Its a great place to get away from the busy life. A great but not so long trail that takes you to beautiful waterfall and a small pond.

Dominic Nadeau

Beautiful place..I go often and swim in summer...great for picnic...

In winter time - unless you have an 4x4 SUV, stay clear. Got stuck in the parking lot with my Kia Soul. 5 star because it had low traffic, nice snow shoe hike on both trails

Amazing place. It starts off quiet. The water is still. As you go along the trail the water keeps flowing so smoothly until you reach the falls. The falls are beautiful! The most from the water hits your face ever so slightly and the sunlight just makes everything shine! I recommend these falls to anyone passing by. It’s worth it

Will_you_just_stop_it

Excellent park. The chutes are breathtaking. Not much of a hike though it is very rocky at times and you could rough it around the pond at the end. Very worth the trip. As ppl have mentioned, the signage is poor and the park is easy to miss... plus the road leading in is awful - you will bottom out if you're not careful.

Great place to visit for some easy hiking. A few options for trails. Easy hike to the waterfall. Didnt find any issues with parking even with my lowered VW Golf Wagon.

Ryan Fransky

Rob Cameron

This park has no signage from the road. It was a miracle that I found it. Bottomed out my van in the "parking lot ". 2 km into the east trail it was deer fly apocalypse. Dislocated my shoulders trying to swat while running. Trail wide but no signage. BUT the very short West trail makes it all worthwhile with great close up views of the waterfalls. Don't expect a pavilion or washrooms here.

Reuben H

Great short hike. Pretty easy. Watch out if you have a low car on the short road in to the parking lot. You could just park out by the main road.

A true hidden gem of a provincial park. Nice trails and the chutes are a fantastic sight with great photo opportunities. If you're passing by, you have to watch for the unmarked driveways on either side of the river.

RV, Ontario

A natural beauty no doubt, and I could have given five star only if they had maintained roads that takes you there from the main highway, and at least make it a two way road as it is almost impossible for two vehicles to pass and one usually have to back all the way either ends to let the other go. When you reach the end of the road, the Parking there is another problem as only 4-5 vehicles can fit off road style. Turning around need skills. The trail inside is also not maintained but kind of natural so be prepared. I would rate it moderate to extreme skill required to get to the falls. Watch your steps as tree roots poking out all over the trail so beware of trip hazard. Use bug spray, a lot of it. Once you reach the falls , I mean all the down as it is a steap down trail, it is easier to get in to the water. Water flow is heavy but manageable, WATCH for flash floods, as it will be dangerous to get out of there if stuck in one. Cell phone reception is Patchy. Overall good experience if you reach there safely. I would say family with kids to be very careful, this is not a walk in the park type attraction, but if you like hiking and able to find a place to park at the end of the single narrow lane, then it is worth visiting.

Dan Koehler

A very cool place to check out near Bancroft! People don't seem to realize its no longer an active park, so its not being maintained. Only took a star off due to garbage. A really beautiful natural phenomenon!

Sitting on the rocks with the rushing sounds of the rapids is great for chilling out. Parking lot and road in is a nightmare. Maintenance is non existent.

Amazing rock structure. The York river is beautiful.

(Translated) Nice falls but not big enough for a hike. (Original) Belles chutes mais pas assez grand pour une randonnée.

Short walk to a fantastic view of waterfalls. The sign at the entrance is hard to see so keep an eye out as you get close!

Elyse Fraser

A true hidden gem, non-operational park that if you find the driveway your golden! Wonderful hiking trail (groomed and we'll kept) bring a bathing suit to swim at the base of the falls at the end!

Dawn Hickey

Beautiful spot.

Connor Smith

Eva Sulatycki

Lovely place for a hike. The falls are great and the trails easy and clear

Drake Edward

The main trail is lacking but there are several side trails you can follow down to the chutes. I learned the hard way that bark and leaves are just a horrible and unpleasant thing to endure. That's right there are no restroom/our outhouses thankfully there are several downed trees.

Jeremy Wallace

Awesome trail system and heads down to an amazing waterfall view with many different minerals

Colin McPhedran

Parking lot damaged underside of sedan...chutes were nice. Road is very narrow and heaved.

Great waterfall!

Great short hike was easy and great for people of all ages. We brought my grandparents 75 and 78 but they are both in great shape. Gets a little tough near the end of the falls. Not much parking and is only wide enough for one car to get by.

Sean Montgomery

Absolutely amazing, although the parking lot is a disaster and hard to find. The hike to the first falls is easy and the views are absolutely amazing! Definitely worth checking out!

Stephanie Woodcock

It's a great hiking trail

Beautiful nature. From parking, walk along the river till the end. About 15 mins. Little pond surrounded by a huge rock, your voice gets trapped when you talk. Cheesy but cool. When you reach the fall, the river spilts into two. Most of the river falls one way while the other side you can see the beautiful layered rocks almost untouched by water. You can walk down if you dare. Photos don't do justice.

Victoria Buckmaster

Gorgeous park, not very packed. Very beautiful Rapids. A must see. Beware of the mosquitos though.

Nice little non-operating provincial park. Road into the parking area is very tight. Parking is very limited. Be careful with cars or low vehicles as the road in is very rutted and a single lane.

Brianna Lane

Michele Gallo

Great outing to show the kids, short hike from the parking just off the main road. Easy hike for any ages, went in August, no bugs at this time of year so all good there, kids went swimming at the bottom they enjoyed it.

Danielle Faulkner

Lovely trail. Narrow at times easy to moderate can be slippery when its been rainging.

D. D.

Good but lots of mosquito. Beavers are funny and the poor trees are all falling down to beavers.

Lorie Hartshorn

This is one of our favourite hikes in the Bancroft area. It’s short but spectacular as you walk beside beautiful rapids that flow into a serene lake. You can sit out on huge rocks and even go for a swim in the lake. The springtime has the highest water level for spectacular rapids and water falls.

Adam Surinskis

Quite the hidden gem!!! Not ideal for little kids as the trail gets a little steep.

Jamie Joss

Pierre Houle

Great place

Anirudh Srinivasan

You are one with nature. It is a little difficult to find but slow down, once you cross Bancroft (lovely little town) and it there to the left in a couple of miles with a very small board that just says Toronto provincial park. The east side of the river is the better trail with at least 3 chutes to visit. Carry your bug spray/lotion and wear long sleeves. Bugs/mosquitoes are omni present.

Diana Chard

Nice park for a walk and a view of some rapids.

Drumsinparadise

We took this short 30 minute or so hike with our 8 and 5 year old kids and everyone loved the waterfall!

Zenzo Wysocki

The trail was clean and well shaded. The waterfall was gorgeous and the perfect place to stop for a snack. Overall a very quiet and peaceful hike.

Rob Meyer

Fantastic set of falls/rapids. Loud! Easy walk. Follow the trail 0.5km downstream. There's another set of rapids on the west side of park..Good for kids but, consider life jackets if they go down close to the action.

Sharon Hickey

Beau Scott

Great place to explore - whether you want forrest, mini private beaches or climbing over rapids and rock pools. All relatively easy and quick (we spent about 1.5hrs exploring in there, but could be in and out in under an hour if you just go in and out).

Ryan D'souza

Short 10 minute walk to view the falls. Wonderful views and experience being able to get so near to it. Parking is limited so getting there early is a good idea. Use some bug spray.

Rich Susik

Hard to find. Only small sign on tree indicating park boundaries.

Another great day here. People, please take your garbage with you when you leave.

Dan Fraser

Difficult to find. Not tourist orientated. Narrow road. Diseased trees around parking lot.

Mandy Foster

Ansara Narine

In the town of Bancroft you can go visit this falls . As you park the trail takes about 15 min walk but there are a lot of mosquitos so be careful

Marjorie McDonald

Hard to find but that keeps visitors (and their garbage) to a minimum. Even a rudimentary map showing distance would be helpful. The map online shows the trail on the left but not the right and the map posted on site doesn't have distance so you have no idea how long the trail is. A few beautiful views but most of the trail is through the woods.

Dave Ross

We hiked along the east side to the Farm chutes - amazing hike, and it is hidden away from the yahoos that you would find at other provincial parks. Love the area!

Ok i see most ppl are only aware of the short trail on left side of river which only leads to first set of rapids and has a long rough road leading in to park. THIS IS NOT THE MAIN PARK. Enter on the RIGHT hand side of river and bridge. This entrance is not marked its just a short driveway beside a rockcut. It has the information signs describing the park at this parking area. This side of river also has a MUCH longer trail which will take u to all 3 sets of chutes (rapids) . its a great place for walking the dog . there are lots of minerals to find also although the sign does say ur not allowed to take minerals from the park. Nice walk thru the forest alongside the york river ( a branch of the madawaska river).scenic rapids , and the trail is fairly flat.

This was a great find after we were denied access to Petroglyph PP because it was too busy. I'm giving this one 3 stars because the only way you would know this was a park is if you wandered down a side rd and tripped over the couple of signs in the woods. The left side of the park gives you access to the first chute or "Egan Chute". But no further. The right side of the park(other side of the river) gives you access to all three chutes. There are NO trail markers, and most of the trails are fairly well used 4x4/atv roads. If you are on the right side of river take all the left turns you find and you'll discover all three of the chutes. The first Chute path from the rd is next to the upturned roots of a downed tree. The second chute or "middle chute" has what looks like a camping spot next to it. The third chute or "Farm Chute" is at a three way Junction in the road, take the left one. It is worth the walk all the way into the third chute. The first two are cool, but the location of the third one is beautiful. I don't know why this is a Provincial Park... The province has done nothing for it.

Tyler Oakley (Cowling)

Beautiful rapids/waterfall only a short walk on the trail away. Be careful and bring proper footwear as it can be slippery.

Beautiful trail and falls, a little rocky towards the end. It says its a provincial park but there is no office or person, its just a trail leading to falls. Parking is very bad and our car scraped the parking lot from the bottom as its not made properly.

I just canoed the river from Egan Chutes to Boulter (Slabtown) 10.6 miles. Spent the night on the sandbar just past Farm Chute. Breathtaking! Woke to a brilliant thick morning fog created by the Chute. Fishing was great. Pike everywhere. Portages are a bit rough and sometimes quite steep. But once on the water. Easy going for any level of paddler. Google maps shows it as The Madawaska River. Error! It's The York River Google maps show 2 Chutes on map. Error! Between the 2 Chutes on map is a third Chute named Middle Chute. If your planning to do it this fall, plan for 4 portages as there is a log jam by Great Bend.

Beautiful walk back to the chutes. Great place to see a wide variety of tree types. Trails in good shape and relatively easy to find the chutes. Interesting geological formations.

Andrew Cruickshank

There is a beautiful walking trail here with a set of waterfalls from the river flowing north through the park. At the end of the falls was a lake where a blue heron landed and was looking for fish while I was there. I'd rate it higher but have to warn that the road and parking lot are in rough shape so drivers without a high ground clearance will have to drive very carefully out park at the entrance and walk in. The centre of the road gets considerably higher than the sides on the way in and the parking lot had been half washed away with a sharp drop where the remaining pavement ends.

Very amazing place! Wish we could of spent the day there. Trail Has not been taken care of for a very long time so you have to be very careful. It is a true gem and well worth the effort. My 4 year old son and 9 year old daughter and I had an amazing time and made some great memories! Can't wait to go back again sometime!

Great views of big water and a winding trail with just enough up and downs so you know your getting some real exercise. The only downside to this park is the out and back trail. No loops. Parking is limited

Andrew Gerus

Beautiful park off the beaten path. A short hike leads you to these beautiful falls, just watch your step as parts of the trails are washed out.

Rebecca Ware

Amazing . Amazing . Amazing! This place is a hidden gem. Bring your bathing suit, hiking boots and a camera! DEFINITELY bring bug spray, it is better at the falls though... :) I also recommend following the trail, or, geotagging your car so you can make sure to get back safely! There are not any markers in this provincial park. Such an amazing “hike”. It’s easy if you stay on the trail, lots of fallen trees right now so be cautious you might have to climb until someone cleans up :)

Jennifer Boland

Was so nice! Was a nice bit of a hike but was so worth it.

Nice waterfall but just a trail and the river to see. Probably quite nice to canoe on, though.

Chris Fouts

A real shame that no accommodation for limited mineral collecting was ever considered by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources despite submissions from local and provincial tourism and hobby organizations. Queens Park often shows a deaf ear to rural Ontario, time and again.

Natalia Andrade

Easy hiking trail with amazing views

jin woo park

Vanessa Ip

It's easy to miss the road into the park as there isn't clear signage. As previous reviews mentioned, the road is narrow and paved but un-maintained, so drive carefully. It's a short 10 minute walk to the chutes. We opted not to take the longer trail due to rain clouds and mosquitoes, but the view of the chutes is worth the short walk! Bring bug spray.

A beautiful 10 minute walk into the falls. The road in is quite rough so take your time. Bring your fishing rod for sure. The falls are gorgeous and it is very worth the visit.

Adam Bialecki

The park has no services but the trail is maintained and there is a bit of parking. The hike up to the falls is quite easy(15 miniutes). The falls are very beautiful and a great place to take photos.

Beautiful trail, a bit icy driving in and walking through but quiet and serene. Very lovely to visit and listen to the rapids.

Phil Regamey

Road and trail needs lots of work but its a great place to visit on a warm day to swim in the rapids at the bottom.

Josh Vardy

Beautiful trails and waterfalls. There's two parking areas one on either side of the bridge over the river. One is shorter but more scenic while the other is longer, more difficult but offers more diverse sights and flora/fauna. Both roads to the parking areas are rough, and uneven
