golden.
Well kept. Amazing place for your dogs. A large fenced area for all the dogs to play, as well as a small dog play area. The best part is the huge trail walk through a forested area that is also completely fenced so if is off leash as well. Trails are well kept and a fairly easy walk. Check it out! You and your dog's will love it!!
It's so pretty and peaceful here. A great spot to enjoy nature and flowers and rest for a bit. Many brides and grooms get their wedding photos taken here. The park side is great, too, with several benches to rest on and picnic tables to eat at. They have lovely updated play equipment including a zip line. Lots of space to jog along the path or to just rest and take in its beauty.
Tons of space. My 6 month old boxer lab cross loves it there
Still, too many owners not picking up after their dogs.
Really large fenced in area, always busy. Great place to take your dog
We are not even from the area and I bring my dogs at least 3 times a week! The dogs love it and get so excited!! Everyone is friendly and welcoming. But, the Negatives: *Dogs (who do not listen to their Pawrents) running all around the parking Lott before or after entering the gated area. I had one big dog scratch my Brand New Jeep door so bad its unrepairable and the owner just took off. I mean, If your dogs LISTEN to your commands I don't see a problem though.. *People bring in heat/not Spayed females which make the boys go crazy literally and it starts fights. People also bringing adult not neutered males, which also cause fights. Read the signs at gate this is NOT allowed! *(Rare occasion) Some people have VERY aggressive/protective dogs that should NOT be at the park until they get trained properly. The Park is not a place to train your dog, its puts other dogs and their owners at risk. *Also, I wish the city would put a hose or something for the dogs water in the summer
Great place to take your dog :)
Nice people and great to bring your dog to excercise but the city needs to maintain the grounds better. A fountain would be an asset as well for dogs to drink.
Good place for a dog to romp or to travel around the trail behind the main pen. Too bad there isn't lighting for evenings in the winter.
I babysat a Lab who I took here and he had a great time burning off energy by running and playing with other dogs. But there's a lot of owners who just unclip the leash and sit near the gate while their dogs run wild and they don't call them off when they get too amped up and start chasing and hounding other dogs. One owner Iet her dog plow into other dogs without any correction at all. I see one of the other reviews made a comment about how huskies play differently than other dogs. That might be true, but it's inexcusable to allow poor behaviour to go unchecked if it could cause harm. I would never bring my own dogs here, particularly to the large dog section but even to the designated small dog area. My dogs are socialized but I found a lot of the other owners don't monitor their dogs play or interaction . I would particularly never bring a puppy here. It's a lot of big dogs who have way too much energy and it would probably traumatize pups who need positive interactions in a controlled setting first.
Big convenient just not the cleanest
Great park, nice walking trail but have had a couple run ins with people with aggressive dogs... if you know your dog is aggressive DONT COME HERE!
One of two dog parks in Barrie, and personally I believe this one to be the better of the two. Very large and wide open field, makes it easy to keep an eye on and spot your doggie even from afar. Double gated entrance as per usual, large parking lot and also an area for small dogs though I rarely find it used. They also have a separate area in the back that is basically a small woodsy trail for dogs to wander around and also get muddy/wet in some of the pools of water that can build up during the summer months. In the winter it's precariously icy, so be careful. No poop bags on site! No water either! Bring your own poop baggies and water, but usually most people tend to have some on hand and there are plenty of bowls around to use as dishes. The community is pretty nice for the most part. There's the usual regulars and occasional new comers, but generally speaking people are accepting and understanding of dogs, people and things that may occasionally occur at the park ie. scraps. I've seldom seen a problem occur between dogs or people, and it's usually sorted out quickly without much issues. Definitely watch out for poop.
Our dog loves the off leash walk in the back. Generally buys which is nice.
Amazing dog park, fenced in area for both small and larger dogs. There is a fenced in trail in the back. Came from Toronto for the week with our fur baby and was so happy to find this gem!
I would not bring a puppy here! This is a lazy dog owners dog park. There were probably 15 dogs here when we went and most of the owners were just sitting at the entrance and let their dogs do their business wherever and didn't pick up their waste. I saw a dog being aggressive and it's owner was just sitting far away without making any effort to control their dog. I have never been do a dirtier dog park and have never seen such lazy owners.
Good people, and great dogs! My pup loves to go here.
Has an amazing enclosure where dogs can play and owners can still see them. The people that go are all friendly and 95% of the dogs are really wellannered so I am not worried taking my dog there at all. There is an awesome trail that you can walk as well.
Great of leash dog park. Huge area to run around in and a portable toilet for people a well. Lots of grass and not too much dirt in the park either.
I go here several times a week. It's not perfect...but it is the best dog park I have been to anywhere in Canada. I've been to dozens around Ontario.
It was a great day at the dog park. It was out first time there and our boy, Eddie, was so excited to finally be out of lockdown. The park was big and open with plenty of room for the dogs to run and play and the littke wooded area at the back corner is a nice shaded spot. We didn't go out to the wooded trail because my wife is pregnant and we were advised that it is too aggressive fit her at this time. The did and the people that were there were all very friendly. Overall it was a great time and we will definitely go back.
Checked out the trails behind the park. They are great. First time there has been anyone in the small dog area. A Boston Terrier got aggressive with my minerature Poodle, but she put him in his place in a hurry.
The park is a little hard to find. A flat open dog park that is completely fenced in. They have two spaces one for large and another for small dogs. People were nice and the dogs were well trained.
The trails behind are decent, but steep hills. owners can be ridiculous - I've been there multiple times when people decide to bring their in heat females, naturally causing aggression amongst most males. In the main area people sit around a lot and don't watch their dogs so confrontation is almost inevitable.
Best dog park I've ever been to. It's got a big fenced in field for dogs to play as well as a large forested area with a few trails that's also fenced in. Very nice place to go for a walk and train your dog off leash. 5 stars
If you have small or younger dogs I strongly suggest not bringing them to this park. Unfortunately the manners of the older dogs (and their owners) tend to be very poor. Had a group of dogs bombard my two small dogs (one being a puppy) and the owners didn’t even have the courtesy to call them off. One of my dogs took off running and the other sat there scared and shaking surrounded by dogs close to 10 times its size. I was literally in and out of the park within a minute.
Great place to take your dog to play with other dogs. And the walking trail is really nice.
A nice large fenced dog park.
No water,or washrooms but it's just a fenced field
Great park, lots of room for the dogs, even smaller pen for small dogs. Great trail and surroundings
Great dog park! Large fenced in off leash area and a partially fenced in forest area with trails! Highly recommend checking out!
