Great place to get away from Banff and enjoy the quieter side of life. This area is popular with runners/cyclists yet is also a very good trail to spot wildlife. Of note we spotted a woodpecker in the trees and a beaver swimming. There is an option to extend this walk by crossing over the bridge, turning left and visiting the lake.

Excellent for a light hike with the family. Very close to Banff. There is a washroom in the parking area.

Alexabeth L

Beautiful fall and mountains.

Jordan Kidney

Short, but nice trail for any activity level. Walking distance on the edge of banff that provides a someonewhat quite stroll through trees and the fenlands. In the early season there is a good chance to see deer and elk. A short walk that I love to do every time I go to Banff. The path is not paved, so make sure to wear good shoes. Through the connected parking lot and picnic area you will be able to find outhouses.

Beautiful trail! About a 2km loop trail, it's very easy and fairly well marked and it has pillars every so often so you know you're going the right way. It's so calm and scenic and peaceful. Only bad thing is the parking by the trail is super limited so it could make it tough during peak times.

(Translated) Very nice and easy walking area. There is a car park in front of the route, but the route is only a few minutes walk from the center of Banff. Lovely views. The route is completely flat and undemanding. It takes 30-40 minutes in total. (Original) Bardzo ładny i łatwy teren spacerowy. Trasa w całości płaska i niewymagająca. Całość zajmuje on 30-40 minut.

Amazing hike by bow river. Loved it

(Translated) It seems that this is a morning walk course for the locals. For those who want to experience the nature of Canada rather than full-scale trails, small children, and those with weak legs, it is a short distance from Banff town, so it is a perfect short course. It was pretty good for a morning walk.

An easy trail on the Rockies. Was a great way to finish off our vacation in Banff. Felt very safe. Other people around relaxing on ample benches overlooking the water.

The Fenland Trail is an easy and short 2.1 km hike in the town of Banff. There are great opportunities to see elk here! I visited in August 2017 and 2016. The trailhead began along Mount Norquay Road. It was a pleasant, peaceful and pretty walk along a flat looped trail through the forest and alongside a small creek. There were some views of the Rockies through trees along the way and I did see lots of elk along the trail, which was pretty cool. The trail was wide and well maintained. The Fenland Trail was a beautiful and relaxing hike.

Achim Königs

(Translated) Very nice walk, always along the river. Even without great animal sightings (we saw squirrels and a few woodpeckers) we had a lot of fun. Especially recommended with children. There are also a few benches suitable for a picnic by the river.

A nice walk, it is just a little far away from the town and not much people, so feel scared a little when we were walked.

Yasmin Hovakeemian

Beautiful and short interpretive trail with numerous entry points. The scenery is beautiful and there is even some small wildlife watching here (deer, birds, etc.). Would highly recommend for a short walk nearby Banff town with the family. We took our baby infant on the trail in a carrier and she enjoyed all the sights!

Jared Iverson

Nice short walk in the trees. There is also some water as well.

It's a nice little walk next to a crystal clear creek on the way to Vermillion Lakes.

This is a very simple loop hike near the town of Banff. There is nothing too memorable about the hike, but it's a good way to get into the trees while staying close to town. It would be good for a quick run as the trail is very flat for the entirety.

Peaceful setting, well-marked path and the occasional squirrel with an easy going 2 kilometer circular walk. Add a parking lot with picnic tables, benches along the path and a self-guided walk (pick up a free map at the starting point in the parking lot). Great family friendly experience!

We looked for a toddler friendly trail and this one definitely was. It's a walking path, no hiking inclines, beautiful scenery, and easy. I think I read it's stroller friendly, but some areas would be very tough for a stroller with the rocks and roots along the path.

Josh Williamson

Trevor Prosser

A lovely little hike, perfect for families. Nothing too strenuous here, just a nice stroll through the woods. Paths are clearly marked, and there are places to stop and rest and enjoy the scenery along the way. Small parking lot, but close enough to Banff to walk to it. Great spot for a packed lunch at the trailhead.

Excellent trail, approximately 20 minutes in duration at a medium pace or 40 minutes as an after-dinner digestion walk!

(Translated) 2km dirt path with some roots (so not wheelchair accessible, no stroller), very easy, no elevation. We combined it with the Vermilion Lakes Drive for a total of about 9km, less than an hour by bike. Several picnic tables to eat by a stream.

luz stella villate

The trail is on the border of lake it is really easy al short trail.

Fiona Jonkers

Interesting walk, however, signs are a little vague, band the smaller Vermilion Lakes have dried up by October 18th, and the large Vermilion lake cannot be seen from the walking trail

(Translated) Beautiful little trail, only 2km long and very close to town (just follow the Bow River Trail to the north) and still beautifully peaceful. You will encounter wildlife and walk along the Bow River or simply relax on one of the benches. Trail is okay and would only recommend if you want a quick stroll on flat ground though woods for a quick getaway within the city and don't have time to hit a proper trail. Bring bug spray. Also note there is a parking lot at the trailhead. Don't park at the arena as it is far from the trail and across the wrong side of the street.

(Translated) It was a pity that I couldn't circle the trail for a week when I walked on 05.27. A section of the road in the middle was flooded by water. Although the road is very flat, the trail is lush and green with many trees. It really feels like walking in the mountains and forests. There are people running and cycling along the road, and the atmosphere is very leisurely. It’s a bit scary to walk alone. It is recommended that two people travel with each other to be accompanied.

Easily accessible for young children. We took our 5 and 3 year old here for a short hike in March. The snow had a good pack but it wouldn't be good for a stroller with the snow. Too bumpy. We saw a beaver right up close and right next to the trail. I've seen beavers and muskrats before but they have always been swimming, this guy was walking around and biting branches off to bring back to his home. It was exciting for us anyway. Beautiful walk extremely close to the town of Banff. We could hear the highway at certain parts of the trail but it was still beautiful.
